Chapter 18
Rise To The Challenge
My class began the practical exam for the final. However, what we thought we would be doing for our practical exam was different than we expected. We had to fight the UA teachers to pass the exam. I didn't know if we were ready for this, but we had no choice and accepted the challenge.
"Ready. Set, Go!" The computerized announcer started as the first match began. It was Team Tatsumi and Maruto who started first.
Their exam was in the city area. Kai and Arisa watched at the monitor room, with Recovery Girl on the chair, watching too.
"So the first match is Tatsumi and Maruto," Arisa said.
"Against my sister," Kai noted.
"Your sister, um, Miss Speed Girl is strong, right?" Arisa asked. "I heard from Usagi that she defeated a villain named Zap, who also had superspeed for Quirk. It was when the whole USJ attack happened."
Kai nodded. "Yeah, but I wouldn't describe her as strong, though."
"Huh, what do you mean?" Arisa asked.
"Just watch," Kai stated as his eyes focused on the monitor.
Tatsumi was in his Kamen Rider Mix suit. One half was white, like Iida's costume, while the other half was pink, like Uraraka's costume. In this form, he mixed Iida's Engine Quirk with Uraraka's Gravity Quirk.
"Hey, Tatsumi, are you sure that this is OK?" Maruto asked, looking worried.
Maruto's costume consisted of a gray suit with one-half red and the other half blue for the shoulder pads. He also wore a helmet with a yellow visor. Unlike what he wore during the USJ incident, his costume was upgraded. His costume design was based on the magnet.
"This is probably our best chance to win," Tatsumi said as he was carrying Maruto on his back. "Speed Girl is fast, but if by this doing, even if she caught up to us, I will just throw you far enough so that you can reach the goal while I distract her."
"OK, but I hope that borrowed Engine Quirk can even match with her speed," Maruto noted.
"Don't worry. With Uraraka Ocahco's Gravity Quirk, it makes my body lighter while also carrying you easier," he explained as he started the engine on his calves. "Hang on!"
Maruto held tighter around his partner's waistline. He then ran off at a super turbo speed. He was moving so fast that Maruto could feel his helmet might come off.
Arisa felt amazed. "Wow! Tatsumi's moving so fast!"
"That's quite impressive. I say not bad," Recovery Girl commented.
"But it is not good enough," Kai stated, surprising Arisa.
Back in the field, Tatsumi was getting closer to the goal gate.
"Maruto, can you see it? I can see the gate!" Tatsumi exclaimed.
"No, but that's good to know!" Maruto said, feeling like his head was going to rip off from his body.
"You sure run fast." The boys gasped. They looked to their right to see Speed Girl moving backward at the same speed, with her arms crossed.
"What the?!" The boys' mouths opened. Arisa had the same facial expression.
Name: Haruka Uno. Pro Hero Name: Speed Girl. Quirk: Super Speed. She is the fastest person in the world. Her Quirk is one of the simplest and most generic Quirk, but do not take it as weak. She can move faster than in a blink of an eye! Nobody knows how fast she can go, but she can go fast as close to the speed of light, but her body won't be strong enough to withstand the amount of power she gives out if she does move that fast. She is also an older sister and homeroom teacher to his brother and protagonist, Kai Uno!
"Quick, Tatsumi! Run away!" Maruto yelled.
"Oh no, you won't!" Speed Girl swiped one of the inserted Quirk Bottles, deactivating Tatsumi's power and leaving him without his suit.
They stopped moving, but they skidded across the road due to the sudden change out of the suit before they completely stopped.
"Aah, ouch!" Maruto groaned in pain as he held his ankle.
"Maruto!" Tatsumi stood up. He quickly noticed one of his Quirk Bottles missing. "I got to change into a different form!"
As he got a different bottle out in his hand, something of wind flowed by. He noticed that the Quirk Bottle he had in his hand was gone. He took out another, but then it was gone. He kept doing that until he stopped and turned.
"You really should put some protection on these, so nobody can easily snatch it from you," Speed Girl pointed out.
"Hey, give me those back!" Tatsumi tried to grab the bottle back, but Speed Girl moved away, taunting the boy as he tried to get his bottles back from her.
In the monitor room, Arisa, Kai, and Recovery Girl watched. Arisa had her mouth partially covered as she felt horrible for Maruto and Tatsumi.
"This is not good. Not good at all!" Arisa noted. "Without those Quirk Bottles, Tatsumi can't do anything!"
"She loves to taunt her opponents. She does this all the time, even when we were training when I was a kid," Kai commented. "And Tatsumi's playing into her pace."
"Once you are into your opponent's pace, it becomes difficult to get out of it. While this may look like bullying, what she's doing is very strategic."
"Dah!" Speed Girl karate chopped on Tatsumi's neck from behind, knocking him out completely.
"Now then…" Speed Girl turned to look at Maruto as she looked threatening. "It's you next, Maruto!"
Maruto couldn't help but shake in fear. No matter if he runs or fights, it didn't matter. Speed Girl could catch up to him if he runs. If he opposes her, she could beat him in less than a second, probably. He was so afraid that he was paying attention to the timer.
"What is Maruto doing? He should run or do something!" Arisa said.
"I… I don't know," Kai said.
"The boy's too afraid." The duo looked over at Recovery Girl. "It seems like Maruto-Kun realized just how tough and strong UA teachers, no, real Pro Heroes are. Of course, it is expected, but when you face a real one in battle, a young boy like him would definitely feel fear."
"Wh-What I am gonna do?!" Maruto panicked. "Uh, uwaaaaaahhhhh!"
Speed Girl ran towards her as she had her fist ready, but then Maruto stopped screaming and had put it into motion.
He held out his right hand out, pulling something behind. Speed Girl noticed and quickly stopped herself. She turned around, but by the time she did, something clicked on her wrist.
"Ah, handcuff!" She exclaimed. The buzzer sounded, signaling the end of the exam.
"Team Tatsumi and Maruto wins," the computerized announcer stated.
Arisa and Kai looked proud.
"Alright! They passed!" Arisa cheered.
"I am impressed," Kai commented.
"It seems like Speed Girl wasn't the only one who was taunting," Recovery Girl said. "And here I thought that boy, Maruto was afraid. It was all just an act."
Maruto helped to get Tatsumi up at the city landscape area as he put his partner's arm over his neck for support.
"I am impressed. You tricked me well, but I want to know. Was this all part of a plan?" Speed Girl asked Maruto.
"Yeah, but it was all Tatsumi's idea," he admitted as he grinned. "Just right before the exam begins…"
- Flashback –
"Maruto," Tatsumi spoke as they walked to their exam area. "If anything, I think Speed Girl will most likely stop me."
"What do you mean?" Maruto asked.
"My Mix Quirk allows me to create an item I called the Quirk Bottle, which contained the Quirk I copied by just seeing how the original owner uses it. I bet Speed Girl and other teachers studied and looked over our Quirk in our school file about our entire class and us. She would see me as the most threatening one so that she will come to me first," he explained.
Maruto nodded. "I see. I get it now. Then, what do we supposed to do then?"
"I have a plan. Listen to this," Tatsumi stated as he said something to Maruto.
- Flashback Ends –
"And surprisingly, it worked perfectly. We knew that you would go after Tatsumi first because of his Quirk power, and you thought he would use your SuperSpeed Quirk against you," Maruto said.
Speed Girl smirked, then shrugged. "Well, not bad, you two. I fell for it."
The next match began after the first team was done. The second team was going to start. It was Usagi and Miru, and they were in the forest area. Their opponent was Present Mic, who waited at the front of the goal gate and looking quite upset for being here again.
"Why do I have to be in the forest? Don't they know I hate forests? I hope these kids don't do anything like what those Class A did to me in their final!" Present Mic grumbled to himself.
Kai, Arisa, and Recovery Girl had the perfect view in the monitor room. They could see Usagi and Miru stretching and talking with each other at the gate while Present Mic stood and grumbled at the goal gate, guarding it.
They also noticed a change in the girls' costumes. Miru's yellow helmet had a blue visor. So that they can see her face, and she also now carried with a utility belt around her waist. The rest of her costume was still the usual yellow and white suit.
Usagi's costume was a sleeveless pink and white skin-tight leotard with purple trim around her shoulders and waist, a small, silver crescent moon design over her chest, and two thick metal plates on her midriff. She also wears a pair of long white socks covering most of her leg skin, including her knees, as they revealed very little skin near her crotch area. There was also more metal plating around her heel and toe areas, making her rabbit feet look more mechanical. She also wore a pair of soft, thick white gloves on her hands.
"It is Usagi and Miru's turn. I can't wait to see how they do," Arisa said excitedly.
"Hopefully, nothing like what the Class 1-A team did to him would happen here again," Recovery Girl thought aloud.
Kai overhead Recovery Girl and wondered what she meant by that. "What do you mean, Miss Recovery Girl?"
"Hm, oh, it's nothing. Just speaking out my thought," she shrugged.
The buzzer sounded, starting the second match of the practical exam. "Team Tsubomi and Takeno, practical exam. Ready, go!"
They started dashing into the forest but cautiously moved around by hiding behind the tree to tree.
"Do you see or hear him, Usagi?" Miru asked in a quiet tone, but enough for her partner to hear her.
"Nope," she nodded. "I don't hear him. Maybe he's still far away from us."
"With how big this forest is, I think Present Mic is most likely guarding at the gate," Miru stated. "Though, I expect him to…."
"HEEEEEY YOOOOOOOOOOO!" Present Mic screamed out as a powerful sound wave traveled straight through the trees.
Usagi and Miru covered their ears. "Holy Carrot! What was that?!" Usagi cried.
"It's Present Mic! He's using his Quirk!" Miro exclaimed as she held her ears tight while having just one eye opened and another look closed.
For all of you who don't read the manga or watch the canon anime show, let me explain it here, so I don't have to repeat myself about this ever again. Hero Name: Present Mic. Quirk: Voice. This Quirk allows him to increase the volume of his voice, giving him an ability that is similar to a sonic scream. The speaker he wears around his neck is a directional speaker system, which allows him to amplify his Quirk's powered voice in a specific direction. As much as annoying as it sounds, no pun intended, Present Mic is a formidable opponent and should never be underestimated. "Hey, yo! You forgot to mention my real name, Aizawa," Present Mic spoke up, breaking the fourth wall. "If you want to know, then it is Yamada…."
"Look, there he is!" Usagi yelled as Present Mic quickly noticed her.
"Usagi, no! Don't yell out, or else he will notice us!" Miru warned, but it was too late for that.
"Oops, got to pay back attention," Present Mic said as he turned his focus on the girls. "THEREEE YOOOOUUUUU AAAARRREEE!"
Usagi and Miru were blown away by Present Mic's sound wave attack. They covered their ears.
"Holy Carrot! Makes this stop!" Usagi complained as her ears bleed partially.
"This is not good! If we don't do something, we will fail!" Miru pointed out as the timer on the gate showed that they only have less than 10 minutes left.
"Holy Carrot! We don't have much time left!" Usagi stated as she looked around, and then her eyes widened. "Hey Miru! I got an idea!"
"You do? Then, hopefully, it is something to shut this stupid noise!" Miru exclaimed.
"Just hide somewhere safe and stay still until it is safe!" Miru did just that, running away and hid behind the rock.
Usagi rolled up ears to close them, began running towards the tree, and then screamed at the top of her lung, kicking at the tree.
"Hi-Yah!" Usagi roared as he kicked down a tree.
"What is she up to?" Present Mic said as he watched. "Whatever she is doing, it is FUUUUUTIIIILLEEE!"
Usagi paused for a moment as she tried to withstand the noise. She ignored it and continued with what she's doing.
Kai and Arisa watched, and they didn't know exactly why she was kicking down trees.
"What is she doing with kicking down those trees?" Arisa asked.
"Something tells me she might have an idea, but I don't get it yet," Kai said.
They watched as the fight continued with only five minutes left. They were impressed to see that Usagi knocked down five trees in a row, creating a cloud of clouds of dust. Kai and her partner in the field, Miru, understood what she was doing.
"I get it now!" Both Kai and Miru said.
"What is it, Kai?" Arisa said.
"Bwa, bwa, bah!" Arisa turned her attention back at the monitor, noticing that Present Mic was coughing.
"You think by making all this dirt around will stop me!" Present Mic countered as he was about to use his attack again at Usagi.
Suddenly, Miru came out of the cloud of dirt with her handcuff ready. Present Mic saw her coming. Instead, Present Mic looked at Miru and was about to attack when Usagi jumped in quickly and kicked right on his cheek.
"Bwaaahh!" Spit came out of the teacher's mouth as Usagi knocked him down and caused him to skid before he hit the gate on his head.
"Miru, are you OK?" Usagi asked.
"Um, yeah, Usagi. Thank you, but you just kicked the teacher," Miru said, pointing at the fainted Present Mic, who had a massive bump on his head.
"Team Tsubomi and Takeno wins," the announcer stated.
"Oh yeah! We did it! We passed!" Usagi jumped in joy as she held her hand with Miru, making her jump with her. At the same time, two robots came and picked up Present Mic, carrying him to the nurse's office.
"Woah!" Miru gasped but then smiled and laughed with her.
"Alright, Usagi and Miru passed, too," Arisa said happily.
"It looks like so," Kai said as he grinned a little.
"Good for them, but now I have some work to do. Not only he lost to bugs, but girls, too. So pathetic!" Recovery Girl complained as she headed out through a different door that led to her alternate nurse's office.
Just then, Tatsumi entered the room and joined with Kai and Arisa.
"Hey, did I hear right, but Usagi's Team passed?" Tatsumi asked as he came inside the room.
"Yeah, she did. She and Miru did a good job," Arisa stated.
"Nice! That's four down and ten more to go. If all of us do well, maybe the entire class can pass," Tatsumi hopefully said.
"That would be nice, I admit," Arisa said, hiding her hesitation and worry. Though, deep down, she wasn't sure about it.
"So, who's next?" Tatsumi asked.
"I believe it is Eli and Ai," Kai answered.
The trio stood and watched as the next match was about to begin. Just then, Recovery Girl came back in time.
"Well, that fixes him up for now," Recovery Girl said as she returned to her seat but noticed Tatsumi in the room. "Oh, you did well, young man. Do you need a checkup? Speed Girl did knock you out."
"No, thank you, Miss Recovery Girl. Thank you for asking, but I am fine now," Tatsumi said.
- My Hero Academia –
The third match had begun, and it started terribly for Eli and Ai. They were hanging for their life, and literally, that was what they were doing.
"Yo, how did we end up like this?" Eli complained, hanging on the metal rail.
"Well, it was your idea to pursue Thirteen upfront, and I argue that, but well, here we are," Ai stated as he was hanging on the metal rail, too.
Thirteen's Quirk, Black Hole were sucking them. The force was strong, and Thirteen walked closer and closer to them as the intensity became stronger and stronger. At this rate, they will either lose their grip and get sucked by her power or held on the metal rail until the time runs out.
"Hey Aku!" Ai eyed at his partner. "I have an idea, but it would be risky!"
"I am not afraid to do any risk as long as it can get us out of this situation," Ai said straightforwardly.
Eli didn't know if he was brave or cocky, but he smirked. "Alrighty then! Follow my lead!"
Eli let go of the metal, but not only him but Ai also followed after him. His friends and classmates gasped when they saw what they did.
"What are they doing?! They just let go of the rail, and now they will get sucked by Miss Thirteen!" Arisa screamed.
Thirteen gasped to see two students letting go and heading towards her.
"Sorry to do this, Teach Thirteen, but Stinkbug Fart!" Eli's bottom half of his body turned into the abdomen of a stinkbug and released another horrible smell.
"He used that same horrible move again!" Arisa and Tatsumi gasped.
Thirteen coughed as her eyes felt watery inside her helmet.
"Now, bro!" Eli and Ai tackled down Thirteen together and quickly handcuffed the teacher.
"Team Francesco and Scarano wins," the computerized announcer declared.
"But it did work," Kai pointed out.
"Quite a risky move. Not many Pro Heroes would do such a thing, especially against someone like Thirteen due to her Quirk, but sometimes, heroes need to take some risk. Glad that it paid out well in the end, but something like this won't always happen," Recovery Girl said, almost as indirectly to the three students watching the matches, too.
'Taking risks, huh?' Arisa thought. 'I wonder if I have to do something like that. I mean, back in LA, my friends and I have done something risky, too, but I always afraid to do it at first, and yet for Eli and Ai, they just did it without looking like they were afraid. They are much braver than me…'
The computer announced the next match.
"Team Marvell and Tachimukai. Ready, go!"
Good morning, everyone from USA! Here is another update for My Hero Academia: Line of Good and Evil season 2, starting off the three-day weekend for all non-American people, Memorial Day is our national holiday on next Monday and we have day-off from work, and school on that day.)
This is just one of multiple chapters that I will upload, ending off uploading a multiple chapters on Monday, May 31st.
