Chapter 39: Hawk Moth
Mad Hare shoves Cat Noir so he stumbles away from her. He gets his feet beneath him and pivots to confront her. However, in that fraction of a second, she's gone. Cat Noir is all wired for a fight, but he's completely alone in the white-washed room. He looks around, searching for a threat, but there's nothing. He notices a door and a chute that is way too small to climb through. There's a large, old poncho in the corner. That's all.
Cat Noir tests the door, but it's tightly locked. It's a heavy metal door, but he's not going to let that stop him. He raises his baton and extends it to its full length several times in rapid succession, using it as an impromptu battering ram. He does manage to put some impressive dents in the door and strain the hinges.
That's when Hawk Moth's voice crackles over the PA. "I wouldn't do that if I were you." Cat Noir then notices the camera and the speaker. Cat Noir calls Hawk Moth a coward and demands he show himself and fight fair.
Hawk Moth points out that Cat Noir's in no place to be making demands. Cat Noir argues that it's only a matter of time before he breaks free and Ladybug comes; together, they'll stop him forever. Hawk Moth laughs. He already has Ladybug prisoner. Cat Noir says that that's impossible. However, Hawk Moth switches the mic over. Cat Noir hears a very familiar voice. "Cat Noir? Cat Noir!"
Hawk Moth ends the transmission. Cat Noir demands to speak to Ladybug again and threatens Hawk Moth—"if you so much as hurt her…!" Hawk Moth tells him that he doesn't understand the position he's in. So he'll explain everything very simply and very clearly. Hand over his miraculous, or Ladybug dies. (And this is the first time Hawk Moth says "die" and "kill." It's proof that Hawk Moth's developing trait is heartlessness.) Cat Noir's blood runs cold; he calls Hawk Moth a monster.
Hawk Moth demands the miraculous. Cat Noir is to drop it in the laundry chute. No tricks. Once he has both the ring and the earrings, Ladybug and Cat Noir will be free to go. If they refuse or try to escape or try to pull any other tricks, Hawk Moth will kill the other. He's connected poisonous gas to each room, so if Cat Noir tries anything—well, Ladybug had better be able to hold her breath for a long, long time. How long will she last? After all, in a few minutes, she'll be just a normal girl again.
Cat Noir bellows in fury and lashes out at the door with the claws on his outfit. Hawk Moth tells him to stop. It's not just Ladybug who's his prisoner. The entire underside of the stadium is filled with the minors Mad Hare abducted. If Cat Noir figures out some way to use the Cataclysm again, he's likely to bury them all. Cat Noir stops pounding, but he's still enraged at this low Hawk Moth stooped.
All around Paris, people are glued to the television, wondering what's going to happen next or are demanding action from the government (send in the military/police, don't send in the military/police but the heroes instead etc). Alpha and Firefly are still struggling with the moth senti monster and how it keeps causing damage (to keep them occupied). However, it's quiet at the Eiffel Tower. There's no sign of Ladybug or Cat Noir. Are they going to return? What happened to Mad Hare? What did Hawk Moth mean when he said "it's over"?
Alya Cesaire pulls her attention from her phone. This can't be happening. She needs to be able to help Ladybug. But how? She doesn't have her miraculous. She could start trying to rally the people of Paris like on Heroes Day, but where would they all start looking for the golden duo? And the hostages? How long should she wait? One minute ticks by, then two. She made a promise to Ladybug—to always use her power for the greater good. And now, Ladybug needs her. Alya makes her decision. She at least has to try. She sneaks out the window and grabs her bike and heads to the acupuncture clinic.
Giselle Winters-Blanchet is watching from the television in her bedroom. Her heart nearly stops when Mad Hare abducts Cat Noir. Her fingernails dig into her pillow as she remembers thinking Cat Noir was dead on Heroes Day. As she watched her best friends Meera Pugliese and Raissa Deschamps get akumatized. But she promised…she promised to give up the bracelet. But…But if I don't do something…Cat Noir! Giselle races out of her apartment and runs down the street to Master Fu's.
The clouds break. A downpour starts.
Alpha and Firefly are getting thrown around by the moth kaiju. They're embarrassed and frustrated that it's taking them this long to defeat it. The problem is, they can't find the amokitized item. Alpha realizes that if the moth doesn't have it and Mad Hare is gone—Mayura must be holding it! Firefly looks around. Where did Mayura go? She has to be nearby to control the senti monster, right? They decide to keep their eyes open for where she's hiding without revealing they're looking for her. It isn't easy. That moth is tough—Mayura designed it that way. It's a wall, designed to be slow to defeat and fast to stall.
Alya leaves her bicycle outside the acupuncture clinic and hurries inside, soaking wet. She finds Master Fu, who is watching the events on television. He's very surprised to see someone barge into his house-business. A moment of recognition flickers in his eyes, but Alya wonders if she imagined in. Master Fu asks who she is and how he can help her. Alya decides to throw caution into the wind and use surprise to get an honest answer. So she takes a risk and speaks directly. "Please! This is an emergency! I need to borrow the fox miraculous so I can help Ladybug!"
At the exact same moment the words are leaving her lips, Giselle bursts in, drenched. She's already babbling as she's opening the door. "I'm so sorry. I know I promised. I know I promised to give up my mother's bracelet, but I need it. I need to become Snow Leopard one more time to help Cat Noir!"
Both look horrified as they realize what they blurted out to one of their classmates. They sorta exchange a look. Then Alya guesses: "You're Snow Leopard?" Giselle follows it up with "You're Rena Rouge?"
Master Fu face palms. He could have plausibly denied Alya. He could have deflected Giselle. But with both showing up at the same time and blurting things out like that, his ability to keep things hidden plummeted. He looks at them both, evaluating his options. Then he tells them to come with him.
He takes them into his living room where both sit down on the tatami mat. Alya asks him again, please, can she borrow the fox miraculous? Ladybug and Cat Noir have both been captured; someone has to help them! Master Fu asks Alya what makes her think that he can help. She explains it was by chance, happening to see Ladybug come this way and then Blue Ox made his debut. However, she emphasizes she told no one at all and made sure to delete any photos she had that might give the clinic away. Ladybug and Trixx both trust her, and she wants to live up to that trust.
Master Fu contemplates her words. His eyes shift to the television, still broadcasting that Ladybug and Cat Noir are MIA. There's no sign of her using her world-healing wave either. Master Fu rises and heads to his phonograph where he retrieves the miracle box. He opens it in front of Alya and Giselle, who are stunned by how many miraculous there are.
Master Fu tells Alya to take the fox. Does she know the secret identities of anyone else? The ox or the snake perhaps? If she does, she can deliver their miraculous too. Alya is right; Ladybug and Cat Noir need help. This is a critical emergency. (Master Fu isn't willing to reveal the secret identities he does know to Alya and Giselle). Alya nods. "I do know Carapace." She looks around the case but realizes the turtle slot is empty. Master Fu takes off his own bracelet and gives it to her. Wayzz pops out from behind his back. Alya is surprised to see Wayzz, and they greet each other like friends. She puts on the necklace, and Trixx appears.
Giselle is shocked to see Wayzz and Trixx; she doesn't even know what they are. Alya wonders how Giselle doesn't know when she's Snow Leopard. Master Fu briefly explains that kwamis are allies and the source of power behind the miraculous. However, Giselle's bracelet is different. He's not certain he can return it in good conscience—especially considering Tsukuyomi and Heroes' Day.
Giselle begs. "Please, I have to help Cat Noir. I said good-bye; I thought I could move on. But…But I love him. When I thought he died on Heroes Day, it felt as if my own heart stopped. I don't want to lose him for real. Please, let me help. I love him."
Master Fu falls silent. Logic tells him to refuse the bracelet. However, he remembers a lesson from back when he was a child in the temple of the guardians of the miraculous. "The power of love always so strong." Maybe, just maybe, feelings and determination can overpower Hawk Moth's evil.
Master Fu agrees to return the bracelet and retrieves it from the glass safe, where the bee comb is still housed. As Giselle attaches the bracelet, Master Fu tells them clearly that they are to return the items when this is over and that they are both to never, ever tell another soul. Both promise.
Alya then transforms into Rena Rouge. Giselle is surprised by how kwamis aid the transformation. Rena Rouge asks Giselle how hers works. Giselle tries, but she's rusty and can't. So she asks for a glass of ice water. With the ice element in hand, she's able to transform into Snow Leopard. Rena Rouge notes that it is different, using elements and emotions.
They both head out; it's still raining. Snow Leopard heads right for the moth battle. Rena Rouge promises she'll be there as fast as she can with Carapace.
Ladybug throws her shoulder against the door of the room she's imprisoned in, but she can't budge it. She grasps her Lucky Charm, evaluating everything on hand that she can use to find a solution. The problem is, there's nothing: a door, a chute, a poncho. Hawk Moth is well aware of her ingenuity, so he made sure to leave nothing for her to work with.
He tells her the same thing he told Cat Noir. Surrender her miraculous, or Hawk Moth will kill her partner. Ladybug calls him out, but Hawk Moth links up the PA again. This time, she and Cat Noir are able to exchange a few words to confirm that, indeed, both of them are captured. (Previously, the "Cat Noir? Cat Noir!" Hawk Moth had played to Cat Noir was a recording to bide time until Mad Hare could bring in the real Ladybug. It was a gamble that Hawk Moth won.)
Hawk Moth cuts the conversation between the rooms and turns his attention back to Ladybug. He tells her he isn't completely heartless and directs her attention to the poncho. She can put it on to keep her identity a secret. All he wants is her miraculous. If she gives it up, she can go back to being a normal girl. No one will ever know who she was. She can have a nice, safe life.
Ladybug argues about the rest of Paris. What does Hawk Moth intend to do with both miraculous?! Rule the world? Destroy it? Hawk Moth laughs. He has a far more important goal: his family. Ladybug tries to warn him about the price that comes with the wish, but he cuts the communication then.
It pans quickly to Hawk Moth, who is watching everything from the laundry room. Over his shoulder is Emilie Agreste, lying unconscious on the table.
Alpha and Firefly are dealing with the downpour themselves and are also completely drenched. Fortunately, they've spotted Mayura's hiding place. However, the moth kaiju senti monster has wings so powerful they can't get close. Alpha boosts both their speed, but even that isn't enough. That's when Snow Leopard skates in. She's able to double tap with her blades to create ice that momentarily pins the amok.
Firefly says he knew there was a leopard running around! Snow says she's here to help, and more are coming. The moth breaks free, so all three renew their efforts to deal with it. As they fight, Alpha begins to ask Snow some questions. Does she borrow her miraculous from Ladybug and Cat Noir? Or did she buy it herself? Does she know what a kwami is? Snow replies that her miraculous is more of the latter than the former, and she only learned about kwamis ten minutes ago. Alpha and Firefly cheer; yes! She's one of us! Snow has no idea what they're talking about. Alpha explains that discovering her superpowers must have been confusing and maybe a bit scary and definitely overwhelming. His pack can help her; it was the same for them. Snow is surprised by the random offer but intrigued; however, she promised to return the bracelet. She tells them that this is the last time she'll ever be Snow Leopard.
However, she gets cut off by the moth before she can truly explain and before Alpha and Firefly can explain to her about the B Team. With a third member, they're able to make progress as Snow freezes it in place, allowing Alpha and Firefly to get some blows in.
Alpha is the one who notices Rena Rouge and Carapace approaching. He's quick thinking and motions for them to stay hidden. He then alerts them to Mayura's hiding place. They get the hint and launch a surprise attack against Mayura.
This flushes her out in the open. She fights back. However, Carapace and Rena Rouge don't target her; they target the item in her hand. Rena Rouge is able to steal it and break it. This frees the amok and causes the moth to disappear. Mayura grumbles and preps her fan. All five heroes surround her, ready to fight. In order to save on energy, Mayura snaps her fingers and destroys the amok feather herself. She knows it'll take all she has to continue to delay five heroes while Hawk Moth completes the final phase of his plan. I had hoped to do better at preventing allies from showing up…
Still trapped in the room, Cat Noir's timer has blipped out, causing him to turn back into Adrien Agreste. He's put the poncho on beforehand to protect his identity. He's now feeding Plagg, discussing in a low voice what to do. One thing is going their way—since Plagg is a kwami, the security camera and PA system can't see or hear him.
Once he's refreshed, Plagg points out that he can go through walls. Adrien tells him to do so and to hurry. See how much of Hawk Moth's threats are true, see if he can find a key or unlock the door, and see if he can find where Ladybug is. Plagg agrees and flies off. Adrien bides his time, trying not to panic about being alone in a locked room.
Plagg first checks the door. Locked electronically. There's no way he can open it. (This is yet something else Gabriel Agreste and Nathalie Sancoeur took into consideration as they knew about kwamis from Nooroo and Duusuu.) Plagg then scans the outside of the room's walls. He finds two small pipes leading into the room and follows them back to their source: two containers of carbon monoxide. Plagg gulps. Adrien is in real danger; Hawk Moth wasn't bluffing about killing him.
Plagg hurries off, going through wall after wall. He darts through some of the rooms holding prisoners, confirming that Hawk Moth was telling the truth there too. Chris Lahiffe is whining that he's bored. Ondine is comforting Manon Chamack, who's crying. Stella Tenebrae is doing stretches as there's not much else she and the others in the room can do to keep themselves occupied. Samidare Asui is taking a nap.
Plagg keeps going, finding Ladybug's room a decent distance away from Cat Noir's. She's happy to see him even though it means Cat Noir is still caught. She asks Plagg what he saw, and Plagg fills her in, confirming that both her and Cat Noir's rooms are indeed connected to poison gas.
Mayura does her best to dodge and strike at the five young heroes, but she is losing ground. Rain pours off her back. The team is keeping up the pressure, just as Mad Hare did, and not allowing Mayura any time to create a senti monster. That only leaves her with her augmented strength and speed. Fortunately, as Nathalie, she's a trained martial artist. But the B Team has been practicing and even Rena Rouge and Carapace are gaining experience. They corner Mayura, demanding to know where Hawk Moth is keeping everyone prisoner.
Mayura is prepared to "take that secret to her grave" metaphorically speaking. However, that becomes true more than she realizes when she doubles over in a coughing fit from exerting herself by using a broken miraculous. Snow, Carapace, and Rena Rouge are surprised and concerned by this as Mayura seems to be in genuine pain. Firefly approaches regardless and demands to know where Ladybug is.
Hawk Moth uses his remote communication skill and tells Mayura to withdraw. She's done enough; she can't take any further risk. She says she can still handle it, but Hawk Moth tells her to stop. He orders her to go to the final meeting point and wait. Mayura says she understands.
The B Team overhears at least Mayura's side of the conversation and says they won't let her leave until they know where Ladybug and Cat Noir are. Mayura takes a pose to continue fighting, to which Carapace tells her "that's not a good idea, dudette." However, it's a feint. Mayura summons a storm of feathers as a blind and escapes through them.
The B Team is very frustrated when they realize that she got away and that they lost her trail. Rena Rouge holds up their only clue: the broken item Mayura used to hold the amok. Carapace perks. He's seen something like that before—the stadium! It's the only place in Paris that would sell something like that (whatever the item is). Firefly points out the soccer stadium would be big enough to hold a bunch of missing people.
With nothing else to go on, they all race in that direction. Rena Rouge can leap and uses her flute as a pole vault; Snow ice skates by creating her own ice; Alpha leaps and runs with his own strength; Firefly flies with his jetpack. Carapace has to catch a ride with Rena Rouge. As seen from above, they notice the soccer field and stands themselves are empty. Snow wonders if this really is the right place. Alpha confirms it is. He points; they have a welcoming committee.
Mad Hare is waiting in the shelter of the front gate for them. Rain continues to fall.
Inside Ladybug's prison, she's also transformed back into Marinette Dupin-Cheng as her timer ran out. Like Cat Noir, she also put on the poncho to protect her identity. As she feeds Tikki, the three of them try to figure out a plan. Marinette considers all the contents of her purse as well as the broken Lucky Charm. But the walls are too thick, the doors are too heavy, and the situation with the hostages is too unstable. Tikki tells her not to give up. Marinette is an optimistic person who always has a plan. Plagg suggests Marinette try transforming again, but Marinette points out that the moment Hawk Moth sees and hears her try, he'll kill Cat Noir. She holds the broken Lucky Charm. If only they knew what was going on outside. Did the B Team beat mothra, Mayura, and Mad Hare yet? Could they?
With time running out for Hawk Moth as the B Team is just outside his headquarters, he knows he has to put the pressure on Ladybug and Cat Noir. He tells them over the PA that they have two minutes left. If both miraculous aren't in his hands by then, he'll kill their partner. The same will happen if they try to trick him with fake miraculous again (as in Dark Owl).
Marinette feels the anxiety rise as she's running out of time. She has to chance it. She throws the broken Lucky Charm up in the air to perform her world-healing wave. It bounces off the ceiling without effect. It truly is broken (even moreso than in Surrealist). Both kwamis are clearly fearful of this result. Marinette runs her hands across the walls, searching for something, anything. She also tells Plagg to go back to Cat Noir—tell him everything, see if he can do something. Plagg doesn't need to be told twice. He takes off at full flight speed, retracing his path, trying not to get lost and thus waste time.
As Plagg re-enters Cat Noir's prison, he realizes Adrien Agreste has his back to him. Plagg instantly begins blabbing, explaining Ladybug is safe but captured and that the threat of poisonous gas is real. There's other hostages and...Plagg trails off; he realizes Adrien has his hands on his ring.
Plagg begs him not to. Adrien tells him that Plagg has been (one of) the best friend(s) he's ever had. He genuinely doesn't want to give Plagg up…but he loves Ladybug. He can't let Hawk Moth hurt her. Plagg pleads with him to stop, but Adrien says good-bye as he takes off the ring. The last thing Plagg sees as he's pulled into the miraculous is Adrien dropping the ring down the laundry chute.
Mad Hare proves to be more difficult than Mayura for the five heroes to face. Her spam teleport is just that ridiculously fast. The group tries to get Carapace and Rena Rouge passed her while the others hold her off, but it doesn't work. Snow tries to trip her up on slippery ice, but Mad Hare just telelport-skips across it. Carapace aims to trap her in a barrier, but Rena Rouge stops him. Mad Hare would just teleport out, and then he'd be stuck on his time limit—and they're likely not going to get a chance to feed their kwamis in the middle of this fight. Alpha tells them he can always refill their counters with his Howl (which he may even demonstrate during the course of events). Snow is baffled by their talk of special abilities. Firefly asks her about hers, but she doesn't know. Alpha says that's the first thing they'll work on when Snow joins the B Team for training. Snow doesn't think that's going to happen because of her promise.
However, Snow does decide it's time she tries to see if she has a special ability too. As she evades Mayura, she focuses on the rhythm of her blades and the chilly power running through her. With a slicing spin, Snow actives Frost Fall. The rain turns into snow participles that hang suspended in the air. A snowflake emblem adorns everyone she recognizes as an ally. Those without emblems find their senses numbed as sleep overwhelms them. Mad Hare gets hit hard, and her reflex speed instantly plummets. She fights to stay conscious, but the heroes take advantage of her slow down.
Rena Rouge sees her chance. She casts an illusion of all the supporting heroes joining them: Blue Ox, Minimouse, King Monkey, Viperion, Pegasus, Kamaitachi, Ryuko, Dauphin, Dauphine, Froppy, and Tsukuyomi. (It's a bit surreal for Alpha to see Viperion). The illusion heroes all take their places, ready to fight. Vision blurring, Mad Hare does her best to counter the fake heroes while the heroes present intermingle.
Hawk Moth tells Ladybug/Marinette that she only has thirty seconds left. (Hawk Moth really doesn't want to kill anyone, but if he has to in order to save his wife…He figures he can gas the heroes and take their miraculous from their dead bodies if he absolutely has no other option.) Marinette is hitting her despair point. How can there not be any possible plan? There's always a way. Tikki does her best to comfort her, telling Marinette she's not alone. "Maybe there's not a way now, but an opportunity will surely present itself. Never give up." Marinette looks up at Tikki; how can she make the choice between two friends? Tikki tells her to do what's right—what her heart tells her.
Marinette starts crying; tears just fall down her face. She hugs Tikki close. She tells Tikki that she's more than a friend; she's an irreplaceable partner. No matter what, Marinette promises she won't give up. She'll find a way to rescue Tikki. This isn't the end. Tikki says "I know" as Marinette takes off the earrings and drops them down the chute.
Outside, Mad Hare suddenly stops her movements. The B Team is wary, but they approach her. She shakes her head as if trying to clear it. Then, she teleports away. This time, she doesn't reappear. The group waits for a moment, expecting an ambush. They're confused as to what happened. However, they're not going to waste the opportunity. They race into the stadium. Alpha orders everyone to spread out and start searching for the missing people.
On the outskirts of Paris, Mad Hare lands from her teleport. The akuma vanishes from her, reverting her back into adult Bunnyx. She's disoriented, wondering what happened and where she is. Mayura steps forward, ready to fight despite her battered condition. Mayura tells Bunnyx she has one last order: keep Bunnyx distracted until Hawk Moth is finished. Bunnyx is still a threat as she can travel through time and/or travel back to the stadium and stop things. The two clash.
Meanwhile, Adrien is alone in the locked room. He's sitting on the floor, hugging his knees, humming to himself. Fortunately he's humming so soft that the PA doesn't pick up the familiar melody. This is his worst fear come true: alone, imprisoned, hopeless. All he can think of is one person. Please Ladybug, don't give up your miraculous! It doesn't matter what happens to me. You have to stop Hawk Moth! Save Paris, and then live safe and happy. I love you.
In the laundry room of the stadium, Hawk Moth detransforms back into Gabriel Agreste. This includes intentionally breaking control over Bunnyx as he needs all the strength he can muster for what comes next. He puts on the ring and the earrings (does that mean Gabriel also has his ears pierced or can they be clip-ons depending on the wielder?) This causes Tikki and Plagg to appear.
Tikki notices Nooroo first. She darts over and embraces the long-lost kwami in a giant hug. She's so glad to see Nooroo is safe. Nooroo whispers that none of them are safe.
Plagg notices Gabriel first, and he's petrified. Adrien's dad is Hawk Moth?! It's fortunate that kwamis cannot reveal secret identities; the magic glues Plagg's mouth shut; otherwise, he would have blown in right there. Regardless though, when Plagg sees the cold, triumphant gleam in Gabriel's eyes, he starts trembling.
Gabriel boasts aloud that after all the hard work, all the failures, he'll finally get his wish. That's when Tikki and Plagg notice the unconscious Emilie on the table. Tikki remarks that she's beautiful. Plagg whimpers a "what's going on?" kind of question. Gabriel explains that with their miraculous, he will wish for his wife to be conscious and healthy again.
Tikki tries to warn him that it's a bad idea; all wishes come with a price. However, Gabriel cuts her off before she can finish her warning. Since he is now the master of the earrings, Tikki is forced to obey his commands and can't tell him about the risk. However, she does counter that it doesn't work like that. He has to know The Incantation. Without it, the miraculous will just be miraculous.
Plagg tries to summon his courage. He adds on that even kwamis don't know The Incantation, so it's useless to try to bully it out of them. Gabriel smiles darkly. He already knows The Incantation as he got it from Mad Hare. In that moment, Tikki and Plagg realize how deep of trouble both are in. They're afraid.
"I will soon gain absolute power, so I will be called Absolute. Tikki. Plagg. Unify."
The B Team searches the PA box, the players' area, the staff only areas for the stores and restaurants. In the latter, they find adult members of the staff locked up. The team helps free them. Next, they make their way to the lower levels of the stadium and begin to find the rooms containing the kidnapped minors. (At some point, it might be necessary for Rena Rouge and Carapace to slip into a bathroom and recharge Trixx and Wayzz or to get recharged via Alpha and his Howl.) Without any keys, Firefly says he can blast the doors open. Alpha tells him that might hurt the people on the other side. Snow reveals she can expand her ice to lift the doors off their hinges much easier.
They begin to help people escape. Once the first few rooms are empty, those freed make their way above ground where they can get reception and begin to call the police, the news, friends, and family. The B Team keeps looking for more people. They try to find out where Ladybug and Cat Noir are; they're also prepared to fight Hawk Moth himself at any time.
Emilie Agreste stirs. Her eyes open. Nearby, Gabriel dissolves his Absolute unified form. Tikki and Plagg collapse onto the table, gasping for breath. Nooroo flies over to them, but they vanish when he touches them. Tears just pour down Gabriel's face as he takes his wife's hand. Their eyes lock. She asks him where they are. Where's Adrien? What happened? It feels like it's been a long time. He wraps his arms around her in a tight embrace and doesn't let her go.
Adrien is pacing in the room that imprisons him. The poncho covers him still. He's so anxious he's sick to his stomach. But then he staggers. His vision swims. His feet and hands tingle; his arms and legs go numb. His heart burns. Adrien collapses as he loses conscious. He cries out as he claws at the ground. "Ladybug? Plagg? Father? Anyone? Help…"
