Mikaelson Guest House
Mystic Falls, Virginia
Boys' Room
Elijah's application of the switch on Kol and Marcel did more than they wanted to admit to hasten their conciliation. Elijah's words had stung Kol because they were true. He was older and should not try to aggravate Marcellus so, he admitted to himself as he looked through his box of dark objects. After they were back in their own room, Marcel had returned the dark objects to him. He had hid them in a loose floorboard that Kol had not known about. They laughed a little about how hard Elijah had been on them and Marcel did admit that Kol got it worse. Kol recalled the look of fear earlier on Damon's face when Kol was fighting with Marcel and felt truly sorry. He told Marcel he would not say anything about him and Rebekah.
Kol also said he would admit to his older siblings about the dark objects...the more Kol thought about it, the more he realized it could be dangerous for Damon to be involved. Now that Finn was awakened, Kol feel their world shift. Nik could influence Elijah, but not Finn. Kol felt safer than he had felt in centuries. It seemed hard to believe that Finn had ever been daggered in the first place.
"Kol, I have been calling you! What are you doing playing in that box?" Rebekah scolded.
"Oh, this is not just a box, Sister. It is a lot more than that. Is it supper already?" Kol asked shutting the chest of dark objects.
"Is that a crown?" Rebekah asked. Kol frowned and made sure he locked the box carefully.
"Aye, one that will drive you to madness. Let us sup. It is our last night in this little hovel. Are you happy here, Sister?" Kol said taking her arm.
"I am, Kol. I do not miss the drama of New Orleans, the politics, the scheming covens, the brutal wolves, and the dens of vampires trying to curry favor. The humans were little better, so greedy. Maybe I do miss the fashions and the parties, but Elijah hardly let me go. Here, it is calmer and so much quieter," Rebekah mused. Right at that moment, they heard a horrific crash. Rebekah and Kol vamped downstairs.
Dining Room
Klaus looked at the mess of the roasted chicken on the floor and muttered, "Bloody hell."
Stefan cringed and put the small metal revolver behind his back. He had clicked it at Jennet and startled her badly as she came out to serve.
"Beggin' your pardon! Oh what a mess!" Jennet cried.
Rebekah went over to help her, "It is not your fault."
Marcel frowned, "Is that my old toy gun? Where did you find that?"
"It was in a chest of toys on the wagon to go to the new house...," Stefan said in a small voice.
Elijah stood, "Were you supposed to be digging through the things to go to the new house, young sir? That was Marcel's toy when he was a child and that click is very loud. Jennet is lucky she did not have a heart attack."
Stefan began to cry and gave the metal toy to Marcel who took it and smiled at Klaus.
"I bought Marcellus that gun the first week he was with it. It scared the hell out of him, too. Come now, Stefan. It was an accident. Come sit with me, we will salvage supper somehow," Klaus smiled pulling Stefan onto his lap.
Jennet took the ruined chicken back in the kitchen and muttered something about dried beef. Damon rolled his eyes at how his baby brother was again getting away with more naughtiness.
Kol laughed, "He's just a little lad. No harm done."
"I know," Damon whispered. "It is just if we did something like that at home. Father would have gone ballistic."
Kol reminded Damon, "You are home now, Damon. You do not have to live like that anymore."
Klaus whispered something to Stefan and the two of them went in the kitchen so Stefan could make his apologies to Jennet.
Finn started passing the bread, vegetables, and potatoes. "Did you two want to say something?"
Kol looked at Marcel and then back at Finn. He cleared his throat.
"The thing I was hiding is that I have a chest of dark objects. I found a coven who knew how to make them in Arabia. They are when witches can transfer their power into something and it has a magical effect. It kind of makes me feel like I can still do some type of magic. Marcel thought it would be too dangerous for Damon to learn and we argued," Kol started.
Marcel opened his mouth to speak, but Kol held up his hand. "I think that maybe he is right after all."
Elijah took some carrots and potatoes, "Kol, were you hiding this from us for all these decades?"
Kol admitted, "I was. Some of the objects can do nasty things like drive a person insane or take about their free will. We could use them against our enemies, but we also need to secure them from Stefan getting into them."
"I am sure Niklaus has some safe or vault being built as part of the new house. Really, until Damon and Stefan came, I do not see why you would have hidden this unless...," Elijah stopped. "Were you planning to use this against Niklaus?"
Kol reddened, "I was afraid he would dagger me. But I never had the means to develop a weapon to protect myself. It would take a powerful witch and a great source of power."
Finn was confused, "So I am not sure I understand. Kol was trying to defend himself against Niklaus? Kol, did you fear his daggers? Like the very one that put me to sleep for almost a thousand years?"
Kol confessed, "Yes, I thought that the only way I could stop Nik was to fight fire with fire, but now that you are here, Finn...You would not let him dagger me again, would you?"
Finn was troubled, "Of course not."
Elijah added, "Nor would I." Klaus came back in with Stefan carrying a second roasted chicken.
"See, all fixed!" Klaus announced. "Why so glum? This is our last night in this house. Tomorrow, we shall be where we belong!" Klaus raised his wine glass as a toast.
"This new house will need a name," Rebekah thought.
"Wait until you see it," Klaus smiled. "I think it should meet our needs."
Elijah commented, "If it has a secret vault, a dungeon, and a wine cellar, then I'm sure it will do."
"Two out of three, Brother," Klaus smirked. "But you shall not know which one is left out."
Kol guffawed as he gulped his wine, "See? Nik and his secrets. They never end."
"I like secrets," Stefan said. "Damon kissed Fanny Maxwell last year at the church picnic!" Damon flushed and shushed him. Everyone else laughed.

Mikaelson Estate
As the coach rolled up, Rebekah clutched Marcel's hand. "Oh, it is beautiful!"
In front of them, was a beautiful white pillared Greek revival style mansion.
Marcel almost choked, "Papa has outdone himself. This is not just a house, but a vast estate." There were two stories surrounded by acres of grounds.
Kol gasped, "Nik, it is bloody huge. I like the balcony. Just promised me that you and Elijah will not push each other off of it."
Finn's attention was piqued, "What was this now?"
Elijah stammered, "Nothing. Just a friendly disagreement we had in what? The 16th century in Italy...I had to teach Nik here a lesson."
"They landed in a fountain!" Kol added helpfully.
Klaus said, "There are six bedrooms. Finn, like I mentioned, the grandest bedroom is downstairs, I would like you to have it. All the other bedrooms are on the second floor. Rebekah's room is the one with the balcony in the front."
The family disembarked the cab and Stefan ran up the eight steps to the double front doors. They were painted black. "Can I go in?"
Klaus smiled. Rebekah took Stefan's hand, "You may." They walked through the doors into the grand entryway.
Klaus said, "The floors are pine. The architect wanted to use local materials. No Italian marbles or imports, except for the furnishings and things of that nature. There are eight fireplaces and mantles, double parlors, one can be used as our music room, a formal dining room which can double as the ballroom, and the butler's pantry is through there." Klaus pointed down the large hallway.
"Is the library on this floor?" Elijah asked. "My study?"
"Aye, Marcellus, you have a study there by Elijah's. Finn, your bedroom is to the right. There is a large covered porch back here and then the gardens," Klaus said.
"Can we go upstairs?" Damon asked. "This house is grander than Veritas!"
The family followed the boys upstairs as their excitement was contagious.
"Marcel and Kol, your room is off the stairs here. The bath is here. My room is in this corner, to the left of Rebekah's room. Damon and Stefan will be on the right of Rebekah. Elijah is on the other side, behind that room," Klaus showcased.
Stefan frowned. Rebekah whispered, "You can still sleep with me anytime. We are right next door to each other."
He nodded and smiled. "You have a balcony!"
Klaus added, "Rebekah likes to sit and read her novels outside. We shall put some chairs out there. Nice, hmm?"
Rebekah embraced Klaus, "Nik, I love it. I cannot believe you did all of this!"
Klaus showed the family the rest of the estate from the window.
"See the lake? It is filled with bass. The horse stables is over there near the coach house. There are the servants' quarters. Cook will live the closest, of course. Then, there is the bakehouse, the laundry rooms, a barn, wagon shed, and some coachman's quarters," Klaus explained.
"What is that that little house?" Kol asked pointing at a far off building.
"The slaughterhouse. I thought it would be grand if we are almost self-sufficient here. There is a small sawmill, a gardener's house, kennels for the hounds, a greenhouse, a small smithy, and a carpenters' workshop," Klaus said proudly.
"And workman?" Marcel prodded.
"All freeman. All paid. I hired a butler, a house steward, a groom, a valet, a housekeeper, a new kitchen maid, a game keeper, a carpenter, a blacksmith, kennel boys, two new coachman, and even a nanny for young Stefan here," Klaus stated.
Stefan whined, "I do not need a nanny, I have Rebekah!"
Finn leaned down, "Rebekah will be going to school. She will have her own studies to attend to."
Stefan just whimpered. Damon said, "Come, let's go look at our room. You can pick your bed."
Elijah looked out upon the grand estate, "It is glorious, Niklaus, but this will take an enormous amount of coin to run. Just the wages of the servants alone..."
Klaus nodded, "I know. But once we began producing crops and goods, we can sell those off. Think of all the people employed here. It can be done."
Elijah nodded, "We shall make it work. Have you assembled the staff yet?"
Klaus shook his head, "Nay, I thought you would want to speak to them. Come, I shall introduce you. Jennet and some of the others have joined us, but many are new."
The rest of the day was a blur of activity, the family directed the staff as to where to put things. Many new furnishing were set up. Klaus had left the walls plain so each person could decorate it later as he or she wished.
Finn was astonished at the size of his room, "I got from a small coffin to this! It is grand indeed."
Klaus smiled sheepishly, "I think that perhaps you might have Miss Sage move in or visit from time to time."
Finn said, "Ahh, well, this room will afford me some privacy indeed. I know how you feel about Sage. Thank you, Brother."
Klaus was ashamed. "Perhaps I was too hasty in my judgment. She is a sound lady. And Brother, if she makes you happy, then you must seize it."
"Thank you for saying that. And Niklaus, you have outdone yourself in creating this estate. It is not only grand, but a place of safety. Were there other reasons you left New Orleans?" Finn asked lightly.
Niklaus grew uncomfortable, "Yes, Finn. There were. I, in my rashness and prior hastiness, created many enemies among both vampires and witches. A New Orleans witch and her coven is never to be trifled with. I had made no secret of wanting to end my hybrid curse and that frightened some powerful people."
"I see," Finn said. "Well, do not let me keep you from your duties. I am here to help."
"I appreciate that." Klaus said. He did have many things to do. He would fill in his brother on the full story later. When the time was right.

Fell's Church
The next week had been busy and productive. When it was time for church services, Stefan was fussing that he did not want to go.
"I am tired, Rebekah," Stefan moaned as she got him up. The new nanny was off on Sundays and it felt to Rebekah to get the nine year old out of bed.
"Come on, if we are late, we shall both we in a stew of trouble," Rebekah said tickling him.
"Stopppp," Stefan laughed, still refusing to get out of bed.
"Dammit, Stefan. Get up already. You are old enough to start listening better," Damon shouted.
"Damon, if someone hears you speak like that, your backside is going to get attended to," Rebekah warned sternly.
"But Rebekah, he acted up all week with Miss Becky and no one said a word. Now, I get in trouble for yelling at him?" Damon scoffed.
"It is the cursing that will get you in trouble. Believe me. Let us go to breakfast," Rebekah said picking Stefan up and carrying him downstairs in his night clothes.
Kol saw the look on Damon's face, "Mate, you need to let it go! Why do we not go practice your magic by the lake today? Just the two of us. You need a break from your brother."
"Thanks, Kol. I am trying to not be vexed with him," Damon confessed.
"You may want to try harder, you are glaring at him," Kol stated. Stefan knocked over his cup of milk on the floor and Damon scowled to see the poor houseboy rush over to clean it up. Seeing the grin on Stefan's face, Damon knew his little brother did that on purpose.
"Did you catch that?" Damon whispered to Kol.
"Aye, I did. Damon, lad, you are right. That child needs a good hiding," Kol acknowledged.
Fell's Church
The pastor droned on and Damon wanted to nod off. He was thinking about whether he needed new boots or not when suddenly two girls his age walked in. One was black with dark curls and sparking brown eyes and a curved smile and the other had pale skin with brown hair and brown eyes. Both were very pretty and wore fashionable gowns. Stefan found himself staring and almost fell over when his father walked in after them. What was Giuseppe Salvatore doing with these two beautiful woman? Furthermore, Giuseppe's eyes feel on Damon as if he did not even know him. They were strangers now.
Stefan was oblivious to their father entering the church, he tugged at Damon's sleeve.
"What, Stef?" Damon snapped.
"I gotta go," Stefan remarked.
"Hold it," Damon retorted.
Stefan said, "I will tell everyone that you cursed and you will get a spanking!"
Damon felt his neck and ears burn with shame, "Shut your mouth, Stefan."
Elijah leaned over and asked, "Are you going to take him?"
"Yes, sir," Damon rejoined standing up quickly. He had had about enough of Stefan's sass. "Come on, Stef."
Stefan followed Damon out to the privy. Damon caught the eye of the one lady and she flashed a smiled at him. He did not smile back, but grabbed Stefan's hand and pulled him out of the church. Stefan immediately squirmed and wiggled out of Damon's hold. Damon grabbed him harder and Stefan tripped and fell.
"Damon, you pushed me!" Stefan shouted. Elijah got up to go after them, but Klaus told him he would take care of it. After all, Elijah had just dealt with Kol and Marcel.
Klaus caught up with them right when they exited the church, "What is going on? You two are causing a scene!"
Stefan blurted out, "He pushed me down!"
Damon lunged at his brother, "Shut your mouth, you little brat!"
Stefan clung to Klaus, "He said 'dammit' again this morning. Right in front of me."
Klaus conceded, "I warned you that I was going to heat up your backside, Damon, if you kept cursing at him. Did I not?"
Damon panicked, "This little bastard is the one who needs a spanking! He spilled that milk on purpose this morning to see the house boy clean it. I swear!"
"Is that true, young man?" Klaus snapped. The look on Stefan's face revealed the truth.
Stefan let go of Klaus and ran to the privy and locked himself in.
Klaus grabbed Damon by the arm and headed toward the privy, "Seems like you both need your trousers taken down for a good, hard spanking today."
Damon could not believe he was going to get spanked here, he started to cry, "No, please. My father walked in with two girls. Did you see him?"
Klaus stopped, "Damon, we told you that your father would be back in town. He runs many lumber mills. Until you are of age, we need him to continue those businesses, then you can take over. What does that have to do with you getting a licking?"
Damon shifted his feet and looked down, "Nothing. I just think Stefan needs it more."
"Perhaps, but you were warned about cursing in front of him and being a little more patient with him. Stefan, use the privy and then open the door," Klaus said calmly.
Stefan opened the door and his face was a mess of tears,"Sorry about the milk."
Klaus reassured him, "That was naughty, but I am sure you will learn not to do it again." Klaus pulled Damon into the outhouse and relocked the door. It was not very big, but Klaus put the lid over the hole and sat down.
"Your behavior this week has been very poor, the both of you. School shall be starting soon and if you behave like this, you are going to get whipped a good deal more than you would like. And believe me, we will follow up with a spanking at home. Now, Damon, you are first," Klaus asserted.
Damon felt Klaus' hands turning him to the side and leaning him over one knee. He had to brace himself against the rough wood of the out house.
Crack! Crack! Crack! Crack! Crack!
Stefan watched his brother get spanked with big eyes. Damon bit his lip to avoid gasping with the ancient vampire was swatting him firmly and in the same spot. Whack!
"Ouch!" Damon finally gasped.
"Trouser's down. I will unclip your suspenders," Klaus said lowering Damon's trousers and underpants to right below his bottom. Stefan was turned so he could not see Damon's rear but the cracks now were much louder and sharper in the small space. Klaus whacked harder and faster.
Smack! Smack! Smack! Smack! Smack!
Damon bucked up and tried to stand, but Klaus had him pinned.
Smack! Smack! Smack! Smack! Smack! Damon was crying from the burning, but more from the embarrassment.
"And one more word out of you and you will get a real spanking when we get home. Now turn and pull up your pants, Stefan, your turn," Klaus ordered. Stefan wailed but stomped forward to get his spanking. Damon hissed and grunted as his yanked up his underwear and trousers. The sting was very fresh, but he hoped it was soon fade.
"I know you know what you did was wrong, but you do it again and you will not sit for a week!" Klaus roared as he pulled down Stefan's trousers and underpants.
Smack! Smack! Smack! Smack! Smack!
Stefan screamed and wailed. Pop! Pop!
"Two more," Klaus said softly. Whack! Whack! Stefan was let up and Klaus pulled up his pants quickly. He flailed and rubbed his sore bottom. Damon realized that they had gotten their ages in spanks again.
Klaus hugged Stefan and then Damon and opened the door.
"Come now, we have been gone a week. No squirming when you sit back down or you will get another spanking as soon as we go home," Klaus threatened. Damon tried to wipe at his tear covered face himself while Klaus cleaned up Stefan.
Sitting down on the hard pews was torture and Stefan got at least one warning to sit still. Damon tried to not glance at the new ladies in the church sitting by his father, but it was hard not to notice them. They sat and giggled behind their fans and looked back at him.
Maybe the picnic today would not be that bad? Damon shifted and hoped that the most painful part of his day was already over.
