A/N: I have been sucked into the Genshin fandom and I've been obsessed with the plotline and Diluc. Chilumi and Jeanluc are so cute, so I figured to write a little one shot set in the future with married Jean and Diluc. It takes place in an AU where Lumine is the traveler and Aether eventually leaves the Abyss Order. He and Lumine still continue to travel between worlds together, but occassionally visit Teyvat. :)

It was relatively peaceful on Teyvat that fall morning. The gentle breeze rustled through the leaves on the tree. Sitting atop a statue, the beloved anemo archon strummed his lyre while he hummed a tune.

The only thing that wasn't peaceful was the blonde twins running across Mondstadt.

"Hurry up, Lumine!" The first twin ran ahead of his sister. He had long, braided hair that was flying behind him. The accents on his foreign clothes were a mint green, representing his current elemental abilities.

It had been three years since the twins reunited and Aether left the Abyss Order. The pair did not stay on Teyvat constantly anymore; they had moved onto many other worlds, but their hearts still belonged to the people that they'd grown close to over the course of their journey. Lumine was closer with them than Aether was, granted; but her friends accepted him despite what they believed was his wrongdoings. She'd even grown to have a relationship with Tartaglia, though she'd never admitted if they were official or not yet.

"We have all the time we need!" Lumine called after him. It vaguely resembled something her twin had said to her years ago. We have always… had enough time. She couldn't help but think about that often. It reminded her of the time they'd been apart, which she hated. Aether always tried to look on the bright side and told her they were together now and it didn't matter. Though, Aether regretted just as much of what had happened on the inside. He just wanted Lumine to be happy.

"But Acting Grand Master Jean and Master Diluc!" Aether just yelled back. The two had been married for a year or so. It was a little unexpected that the two had gotten together, but everyone was happy for them. Recently, the twins had gotten news from Kaeya that they'd adopted. Of course, Aether and Lumine were ecstatic to hear that, so they'd went to go find them at their home outside of Mondstadt.

"I know!" Lumine just sighed as she saw her brother begin to slow a little, "What now?" She stopped at his side, only sounding slightly annoyed. He was her brother, she was never too mad at him. A little floating creature finally caught up the pair.

"Paimon can't believe you'd leave her behind like that!" She stomped her foot, irritated, thought it was hard to tell she was stomping because she was still floating in mid air.

"There's some new dish at Good Hunter!" Aether exclaimed, completely ignoring Paimon. "We should get it!"

"I thought we were going to-" Lumine began. Sometimes, Aether still acted like a total child, but she loved him.

"Mm, Paimon loves Good Hunter's food! Paimon declares we must get some! On you, of course!"

Lumine sighed. She was used to this behavior from Paimon. "Fine, only because you two are so eager."

After a quick meal at Good Hunter, the twins continued to head for Diluc and Jean's home, which was situated near Dawn Winery. When they'd gotten there, Kaeya was flipping a coin outside of the house on their porch. He was leaned against the wall, not paying much mind to anything going on around them.

"Master Kaeya! Are Master Diluc and Grand Master Jean home?" Paimon was the first to ask. She was just excited as the twins were about the whole ordeal.

"They're back." Kaeya smirked, jerking his free hand to the door. Kaeya was usually wearing a smirk, but it felt different this time. At least, it did to Lumine. She was more observant than Aether.

"Congrats on becoming an uncle, by the way." Aether punched his shoulder with a grin. "How's the kid?"

"Thanks," The cavalry captain then continued, "Oh, he's fine. Though I think you should see for yourself." Kaeya stepped away from the doorframe and caught the coin.

Aether and Lumine exchanged an excited glance. So they'd adopted a little boy! Lumine put her hand up to the door and knocked.

When Diluc opened the door, Jean was beside him, holding something, but there was no baby in sight. In fact, all they seemed to have was a-

"You two adopted a tortoise?" Paimon sounded extremely surprised. "We thought it was-"

Lumine clamped her hand over Paimon's mouth. "Going to be much smaller than that." She didn't sound convincing at all.

Aether was just standing there with a really stupid expression. It was a combination of surprise and general shock.

"Of course it's a tortoise," Jean began, running her hand along the baby tortoise's shell. "What did you think it was, a baby?" As soon as she said it, she turned red. Diluc even looked slightly red too.

"Maybe…?" Aether sweatdropped.

"I don't understand how you came to that conclusion. We told Kaeya to tell you…" Diluc trailed off. Kaeya walked into the room, clapping.

Diluc folded his arms. "I see you've misinformed people once again."

Kaeya closed the door behind him. "It was merely a trial to see how devoted they would be to get here if it was so." Kaeya responded, looking smug, "I heard they were back on Teyvat, so I decided to put it to the test."

"I should've known," Lumine facepalmed. This wasn't the first time Kaeya had tricked them, nor would it be the last.

Paimon folded her arms. "Seriously, Master Kaeya? Paimon's not going to trust you anymore after this!"

"The good news for you is that you exceeded my expectations." Kaeya… reassured? It was a compliment and insult at the same time.

"'Exceeded your expectations'? What's that supposed to mean?" Paimon looked offended.

"And this is why I don't tell you anything." Diluc still had his arms crossed, his expression quite stern.

Kaeya chuckled. "You know you love me." He reminded his stepbrother, his eyes glittering.

"No. I really don't." Diluc sighed. Somehow, Lumine could tell Diluc was lying. He had a heart. He must've, otherwise Jean wouldn't have been with him. Besides, a brother was a brother. She would know that best out of all of them.

"…" Aether's movements were still stiff and slow, as if he was still processing it. "And why did you call us here to come see him?"

"Well, at the beginning of Lumine's journey, Paimon sounded surprised that we'd both kept tortoises as pets…" Jean began.

"…so we figured you would be interested if we actually got one." Diluc finished, exchanging a smile with his wife. That was the most emotion he showed in public, and it was because of Jean.

"Ohhh, Paimon understands! Though Paimon still finds it a bit strange. What did you name the tortoise?" Paimon flew closer to the creature.

"We named him Flash, after my old tortoise." Jean explained with a smile and then set him back in his terrarium.

"Makes sense we'd go all the way across Teyvat to see a tortoise." Lumine mused. She liked tortoises and turtles, but she just found the situation humorous.

"We've went across Teyvat for much less." Aether joked, laughter filling the room. It may not have been what Lumine and Aether expected that day, but it was certainly the relaxing day they needed.

Suddenly, he ran over and looked at the tortoise in the terrarium. "Can I hold him?" He bounced a little.

"Of course." Jean seemed amused when she saw Aether pick him up, cradle him for a moment, and then start chasing Paimon with him.

Diluc just sighed, though this behavior was not unusual from Aether. He wrapped his arm around Jean. It was his way of showing she was safe and protected.

In that moment, Lumine joined in and started to chase after as well, the twins occasionally passing the tortoise between each other.

"Hey! Paimon does NOT like being chased by the tortoise!" She whined as she tried to fly away.

Kaeya leaned against the wall and watched the twins, who were still chasing the poor creature. "Uncle Kaeya… I think it has a nice ring to it." He mused.

Jean laughed. "One day, Kaeya. One day."

A/N: I got this idea from rewatching one of the scenes where Diluc and Jean both mentioned they owned pet tortoises and Paimon thought it was crazy lol.

What do you think? Should I write more for them? Ideas are welcome :)
