Warnings; Primarily a duel chapter so I hope you enjoy =)

(Last Time On The Previous Chapter Of Yu-Gi-Oh Re: Seize. . .!)

"Well, I would be surprised if you weren't. You two pretty much weren't taking any prisoners today," Travis laughed.

"Mhm well, Arata seemed way more merciless than I was," Seirus chuckled, his hands finding themselves resting behind his head, "Though, it's a shame Lucky didn't make it. Then we would have had a trio. He probably got really caught up in some family business or something so I don't blame him."

As they silently agreed on that, Seirus seemed to have finally clicked onto something before turning to Steria who seemed to be in thought. However, she wasn't so far gone as to not notice him suddenly locking her eyes onto hers, "Wh-what!?"

"Ah, my bad. I was just wondering why you didn't join in on the duels as well?" He cheerfully asked.

Her eyes widened a bit before reverting back into an annoyed frown that really made Seirus wonder if she was either still holding a bit of a grudge or well. . .perhaps it's best not to assume that just yet. Needless to say, she quickly answered his question with logic, "Of course I wouldn't. If I did I would have brought too much attention and Neferious would learn of my location a lot quicker."

"Ah, that makes sense," Seirus said before turning back to face the setting sun from afar. As though on cue, the wind began to blow past his face as he smiled forward, "Bummer, and here I was hoping that we could have a rematch. I bet it would have been a lot of fun, too."

Unknowingly to him, he didn't notice her expression going soft with a mix of surprise at his comment. The words that said before replayed in her head as his actions and remarks match perfectly with the conversation they had before. Though, from another person's perspective, it didn't seem to sink in well with how docile she was being in response to that. More specifically, Rena frowned and went over to Seirus before pinching him in his thigh which sent a jolt of pain all over his body. His face cringed due to the pain as he let out a screech between his clenched teeth.

"Nghaaaaaaa! OW! OW! OW! OW! What the heeeeeeeck!" Seirus cried with Rena's grip still as tight as ever.

The female bodyguard student glared at him, "Are you trying to embarrass the princess in front of her own citizens as well, Yuzaki? Last time you were lucky but to think you would get so cocky because of a victory is as low as I expected you to be."

"Araggh, tha-that's not what I said-! OOOOOW!" the Nexus duelist grunted with his words as her pinch somehow managed to get even tighter.

"Speak clearly now, Yuzaki. Otherwise, you're not helping your case," Rena frowned.

Baring with the pain, Seirus knew that this fellow wasn't particularly one to be rational when it comes to Steria. Though, he still felt the need to point out, "I would if you weren't trying to rip off my skin! God, now I am wondering how Travis didn't get surgery at this point!"

"Who said I didn't, heheh?" Travis asked with a chuckle, "Our little miss here nearly dislocated my shoulder once. If I remember, everyone during middle school compared her strength to a gorilla-! GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!"

Just as soon as that remark was made, Rena released her grip on Seirus and immediately went to put Travis into an armlock. The speed she did it at was impressive to say the least which led Seirus to believe that maybe Neferious is the one who needs protection from her. Though feeling sympathetic for the poor lad who was desperately calling mercy, the Nexus duelist along with Arata and Sho who were both amused yet scared tried to pry her off him before his arm snapped like a twig. However, despite the fact that someone was about to lose an arm, the whole scene was just as light-hearted as Steria expected it to be. Especially since Rena was just doting as an overprotective mother when it comes to her. Be that as it may, she was beginning to warm up just a bit. Perhaps, maybe she was over complicating things.

As soon as she took a step forward to do what she typically does when something like this happens which is to her end is calling off her attack dog, Seirus took notice of her single footstep that made a sound. Yes, only in just an instant did he hear her feet make their way towards her as his face seemed to have slowly morphed from a strange enthusiasm from what an oblivious old lady would call "play fighting" to a wide eyed expression of complete shock. Initially, one would think it is because Rena actually managed to snap the poor man's arm which to any normal teenager watching would be sick to their stomachs or surprise. But, there was no sound of a bone snapping in two so it couldn't be that. Everything was happening in slow motion, the surroundings of tired shop owners closing their markets while other stores began to set up shop during the night, the clouds moving slower as the winds began to pick up speed in contrast. Steria's somewhat confused expression as suddenly she felt an arm wrap around her waist. But most of all, a dark cloak figure whose face was hidden by the darkness of its hood was staring back at him. Then, in an instant, the figure's arm stuck out from beneath the cloak showing a Solid Vision Blade Duel Disk that looked to be dark-purplish red and jagged like a bat's wings. The center of the disk had an orange orb with a slitted pupil to indicate an eye. It didn't take him even a fraction of a second to realize what was happening.

Before the Nexus duelist knew it, he stood turned all his attention away from trying to pry Rena off while the others were distracted. It was as if his body moved on it's own, his feet almost immediately sprinting towards them with an outstretched hand. It was a good thing they weren't too far away from each other, however, the orb from the mysterious figure's duel disk began to glow and with that, Seirus desperately let out a cry, "No. . .STERIA!" He outstretched his hand to her in hopes to grab it as the light grew brighter. He was sure if he would make it or not but in response to his call, the Astraea princess did the only thing she could do; she reached out her hand to him with the two grabbing onto each other before the light completely consumed them both. Then. . .before the remainder of Group C could react. . .they were gone without a trace left behind. . .

(Continuing From Where Last Chapter Left Off With Sho Marufuju And The Others. . .)

They all couldn't believe their eyes. . .just what in the hell happened. Just one minute they were having the strangest form of fun and then all of a sudden, before they could so much as realize what happened, both Seirus and Steria were gone in just a flash of light. All because of a cloak figure that had managed to slip through their radar and bypass all forms of awareness. Everyone was stunned, including the people who were just minding their own business at what transpired. But knowing that just pondering about it was pointless, Sho couldn't help but become visibly irritated.

"Damn. . .just my luck! The chancellor is going to have my paycheck because of this!" Sho lamented.

On the other hand, Rena was in full panic mode, her hands releasing their grip around Travis's arm in order to get a better look at his reaction. It was no surprise that he was just about as shocked as she was, her lips quivering with fear, "Tr-Travis. . .the princess. . .she. . ."

"Yeah. . ." The male student bodyguard grimaced without denial, "That was definitely a Neferious member. But, how? How did he manage to sneak up on us while in a public area? Surely someone around here would have been suspicious of something before he committed the act!"

"There's no time to contemplate, we have to hurry and find them! I'll head back to the hotel to notify authorities! You three, regroup with Lucky on the way back and do me a favor; search for them! They couldn't have gone far!" demanded, his feet quickly picking up pace as a scowl was clearly on his face. This was the first time they ever saw him pissed off, which was actually scary up close, "Whether they are the princess of a country or a slacker in class, they will wish the day their end comes early for kidnapping students of mine! I'll be counting on you!"

Without wasting more time, the now enraged school teacher took off running as fast as he could; thus leaving the students to accomplish the favor with much of a choice. The two Astraea bodyguards looked at each other and nodded, knowing full well that this was what they were preparing for since they took up the job of being by her side. However, on the other hand, Arata was about the calmest person there. He knew that the situation had gone dire faster than he expected but on the off hand it could've been worse.

"Rena, he's right, we should make haste now," Travis said

His female partner nodded in agreement, her face mixed with determination and anger, "You're right, for the princess's sake; the faster we find her the better!"

"You're both right," Arata remarked, gaining their attention for them to realize how calm he was. Nevertheless, he faced forward and began walking past them as though he were the leader at this very moment. He smirked, turning back to them in order to quell their worries, "Do be rest assured, we'll find her. Not only that, she is at least not alone. They'll probably have to get past him first in order to get to her."

Realizing this, the possibility of having more time before the very thing they are after is taken was assuring to say the least. But, knowing of a chance of their fears coming to fruition, the remaining Duel Academy students steeled their resolve and sprinted forth in hopes to prevent such a misfortunate future.

(Somewhere Around The Same Time, In The Mythic Forest Of Iduna City Outskirts . . .)

The famous Iduna City forest and one of the most popular tourist attractions that is restricted to even their citizens as only a select few are allowed to enter this place. Despite that, the forest is mostly famous for it's once a month phenomenon where the tree's leaves change into a purplish-blue color that glows with the full-moon. However, as of right now, the leaves remain mostly purple as the winds rustle the trees. The sun was already leaving the sky and the moon was finally becoming the new source of light. A light that allowed for a peculiar waterfall whose waters seemed to glow along the river below as fireflies danced to the sound of water crashing. So far, all of this seems strange and bundle of natural life that any scientist would kill to study, but perhaps the strangest thing was that in the center of the river was a circular, white stone structure that forced the waters to part paths with several more smaller version of itself being a path to the other side. Be as it may be, it almost felt like a sacred ground of some form. One that shouldn't be disturb. . .well until a bright orange light glowed in the center of the ring before spewing out three shadows. One singular figure seemed to have leapt back graciously and cautiously, it's cloak flowing with the wind created by the force of his leap. On the other hand, the other two figures looked to have collided into each other with one being a shield for the other as it's back skid against the rather smooth surface. Nevertheless, it hurt and his hand was holding another's tightly without realizing it. Soon enough the light settled down, permitting the now visible boy to open his eyes to see the princess burying her face into his chest.

He sighed, grunting before smirking, "Phew, I gotcha! You alright, Steria?" She didn't necessarily respond immediately as her body was shaking out of fear. Though, eventually she came to realize the familiar voice of someone she actually associated with a bit and looked up to see the pair of knowable green eyes that seemed relieved. But, at the same time, she also noticed they were notably closer than she was used to before finally coming to notice the position she was in. His hand grasping hers while his other arms wrapped around her in order to keep her close and still along with the fact that as of right now, she was on top of him. . .it all took less than a second for her to react as she immediate pulled back and straighten herself out of embarrassment.

"Wh-what do you think, you're doing!" She stuttered, leaving the Nexus duelist a bit confused.

"Umm. . ., reflex I guess. We did sorta get shot out of cannon or something so I figured that we might hit the ground, so I shielded you from the fall. Well. . .at least that's what it felt like, heheh!" Seirus explained.

Flushed, the Astraea princess calmed down a bit and realized quickly that she was now sitting on top of him. In a panic, she got off him and sat on the ground with her knees inward and feet outward, her head down in hopes he wouldn't notice how red she was, "I-I see. . .I suppose I have to say. . .thank you?" Taking the chance to keep the mood lightened a bit longer, the Nexus duelist rose up and rested his arm off his knee, completely oblivious to the reason why she was embarrassed before making a joke.

"Good to know you are learning," Seirus remarked before turning his eyes to the cloaked figure who was dusting himself off. A frown formed on his face as soon as he got a good guess on what the kidnapper wanted, "But, we got bigger things to worry about. Aren't I right?"

The cloak figure momentarily stopped dusting himself off and took notice of the boy's rather fierce eyes as his primary target was still fumbling with her thoughts. Though, after realizing that he somehow allowed for someone like Seirus to track him down, he chuckled, "How amusing, to think a child like you managed to grab on just in time. But you're right, I should be the number 1 issue right now so I am sorry to have ruined your little moment."

"Moment?" Seirus wondered but he could care less what the cloaked figure was assuming much to Steria's distress of someone else witnessing all that, "I don't know what you're talking about but I really don't care. I'm more interested in how you snuck up on us."

Amused, the mysterious figure laughed, showcasing the Duel Disk from before as well as a diamond shaped object made of black metal, "Well, I'll indulge you since you're curious. You see, recently we've been supplied with some neat useful equipment; one being a cloaking device that makes us invisible and a teleportation function in our Duel Disks to locations that have this neat little thing implanted in the ground. Unfortunately, it's a one time use but it was enough to get the job done."

"I see, and you probably found us by chance I assume?" Seirus nervously smirked.

"Likewise, ever since I saw you and your friends enter the Duel Colosseum. After that, all I needed to do was wait for the perfect moment to strike but honestly, to think Duel Academy would secretly miss princess over there without a public announcement. My, the Astraea family must be shivering in their boots when it comes to us!" He cackled hysterically with a hand over his face.

As he let out his amused laughter to the forest where no one will come for a while, Seirus couldn't help but grin a bit before standing up. He dusted off his pants as he remarked back, "Well, whether that is true or not doesn't apply to me so I'm sorry to burst your bubble pal; you and your friends don't even scare me in the slightest." That said, Seirus got his Duel Disk ready to go, the Solid Vision Blade activating as he set his real deck into place seeing that no one was around and they were practically alone.

"Hahahah, hoh. . .?" The cloak man said amidst a chuckle, removing his hand, "Don't tell me you're going to duel me? Listen boy, I'm not interested in you. The princess quivering over there is the one I'm after so please do me the favor and sit by and watch. You don't know what you're getting yourself into."

"Not gonna happen. I made a promise so you'll have to get through me first. Besides, I've already dealt with some of your friends before back home so what's one more?" Seirus smirked.

Curious, the cloaked figure seemed intrigued by that statement, "Oh, that means you are one of those pesky Duel Academy students that defeated Inzata and Gogenta? We've gotten reports of their defeat but my, my, to think I'd run into you here. I suppose as their superior, it's my job to avenge them, right. . .?" Without hesitation, the cloaked man removed his hood and unraveled his Duel Disk before inserting his deck. His spiky hair was a deep, dark red with a hint of orange on the four prolonged bangs that hung over his forehead. His eyes were a ruby as he grinned at the Nexus duelist in front of him. From the light provided by the moon and shining waters, beneath his cloak was a long dark-red button up shirt that went well with his black pants and shoes.

Steria watched as the two square off with her finally realizing what was about to go down. With a sense of worry and guilt, she felt the need to say something before things escalated to that point. . .; she didn't want to push the possibility of getting hurt or worse on someone else, "Wait, Seirus don't! Let me duel! He's after me so there's no need for you to put yourself at risk!"

"Perhaps, but. . ." Seirus murmured, his eyes still filled with a fighting spirit that went unwavered before grinning "This is just something I feel like doing. So please, stand back and watch. Okay!?"

Her eyes widened at how simple minded and irrational he was being. Even in the face of such a threat he still wants to duel. . .does he not think things through? Where was his logic? Is he really willing to lay down his life unknowingly? She was stumped, silenced by his narrow mindedness as Seirus began to walk closer towards his opponent. The man smirked, chuckling at the naivetes of the boy.

"Goodness, aren't we a white-knight in shining armor? You should have heeded her warning; that was your only out from all this. This duel isn't going to be your typical duel, you know?" He warned.

The Nexus duelist smirked back at him, "Been there, done that. It's not my first time and besides, with your type of confidence then you must be a strong duelist."

"Strong? That word doesn't begin to describe me. You should know that us executives are not to be messed with, boy." He said as though he were correcting him.

"Executive?" Seirus muttered, repeating the word as it clicked.

The cloaked man grin slyly, his eyes narrowing in, "Yes, the position given to the strongest members of Neferious. You could call me Executive Ludo."

"Ludo, huh?" Seirus repeated in a rather eager tone, "Probably won't need to remember it after this is all settled. Now, let's get this started, I want first dibs on class dinner for the golden teriyaki ribs!"

"Cocky are we!? Very well, then let our grand duel commence boy!" Ludo announced while reaching into his sleeve to pull out a glowing orange card shrouded in a dark fog. He spun the card between his fingers playfully before throwing it into the center of the make-shift duel ring with the card sinking into the stone completely with ripples of darkness stretching beneath their feet. Before they knew it, the Duel Ring was suddenly surrounded by some form of transparent barrier made of light that emitted particles of energy outward. With the stage set, the two drew their cards before commencing the start of their battle simultaneously.

"Duel!"

Turn 1: Seirus Yuzaki, 5 cards in hand, 0 cards on field, 0 cards in graveyard, 0 cards banished

Seirus's LP: 8000

Ludo's LP: 8000

Examining his hand, Seirus began thinking about his moves a little bit carefully, "Do I strike fast. . .no, even though he has no clue as to what my deck is capable of, neither do I. It's probably best to wait and see. . .but that doesn't mean I can go in for some early damage!" After contemplating, he decided the best course of action with his first move.

"I'll start things off by summoning Nexus Hero, Lone Shooter!" Seirus announced, his monster clad in silverish blue and yellow armor that resembled a wolf while his gauntlet had a revolver built into it as well as a cannon equipped on his other arm.

(Lvl 4 Earth: Nexus Hero, Lone Shooter, 1800ATK/1200DEF)

Ludo's eyes widened with surprise, "Nexus? That's something I haven't heard before? I suppose that deck you were playing with before wasn't your real one."

"Heh, so you were studying us from afar as well. Too bad, but count yourself lucky. You get to face it first hand!" Seirus declared discarding a card from his hand, "Now, I activate Lone Shooter's effect! By sending 1 Nexus monster from my hand to the graveyard, I can then inflict 100x points of damage for each of that monster's level! The monster I sent was my level 4 Nexus Beast, Turbulent Cerberus! Meaning you will now take 400 points as damage! Have at it, Rampant Gunner!"

Just as he said, Lone Shooter pointed his gauntlet gun at Ludo and began unleashing a barrage of energy bullet at him that struck him all over; earning winces of pain that went unnoticed by the Nexus duelist.

Ludo's LP: 8000 → 7600

"That's not all! Because since I control a Nexus monster whose ATK is less than 1900, I can Special Summon my Nexus Crystal Pixie from my hand up to twice per turn!" Seirus explained, his monster resembling a fairy with crystal wings painted in dark purple and violet, "Then I'll activate her effect! Once per turn, she can copy the level of 1 Nexus monster on my field! Since Lone Shooter is level 4, she will become level 4!"

(Lvl 1 Tuner Light: Nexus Crystal Pixie, 100ATK/100DEF)

Nexus Crystal Pixie's LVL: 1 → 4

Although Ludo remained calm, he couldn't help but take note, "Level 4? You would only do that if that monster is a tuner monster. Which means. . ."

"Yup, you guessed it!" Seirus affirmed with a smirk, "Now, I tune level 4 Nexus Crystal Pixie with level 4 Nexus Hero, Lone Shooter!

At his command, Crystal Pixie took flight and dispersed into several green rings while Lone Shooter leapt through them until he was surrounded completely; his body growing transparent as Seirus chanted, "Coinciding spirits within the times of peril! Rise up and become the beacon that shields us! Synchro Summon! Level 8! Shield us, Nexus Hero, Plasma Shielder!" At his call, the light burst into a pillar until it dispersed into nothingness as his monster leapt out of the light and landed in front of him in defense mode; a humanoid monster with white and gold armor with red outlines, it's two plasma shields in hand with a blue orb in the center.

(Lvl 8 Light: Nexus Hero, Plasma Shielder, 1600ATK/3000DEF)

"I see, playing defensive are we? That monster sure is impressive with 3000 DEF points," Ludo complimented.

Though Seirus smirked at that assumption, "Who said I was done? But first, since Crystal Pixie was used for a Synchro Summon, I can also use her other ability! Once per turn, she allows me to draw 1 card from my deck!"

Seirus's Hand: 3

"Then, I'll activate my Plasma Shielder's effect! Once per turn, he allows me to Special Summon a level 2 or lower Nexus monster from my deck! So come on out, Nexus Illuminant Cat! Furthermore, I'll use Crystal Pixie's effect from the graveyard in order to revive it once more for the last time this turn!" the Nexus duelist cried, his greenish blue cat with yellow cybernetic outlines and feathery wings emerging from a portal next to him along with Crystal Pixie as the two winged monster danced in the sky before landing on the field in front of him.

(Lvl 2 Light: Nexus Illuminant Cat, 1000ATK/500DEF)

"Now I'll play the spell card, Level Lifter! Now, by sending 1 monster from my hand to the graveyard! I can target up to 2 monsters in my field and they will become that monster's level until the end of the turn! The monster I'll be sending is level 4, Nexus Hero, Quantum to raise only Illuminant Cat's Level to 4!" He declared.

Nexus Illuminant Cat LVL: 2 → 4

"Another level changing effect? Getting ahead of ourselves I see," Ludo remarked.

"I wouldn't be me if I didn't now, would I? I tune level 1 Nexus Crystal Pixie with my now level 4 Nexus Illuminant Cat!" Seirus announced once more, with both of his monsters taking flight with their wings before Crystal Pixie dispersed into green rings once more while Illuminant Cat flew straight through it before Seirus chanted, "Traverse the free azure skies at speeds surpassing the sound-barrier! Synchro Summon! Appear now! Level 5: Nexus Hero, Jet Blader!".

(Lvl 5 Fire: Nexus Hero, Jet Blader, 2200ATK/1600DEF)

The pillar of green light exploded once more and Emerging from that light soared a warrior clad in silver and red armor with a bronze outline. Extending from it's back was a jet engine that was ready to go as smoke came out of it while his orange, double-edge sword was held comfortably in his hand. With his appearance, Seirus pointed at him and announced, "Now for his effect! Once per turn, I can target 1 level 5 or lower monster in my graveyard and inflict 200x points as damage to you for each of that monster's level! Since level 4 is the highest, then how about I choose my level 4 Nexus Hero, Quantum! Go, Jet Burner!" At his command, Jet Blader allowed it's armor's engines to run wild as the heat traveled all the way down to his arm before the blade became a hot-reddish orange. Without hesitation, his monster swung his blade to hurl a heat wave at his opponent to where it earned more groans as his life points were seared.

Ludo's LP: 7600 → 6800

Satisfied, Seirus concluded, "Yosh, I suppose that's good for now. I'll set 1 card face-down and end my turn."

Seirus's Hand: 0

Turn 2: Executive Ludo, 5 cards in hand, 0 cards on field, 0 cards in graveyard, 0 cards banished

Ludo's LP: 6400

Seirus's LP: 8000

"Not a bad move, boy. You wield pretty commendable. . .," Ludo applauded while dusting himself off. He was confident and rather unfazed, "Now, let me show you my own! My Turn! Draw!"

Ludo's Hand: 6

"Allow me to start off by activating the field spell; Despia, Theatre Of The Branded!" Ludo announced as the waters around them began to rage uncontrollable until suddenly, a large stadium arising from the waters with walls made of purplish-red material with several seats in rows that formed a circle through each level of the theatre. Then, the room began to become filled with an ominous red fog that covered the stage while faint sounds of distorted instruments were heard in the distance, "Welcome to my lovely stage where my Despia actors shall perform your execution."

"Despia? Glad I'm also not alone on out of the blue decks," Seirus muttered.

With a hidden malicious grin, Ludo nodded, "The feelings are mutual, boy. Now, I shall play the continuous spell; Field Barrier! As long as this card is face-up on the field, all field spells currently present are indestructible! Not only that, neither player can't play any new field spells as well!" Just like that, his theatre began to be shrouded in a purplish aura.

"A spell that not only protects your field spell but also locks your opponent out of playing field spells of their own? Which means that field spell must be a vocal point of your deck. . ." Seirus noted.

"Good eye, but it won't help you! I activate my field spell's effect! Once per turn, this grand theatre allows me to Fusion Summon a level 8 or higher Fusion Monster from my Extra Deck using materials from my field or hand. I fuse Dramaturge Of Despia and Fallen Of Albaz!" The Neferious executive declared.

His two monsters appeared onto the field, one being a white and red cloaked monster with a mask while the other was a man dressed in dark raggedy clothes with silver hair and pointy ears. His skin resembled ash before he along with the white robed monster turned into two streams of purple and red as they swirled around into a spiral above with their master chanting, "Devilish lance that is shrouded in darkness! Call forth your dark master and devour your victims! Fusion Summon! Come Forth! Despian Quaeritis!" Emerging from the swirling light shrouded in a dark red fog and descending onto his field was a fiend-like monster with a red and black body that protruded red spikes that matched his claws. In the monster's grip was a lance while it's make-shift wings were covered in red, demonic eyes that stretched all the way to the extra claws at the end of its wings.

(Lvl 8 Dark: Despian Quaeritis, 2500ATK/2500DEF)

"Marvelous isn't he? But he won't be alone as I will also be activating my Dramaturge's effect from the grave! Since he was sent to the graveyard due to being used as a Fusion Summon from either my hand or field, I can Special Summon him to the field! Arise, Dramaturge!" He added, his previously white-robed monster returning to the field from a purple portal below.

(Lvl 8 Dark: Dramaturge Of Despia, 3000ATK/1500DEF)

"3000 ATK points and 2500 ATK points. . .but that can't be all now would it?" Seirus commented with a hint of confidence in his defense.

In response, Ludo chuckled, "Not at all. . .because since I control two level 8 monster's on my field, I can activate the Spell: Allure Of The Voided World! Since I control two level 8 or higher Dark attributed monsters on my field, I am allowed to draw 2 cards from my deck!"

Ludo's Hand: 3

"Then I'll play Polymerization! This allows me to fuse monsters from my field or hand! Which means, I'll be fusing Dramaturge Of Despia on my field and Despian Tragedy from my hand!" Ludo announced, a monster resembling a demon clown dressed in green with a white skirt appearing next to Dramaturge before the two monsters were turned into two streams of purple and red light. They swirled around as he chanted, "Ancient beast dwelling within this theatre! Set those wings that have been waiting to submerge this stage in your crimson miasma! Fusion Summon! Level 8! Masquerade, The Crimsongleam Dragon!"

At his call, the swirling light burst, unleashing a cloud of dark-crimson miasma that emitted heat that could scorch the ground. However, in no time at all, the monster's crimson wings extended out of the fog before dispersing it completely to reveal its true form. It's body was pitch black with red and black pattern wings. On it's right leg seemed to be a gold armor piece with a purple jewel in the middle. It roared, it's red hair rustling due to the shockwave emitted as it's red eyes glowed and glared at Seirus's monsters.

(Lvl 8 Dark: Masquerade, The Crimsongleam Dragon, 2500ATK/2000DEF)

"Since Despian Tragedy was used for a Fusion Summon, I can search my deck for up to 1 Despia monster from my deck to my hand. The card I'll add is Aluber, The Jester of Despia. Then I'll equip my Masquerade with the equip spell; Unfortunate End," Ludo announced as he grinned, "The stage has been set. I hope you're ready because I'll finally unveil my Despian Quaeritis effect. Once per turn, during either of our Main Phases, all monsters on the field except for level 8 or higher Fusion Monsters will have their ATK reduced to 0 until the end of the turn! Subjugation Glare!"

Seirus's eyes widened at that sort of effect, growling under his breath, "What!? Tch, that's one nasty effect. . .!" As stated, Quaeritis simply glared at them, his eyes striking fear in both Jet Blader and Plasma shielder as a dark, red energy began to weigh down on their bodies, their strength extinguishing in mere moments.

Nexus Hero, Jet Blader: 2200ATK → 0ATK

Nexus Hero, Plasma Shielder: 1600ATK → 0ATK

"Battle! I'll first have Masquerade destroy that Jet Blader of yours and at this time, my equip spell's effect activates! When Masquerade battles a Fusion Monster whose level is lower than 8, it gains 500 ATK until the end of the turn! Go, Rossa Flame!" Ludo declared, his dragon opening it's maw to unleash a flaming blaze

Masquerade, The Crimsongleam Dragon: 2500ATK → 3000ATK

Tch, it certainly doesn't matter if I am able to protect him or not," Seirus muttered to himself, "However, I activated my trap card; Defense Draw! During damage calculations, I can reduce all damage I'll receive to 0 and then I am allowed to Draw 1 card!"

Just as he drew his card, Jet Blader was soon engulfed by the flames before being destroyed though Seirus managed to take no damage as a barrier formed around him. He looked at the card he drew, "This isn't what I need but I can still make use of Jet Blader's sacrifice! You see, because Jet Blader was destroyed by battle, I can shuffle 1 card from my hand back into the deck to draw a new card!"

Seirus's Hand: 1

"Very well, I'll allow you to search for your miracle. However, since this is the end of damage calculations, my equip spell's other effect can now take effect!" Ludo added.

Surprise, Seirus's eyes widened, "What did you say. . ."

"My, my, shock are we? Well, allow me to enlighten you. When the monster equipped with Unfortunate End battles an opponent's monster with 0 ATK points; then all monsters with 0 ATK points on the field are destroyed. And since Plasma Shielder was also affected by Quaeritis's effect, he will also fall!" Ludo explained.

Before Seirus could so much show his disbelief, Plasma Shielder let out cries of pain before he too was burnt to a crisp and destroyed in the process. Much to the executive's amusement, the flames cleared to reveal an empty field, "Now there's nothing standing in my servant's way! Despia Quaeritis, attack this poor lad directly! Lance Of Demise!" With his command, Quaeritis spun his lance before hurling directly at Seirus so fast that it became a crimson stream of light that pierced right through the Nexus duelist's abdomen. He let out a cry of pain far greater than the pain he experienced back at the Battle Dome, his groans earning signs of worry from the Astraea Princess who watched him stumble back while clutching his stomach.

Seirus's LP: 8000 → 5500

"I forgot to mention that in this particular duel, the damage you'll receive will be far more real than you are accustomed to so you must understand why I had to pay you back from earlier," Ludo noted.

The Nexus duelist struggled to catch his breath as he tried his best to ease the pain that washed over him, "Hah. . .hah. . .I noticed. I guess that card you threw earlier really wasn't for show. . ."

"Of course, how else will I be able to harvest your energy? Unlike those prototype bracelets my henchmen use, this is far more efficient though a double-edge sword to say the least," He commented before concluding his turn, "I place 1 card face-down and end my turn. With that, my dragon's ATK points return to normal."

Masquerade, The Crimsongleam Dragon: 3000ATK → 2500ATK

Ludo's Hand: 1

Turn 3: Seirus Yuzaki, 1 cards in hand, 0 cards on field, 8 cards in graveyard, 0 cards banished

Seirus's LP: 5500

Ludo's LP: 6400

With the conclusion of his turn, Seirus knew he had to steel himself even though his body was still shaken by the suddenness of the attack. He let out a few pants before noting, "I'll admit, you are right about those things taking a whole lot more compared to those cursed bracelets."

"Are you. . ." Steria said, trying to at least show a bit of concern as she pretty much just witnessed it with her own eyes.

Taking note of the worriedness and sudden pause in her sentence as she realized it was probably a stupid question to ask, Seirus smirked back at her with assurance, "I'm fine, I just got caught off guard is all. Just sit tight." She nodded, allowing the Nexus duelist to return his focus back on the duel at hand.

"Okay, so he's definitely far more skilled than the other two," Seirus took note in his head as he examined the current situation, "In just one turn, he tore through my defense like it was nothing by establishing a field of two high level monsters with 2500ATK each. Not only that, I also have to worry about his Quaeritis's effect on lowering my monster's ATK to 0. Taking his face-down into account as well. . .I'm in a pickle. . ."

Taking that into consideration, he looked down at the single card in hand and smirked, "Well, when backed into a corner, guess I gotta trust my gut! My turn! Draw!"

Seirus's Hand: 2

"I'll start things off by activating Tri-Chip Extraction! Since I control no cards in my banish zone while you also control more monsters than I do, I can target 1 level 8 or higher Nexus monster in my graveyard and remove it from play! By doing this, I am allowed to draw 2 cards! The monster I choose to remove will be Nexus Hero, Plasma Shielder!" Seirus declared, removing his monster from play before adding on, "Furthermore, if that monster was an Extra Deck monster then I can draw 1 additional card!"

"Not so fast, I activate my dragon's special effect! As long as this card was Fusion Summoned, you must pay 600 life points to activate cards or effects!" Ludo interrupted

"What! Nggghhhhhhh!" Seirus groaned as felt a burning sensation shroud his body much to Steria's worry. However, he steeled himself, quickly adjusting to the pain with a grumble, "Tch, what an annoying effect. . ."

Seirus's LP: 5500 → 4900

Seirus's Hand: 4

Seirus drew his cards and had a satisfied look on his face, "This should do, I now activate my Nexus Hero, Quantum's effect from my graveyard! When a Nexus monster is removed from play from either my field or graveyard, I can then Special Summon this card onto my field in attack mode and his level is increased by 1! However, when he leaves the field, he is removed from play! Arise, Nexus Hero, Quantum!" Responding to his wish, a dark blue portal formed in the ground as his monster shot through the portal, his gray suit and cape flowing alongside the numerous vector straps that were attached to the back of his belt. As the monster landed, the center of his belt was glowing red along with the top of his mask.

(Lvl 4 Light: Nexus Hero, Quantum, 1900ATK/1400DEF)

Nexus Hero, Quantum Lvl: 4 → 5

"I see you're a glutton for punishment, because now my dragon's effect activates again!" the executive added as once more Seirus felt his body get burned by a red aura.

Seirus's LP: 4900 → 4400

"Just bare with it. . ." Seirus told himself as he continued, "Now I summon Nexus Beast, Scyther!"

A monster resembling a purple and blue reptile with a scythe in his mouth appeared on Seirus's field, "Since he was successfully summoned, I can target 1 level 4 or lower Nexus monster in my graveyard and summon it to the field! The monster I choose is my Nexus Beast, Turbulent Cerberus." As his three-headed cybernetic dog appeared on the field, Seirus braced himself for the burning sensation once more as the red aura shrouded him.

Seirus's LP: 4400 → 3800

"You truly must have lost your mind. . ." Ludo muttered, his grin widening at the boy's persistence, "Even though you are aware of the circumstance and my dragon's effect, you're still desperately searching for a way out. You're insane, hahahahah!"

As he laughed, Seirus knew he would be eating those words, "On the contrary, I've already found my opening! I pay the cost of my monster's effect to activate Turbulent Cerberus's effect!" For the last time, Seirus felt his body sizzle again, the pain almost bringing him to his knees but he pressed forward.

Seirus's LP: 3800 → 3200

"Now, since my monster was successfully summoned, I can send the top card from my deck to the graveyard and by doing so, I can target 1 card on your field and destroy it!" Seirus declared.

Ludo's laughter stopped immediately at his words, "Huh. . .?"

"That's right, the target I choose for this effect is your dragon! Now go, take him down Cerberus!" Seirus cried with his monster digging it's tail into the ground to unleash a torrent of water-like energy towards Masquerade.

Realizing what was about to happen, Ludo's demeanor cracked a bit to show annoyance, "Tch, you think something like that will be enough to take down my dragon! I activate my continuous trap; Emergency Containment Safety! When a Fusion Monster I control is targeted for an destruction effect, by an opponent's monster, I can negate that Fusion Monster's effect and that monster is forced into defense mode! In return, as long as this card is on the field, that monster can't be targeted by my opponent's card effects and it gains 1000 DEF points." With haste, Masquerade switched itself into defense mode as a red barrier protected it from the torrent of energy. A blue aura shrouded it's body, providing the dragon more power as well as suppressing its ability.

Masquerade, The Crimsongleam Dragon: 2500DEF → 3500DEF

"Damn, that didn't go as planned, but since your monster's effects are negated, I won't take anymore damage! Just like before, I can bring my Nexus Crystal Pixie from my graveyard!" Seirus announced, his monster returning to his fellow companions on the battlefield as support.

"She's back. . .what a pesky utility monster you got there," Ludo commented.

"I know, and she'll be put to good use!" Seirus exclaimed as a restless roar echoed through his head as if it were waiting patiently for this very moment. He smirked with excitement, "It's been a while since I've brought him out! I tune level 1 Nexus Crystal Pixie with level 4 Nexus Beast, Turbulent Cerberus, and level 3 Nexus Beast, Scyther!"

Taking flight, Crystal Pixie soared into the sky above along with the two Nexus Beast monsters following shortly behind. She once more dispersed into multiple green rings that layered in a perfect line as the Nexus Beast monsters were surrounded by them. They began to grow transparent before bursting into a giant orb of green and blue streams of energy as Seirus raised his hand and began chanting, "Converging connections are what breaks through the dimensions that divide us! Beacon the beacon that links them and soar with hope!" He closed the palm of his hand, gesturing the ball to burst into a hurricane of raging energy that surrounded the monster.

Little by little, the light dimmed, unraveling the dragon's cybernetic, blue wings that emitted a glowing blue light as the cybernetic halo hovered behind the monster. It spread its wings, dispersing the energy into nothing more than a shining light that emitted from it that illuminated the area.

"Synchro Summon! Appear Now! Level 8: Nexus Dimension Dragon, Xernus!" the Nexus duelist cried. In response, the dragon of his deck roared to unravel itself in all of its glory before descending closer down to the field in play.

(Level 8 Light: Nexus Dimension Dragon, Xernus, 2500ATK/2000DEF)

Ludo and Steria were sorta surprised by the aura that the dragon emitted and judging by Seirus's confident expression; this was most certainly the ace monster of his deck. The Neferious executive grinned at the thought of crushing it, "Hahahahah! So this is your big boy, huh? Must admit, color impressed me! However. . .I've been waiting for you to reveal your trump card! I activate the Quaeritis effect once more, reducing all your monster's ATK to 0! Subjugation Glare!" Similar to before, both of Seirus monsters felt their strength zap from their body as though they were being constricted by the ominous glare coming from the fiend.

Nexus Dimension Dragon, Xernus: 2500ATK → 0ATK

Nexus Hero, Quantum Lvl: 1900ATK → 0ATK

"What a shame, to think you would get so happy about busting out your dragon to forget about Quaeritis's effect. Too bad! Hahahahahahahah!" Ludo mocked with a cackle.

Though Seirus was now sure that he had no clue as to what was going to transpire, "Are you sure about that?"

"What. . .?" he muttered, his fits of laughter abrupt by the question.

"I already figured out how to counter your monster's effect! But first, since you were so kind to activate that effect of yours, I'll be first using Pixie's effect since she was used for a Synchro Summon! Thus allowing me to draw 1 card from my deck!" Seirus announced, drawing his card.

Seirus's Hand: 4

The Nexus duelist pointed to Xernus who seemed eager to cause some carnage, "Then, I'll activate Xernus's effect! By banishing two Nexus monsters from play in my graveyard such as Nexus Beast, Turbulent Cerberus and Nexus Hero, Lone Shooter; I can then target 1 monster on your field and negate its effects! Furthermore, until the end phase, that monster loses 200x ATK points for each of its levels while Xernus gains 200 ATK for each of its levels as well! Since Quaretis is the only monster that isn't already negated, I'll choose him! Break free from his gaze, Xernus! Gamma Ray Drain!" Just as commanded, Xernus spread its wings wide before unleashing a pulsating wave of energy down upon the fiend and pressured it into submission as it roared at the power it was receiving.

Nexus Dimension Dragon, Xernus: 0ATK → 1600ATK

Despian Quaeritis: 2500ATK → 900ATK

"Weakening my monster overall while also powering itself up? I see, that is a formidable monster indeed. . ." Ludo muttered with irritation.

"I'm not done! I then equip my Nexus Hero, Quantum with the equip spell; Nexus Weapon-Dragonius Rocket Launcher! This card can only be equipped to a level 5 or lower Nexus Hero monster on my field, raising it's ATK by 200 for each of it's levels!" Seirus declared, a rocket launcher resembling a dragon appearing above Quantum before resting on his shoulder.

Nexus Hero, Quantum Lvl: 0ATK → 1000ATK

With everything settled, Seirus knew the stage was set, "Battle! Xernus! Destroy his Despian Quaeritis! Dimension Break Burst!" The dragon opened its maw as energy from its wings flowed into the monster's mouth as it built up gradually. Once full, Xernus unleashed a fierce roar of blue and green energy that streamed down upon Quaeritis as though it were a ray of light. The fiend monster struggled and let out a deep growl of pain before being completely eradicated by the blast in a large explosion that sent Ludo skidding back.

Ludo's LP: 6400 → 5700

The Neferious executive grunted in pain though he soon heard Seirus exclaim, "Not yet! Now it's Quantum's turn to attack! Go!" Hesitation gone, Quantum pulled the trigger from his rocket launcher that hurled straight towards the dragon that was in defense mode. Both Steria and Ludo couldn't believe how rash he was considering the potential large amounts of damage he was going to take.

"Pfft, hahah, what are you crazy!?" Ludo wondered with a pain filled laugh, "My dragon has 3500 DEF! You're throwing the duel, boy!"

"That's what you believe! I believe that your monster will be destroyed!" Seirus retorted back.

On cue, the rocket collided with Masquerade successfully with the shockwaves emitting as it should have. However, at first it seemed as though Seirus was about to take the damage, the dragon suddenly let out a cry of pain before immediately exploding; the ensuing shockwaves sent Ludo flying back in both confusion and agony. He tumbled against the ground for a bit before skidding to his feet as clear rage had finally been displayed on his face.

Ludo's LP: 5700 → 4100

"What. . .did. . .you. . .do!" He growled, his body sizzling with smoke from the explosion as the cloud of smoke cleared in front of him to reveal the Nexus's duelist smirk.

"You seem confused so allow me to explain," Seirus amused, "There is a reason why this equip spell can only be equipped to Nexus Heroes who are of low level. When a hero is in trouble and in desperate need, they need to utilize all they have. Having a trusty and reliable weapon helps a lot and can even take down the mightiest enemies. When the monster equipped with Dragonius Launcher battles an opponent's monster whose level is higher than the original level of that monster while also having more ATK points, then I can automatically destroy that monster at the cost of lowering the monster's ATK by half. Then, you take 200 points of damage for each of that monster's level. Pretty neat, right?"

Nexus Hero, Quantum Lvl: 1000ATK → 500ATK

"Tch, even so, since the Fusion Monster affected by my trap was destroyed, it too is destroyed. However, I am allowed to draw 1 new card," Ludo said grumpily.

Ludo's Hand: 2

Seirus nodded, "Fine by me, I'll set two cards face-down and end my turn. Since it's the end phase, your Quaritis's effect wears off, which means it returns both my monster's ATK to it's original attack thus negating the negative effects from using Dragonius Launcher on my Quantum."

Seirus's Hand: 1

Turn 4: Executive Ludo, 2 cards in hand, 2 cards on field, 9 cards in graveyard, 0 cards banished

Ludo's LP: 4100

Seirus's LP: 3200

Although he still had the life point lead. . .it was pretty apparent that the turn around of the duel in Seirus's favor had most certainly caused something to snap. The executive let out a bellow chuckle, "Heheh. . .boy. . .you've made a grave mistake. . ."

"Umm, which one? Because I have no clue on what I did wrong," Seirus admitted, oblivious to the deeper meanings behind his words. Chuckling, the fuming rage that was threatening to surface was settled down to a simmer. He looked up with eyes that housed a glint of malice in them.

"You will soon find out! My turn! Draw!" Ludo exclaimed, drawing his card, "First up, since you control a Extra Deck monster on your field, I can Special Summon Masquerade, The Crimsongleam Dragon from my graveyard! However, when it leaves the field, it is banished!" Returning back to his field was his dragon emitting it's burning miasma once more.

He grinned with a faint, cheerful smile before revealing a malicious contrasting one as he revealed a card from his hand, "Now, I'll play my quick-play spell card; Branded In Red! This card essentially allows me to target 1 Despia monster from my graveyard and add it to my hand. Then, I can perform a Fusion Summon by banishing the materials needed for a level 8 or higher Fusion Monster from either my hand or field! I choose to add Dramaturge of Despia of course and then banish it along with Despia Resolution and Masquerade!"

Just as he said, Dramaturge along with a white clone monster with a similar color scheme appeared on the field next to Masquerade before turning into three streams of light of red, purple, and yellow. They swirled around, forming a pitch black orb that formed an ominous fog as he chanted, "Creeping shadows, slowly unraveling the true horrors presented upon this marvelous stage! Let their screams paint, their screams be silenced by the main performance! Fusion Summon!" Upon his declaration, the Miasma began to unravel a sight that would put most horror movies to shame.

The monster was definitely the textbook definition of creepy as a fiend with no arms or legs appeared to be attached to some bronze object while it's more larger body that towered over Xernus was shown to be a twin, serpent like creature with dark black scales with red indents.

"Enter the stage! Level 11! Despian Proskenion!" Ludo exclaimed, his monster roaring at it's name being announced.

(Level 11 Light: Despian Proskenion, 3200ATK/3200DEF)

"You know. . ." Seirus muttered with a bead of sweat on his face, recalling back to his first duel at the academy, "I swear I am getting a strange case of deja vu right about now."

"Oh. . .past trauma I see? Well, all the more easier! But first, since Despian Resolution was banished due to being used as a Fusion material for a level 8 or higher monster, I can draw 2 cards! Furthermore, since Dramaturge was used for a Fusion Summon, I can summon him to the field even from the banish zone!" Ludo said, his monster returning back onto the field.

Ludo's Hand: 3

He drew his cards and smirked, "Then I summon, Albur, The Jester of Despia!" A humanoid monster wearing a red and black suit with a red, gold-lining cape with a checker pattern interior appeared on his field as it's red hair was darkened by the flames that surrounded it while it's mask was briefly illuminated.

(Level 4 Dark: Albur, The Jester of Despia, 1800ATK/0DEF)

"Since he was successfully summoned, I can use his effect to add a spell or trap card that has Branded in it's name! I choose to add Screams of the Branded to my hand! Then I'll activate my field-spell's effect to fuse Dramaturge of Despia and Albur, The Jester of Despia!"

Once again, his monster turned into two streams of red and purple light as they swirled around above before bursting into a spiraling pillar that touched the ground as he chanted again, "Devilish lance that is shrouded in darkness! Call forth your dark master and devour your victims! Fusion Summon! Return! Despian Quaeritis!" Reappearing again was the same fiend monster who wielded his crimson lance.

"Great, that things back. . ." Seirus groaned.

"That's right, your fears about him have returned and so will your screams! I activate Despian Quaeritis's effect! Reducing all your monster's attacks to 0! Subjugation Glare!" the Neferious executive announced as the new Quaeritis activated it's glowing eyes to force Seirus's Quantum and even Xernus back into submission.

Nexus Dimension Dragon, Xernus: 2500ATK → 0ATK

Nexus Hero, Quantum Lvl: 1900ATK → 0ATK

Grinning as he knew his young opponent would be in for a shock, Ludo decided to unveil his true intent "The main act has finally come. I activate Despian Proskenion effect! Once per turn, I am allowed to target 1 Extra Deck monster in your graveyard and summon it to my field!"

"What!" Seirus cried, "You're stealing my monster!?"

"Presto! The monster I'll be taking is your Nexus Hero, Jet Blader! Domitrix Of The Theatre!" Ludo cackled.

Proskenion opened it's maw and roared, the vibrations emitted causing a portal to rip from the ground before Jet Blader was revealed to be arising from the ground though his armor was a different color. This time it was a reddish-purple color as it stared back at his former master. Now that the stage was set, Ludo knew it was time, "Battle! Despian Proskenion! Destroy his poor dragon and put him out of his misery! Climatic Miasma of the Demise!"

"I activate Nexus Beast, War Turtle's effect from my GY! When your monster declares an attack on my monster, by moving a level 4 or higher Nexus monster from my banish zone to the graveyard and then banishing War Turtle in its place, I can negate all battle damage I'll receive for that battle! I choose level 4 Nexus Hero, Lone Shooter!" Seirus countered, although it didn't stop the demonic entity from unleashing a fog of miasma at Xernus. With shrill cries, the Nexus dragon was completely destroyed though a barrier surrounded Seirus in order to protect him from the shockwaves.

However, strangely enough, after the barrier wore off, the miasma began to swirl around Seirus which left him confused, "Huh. . .?"

"Oh, I forgot," Ludo feigned his obliviousness before grinning devilishly once more, "It was a respectable effort and instinct to avoid a direct hit. But since Proskenion successfully destroys an opponent's monster in battle then whichever is higher between that monster's ATK and DEF points will be inflicted to you as damage! Since Xernus's ATK was 2500 and is clearly higher, you'll receive his strength first hand! Diabolic Encore!"

The swirling miasma began to swirl around faster and faster until it rose up into a mini-cyclone that inflicted a burning sensation. Shrill cries of pain washed over Seirus's body as the miasma lifted him slightly off the ground as Steria watched in horror at what was happening in this duel as she finally came to a final realization; this is how Neferious members truly duel. They duel to inflict pain and even dispose of their opponents rather than simply defeat them. She covered her mouth as the fog dispersed to reveal some scratches and bruises on Seirus's stumbling body.

Seirus's LP: 3200 → 700

"Now for the climax! Jet Blader! Destroy your former owner's final monster at once!" Ludo commanded as Jet Blader dash forward with his jet engine propelling him.

Meanwhile, Seirus was trying to catch his breath before noticing the attack coming towards his monster. Seeing this, he had to act quickly otherwise the duel would be over, "Not so fast. . .I activate my trap; Accelerating Escape! When my opponent's monster declares an attack on a monster I control! Now, I can negate that attack and target my monster in order to shuffle it back to the deck! Then, I can summon a Nexus monster who is 2 levels higher than the current level of the monster shuffled! Since Quantum's level at this time is level 5, I can summon a level 7 monster! Furthermore, for the rest of the turn, that monster can't be destroyed by battle!" Before Jet Blader sword could so much as reach its target, a wall of green particles blocked his swing as Quantum was turned into a blue light that flew straight back into Seirus's deck while a single card extended out shortly afterwards. Knowing the card he selected, he grabbed it and quickly summoned his monster.

"Appear now! Nexus Hero, Raikos!" Seirus called forth.

Shortly after, a portal formed from above as a green flash of light zipped it way down onto the field at blinding speeds akin to a lightning bolt. Once it touched the ground, numerous bolts of lightning covered Seirus's fill until unraveling his monster in his orange, black, and green armor.

(Lvl 7 Tuner Light: Nexus Hero, Raikos, 2500ATK/2000DEF)

"Impressive maneuver. You not only canceled out the drawbacks of your previous monster but you also avoided certain defeat while also bringing out another powerful monster. I suppose I'll have to end my turn by setting 2 face-downs." Ludo complimented before ending his turn.

Ludo's Hand: 1

Turn 5: Seirus Yuzaki, 1 card in hand, 2 cards on field, 11 cards in graveyard, 2 cards banished

Seirus's LP: 700

Ludo's LP: 4100

"Phew. . .," the Nexus duelist said, his breathing a little unstable from all the energy that was drained from his body, "A little too close for call. . ."

"You're right, boy!" Ludo intruded on his little self-talk. He grinned, his eyes glancing over to Steria who had a face that spelled remorse, "But, you wouldn't have been in this position if you simply let me duel the girl. Pwah! Just looking at her is revolting. Anyone with the blood of the Astraea family are just cowardly vermin who sit behind others and watch people beneath them grovel from their pedestal."

Seirus's eyes widened before looking at the girl behind him. She was stunned, almost like a child getting caught doing something bad with a sense of guilt washing over her. She knew, if you look at the context of the situation and what's happening right now. . .he was right. The Astraea princess was hiding behind a naive boy to protect her so that she doesn't need to take risks? That fact was just supporting the Neferious executive's case. However, in Seirus's eyes, the insults hurled at her managed to grinned some gears a bit as he growled, "Oi. . .I'd watch it if I were you-"

"Or what?" Ludo amusedly countered with a cocky smug smile as he pointed at her, "What does she matter to you? I'm sure you've realized how much of a pain she is from merely being in the presence of others. Quit the act of bravery, that role is for fools who think they can do something in this world with courage. You should take that advice to heart, boy! That way, you won't end up in a situation like this again. . .if you make it out alive that is, bwahahahahahahah!"

He cackled and cackled, until the air was filled with the sounds of his mocking fits of laughter that made Steria's mood sink down into the ground. For the first time in a long time, she actually wanted to cry, her lips pressing against each other as she fought back the tears that were beginning to swell up in her eyes. Though, before they could fall, Seirus took in a deep breath before shouting, "Shut up!" At his demand, Ludo's laughter was silenced once more though this time out of curiosity as to what the boy wanted to say.

"Oh, that really did work? Guess I can finally speak now," Seirus grinned, his personality and demeanor doing a 180 in just mere seconds. He looked back at Steria's shocked eyes at his sudden yell before giving her an assuring look as he turned his attention back to Ludo. The Nexus duelist was oddly calm, as though the words before didn't bother him in the slightest, "I don't like the fact that you are disrespecting one of my friends so I'm going to have to ask you to stop."

"What?"

Both Steria and Ludo uttered together at about the same time but for completely different reasons. The Neferious executive couldn't help but snort at something so comical to him, while the princess watched her classmate with complete baffleness. He chuckled, "Hahah, you can't be forreal! You didn't hear what I said, did you? You're just being brave for another person's cowardness and that braveness is what's putting your life at risk for someone who isn't even worth it!"

"Who said she wasn't worth it or was a coward? If you are saying that then you really don't know anything do you and if I am telling you that then that's a serious problem," Seirus said, his question leaving Ludo a little stunted before continuing, "You can't call her a coward if she's the one willing to bare the burden of holding the very thing your after. She knew of the dangers and so did her family yet they still carried on with their lives despite the risks. Day by day, she must have been terrified, scared that she might be put into a life and death situation yet she was willingly to accept that risk and fight without hesitation. As her friend, what would I be if I didn't share the same courage she has?"

"Courage? Her? You're a friend? What blasphemy, your thoughts are of an ignorant child, boy!" Ludo proclaimed hysterically.

Though Seirus was unfazed much to Steria's surprise as he shrugged casually, "Say what you will but my feelings won't change and this duel is still on."

"You mean over? Face it, I've got you in a corner," Ludo remarked.

"Sure, you are strong and I'm actually thrilled to face someone as strong as you. But, let's see just how long that lasts. . .," Seirus grinned back with confidence, his finger placed on his deck, "My Turn! Draw! I'll start things off by activating my face-down Road To A Miracle! While my opponent controls more monsters on the field while also having 3000 or more life points than I do, I can draw 3 cards from my deck! However, during my next Standby Phase; I must banish 3 cards from the top of my deck as a penalty!"

Seirus's Hand: 5

"Next, I'll be activating Raikos's effect! Allowing me to target 1 level 3 or lower Nexus monster on my graveyard and summon it to the field in defense mode with it's effects negated! The monster I choose is Nexus Beast, Scyther!" Seirus announced, his reptile returning to the field, "Then, for each of that monster's level, Raikos gains 200 ATK points until the end phase of your turn! Voltage Charge!"

Raikos body began to become shrouded by green bio-electricity that brimmed with strength.

Nexus Hero, Raikos: 2500ATK → 3100ATK

As Raikos's aura settled down, Seirus decided to continue his comeback play, "That's not all, I'll also equip Raikos with the equip spell; Lightning Frenzy! This card can only be equipped to Raikos in particular and it raises his ATK even more by 300!" Just as he said, Raikos's aura began to surge again.

Nexus Hero, Raikos: 3100ATK → 3400ATK

"Not bad, you managed to make your monster surpass my Proskenion. . .But that's not enough! You must have forgotten the Quaeritis effect! Once per turn, I can reduce the ATK of all your monster's to 0 until the end of the turn! Subjugation Glare!" the Neferious executive countered, his monster activating it's evil eyes to force a ominous and suppressing aura that drained Raikos and Scyther of their strength.

Nexus Hero, Raikos: 3400ATK → 0ATK

Nexus Beast, Scyther: 1500ATK → 0ATK

"You got so excited over your speech that you threw away your one chance of victory. That's what you get for playing hero, boy," Ludo mocked.

However, his opponent all but smirked back at him at the irony in his statement, "You're the one who got too excited! Because since I control Raikos on the field while an equip spell is either on my field or in my graveyard, I can send Raikos to the graveyard while banishing the equip spell in order to give Raikos a little boost!"

"What!?" Ludo growled.

"That's right, here goes!" Seirus reaffirmed as Raikos turned into a green light that flew high into the sky while entering a portal from above. Soon enough, the portal exploding into numerous bolts of electricity that rained down sparks upon the field while a new, bright green bolt of light that was larger than before zipped through the air in a zig-zag motion before landing onto the field in a flash of light as Seirus chanted, "Let that unimaginable speed be your blade that can even cut the sky! Surge on! Nexus Hero, 'Slash' Raikos!"

The light then faded away with a dome of electricity expanding to the edge of the ring before dispersing into nothing but sparks that glistened across the waters. His monster was notably different with the same orange armor though it had several white plates covering certain areas. However, the most noticeable change was the fact that Raikos now had a pair of glowing green empty wings that emitted small sparks from them on each side of his armor. Most of all, he wielded two katanas on each hand that were ready to tear through his enemies.

(Lvl 9 Light: Nexus Hero, "Slash" Raikos, 3000ATK/2400DEF)

"An upgraded form? To think you have that stored in your deck?" Ludo muttered.

"Heh, well, you gotta have some back up to support the ace when he's down," Seirus commented since his dragon was currently in the graveyard. Though, this was the perfect chance for some payback for his monster's demise, "Now, I activate my 'Slash' Raikos's effect! By sending 1 Nexus monster from my hand to the graveyard, such as my Nexus Hero, Archmen, I must then choose monster's whose levels are lower than 'Slash' Raikos on your field for each of the levels on the monster I sent to the graveyard and destroy them! Since Archmen is level 2, I can choose both Jet Blader and Quaeritis! Sorry about this Jet Blader but this is going to hurt! Giga-Bolt Slash!"

At Seirus's command, the newly formed Raikos's blades suddenly became covered in raging bolts of electricity until he swung both his swords successively to form two lightning slash-waves towards the two monsters. They ripped through the ground with uncontrollable voltage before bisecting the two monsters before causing them to explode as Ludo shielded himself from the smoke and ensuing shockwave. However, he didn't fail to notice Raikos's body began to glow similar to his previous form as Seirus explained further, "Since both monsters were destroyed by this effect, Raikos also gains 200 ATK for each of their combined levels until the end of the turn! Since Jet Blader was level 5 and Quaeritis was level 8; 'Slash' Raikos then gains 2600 ATK points!"

Nexus Hero, "Slash" Raikos: 3000ATK → 5600ATK

"5600 ATK? Tch, you little. . .well since Quaeritis left the field due to an opponent's card effect, I can then someone 1 Fallen of Albaz or Despia monster from my deck! Come forth! Ad Libitum of Despia in defense mode!" he called out, a monster dressed in a dark red and black joker outfit and elongated claws appearing through a portal.

(Lvl 8 Dark: Ad Libitum of Despia, 1500ATK/2000DEF)

"That's not all! I'll also be reviving my Crystal Pixie back from the graveyard!" Seirus added, his intentions to finish this strong as his fairy returned to the field, "And just like before, her effect will activate! Allowing her to copy the level of Scyther!"

Nexus Crystal Pixie's LVL: 1 → 3

"Now I tune level 3 Nexus Crystal Pixie with Level 3 Nexus Beast, Scyther!" Seirus declared, his two monsters taking to the skies once more as Pixie turned into numerous green rings while Scyther entered them as Seirus chanted, "The raging tides clash into one! Ride the waves and strike the evil within the abyss! Synchro Summon! Appear now! Level 6, Nexus Marine Hero, Poseidon!"

The light exploded into a pillar of light that quickly unraveled the hero with green skin and gray armor and spear as his red vizor mask covered his eyes.

(Lvl 6 Water: Nexus Marine Hero, Poseidon, 2000ATK/1500DEF)

"First off, I'll use Pixie's effect in order to draw 1 card. After that, I'll equip Poseidon with the spell; Nexus Weapon, Shadow Cloak! Then I'll remove my Nexus Hero, Archmen from play in order to negate the effects of your Field Barrier continuous spell!" he said, the spell suddenly turning gray with a blue aura that shrouded it while Poseidon was covered by some dark blue cape that was worn down.

Seirus's Hand: 2

As the stage was set, Seirus knew that this was going to be his best chance at victory, "Battle! 'Slash' Raikos! Destroy his Prokension! High-Charged Volt Cutter!" Raikos powered his wings before accelerating towards the enormous demon before him with his blades crossed into an "X" until he became nothing more than a bolt of light that slashed the monster into fours. There was a short cry as Raikos's full form became visible as it exploded behind him, the ensuing shockwaves causing Ludo pain as he skidded back from his previous spot.

Ludo's LP: 4100 → 1700

"Now for Poseidon's turn! Since he's equipped with Shadow Cloak, I can lower his ATK by half in order to attack you directly until the end of the battle phase! Go, Hidden Submerging Assault!" Seirus declared.

Nexus Marine Hero, Poseidon: 2000ATK → 1000ATK

Poseidon immediately faded through the ground before reappearing in front of Ludo before striking him with his spear, earning a grunt from the Nereferious executive before returning back to Seirus's field.

Ludo's LP: 1700 → 700

"Yosh, and since Poseidon successfully landed at least 1000 points of battle damage upon you, I am allowed to destroy 1 spell or trap card on your field! Since your continuous spell's effects are negated, I can finally get rid of that field spell of yours!" the Nexus duelist gleefully cheered.

On the other hand, much to Ludo's surprise, Poseidon spun his spear between his fingers before striking the ground beneath them. There was a momentary pause until suddenly the Theatre began to crack and crack bit by bit before collapsing into the waters around them. Seeing this, the Neferious executive was for once speechless as his precious stage was reduced to nothing to the very last piece. He clenched his teeth out of frustration, "What fruitless effort! I activate my trap, Screams of the Branded! With this, I can revive a Fusion Monster that is banished or in my graveyard! The monster I choose to revive is my Despia Proskenion!" As he said, his enormous abomination of a monster and devil of the theatre returned to the field much to Seirus's disappointment. Though he was still determined to win despite the failure damaging his field as much as he hoped.

"I'll set 1 card face-down and end my turn. With that, all my monster's ATK points return to normal," Seirus concluded, ignoring the glare filled with anger.

Nexus Marine Hero, Poseidon: 1000ATK → 2000ATK

Nexus Hero, "Slash" Raikos: 5600ATK → 3000ATK

Seirus's Hand: 1

Turn 6: Executive Ludo, 1 cards in hand, 4 cards on field, 14 cards in graveyard, 2 cards banished

Ludo's LP: 700

Seirus's LP: 700

"Even though he didn't get rid of that troublesome monster for good, he still managed to get in some good damage. . ." Steria muttered, her anxiousness clearly displayed on her face.

Although, she wasn't alone on this as Seirus too was still on high guard since he wasn't out of the woods yet. His life points haven't touched 0 and he knew better to let his guard down just yet. But be as it may be, one thing was for sure. . .;his opponent was clearly pissed, his eyes glaring at him, "Ho-how dare you. . ." Hearing this, Seirus steeled himself as he was sure his opponent would explode into his turn.

"How dare you destroy my marvelous stage! You will pay with your life, boy!" Ludo shouted, "My Turn! Draw!"

Ludo's Hand: 2

Upon examining his hand, he frowned, "Tch, no matter. What I have now is more than enough to finish off this brat! First off, I'll start by activating my Proskenion's quick effect! Which means I'll be stealing your precious dragon next!"

"Over my dead body you'll be touching my partner! I'll be chaining your effect with a quick effect of my own! You see, by destroying the monster equipped with Shadow Cloak along with it, I can negate the effects of 1 monster on your field! Which means you won't be stealing Xernus!" Seirus exclaimed, his Poseidon leaving the field as Proskenion halted it's special ability.

"So what, then I'll just have to do this the old fashion way! I switch Libitum to attack mode and use it's effect! This allows me to raise the ATK of all face-up monster's I control by 100 for each of their levels until the end phase of your turn!" Ludo grunted.

Despia Proskenion: 3200ATK → 4300ATK

Ad Libitum of Despia: 1500ATK → 2300ATK

However, his monsters were far from done as he unveiled his face-down, "Then I'll activate my trap; Bloody Claw of the Branded! By discarding 2 cards from my hand and equipping it to my Libitum, he gains 800 ATK and when he battles an opponent's monster, that monster is removed from play instead of going to the graveyard and you take 400 points as damage!" The claws of his monster began to ooze a poisonous miasma around it.

Ad Libitum of Despia: 2300ATK → 3100ATK

"Battle! Ad Libitum! Destroy his Nexus Hero, Slash Raikos! Once he's gone, he'll be wide open for Hell to take him! Brutal Requiem!" Ludo demanded, his monster leaping forward before slashing Raikos to across the chest so deep that the cries of his monster were silenced by the explosion that sent Seirus skidding back. However, he also began to feel a burning sensation over his body once more as the smoke had the lingering miasma from his monster's destruction.

Seirus's LP: 700 → 200

The lingering pain resurfaced but the Nexus duelist steeled himself back into focus, "When Slash Raikos leaves the field due to either my opponent's card effect or battle, I can revive Nexus Hero, Raikos from the graveyard in defense mode!" Just as he said, his monster's previous form returned to the field though instead ready for attack, he was kneeled down ready to brace himself.

"Tch, persistent. . .then I'll eliminate your last ditch effort here and now! Despian Proskenion! Destroy Raikos once and for all! Climatic Miasma of the Demise!" the Neferious duelist announced.

The two serpents wrapped around each other opened their maws before unleashing a wave of miasma down toward Raikos. However, Seirus's eyes glistening with hope before unveiling the saving card, "Not so fast! I activate my trap; Null Reflect! This allows me to negate your attack completely thus saving my monster!" Just in a nick of time and to Ludo's rage, a barrier formed in front of the Nexus duelist and his monster, protecting them both from the miasma sent their way and eradicating it entirely.

"Tch, no matter, I've taken the lead with this. I end my turn." Ludo noted before concluding.

Ludo's Hand: 0

Turn 7: Seirus Yuzaki, 1 card in hand, 1 cards on field, 16 cards in graveyard, 5 cards banished

Seirus's LP: 200

Ludo's LP: 700

The duel was finally beginning to slow down with both duelists practically unveiling most of their cards on the table. Even Steria was for the monster part feeling the weight that this duel had on them and if Seirus were to lose. . .well she would have no choice but to experience it first hand. That said, looking at things as it is right now, she may very well be on her way, "He's only got 1 card left in hand and his monster while using it's effect doesn't have enough power to overcome either of his alone let alone get him the victory. . ." Her thoughts came to a pause at a momentary pain in her heart that could only be described as pure dread. Fear that the person who spoke so valiantly about standing up for her and her image was going to be dealt the worst fate that came to her mind was just sickening.

"Seirus. . .please," She internally pleaded and prayed for some miracle with her hands over her heart.

Meanwhile, Seirus was looking at his only card at the moment with a blank face, "Genesis Tree. . .unfortunately, this card won't do right now. Not only that, his monsters are too powerful for most of the cards in my deck. . ."

"Come on boy, you're stalling the inevitable!" Ludo mocked, taunting him to hurry up with his turn.

Knowing full well that at this point, it'd take a miracle to draw something like Polymerization or Miracle Fusion, he really was relying on pure luck right about now. He looked down at his deck, his internal pleas trying to resonate with it, "Come on, deck, I really need a miracle right now. Just a little bit in order to beat this guy!" His eyes narrowed with determination with the situation at its most critical.

Then. . .it happened. He felt something lit up inside him as though it were trying to get his attention. It was so real that his eyes widened with shock, his mind pondering where this feeling was coming from or what caused it. However, he soon took notice of a soft glow coming from his Luminous Key before finally taking note of a dim light from his Extra Deck. Taking any chances to muster up a win, he reluctantly opened his Extra Deck and pulled out the source of the light, muttering, "This is. . .!"

It was one of the cards that suddenly appeared in his deck, it's form still completely gray and unrecognizable with only faint texts and imagery. Instead, it was emitting a soft, blue light before him that was barely noticeable by anyone else. Soon enough, he felt the strange feeling come back to him once more, "Are you telling me you'll respond to my courage?" As though it were a response, the dim light briefly got brighter and in that moment, for some strange reason. . .; it communicated all the requirements he needed for victory. The Nexus duelist didn't know if he should be either concerned that a literal card somehow hijacked into his mind to give him advice or he should dismiss it that he took one too many attacks during this duel. Either or, he couldn't afford to think about it.

"Fine then, like always; I'll trust my deck and my gut," Seirus mumbled with a smirk before facing forward at his opponent head on, "It's now or never! This will decide who will walk out of here intact! My Turn! Draw!"

Seirus Hand: 2

The Nexus duelist looked at the card with a serious yet satisfied look, "Thank you, my deck! Even though it's not what I would normally want, this will do just the trick! But first, I must pay the penalty for my trap earlier and banish the top 3 cards from my deck! Then, I activate the spell card; Nexus Archive! With this, I can target 1 Nexus monster in my field and decrease it's level between the ranges of 1 through 4! Then, I am able to summon a Nexus monster equal to the number of levels I chose to decrease from my deck! However, until the end phase, I am only allowed to perform Synchro Summons!"

"Tch, resilient till the bitter end. . .!" Ludo grumbled.

"That's right! With no further to do, I decrease Raikos's level by 3 in order to summon Nexus Blade Hero, Edger from my deck!" Seirus announced, his monster clad in blue and yellow armor with a white shining sword with a green outline appearing onto the field.

(Lvl 3 Light: Nexus Blade Hero, Edger, 1500ATK/200DEF)

Nexus Hero, Raikos Lvl: 7 → 4

"Then, I'll activate Edger's effect! By discarding 1 card from my hand, I can increase his level by either 1 or 2 until the end of the turn! I choose to increase his level by 1!" Seirus added.

Nexus Blade Hero, Edger Lvl: 3 → 4

Both monsters suddenly began to become shrouded in a blue and green aura as Seirus's Luminous Key began to glow brighter and brighter until both Steria and Ludo finally took note of the phenomenon. The Neferious executive stumbled back at what was happening, "Wh-what!? What in the Hell is going on!?" To his dismay, Seirus didn't answer and continued with his move.

"The requirements have been met! I tune my now level 4 Nexus Hero, Raikos with my now level 4 Nexus Blade Hero, Edger!" His two monsters took to the sky as Raikos glowed completely for a brief moment before separating into multiple green rings while Edger was completely enveloped in them. In a sudden burst of power, the two monsters exploded into a multi-colored torrent of energy that hovered from above as Seirus chanted, "Courage born to carry on the wishes of the forsaken. Let your sanctified light be the way for heroes to find their resolve! Synchro Summon!"

In that moment, the card illuminated the area along with Seirus's pendant before unveiling the new Synchro Monster completely; the card's color returning to how it should be with the imagery and text fully intact, "Come forth! Hero of Origins- Nexus Hero, Xenobrave Blademaster!" Upon his call, the energy then burst into a rainbow colored pillar that towered the waterfall and illuminated the waters. Little by little, the monster's appearance was revealed. First being his mystical primarily-white skin tight suit with shining-gold linings and a helmet matching it's color scheme. Around it's waist was a cloth cloak matching his suit that was held up by an armor-plate buckle with a gold "X" in the center and on each side of the armor plates. As his gold haired flowed behind him underneath his helmet, his rainbow colored blade with a hilt that matched the white and gold layout he had going shined in silhouette with the rainbow pillar before it faded away as soon as it swung it's played to the side.

(Lvl 8 Light: Nexus Hero, Xenobrave Bravemaster, 2800ATK/2000DEF)

"I must say, flashy performance indeed. But in the end it won't amount to anything," Ludo admitted.

"Are you sure about that? Because this will decide everything! I activate Xenobrave's effect! When this card is Synchro Summoned, I can target 1 level 8 or lower Nexus Extra Deck monster from my graveyard or Extra Deck and equip it to this card! I choose to equip Nexus Dimension Dragon, Xernus! Go, Connecting Courage!" Seirus said as Xenobrave brushed the blunt of his blade with his hand while pointing it towards his opponent. Shortly after, his blade began to glow with a faint spirit of Xernus behind him, providing him with a righteous roar, "Now by paying half of my life points, I can activate Xenobrave's other effect! While this card is equipped with a Nexus monster, I can copy it's effects until the end phase! By doing this, I can now use Xernus's effect to banish 2 Nexus Hero, Raikos and Nexus Blade Hero, Edger from my graveyard in order to lower your Proskenion's ATK by 200 for each of its level while also raising Xenobrave's ATK for the same amount! Support him, Xernus! Gamma Ray Drain!"

Seirus's LP: 200 → 100

With that said, Xenobrave's sword glowed a pulsating energy wave that struck and weakened Proskenion while filling him with more power.

Despia Proskenion: 4300ATK → 2100ATK

Nexus Hero, Xenobrave Bravemaster: 2800ATK → 5000ATK

"Battle!" he declared, "Xenobrave Blademaster! Destroy Proskenion and finish this duel! Blade Slash of Origins!" Seirus commanded.

His monster leapt into the air as the demon king of the theatre glared back at him. With a tight grip around the hilt of his marvelous blade, he lifted his sword high and swung down at full force to unleash a large, multi-colored energy slash down on his opponent. Much to Steria's relief, she was quick to announce with glee, "If this connects then he wins!" Hearing this, Ludo growled before quickly unveiling his evil grin.

"Yeah right! I activate my trap's effect! By sending both Libitum and it to the graveyard, I can target 1 Despia or Despian monster on my field and increase it's attack points equal to the amount that Libitum had! It's over, send him to the abyss, Despia Proskenion! Climatic Miasma of the Demise!" Ludo cackled as his Libitum disappeared into particles that flowed into Proskenion.

Despia Proskenion: 2100ATK → 5200ATK

Much to Steria's horror, Proskenion unleashed his dark miasma that pushed back and slowly began to overtake the energy slash. All the while Ludo cackled manically like a mad man, "This is the end, boy! I'll thank you for providing me with such a marvelous performance and a splendid climax but now your life points shall be extinguished by my darkness! Now show me. . .SHOW ME YOUR DESPAIR!"

. . .But, he didn't. Rather, his eyes were still lit with the desire to win!

"Your life points are the one that will go out," Seirus corrected.

"What. . ." Ludo muttered, his grin cracking immediately.

It was now or never as Seirus unleashed his final move, "I activate Xenobrave's final effect! During damage calculations when he declares an attack, I can target 1 Nexus monster equipped with this card and shuffle it back into the deck! Then, for each monster's level, he gains 300 ATK points!" Just in time, as Xenobrave watched his first slash wave fight on with everything it had, the afterimage of Xernus faded into small particles before entering his blade to give it an aqua-blue glow.

Nexus Hero, Xenobrave Bravemaster: 5000ATK → 7400ATK

"Once more push, Xenobrave Bravemaster! Dimension Origin; Blade Slash!" Seirus cried.

Responding to his wish, Xenobrave raised his sword once more and swung his blade down to unleash a second energy wave that was aqua-blue in color into the miasma. When it met the previous slash wave, the size doubled into a large light blue wave that emitted multi color rays that shattered the dark miasma before finally ramming itself into the demonic entity. Ludo couldn't believe his eyes as his monster was engulfed completely before the explosion eradicated it before making its way to him.

Before he realized it, he was engulfed by the blast, his body pressure from being blown away as all he could do was scream with a mix of anger and pain, "N-NOOOOOOOO! GWAAAAAAGH!" Inevitably, the ensuing shockwaves sent him flying before hitting the ground hard as the smoke covered his side of the field with his life points finally depleting.

Ludo's LP: 700 → 0

Winner Of The Duel: Seirus Yuzaki!

Before long, the smoke cleared to unveil the unconscious Neferious member laid out on his back. Regardless, Seirus finally took the chance to catch his breath, "Hah. . .hah. . .hah. That's game. A stressful and thrilling one to say the-" He stopped mid sentence as he felt his body begin to fall forward a bit but he knew this was no time for him to pass out so he quickly caught himself before his knees gave way.

"You alright. . .?" Steria asked from behind with a concerned look on her face.

Assuringly, Seirus gave her a thumbs up and a smirk, "I'm fine. But, I'm not sure if the other guy will be." They both looked over at Ludo's unconscious body. From what they could tell, at least he was still breathing but he wasn't going to be getting up anytime soon. That said, the next best course of action was definitely finding their way out of this forest.

"Hey, Steria. . ." Seirus muttered.

Her eyes focus on Ludo's body before responding, "Yeah. . ."

"We should get going. If we're lucky, we can find the exit quickly and get back to the hotel to regroup with the others," Seirus suggested.

It was odd for him to be so thorough with his plans even though this one was a bit on the wishful thinking side of things. However, after everything that has happened during this trip and especially this duel, there was a lot on her mind right now. And since he was practically her savior, she didn't feel like providing a counter-plan to his own and simply complied with his request, "Okay. . ."

A/N: Phew, first duel of the return and I must admit; I did feel rusty getting to writing duels. About this chapter, this marks the beginning of the conflict in the Astraea Conflict Arc. This chapter mainly features not only one of the sneak peaks (for Fanfiction readers, the previews are on Wattpad lol) Nexus Hero, Slash Raikos but also Seirus to gain a new Synchro Monster; Nexus Hero, Xenobrave Blademaster. In conjunction with more instances of the anomalies of both his deck and now pendant. Anyways, there isn't really much to talk plot wise other than me setting up some character development in the future since again, this was a duel chapter. I hope you enjoyed this chapter of Yugioh Re:Seize! Until next time!
