I had an idea for a Halloween story, and since I wanted to post something simple before the end of the month, here's a little drabbly three chapter story about our favorite superheroes dressing up as villainous alter egos! Maybe a little Cat Blanc therapy bit too, who knows? Hopefully, this thing will be done before Halloween ends. Enjoy!

Chapter One

Homemade Healing

"The simple truth is you don't love me anymore! So I MIGHT as well destroy YOU, ME, OUR MEMORIES... EVERYTHING!" Cat Blanc screamed as he charged up a pale ball of death and destruction in his palm. Marinette scrambled back - she almost never had her powers here - as the partner she treasured so dearly, now gone mad from the akuma in his mind for God knows how long at this point, slammed the ball against the spot where they both stood. Everything went white.

Marinette awoke, clawing at her sheets in the dark. The faintest glimmer of light shone through her skylight, pale as the nightmare she had been desperate to get away from. She shivered a little. For the longest time afterwards, she'd been thinking of getting rid of everything white in her wardrobe. Unfortunately, that didn't leave her with much otherwise.

She glanced down at Tikki and, by extension, her pillow. She winced to herself; she didn't realize she'd been crying while she slept. Or sweating like that. Tikki stirred a little. "That nightmare again?" she asked tiredly. Marinette nodded. "I can't get rid of it. I swear, it's almost like Shadow Moth figured out about it and he doesn't want me to forget. Or the universe is telling me to not love Cat Noir. I don't know anymore, Tikki. I'm just so tired."

Tikki blinked the sleepiness from her eyes and floated up to Marinette's eye level. "Well, isn't that holiday coming up? The one where people dress up and ask for candy?" she asked. Marinette nodded. "Halloween, yeah. What about it?"

Tikki smiled a little. "I had a few holders who had some fears similar to yours, and they were almost always conquered by taking it and making it seem less harmful. Isn't there a Halloween party coming up at school?"

Marinette nodded slightly. She'd been asked a few times what her costume was going to be - with Chloe interjecting and saying something about it being ridiculous, of course - but she never had the answer. What Tikki said made her think. "You want me… to dress up as Cat Blanc… for the Halloween party?" she asked slowly.

Tikki shrugged. "It could help. Didn't some of your friends say something about dressing up as their akumatized selves? And maybe not directly as Cat Blanc. Maybe a white version of your Lady Noire suit?" she suggested. Marinette was tempted to say no. It sounded too crazy. But her mental gears started turning. She hadn't designed a new costume in a while. And Tikki might have a point.

"You know what, Tikki? I'm gonna try it," Marinette decided. "Who knows, maybe it will help?"

Tikki nodded. "And if it doesn't, at least you have a costume for the party!" Marinette nodded. "You're right. Let's go get to work," she said. Tikki smiled a little. "Marinette, it's one in the morning. How about we wait until after breakfast?" she said.

Marinette sat dumbfounded for a moment, then giggled a little. "You're right, Tikki. Good night." Tikki smiled. "Good night, Marinette."

The next day, after school had let out and more excited whispers of the Halloween party at the end of the week had been exchanged, Marinette made her way to the nearest costume shop. Normally, she would have made it herself, but she didn't have nearly enough white fabric to make it. It would be easier to just get a Lady Noire costume and, using some fabric-safe paints, make it white.

Marinette considered herself lucky. She wasn't sure if her alternate alter ego had been popular enough to make a costume, but some industrious company had decided she was and made it. There were only five full Lady Noire costumes in stock, and only one of them was in her size. After paying and leaving the store, she made her way to the nearest craft supply store and purchased as many things of white fabric paint, light blue LEDs, and thin clear tubing as she could afford. Almost an hour later, after a nasty traffic jam and an akuma alert, Marinette finally got home. Quickly shutting herself up in her room, she laid her materials out and got to work.

"Ooh," Tikki said as she admired the suit after Marinette had put it on. "It's been a long time since the last female Cat wielder." Marinette shifted a little in the costume. "I don't remember feeling this awkward, though," she muttered as she stretched a little and took a few steps forward. The costume tightened a bit when she moved in specific ways and she didn't care for that. "Oh, well, I'm going to be overhauling this thing anyhow. Let's get started."

Quickly taking off the costume, Marinette got out her scissors and started cutting away at the bits that were too tight. Luckily, she had the foresight to stock up on black fabric and thread. She quickly sewed some patches on that allowed for better range of movement and didn't seem as awkward when she looked in a mirror.

"Tikki, bring over the lights, please," Marinette said as she cut out the green lines on the costume and started working with the tubes. After a few minutes of work, the LEDs were glowing a soft but steady light blue. Marinette pressed a little button she had sewed into the right hand under the pinky finger, turning off the lights. She did a similar set up with the ears on the wig that came with the costume.

"It's looking even better than it first did!" Tikki complimented. Marinette wiped some of the sweat from her brow. "Yeah. Now it should be downhill from here. Time to paint!"

Two hours later, Marinette and Tikki admired their handiwork. The once black-and-green suit was now white with light blue accents. Even the fake Cat Miraculous glued to the costume's hand and the little paw print trinket on the belt were white and blue. The only thing left was the wig, which was still dark as midnight.

"I've always wondered what it would be like to have fully black hair," Marinette confessed as she contemplated what to do with the wig. "People sometimes say that it looks blue in specific light. I do like my hair color, don't get me wrong. But to have it fully black for a few days…" she drew out the sentence as she figured out what to do. "Hair dye. A lot of white hair dye." She quickly checked her phone. Almost nine o'clock.

"Maybe you should do your homework now," Tikki advised. "We'll get the dye tomorrow." Marinette nodded. "Alright. And maybe some blue cat's eye contacts."

It had taken almost the entire week to finish, but the evening before the party, Marinette's whited-out Lady Noire costume was done. She'd tried it on a few times, and the modifications she made were definitely worth it. Clicking on the lights with the button she installed, the veins on her suit started glowing blue. Standing in front of the mirror, she felt a small amount of apprehension as she looked at herself. It looked so much like he did.

Marinette steeled herself. It was her, not Cat Blanc. She wasn't going to be scared of herself. She was shaken out of her thoughts by Tikki floating around her. "I think everyone's going to be really impressed when they see this," she complimented as she glanced up and down the costume.

"You think?" Marinette asked. Tikki nodded. "It's no small feat to remake an entire costume. You've already made amazing things, Marinette. But this? This takes the cake," Tikki replied. Marinette nodded slowly as she slowly started to realize one important detail. "What if people ask where I got the idea from? I can't tell them it's an akumatized Cat Noir!"

"I'm sure you'll think of something, Marinette," Tikki reassured. "Besides, I think they'll be a lot more focused on the craftsmanship of the costume." Marinette sighed. "I guess you're right. You know, it's funny, in a way. I'm not worrying about him as much as I am about how people will react to the suit."

Tikki beamed. "See? I told you it would work!" she said happily. Marinette smiled back. "Now I wonder what Adrien will go as? An angel, maybe? Or a dream?" she sighed dreamily as she changed out of the costume.

Her phone buzzed as an akuma alert came on. Marinette exchanged a glance with Tikki. "Let's hope this one isn't too bad," she said. "Tikki, Spots on!" A moment later, Ladybug swung over the rooftops to the source of the alert.

For something I wrote on a whim in two days, this turned out pretty well, IMO. Of course, I would love to hear your thoughts on how I did. Questions, comments, critiques (be nice plz), the whole shabang, tell me how I thought, and stay safe, healthy, and remember to vote!
