"Auror Moody, what did you find from Peter Pettigrew?" asked Lady Bones
"Only a finger."
"Surely the explosion must a left a body, which sounds fishy," said Professor Dumbledore.
"You are right, Professor. The whole thing falls apart. In fact, it started falling apart once we looked and the wand and the arm. I don't know why Mr. Crouch never bothered doing it. Had Lady Malfoy not brought it to my attention, we would have never knows Mr. Crouch locked an innocent man in Azkaban without a trial just because of his last name."
"Preposterous " shouted Barty Crouch Sr.
"It's the truth. You and your puppet of a successor believed all Blacks are murderers even though your mother is one," said Lord Black.
"I believe what we currently have proves Sirius Black's innocence. Do you have any elements to add or should we let the jury decide with what we have?" asked Lady Bones.
"Well, there are three stuff I need to plead to: being an unregistered Animagus, recklessly endangering a student, and having the best looks in the world," said Sirius trying to sound serious. Everyone laughed at the last one.
"Well, I think we it's time to vote. Those who want to clear the defendant Sirius Orion Black from the charges against him, excluding the ones he confessed to should raise their hand," said the DMLE Head.
Most hands were raised, including, to the astonishment of some, the hand of Augusta Longbottom.
"Those who vote to convict the defendant raise their hand."
Few hands were raised, including that of Barty Crouch Sr., to no one's surprise.
"Sirius Orion Black is declared innocent on all charges but the last two. Since he already served 5 years in Azkaban for a crime he didn't commit, he will be issued a fine totaling 10% of his settlement money. I declare this trial closed," said Amelia Bones.
Sirius was finally freed from the shackles and his relatives rushed to greet him. His grandfather and cousins hold him in a tight embrace, especially Narcissa.
"You can't believe how much I missed you, Sirius! I sometimes regret not contacting you before. 10 years is a lot."
"No problem, Cissy. Life was always harsh to me, you, and Andy because of our parents."
"Our parents don't know what love means. I am pretty sure you and Andy wouldn't have rebelled had they shown us love."
"That's right Cissy. No one wants to lose loving parents," said her sister.
"I would have gladly been Sorted into Slytherin had my parents loved me,' said their cousin.
Cygnus Black was detained and his trial was set for next week. But Sirius didn't know what to do now that he's free.
"You're welcome any time at Malfoy Manor, Sirius. But I think you need to spend some time at Andy's first, especially since her husband is a Mind Healer." Narcissa Malfoy recommending a Muggle-born? What has the world come? But then, Andromeda used to hate them yet married one.
"Your husband doesn't mind?"
"Lucius knows I will do everything for my family. I even told him that before our wedding. The one you should be worried about is Severus."
"He lives with you?"
"Yes, during the summer. I don't know what Lucius sees in him. He's the only half-blood he likes. As for me, I never liked him that much."
"Why?"
"After I caught him in my fifth year hexing Muggle-borns, he informed my parents that I assigned him detection. I still remember the Cruciatus Curse on me."
"He did what?"
"He even called me a blood-traitor who sympathized with Mudbloods. I told him that as a Perfect, it's my duty to protect students."
"And you did well, Cissa. I don't get why Lily liked him."
"Same.
"And now, Lucius will have Harry in his house."
"I won't lie to you. It wasn't easy convincing him to let Harry in, but me and Severus are Slytherins, so we told him it will show we are not evil."
"When are you taking Harry from his awful aunt?" he asked the blonde witch.
"At 3 P.M."
"I hope they don't give you much grieve. Petunia is really infuriating and I don't want you in Azkaban."
"Don't worry about me. See you later, cousin!"
"Later!"
As the four Slytherins with Harry arrived to Malfoy Manor, Narcissa couldn't help but notice Snape's bad mood.
"What's the matter, Severus?" asked the blonde witch.
"You freed your murderer of a cousin."
"He's not a murderer. It was Peter Pettigrew."
"I know that. I never believed he was the traitor. But your prick of a cousin tried to murder me."
"Wait! You knew?" The usually cold witch was really angry.
"I suspected so. It seems that no one who knew Sirius had the sense to realize that he would never betray his friends. After all, he's not a coward. But I am surprised it was you who believed he might be innocent. Not Dumbledore, not McGonagall, not Remus, not your sister, but you. I didn't even know you cared about him, I thought you only care about your husband and your son. Don't you consider him to be a blood-traitor like most of your family?"
"Are you really serious, Severus?"
"No. I am Severus. Sirius is your wretched cousin." The blonde witch rolled her eyes.
"You have known me for long, yet you ask these questions? Or are you trying to file me up just because you're angry that I got my cousin released?"
"I still don't get why you did it. After him, he was disowned. And you don't need him."
"You think I really approve of how my family disowns people? You don't know me, Severus. I would do everything for me family, and Sirius is family for me. You don't know how close we were before I was forget to cut all contact with him. I even remember holding him in my arms when he was a baby. You really think I would give up all that because of politics? Who do you think I am? Bella?"
"Yet you disowned your own sister for marrying a Muggle-born and you clearly hate her."
"Don't be ridiculous, Severus. Andy has always been my sister but I had to wait for my father-in-law to die to see her again. You know how Abraxas Malfoy is. He would have murdered the both of us. You know how he is."
"Talking about Andromeda I am surprised she never realized your dear cousin is innocent. You would think she's his favourite cousin since she too was disowned."
"Andy doesn't know Sirius as much as I do. Me and him used to be each other's favourite cousin due to us being the closest in age."
"And I guess I will have the displeasure of meeting him in this Manor."
"Well, yes. Me and him will be raising the same child and are family. And I hope you don't poison him, else you would have to deal with me," said the blonde witch in a threatening voice.
"Don't worry. I don't plan on murdering your shitty cousin. I would rather he gets the Kiss because that's the only thing this murderer deserves."
"You are unbelievable, Severus. Sirius didn't know you would actually go to the Shrieking Shack. He told me that you kept pestering him about it and even threatened to curse him had he not told you what's there. When Sirius knew you actually went there, he alerted James. Sirius got a detention every weekend for the rest of his school life and deeply regretted it. What more do you want, Severus? You let my cousin rot in jail with Dementors for a crime he didn't commit for 5 years. He also confessed to recklessly endangering a student and got a huge fine, since he had already spent 5 years too much in Azkaban. But it's never enough for you, Severus."
"No one told him to be a murderer. He deserves it."
"May I remind you that you did worse? You joined the Dark Lord without getting pressured into it because you wanted to commit genocide against Muggles. You hexed Muggle-born students and left threatening messages signed by a certain Half-Blood Prince on their beds. You also called me a filthy blood-traitor and reported me to my parents for doing my job as a Prefect and got my tortured with the Cruciatus Curse. Yet you were never sent to Azkaban because Dumbledore vouched for you and Lucius bribed the Ministry."
Having nothing to add, the vampire left.
