A couple of days later, and Phoenix was no longer a little bundle wanting endless cuddles, now he was in the second stage of his development and well and truly mobile. Contrary to Magpie's prediction, Phoenix showed no sign of his past-life memories returning, despite the track record of them coming back around the 48–72-hour mark. His body was developing on target, so he was able to recall basic skills like walking and talking – even his wings were getting stronger, per the norm – but muscle memory was the only recollection he was experiencing.
Mercifully, he still wasn't able to fly as confidently as he used to just yet, and as such, was confined to causing mayhem on foot while his wings regained strength.
And mayhem was the word.
He didn't sleep much – an hour or two at the most – so he was constantly getting into things he shouldn't. Pixal and Zane had begun the habit of only sleeping when Phoenix did, so they could keep a better eye on him; being droids, they didn't need the kind of consistent sleep that their human teammates needed.
Despite these efforts, in the last 12 hours alone, Phoenix had managed to: unlock Lloyd's phone and change the wallpaper (to a picture of himself pulling a silly face), sneak into Kai and Kiku's room and interrupt a mildly private moment between them, and discovered his retractable feet talons, which he used to climb up the wall and attempt to jump on Sensei Wu when he came into the room. To be fair, the old master managed to effortlessly turn and catch the boy at the right moment. Wu was familiar with Phoenix's antics from his younger days and was prepared to overlook them as he had with Lloyd, before the green ninja aged up.
After a short telling-off, where Zane scolded Phoenix for not respecting his surroundings and other people's personal space, Zane and Kai had gone to get supplies to fix the holes that Phoenix's talons had left in the wall. Lloyd joked about picking up some duct tape while they were out, so they could tape the troublesome lad to the ceiling, which Zane responded badly to. He glared at Lloyd and gravely warned him to stay away from Phoenix unless he or Pixal were in the room. Once the ice master was out of earshot, Cole assured Lloyd that it was a simple overreaction, but Lloyd opted to vacate the temple for a few hours regardless; he needed to do some planning for his date with Magpie.
Although he was quite upset after being told off by his dad, Phoenix soon returned to his happy, energetic self. Currently, he was tearing around the temple, trying to use the excess energy he was overflowing with by having a race against Jay. Admittedly, Jay was supposed to be babysitting him while Pixal was doing some posing practice with Nya, Magpie and Kiku, but being the laidback sort, Jay was happy to play chase with Phoenix if it wore him down a bit.
"C'mon Uncle Jay!" He baited. "Y'all are falling behind!"
"No, I'm not, you're just using your wings to help you run faster," Jay retorted with a tired grin. "you're cheating little dude."
"But you're the Master of Lightning! You should be able to keep up with me no problem!" Phoenix taunted.
"Oh, you're gonna pull the elemental card, huh?" Jay smirked, suddenly revitalised by this challenge.
Summoning the electrical energy from within his body, Jay started to catch up with Phoenix, as they ran upstairs, touched the far wall and ran back down again. The two of them were neck and neck, running a repeated lap through the weights room, the living room and the kitchen, then back around to the weights room.
Cole – who was in the weights room – watched with some apprehension as their racing began to get a little too rough. There were several points where either one of them could've slipped, as they ignored stability in favour of speed, so Cole decided to step in.
"Take it easy guys," He warned. "someone's gonna get hurt if you don't calm down a bit."
"Don't worry Uncle Cole, I got this." Phoenix bragged… then promptly tripped over his own bare feet and fell flat on his face.
Jay immediately stopped running and went over to check if Phoenix was okay. The boy was laid out on the floor whimpering, and Cole helped him sit up. Phoenix was sniffling and whining and on the verge of bursting into tears.
"Come on, buddy," Cole smiled reassuringly. "you're okay, no harm done."
"Uh, Cole," Jay whispered, trying not to frighten Phoenix. "you might wanna take a look at his eye."
He tilted his head in confusion, until he realised that Jay was correct for once; Phoenix's right eye was no longer icy blue, now it was bright green.
"Wow, how the hell did that happen?" Cole muttered.
"What's wrong?" Phoenix asked in a panicked tone. "What's happened to my eye?"
"Calm down dude, you're okay." Jay nervously insisted, fearing what Pixal would do to them when she saw this.
Phoenix scrambled onto his feet and darted over to the nearest mirror – the one by the freestanding punching bag. He gasped when he saw the change for himself, and abruptly ran away, slipping past Cole and Jay before they could stop him.
"You're in for it now, Jay," Cole berated as they chased after Phoenix. "you got any last words for Nya before Pixal kills you?"
"Mama!" Phoenix hollered, heading for the meditation room where Pixal was.
Before he even reached it, she had come dashing out to meet him, having heard his pained yelling. Phoenix crashed into her and wrapped his arms around her legs. He looked up at her and she was amazed at the change of eye colour… then realised that for his eye to change colour, he must've hit his head on something.
"Ho-oh!" Pixal squeaked.
"Mama, mama, look!" Phoenix excitedly declared. "Now I got eyes like you and dad!"
Pixal looked up to see Jay and Cole run into the room, and her face turned down into fury.
"You were supposed to be watching him!" Pixal angrily glared at Jay. "What happened?"
"He fell over while we were having a race, it was an accident!" Jay stammered.
"Do you have any idea of the kind of damage you could have inflicted on him? He's only 5, he's still developing!" Pixal bellowed, kneeling down and curling her arms around Phoenix protectively. "I thought I could trust you to be mature and look after him while I was otherwise engaged!"
"I'm sorry! I was only trying to tire him out a bit!" Jay deeply bowed – his eyes locked on the floor. "I thought I wouldn't have to be as careful because he has his healing powers back!"
Pixal's eyes and facial circuits burned red with anger, and smoke started flowing from her ears. Nya facepalmed herself as Jay appeared to be digging himself deeper into trouble with the overprotective droid.
"The fact that he has healing capabilities is irrelevant! This kind of physical alteration is indicative of serious blunt force trauma! How could you be so nonchalant about a head injury?" She yelled.
"Pixal," Magpie murmured. "please, take a deep breath…"
If anyone else had told her that, she would've lashed out at them with equal ferocity, but Magpie was the expert in this situation and Pixal accepted her composure as a sign that everything was alright. She smiled weakly at Phoenix.
"Stand still for me, sweetie…" Pixal requested as she performed a scan of Phoenix's head and sighed in relief. "No serious damage, thank heavens."
"I fixed it myself!" Phoenix announced proudly.
"Fixed what, buddy?" Cole asked curiously.
"The pain in my head," He responded, turning to look at Pixal. "mama, can you get me a drink please?"
"Of course, come with me sweetie." Pixal smiled and lifted him up into her arms.
They made their way into the kitchen and Pixal placed Phoenix on the counter next to the fridge. As Pixal went about mixing the cherry-flavoured supplemental powder with milk, Phoenix lightly fluffed up his wings and looked at the floor somewhat guiltily.
"Mama, why did you get so mad at Uncle Jay?" He innocently asked. "It's not his fault; Uncle Cole tried to warn me that running around was dangerous, but I still did it."
"Because he is the adult, and he should know better; if you were a typical child, and you hit your head so hard that one of your eyes changed colour, the implications could be lethal," Pixal explained. "you're my son, and I want to keep you safe."
"I know," Phoenix noted. "but you shouldn't be mad at Uncle Jay, we were just having fun."
She sighed. He was so mature for his age; how could she argue with his willingness to accept responsibility for his part in the incident?
"Very well, how about we make a deal?" Pixal offered. "I will apologise to Jay, and you will find a more constructive way to manage your energy."
"Does that mean I can go out training with dad?" Phoenix baited hopefully.
Pixal hesitated. She stood there, hand outstretched holding the cup of cherry drink, and made a concerned face. As much as it would be good for Phoenix to get out and learn with the ninja, she was frightened about the possibility of him being hurt by something far worse than tripping over. It made no sense logically – the boy had regenerative powers and could obviously heal himself easily, even at this young of an age – but her fears remained regardless.
"I will discuss it with him later…" Pixal eventually said, as she passed him the cup of pink liquid. "Now make sure you finish this before you go anywhere."
Phoenix held the plastic tumbler with both hands and started drinking. Pixal stroked his silver hair, which was now long enough to tie back into a low ponytail. She couldn't get over how soft and silky it was; one of her favourite things about his napping and bedtime routine was brushing his hair. He also seemed to enjoy it, as he'd always sat perfectly still. Soon, Magpie came into the kitchen.
"Hey Magz!" Phoenix chirped.
"Hey there," Magpie replied. "love the colour change, kid, it looks good on you."
Phoenix chuckled.
"Poor Jay," Magpie stated. "he feels so guilty about what happened."
"I intend to apologize for overreacting," Pixal said. "taking on a motherly role has heightened my paranoia regarding injuries and such."
"I can empathize," Magpie nodded. "I was an absolute wreck the first time I looked after Phoenix during a regeneration, worrying about sickness and wounds that he was perfectly capable of managing by himself at this point."
"I've finished," Phoenix stated, putting the cup down on the counter. "can I go play now mama? I promise not to run indoors anymore..."
"Well... Alright, just be sure to use your energy constructively." Pixal agreed, helping him down from the counter where she had placed him.
"I'll ask Auntie Kiku if she'll let me play on her hoop." Phoenix decided as he ran off.
"My little ho-oh..." Pixal sighed. "I know he is not biologically mine, but he is still my son and I love him."
"You're lucky, he's normally a right little demon; much more mischievous than this," Magpie chuckled. "either he's behaving better for you on purpose, or the delay in memory retrieval is altering his usual personality."
"He wants to go out and train with Zane and the other ninja." Pixal mentioned in a mildly uncomfortable tone.
"I mean, it'll be good for him socially speaking; he's never had this kind of connection before," Magpie admitted. "the only social things I could really do with him were play groups, but he grows up so quick I had to keep going to different ones to prevent suspicion."
"I agree that it would be a good opportunity for him to develop as an individual, but I feel he is too young." Pixal lamented.
"Who is too young for what?"
Pixal and Magpie soon noticed Sensei Wu, as he appeared beside them seemingly out of nowhere. They bowed to the aging master politely.
"Good morning, Pipsqueak!" Magpie giggled.
"Good morning, Sensei, we were just discussing Phoenix's desire to train with his father," Pixal clarified. "although it is a good idea on the surface level, I am concerned about his safety."
"For what it's worth, I was his age when my father started training my brother and I," and I am of course happy to train him, or allow him to shadow Zane," Wu mentioned. "but I won't go against your wishes; you're his mother after all, and what you say, goes."
Pixal's heart swelled to hear herself being described as Phoenix's mum, and she was grateful to Wu for being so willing to take on the little boy and train him as he did with the ninja, but there was a nagging feeling in the back of her mind that he was just too young right now.
"Thank you for offering to train my son, and I am honoured to accept, but I would prefer to wait a little," Pixal determined. "I will feel much more secure in this decision once he has surpassed at least two more 12-hour cycles."
"Very well, I shall inform the ninja of this development once the little one is in bed," Wu smiled. "we don't want him to be so excited that he can't sleep."
Phoenix returned to the living room, where Jay was sitting on the couch looking pretty defeated. Kiku was patting him on the shoulder, trying to comfort him, when she noticed that Phoenix had come back from the kitchen.
"Well, if it isn't Fireball," Kiku grinned. "or maybe I should start calling you Trouble instead!"
Jay looked up to see Phoenix sheepishly standing in front of him. He immediately knelt down to be on Phoenix's level and pulled the lad into a firm hug.
"I'm really sorry, Phoenix, I hope you didn't get too hurt," Jay apologised. "Pixal was right, I should've been watching you, not playing up to your behaviour."
"I'm fine, I can fix a lot of stuff myself," Phoenix insisted, hugging him back. "like, it hurt when it happened but I'm okay now, honest!"
"But what about your eye?" Jay asked.
"I mean, I can fix it, but I don't want to – I look a bit like mama now, and that makes me happy." Phoenix beamed.
"I wonder what Zane's gonna think about it." Kiku pondered.
"Hopefully he won't get mad like Pixal did, I don't think I can handle both of them being angry at me…" Jay lamented.
"That depends," Zane said as he and Kai walked in, having returned from their trip. "what did you do?"
"Daddy!" Phoenix excitedly shouted.
He pulled away from Jay and darted over to Zane, who put down the bag of shopping he was holding and reached over to lift Phoenix up. Zane smiled and propped Phoenix on his hip, ruffling the top of his hair and smiling wider as Phoenix giggled. However, he soon noticed the change in eye colour and frowned.
"Phoenix, what happened to your eye?" He asked in a troubled tone, performing a concise scan. "There's no sign of trauma or loss of tissue, but a change of colour indicates iris damage…"
"Jay helped me change it!" Phoenix blurted out, as Jay froze and immediately began sweating. "Now I look like mama too! Isn't it cool?"
Kai glanced at Jay with wide eyes, wordlessly asking what Phoenix meant by that exactly. After a few moments of tense silence, Zane's frown reverted to the proud smile he had moments before.
"It makes me happy to see elements of your mother in you," Zane stated, briefly touching his forehead to Phoenix's. "have you been a good boy while I was out?"
His face fell, and his wings tilted downwards.
"Well…"
"He hasn't made any more holes in the walls, or tried to jump anyone," Jay teased. "right, dude?"
"And I haven't messed around with anyone's phone either!" Phoenix promised.
"Are you hungry? I can make you something before I start repairing the wall if you are." Zane offered.
"I'm okay thanks, I was gonna ask Auntie Kiku if I could play on her hoop…" Phoenix turned to look at Kiku.
"Of course! C'mon Fireball, let's see how much you remember about hooping!" Kiku grinned.
Zane put Phoenix down, and he ran over to Kiku, who also picked him up and put him on her shoulders.
"You know the deal, if I'm carrying you, you gotta exercise those wings!" She insisted.
Phoenix giggled and played along, wildly flapping his wings as she carted him out of the room and up the stairs.
"And yet she says she's bad with kids." Kai chuckled.
"So," Zane said to Jay calmly. "how did his eye colour change?"
"We were playing – well, racing – and he fell flat on his face in the weights room," Jay confessed. "I'm really sorry, I should've watched him better…"
"I'm assuming that Pixal has already shouted at you, so I won't put on a repeat performance," Zane declared. "in fact, I will thank you for accepting responsibility."
"You're not mad?" Jay baited.
"Do not be fooled by my tranquil manner, I'm absolutely furious," Zane growled. "however, he has restored any internal damage, and is happy with this change in his appearance; besides, it would serve no purpose to lash out at you when Pixal has already done so."
"Thanks," Jay sighed in relief. "I'll do better next time, I swear."
"I'm sure you will..." Zane nodded and wandered away to the kitchen.
Kai drifted over to Jay and patted him on the back.
"Having a kid made those two even more intense than I thought it would," Kai announced. "who knew someone as laidback as Zane could be so scary without trying."
"It's like the angel subroutine is slipping into their regular programming."
"They'll probably go back to normal once Phoenix has," Kai theorised. "but just in case they don't, we should probably speak to Mr Borg about it."
"…Well, it suits him to be honest," Cyrus commented, having been told the reason for Phoenix's sudden heterochromia. "and it's rather nice to see a bit of both of you in him!"
"Thank you," Zane smiled. "we think so too."
"Hey grandpa, look what I have!" Phoenix bragged as he held up one of his feet to the camera.
"Oh, I say; what are those?" Cyrus grinned.
"These are my new talents!" Phoenix beamed.
"Talons, ho-oh, they're called talons." Pixal whispered.
"Yeah, yeah, talons!" He corrected himself. "They're super pointy and I can use them for climbing!"
"How interesting!" Cyrus admired, adjusting his glasses. "I hope you're being careful when you climb; we don't want another colour change incident."
"Don't worry, I was super careful and super quiet," Phoenix nodded. "I tried to surprise the Sensei, but he caught me before I could tackle him!"
"Wow, he's got fast reflexes, hasn't he?" Cyrus added. "It's a good thing he caught you!"
"His talons are so sharp they left holes in the walls," Zane chuckled, patting Phoenix on the head. "Kai helped me fix them this afternoon."
"Phoenix, tell grandpa what you did while daddy was fixing the wall…" Pixal verbally nudged.
"Oh! Oh! Auntie Kiku showed me some cool tricks on her hoop!" Phoenix announced, bouncing in place. "I got to try it as well, it was so much fun!"
"Kiku? Really?" Cyrus raised an eyebrow. "Don't get me wrong, she's improved a lot since the beginning of the year, but she's never been great with children."
"It could be because she knew Phoenix beforehand or because he's growing up much quicker than a regular child," Zane surmised. "but either way she's been affectionate with him from the start."
"Speaking of which, Miru and Hanasu were hoping to come and see Phoenix," Cyrus mentioned. "they've been missing him so much since you came to New Ninjago, are you available tomorrow for a visit?"
"I believe so…" Pixal looked at Zane, as if seeking confirmation. "It would be lovely to see them."
"Excellent! I will let them know that you're free tomorrow!" Cyrus smiled at Phoenix. "They're so eager to see you, dear grandson."
"Thanks grandpa." Phoenix nodded politely.
"Well, I'll leave you to enjoy your evening, thanks for the video call." Cyrus nodded.
"We'll be sure to have another catch up, same time tomorrow." Zane promised.
"Goodnight grandpa!" Phoenix waved both hands.
"Goodnight Phoenix." Cyrus waved back, then hung up the call from his end.
"Mama, who are Miru and Hanasu?" Phoenix asked.
"They are my sisters, just like Kiku," Pixal replied. "they live in New Ninjago with your grandfather."
"More Aunties?" Phoenix gasped.
"Just two," Zane laughed, raising two fingers. "we took you to visit them when you just turned 1, and they were very excited to meet you; it'll be nice to have them visit us."
"Okay Phoenix, time to get ready for sleep." Pixal declared.
"Aw, but I'm not tired!" Phoenix groaned.
"You always say that, but as soon as I start brushing your hair, you become tired." Pixal noted.
"I don't want to sleep right now!"
"This is when you usually sleep, son, and it's important to maintain a routine." Zane insisted.
"Can I please stay up a bit later?" Phoenix pleaded.
"Unfortunately, not; we have visitors coming tomorrow, you need your rest." Pixal countered.
"I'm not tired!" Phoenix whined as he ran out of the room and down the stairs.
Zane and Pixal followed after him, and they soon found him sitting next to Kiku on the sofa. Everyone was hanging out in the living room, taking turns playing a video game, when Phoenix had dashed in and leapt into the minimal gap between Kai and Kiku.
"Come along, it's time to sleep." Zane firmly stated.
"I don't want to go to bed!" Phoenix sniffled, clinging to Kiku's arm.
"You need to sleep Fireball," Kiku told him. "sleep is important."
"I'm not tired…"
Pixal sat on the arm of the sofa next to Kiku, and Kiku helped her move Phoenix from his place on the sofa and into Pixal's lap. Phoenix defiantly sat up straight, even as Pixal attempted to lull him into a more relaxed position.
"You don't normally put up such a fuss, ho-oh, I do not know what has gotten into you." Pixal lamented, petting his hair.
"I just don't wanna sleep…" Phoenix insisted.
"Are you having nightmares, son?" Zane asked.
"No…" Phoenix denied as he rubbed his eyes with his hand.
Magpie was more than familiar with Phoenix's awkward sleeping stage. It was also difficult for her to deal with back in the day, but in the handful of years since she had developed the ability to coax him to sleep, she had been waiting patiently for a time when she could use it on him during the regeneration. She stood up, walked over to Pixal and Phoenix, and knelt on the floor in front of them.
"Pixal, can you use your scanning ability to replicate a skill?" Magpie wondered.
"I do not understand, would you please elaborate?" Pixal requested.
"If I sing for Phoenix, can you replicate the vibrations of my vocal cords to be able to sing as I do?" Magpie explained.
"Yes, I can." Pixal nodded.
"Good, because ever since I learned to sing, Phoenix has relied on me to help him sleep on nights like this," Magpie smiled. "it's a useful skill to have."
Lloyd, who overheard this conversation, immediately became nervous. Magpie's singing had so far always sent him to sleep too, and he really didn't want it to happen in the living room, with everyone watching. At the same time, he couldn't exactly ask her not to sing, because it would come across as suspicious to the others, not to mention potentially hurtful to Magpie.
"Hey guys!" Kiku loudly stated, getting everyone's attention. "Magpie's gonna sing for us!"
"Ooh, we finally get to hear the cabaret? Count me in!" Nya pressed pause on the level she and Cole were currently playing.
"Aww, but I was winning!" Cole objected.
"We can play the game anytime," Nya insisted. "but we have a professional singer here, don't you wanna hear her awesome voice?"
"It would be better if she was in costume too – right Lloyd?" Kai snarked as Kiku playfully thumped him.
Lloyd started blushing, and Jay nudged him with his elbow, making him blush even harder. With a streak of red burning her own cheeks, Magpie redirected her attention to Phoenix as Pixal gently held him close.
"~Go to sleep little baby… Go to sleep little baby…~" She gently sang. "~Your daddy's gone away, and your mama's gonna stay, and sing all day to the baby…~"
Pixal began scanning and tracking the various movements of Magpie's vocal cords as she sang, softly rocking Phoenix in her arms.
"~Go to sleep little baby… Go to sleep little baby…~" Magpie glanced at Lloyd in her peripheral vision. "~I'll take you on a ride, once you close your sleepy eyes, and we'll drift through the skies with the baby…~"
Lloyd could feel that familiar tickle inside his head that he felt the first time she sang for him, and judging by the subtle look she gave him, it was clear that she knew this would put him to sleep. She wasn't being malicious, she was only trying to help her brother – and by extension, Zane and Pixal.
"~Go to sleep little baby… Go to sleep little baby…~" Magpie was surprised to hear Kiku joining in, as the droid grinned at her knowingly. "~Higher in the clouds, is where everything's allowed, don't be scared, look around little baby…~"
Jay tapped Nya on the shoulder and pointed to Lloyd, as the green ninja was trying not to fall asleep – his head dropping a little before he shook his head to try and stay alert. Magpie's dulcet tones were clearly affecting Lloyd, to the point that he eventually fell asleep where he sat. Jay and Nya chuckled among themselves, and Nya gave a small yawn.
"~Go to sleep little baby… Go to sleep little baby…~" Magpie took Phoenix's hand and gently jostled it, only for him to move his hand away defiantly. "~Don't you recognize, there's a swing up in the skies, when you touch the butterflies, little baby…~"
Pixal was finally able to get Phoenix to lean against her while Magpie sang – every lyric relaxing his body no matter how hard he tried to stay sitting upright.
"~Go to sleep little baby…~"
"[Go to sleep you little baby…]" Pixal had opted to join in as a back-up singer to Magpie and Kiku, and the three of them smiled at each other.
"~Go to sleep little baby…~"
"[Go to sleep you little baby…]"
"~Look down at the ground, that's the home you chose and found, follow mama's loving sound little baby…~"
Phoenix was drifting between layers of consciousness, and Magpie could tell it was working, but he was fighting it in a way she had never seen before. Nya, meanwhile, had dropped off and was leaning against Jay, who smiled at how cute she looked and then yawned himself. Kai was rubbing his eyes tiredly, and leaned back against the sofa cushions, while Cole stretched his arms out to relax his body a little bit.
"~Go to sleep little baby…~"
"[Go to sleep you little baby…]"
"~Go to sleep little baby…~"
"[Go to sleep you little baby…]"
"~Now it's time to go, let the angels fly you home, back to everything you know little baby…~" Magpie purred, noting how Phoenix finally started to close his eyes.
Zane watched the three young women as they sang together, and his heart became warm with an inexplicable happiness. He placed his hand on Pixal's shoulder, and she beamed up at him; her eyes alight with love and tenderness, as she softly held the little boy who looked so much like he did in his human form. He knelt beside her and chimed in with them as they sang the final verse.
"~Go to sleep little baby… Go to sleep little baby…~" Magpie grinned at Zane when she heard him singing as well. "~Daddy's coming home, gonna rock you 'til the morning, never let you go little baby…~"
And with that, Phoenix finally let go and drifted into a deep sleep, his body going limp in Pixal's arms. She placed a gentle kiss on his forehead and sighed contentedly.
"Thank you, Magpie," Pixal smiled. "I will analyse this information and apply it to the speech centre of my neural drive."
"You're very welcome," Magpie nodded. "trust me, it works every time!"
"Better than you realise…" Kiku chuckled.
Kiku pointed behind her, and Magpie turned to look at the others. She suddenly felt very embarrassed when she realised that she had put everyone else to sleep as well.
"Oh dear," She stammered. "I didn't expect that to happen."
"I'm definitely taking a picture of this," Kiku declared, using her smartphone to get a group photo of everyone sleeping. "they all look so adorable!"
"I'm rather surprised it didn't work on us also," Zane stated. "but then, we do process sounds a little differently."
"Should we wake them up? Or try to take them upstairs?" Pixal wondered.
"Nah, let them enjoy the extra sleep," Kiku replied, shuffling over and snuggling into Kai. "in fact, I might get some myself…"
Once again, the song is Go to Sleep Little Baby by Niykee Heaton and belongs to her in its entirety.
