Mason's Point of View
Well, this was it – I was about to become a big brother again. I wish that my mom would have at least told us what the gender of the baby was going to be. I was personally hoping for a brother. It wouldn't be the end of the world if I had another sister, but I'd rather have a brother. I could teach him to hunt, fish, fight... anything.
At the moment Zayne, Charlie and I was standing outside of the hospital – in the smoker's area. It was just a small pavilion with a few seats and a few tables with ashtrays.
Zayne had stolen a cigarette from his dad's pack and had it lit. He took a couple drags off of it – causing him to cough pretty hard. But there was no denying how cool it made him look.
"Your mom is going to kill you if she finds out you are smoking." Charlie said with a smirk.
Zayne shrugged his shoulders – passing the cigarette over to Charlie. "My dad smokes – there no reason I can't."
Charlie inspected the cigarette, before putting it to his lips and inhaling sharply. Instantly he was coughing and hacking as well. "Gross, this tastes awful." He quickly passed it over to me.
I glanced down at it warily. I've never smoked – honestly the thought scared me a little bit. But I didn't want to look like a coward in front of the guys. I put the end of the cigarette between my lips and lightly breathed in – just enough to cough a little bit. I felt my smoke hit into my lungs and set my entire throat ablaze. I quickly passed it back to Zayne.
"I'm not so sure about this. That cigarette kinda burns my throat." I said making a face.
Zayne sighed, taking another puff from the cigarette. "Look, I went out of my way to get us this one. I heard its tradition to smoke after a baby is born. Usually, the family would all get cigars. This is just showing our support to your new sibling."
I reluctantly nodded. "Alright, I guess we can try to smoke this whole thing."
Charlie groaned, but conceded as Zayne passed the cigarette back to him.
It probably took us fifteen minutes to completely smoke the stupid thing. And worse yet – my stomach was feeling pretty sick afterwards. I knew it was a bad idea. Charlie and I seemed to be the only ones nauseous after smoking. Zayne didn't seem bothered at all.
"I'm guessing this wasn't the first time you have ever smoked?" I wondered, leaning against the wall of the pavilion.
"Nah, I got one off my sister's boyfriend once in a while." Zayne admitted, running his hand through his light blonde hair.
"Woah, Zoey is finally dating someone? Does your mom know?" Charlie asked with a raised brow.
"Nope, so do me a favor and don't mention it to her. If she finds out my mom will lose her mind."
"Well - I mean, who is it?" I asked with an eager smile. As much as I hated to admit it – I love gossip.
"Ryan Lahote, but like I said – keep it to yourself." Zayne said quietly as a frown came to his face.
"That's Paul and Rachel's son, isn't it? They are pretty new to Ribbonwood. They are part of Jacob's pack, right?" Charlie asked with a look of surprise.
"Yep, Paul is the shapeshifter, I don't think Rachel can. However, Rachel is Jacob Black's older sister." Zayne commented. "So, I guess it's possible she may be able to."
I shook my head slowly. "That's such a bad move. Surely, Zoey knows that Ryan will most likely imprint on someone. She is practically asking to get her heart broken."
Zayne hesitated, then ducked his head slightly. It appeared that he was deliberating over something in his head. His brief silence must have tipped Charlie off to something.
"He already imprinted, didn't he? On Zoey." Charlie asked with amusement coming to his face.
"Keep your mouth shut. If my mom finds out – she is going to want to kick the Lahote family out of Ribbonwood." Zayne said with a serious look on his face.
"Why do you think that? Your mom is pretty cool... a little scary at times. But she doesn't strike me as someone that would run people out of town." I said with a slight frown coming to my face.
"Look, she may never admit this – but she isn't the biggest fan of werewolves. Every time we go past the reservation, she has more and more complaints about the wolves."
"But aunt Ezra was imprinted on by uncle Seth. I don't think it's that big of a deal." Charlie said shrugging his shoulders.
"I know – Look, just don't tell anyone. I shouldn't have even told you two. Zoey is counting on me to keep this a secret."
"Alright, no worries. Charlie and I will keep quiet." I said with a long exhale. I would have loved to tell everyone about this, especially Addison. She would have gotten a kick out of this news. Since Zoey is always pushing her buttons and teasing her – this would have given Addie a chance to poke back and pick on her.
Out of the corner of my eye I noticed something off in the distant. It was a robed figure – walking rigidly towards the entrance of the hospital. I couldn't make any details of the person; they were completely shrouded in dark grey robes – from head to toe. I couldn't even tell if it was a man or woman.
I was very unsettled – something felt very off. I turned to the others. "Hey, check out that creep over there." I said nodding to the direction of the hooded figure.
Zayne and Charlie turned to the direction I was gesturing, but confused looks came to their faces as they scanned the entire area.
"What are you talking about? Were?" Zayne asked with an annoyed look coming to his face.
"Are you blind, they are right over there – about to head inside the hospital." I said now pointing directly at the mysterious person.
Again, Zayne and Charlie looked – but neither one of them seemed to notice anything. It was as if I was the only one able to see this person. Could it be an ability? Are they a vampire?
"Come on Mason, don't be an ass – no one is even there." Charlie said with a frown.
At this point – they already disappeared through the hospital doors. There was no way I was going to let this go. Whoever that was... I didn't trust them. I've never seen them in Ribbonwood before... and grandpa Edward isn't allowing new residents at this time. The last thing I want is some weirdo messing around my mom, while she is in the middle of birthing my new sibling.
Without another word I went jogging after the stranger. I could hear Charlie and Zayne calling after me, but I didn't bother turning around. I only had one thing on my mind – and that was to protect my family.
Alice's Point of View
The pain was unbearable – but familiar. I was thankful that this would be the last time I would go through this. No more children after this, I am done. My family is complete.
Darius was to my right – holding my hand tightly. A look of panic was on his face. He always was so nervous while I was in labor. With my every yelp and cry; it would drive him insane. Because, for once, there was nothing he could do to help take my pain away. He was powerless – and that truly scared him.
"It's almost over my dear, you are doing great." He said stroking my face. "Just a few more pushes." Darius was doing his best to encourage me – but the pain was making it hard to focus on anything he was saying.
Dr. Estelle was at the bottom of the bed, with a calm, stoic expression. She had performed most of the deliveries in this hospital. She was the best of the bunch. That's why Darius made certain that Dr. Estelle would be on stand-by for when it was time for the baby to come. As co-workers they seemed to get along really well – to the point I was slightly jealous. They didn't even have to speak to each other to communicate. I found myself more bothered by this then I would like to admit.
But I trusted Darius with my entire heart and soul. He would never do something unfaithful. I've known the man his entire life. I've cared for him since he was an infant himself. There wasn't anything that I didn't know about Darius Charles Cullen.
"Okay Alice – you just need one more, big push." Dr. Estelle said gently.
I squeezed my eyes shut tightly and did as she said. With all the remaining energy I could manage, I pushed. I could feel a small rip, a gush of warm blood trickle down my legs and an overwhelming pain erupts from between my legs. I threw my head back to let out one more shriek of anguish. I could feel myself getting lighter – then there was a soft cry. The whole scenario was all so familiar. The baby had made their way into this world in one piece.
Eagerly I peeked over to see the nurse cleaning off the baby. Darius instantly leaned over and pecked my lips, before heading over to the infant. Darius would be the doctor of our child – while Dr. Estelle would be my doctor for the remainder of my time here.
I ignored what my doctor was doing and just watched towards my husband and child. "Well... a boy or a girl?" I asked with excitement.
Darius now had the baby, he wrapped it neatly before walking over to me so I could get a better look. "A girl, she looks just like you."
It felt like my heart was going to beat out of my chest as I got my first glimpse of my daughter. She, really did look a lot like me. So tiny and precious. I reached my arms out towards her – Darius didn't hesitate to place her right in my arms.
"Are you going to stick with the girl's name we picked out?" He asked as he watched the two of us. His expression held nothing but bliss and pride.
I nodded; feeling tears stinging in my eyes. "Yeah, Amelia Mary Cullen. It's a perfect name."
"I couldn't agree more." An unfamiliar voice called out from the doorway.
Everyone turned their attention to the intruder. It was a woman; dressed in long grey robes – head to toe. There was a feeling of uneasiness filling the room.
"Sorry miss, this is a private room. I'm going to have to ask you to leave." Dr. Estelle spoke calmly.
The strange woman glanced towards the doctor and with the flick of her wrist Dr. Estelle went completely still.
"Ma'am you need to leave this room, there is a waiting room down the hall and to the left. If you could give me a few minutes I can help you if you need to be seen." Darius said taking a few steps towards the woman.
My hand instinctually went out towards him, but not in time to reach him. Just like with Dr. Estelle, the robed woman flicked her wrist in Darius' direction. He went just as still. He didn't move an inch.
"Darius?" I called to him worriedly. I then looked to the other doctor. "Taylor, are you okay?"
Neither one of them answered me.
"They can't answer you. They are under my silence spell." The woman said taking a couple more cautious steps towards me.
"Stay back, stay away from us." I warned her, trying to move the baby even further from her reach. I would die before letting anything happen to this child.
I was so confused and terrified. How did that woman do that? She said she had put them under a spell? Was this person on some kind of drugs? Was she mentally-ill.
"Mary Alice Brandon, I've come for your child. She is the one." The woman crept even closer – her arms extending out.
How did this freak know my full name?
"Who are you? Stop – don't come any closer." I commanded with as much conviction as I could muster.
At my tone – the strange woman paused; as if my words had frozen her. That's when I noticed the strange violet color of her eyes. It was so beautiful, but I've never seen anyone with eyes like that.
"I thought the divine goddess turned her back on you – how do you still hold this much magic?" The woman muttered. "My name is Felicity – we have met once before – although you were only an infant."
"What the hell are you talking about?" I snapped at her, cuddling Amelia closely to my chest. Thankfully she was quiet, but I knew she was going to need tended to. She was just born only a few minutes ago.
"I was the witch that blessed you with the ability to see the future. It's customary for brand new witches to be given a special ability all their own. The divine goddess whispered in my ear that you – would receive the future telling ability."
She was completely out of her mind. I could sense the danger that we were in. I scanned the room for a quick exit – but she left no clear path.
"You are insane – leave this room and stay away from us." I hissed at her with a frown.
But something was bothering me about all of this. She knew about my abilities. She knew that even when I was human – I could see the future. That wasn't information that everyone knew about. I kept most of my past private. Very few knew all the details.
"Didn't you ever wonder why you were able to see the future? Or did your no-good parents successfully make you believe that you were crazy?" Felicity responded, slowly taking her hood down to expose her short – ebony black head of hair. It was startling how similar we looked. She could have been a twin. We appeared closely the same age and shared so many of the same features. There was no doubt in my mind that she had to be related to me.
"W-why do we look the same?"
"Isn't it obvious? I'm your real mother." She replied matter-of-factly. "You are a witch. Just like me and your bastard father."
My instant reaction was to deny that statement. There was no way. My parents would have told me – that I was adopted. They would have most likely thrown that in my face every chance they had. Plus, instead of sending me to the asylum – they would have just returned me to whatever adoption place had me.
"You're a liar. I think it's about time you get the hell out of here. As much as I hated my parents – I know they would have told me that I was adopted."
"Silly girl, don't you know how magic works at all? It only took one simple spell. It's called familier. The moment I activated the spell it created fake memories in your parent's heads. Your mother had memories of giving birth to you and naming you. It was the same with your father. From the moment I placed you in their arms and walked away – you became their actual daughter – but only in their minds. You are my blood. Not theirs. But I found it easier to make things this way. I thought they may offer you a better life – if they believe that you are their real daughter."
"If all of this is true, why are you here now? Why wait until now to show up into my life?" I asked – feeling tears slid down my cheeks.
"I've been keeping a watchful eye on you since the day you were born. You didn't need me. And when you became a vampire... well I couldn't bear to even look at you. But I did. Because the divine goddess commanded me to. I was glad that I did – I watched you become a wonderful woman. Find happiness and love. Have children of your own. But once you were turned human again you lost your gifts. That's when I decided it was time to let you go. If the divine goddess has turned her back on you – and took back the ability she gave you – then I would have no further use of you."
"No further use of me? What does that mean?" I hated to admit it – but her comments were cutting into me like a knife. I hadn't even met this woman officially and she was already to give up on me as well. Was I truly that unlovable? How does Darius remain so faithful and loving?
"It's simple dear. I've been the head of my coven for over four thousand years. I've given birth to many offspring, none of which the divine goddess accepted to take my position. She had selected you – but now that you have lost your gifts you are now unfavorable. However, the divine goddess has spoken to me – and Amelia was born with a large amount of magic. She will take my place as the new head of the coven – when she comes of age."
"This is all completely crazy, no. The answer is no. Amelia will have nothing to do with this witch business. There is no such thing. It's just impossible." I said slowly shaking my head.
"You don't have to believe me, vampires, werewolves and witches have been largely believed to be just fairytales. It's better for most humans to think they don't exist. It helps them sleep better at night – thinking monsters don't live among them." She continued with a half-smile.
She had a point. The existence of vampires and werewolves is just as hard to wrap your head around. It made sense that there might be more supernatural creatures in the world. But I would have thought I would have come across a witch before this point. Why was this happening now?
"Regardless, Ameila will become the head of the coven – when she turns eighteen, she will find her way to me and accept her role without question – I've seen her future. I'm never wrong."
So, Felicity can see the future. That ability was something I used to be able to do as well. I didn't realize that it was something gifted to me. This was all so much to take in.
"I won't let it happen," I muttered, looking down at my daughter. She was looking up at me – appearing to be in a daze. I quickly looked over to see Felicity had closed in the distance between her and us. Her hand was now hovering over Amelia's head. I moved Amelia away quickly. "What the hell are you doing?"
Felicity sighed in relief. "The divine goddess has ordered me to give Amelia her gift – her ability. Just like the day you were born. This is our tradition. Amelia has been given one of the strongest abilities you could possibly give a witch. It is my pleasure to bestow it on her."
Before any further exchange of words, I jumped at the sound of the doors of the room opening with some force. Mason stepped through with a look on his face that I've never seen before.
"You stay away from my family." Mason growled in fury.
Felicity turned her sights on him – and as their eyes met, I watched in shock as Mason's eyes turned a deep violet – just like Felicity.
"Your son has awakened his magic. Congratulations my daughter. However – the divine goddess has no plans for him. He has too much of his half breed father's blood to be considered worthy of a gift." Felicity said turned back to me.
"Stop your rambling. It's time for you to go. Now – before I make you leave." Mason said marching over and getting between Felicity and I. He took her by the wrist and pulled her away.
Felicity flinched at Mason's touch – but allowed herself to get pulled away. She didn't put up a fight. At the same time, Mason reacted to the contact that he made with her as well. A glare came to his face now. "You were involved with the kid getting tied to the tree and burned."
Felicity raised her brow – suspicion sprang onto her face. "An innocent child getting burned alive... doesn't sound like anything the divine goddess would approve of." Suddenly a blank express came to her face – briefly the both of them were silent.
Mason continued to glare at her – growing more and more furious by the second. Finally, Felicity snapped out of it and looked at the both of us with sorrow in her eyes. "I'm afraid it's too late. My coven has begun falling apart. They are acting out. They have lost their way. I must return to them before anything else happens." She now was moving swiftly towards the door.
She stopped just for a moment to meet my gaze. "I will be back for Amelia. If she is to take her place as the head of this coven – she will have to be raised the way that I was. I will take care and raise her myself. You won't have to worry about a thing." Felicity glanced back to Dr. Estelle and Darius and raised her hand. "Release."
As soon as she said those words I watched as they both started to move and breathe again. Felicity had disappeared completely – leaving Mason and I in confusion and fear.
Darius scanned the room quickly – appearing concerned. "That woman... I can't …. I'm not quite sure … what just happened." He rubbed his head for a moment.
Dr. Estelle now moved to my side. "Never mind that for a moment. We need to tend to Alice and this baby. After that – we can figure out what happened."
"You're right Taylor – as usual." Darius sighed with a nod. "May I please have our daughter for a little bit. She is going to need some assessments and of course some feeding."
I had very little strength in my arms at the moment – but I was able to move Amelia to Darius before letting my arms fall tiredly to the bed. That whole situation was very draining. I had a lot to think about. I wasn't even sure, how I was going to explain all this to Darius. It all sounded too crazy to be true. And even worse yet, Felicity may be directly involved with that poor kid getting burned. She said something about her coven doing this. They were acting out. I didn't understand a lot of it.
Darius now had Amelia - he took her out of the room. The very moment that I could no longer see her – I began to hyperventilate. What if that monster was waiting for her to snatch her away from Darius?
Dr. Estelle analyzed me closely and at the machine next to my bed that was reading my vital signs. "Alice, you need to calm down. Your blood pressure is going up – significantly."
I closed my eyes and tried to calm myself – but my heart was racing so hard in my chest that I could barely breathe. I was semi-aware of Taylor putting an oxygen mask on me. It helped me breathe a little easier. But I was still in full panic.
Mason came to my side now – seeing that I was in distress. He lightly placed a hand on my shoulder. The second that he did – I saw an image pop into my head. It was Darius – carrying Amelia to the exam room. He was measuring her reflexes at this moment.
I looked to Mason in shock. "How did you do that?"
Mason shrugged his shoulders. "When I touched that freak – I started feeling really weird. She showed me a vision of the past. I saw the faces of those that tied Julian up. I could feel some kind of strange energy getting pushed and pulled between us. I tried to... pull the energy to myself and when I did... it just stayed. I think... I took some power away from her. I really can't explain it any further than that." Mason said with a nervous look.
Now Mason was involved with this nightmare. No. I wouldn't let him get any further involved. Whatever was happening – it wasn't something for young kids to get involved. I would take care of this myself. I wouldn't let anything happen to my children. Witch or not, I wouldn't let these monsters into our lives.
Bella's Point of View
Everyone was waiting patiently to hear the news about Alice's delivery. I was beginning to get a little nervous – I thought the delivery would be over by now. I hoped that there weren't any complications. Ezra and Kora had taken a walk down to the gift shop to get Alice some flowers. Seth returned to his shift at the station. Daniel decided to head back home with Senika – she had been getting fussy. Elijah and Leah had gone home. Rose was sitting next to me – flipping through a magazine, while Louis threw on a lab coat and went to his office to finish some last-minute paperwork. The kids were outside – playing on the playground.
Edward went to get us some coffee, he would be back any minute. The coffee cart was just down the hall. This was a rare moment for me – it was just Rose and I – no children. The peace and quiet was bliss. Another hour of this and I would probably fall asleep right in this chair.
Something caught my attention – I suddenly watched a robed woman come walking out from the delivery rooms. I wondered who she was here to see. And why she was dressed in such strange robes. I didn't recognize her. But the distress on her face made it hard for me to ignore her.
"Hey, excuse me miss, are you alright?" I called out to her. She instantly paused in her tracks to look at me. Shock was all over her face.
Rose looked up and me – then to the direction I was looking. "Who are you talking to Bella?"
"That woman – standing right over there." I pointed directly to the woman.
Rose squinted her eyes, scanning all around, before shrugging her shoulders. "Bella - I think the stress has finally made you lose your mind. No one is there."
The woman paused, slowly coming over to us – her eyes were a strange purple color. When she was only a step away from me – I noticed that Rose had completely gone still. As if she had fallen asleep. She wasn't moving, or breathing.
"How can you see me? You are only human, correct?" The woman asked with a raised brow.
"What have you done to my friend?" I asked with narrowed eyes. I've never seen power like this.
"It won't harm her, I've just subdued her, it will wear off after we have a little chat. I mean no harm to you. I just want to know – how can a human see me." She spoke politely. I couldn't make out any features of her – her hood was keeping her completely hidden. And her robes made it hard to tell any physical features of her body as well.
"I'm sorry miss, but I have no idea." I stated, folding my arms across my chest. I was on high alert. I didn't know her and I didn't trust her. With the school shooting and that poor kid getting burned on the tree... I didn't trust anyone that I didn't personally know at this point.
"With your permission, could I check for something? I promise I won't hurt you. I just need to take your hand for just a second." The woman said holding her hand out.
Part of me wanted to refuse, but another part of me was so curious. I couldn't help but place my hand in her's.
Her hands were very cold – like touching an ice cube. I felt a cloud of energy bounce up and down my body. It made the hairs on my body stand. I had to force myself to not rip my hand away. The feeling was just so weird.
"Oh, well that explains that. You were blessed by the divine goddess. You are a very special human." The woman smiled brilliantly at me.
"What - the divine goddess, who is that?"
Her smile widened at my reply. "She is a deity. She created her own species and watches over them with love and mercy. She is one of four others. Each created their own species. Vampires, werewolves, humans and witches."
This all was news to me; I've never heard of anything about it. I thought that Carlisle had extensive knowledge on all supernatural beings. But nothing in his manuscripts mentioned witches... or the creation of vampires and werewolves.
"You mean there are witches? I've never seen one. Are you sure they exist?" I asked with a puzzled look coming to my face.
"You have met a witch. The proof is written all over you. Look," The woman said, lightly raising my arm. When she did, I gasped – as dark markings appeared across my skin. It looked like intricate tattoos... I couldn't tell what the strange markings were... it was some kind of pattern.
"What is this?" My heart began to race in my chest.
"It's a blessing. A witch must have crossed your path and put this on you. It's old, but stable. Whoever gave this to you... must truly care about you. They wanted to protect you from harm. This blessing allows you to see through deception."
I was having a hard time believing all of this. Of course, if it wasn't for the fact of seeing these markings - I wouldn't have believed it at all.
"I don't know of any witches... Honestly, but I'd love to learn more."
"Unfortunately, witches are very private with their identities, from years of being hunted and chased, they don't reveal themselves to any other species." The woman said with a slight sadness to her smile. "That's why, you will forget this conversation. You will forget everything about me and you're blessing. As if none of this even happened." She said softly, before everything went black. I slipped out of consciousness.
I wasn't sure how long I was out – but Edward's soft voice jostled me awake. The concern on his face had me slightly apprehensive.
"Is Alice alright?" It was the first thing that came to my mind.
"Yes, the delivery went fine, she had a healthy baby girl. They decided on the name Amelia." Edward said with a crooked smile. The concern seemed to wash off his face in an instant.
"I knew she was going to have a girl; it was just a feeling." Rose slid into the conversation with an excited grin. "I can't wait to see the little angel."
"When can we go in and see them?" I nodded eagerly.
Edward frowned slightly. "Actually, Alice is requesting no visitors for the rest of the day. I'm not sure why, she wanted to relay the message to you – that she was sorry, but she just can't take the risk."
That was strange. It didn't sound like Alice. She had been so excited – with her other pregnancies she had me in the room with her only minutes after the birth. Why was this time different? Did something happen that she wasn't tell us? Was the baby really healthy? No, Darius wouldn't lie about something like that.
"Where is Darius? I'm sure he might have more answers for us?" I said mirroring Edward's expression.
"Or at least he might have a picture of the baby. I stuck around to see the baby. I can't believe I've wasted my time. What is going through Alice's head?" Rose huffed – shaking her head in disbelief.
"Everyone is responding carefully, Darius, Alice and Dr. Estelle. I couldn't get any further details. I've never missed my ability to read minds... except for this moment. I know something deeper is going on here. I feel it." Edward said quietly.
"Well, I guess for now we can follow Alice's wishes and give her some space with her new baby. No sense in waiting around here." I said with a slight nod.
"Actually, Darius said that he would like you to meet him in exam room three. He has ordered a blood test, to see if you are pregnant – my sweet." Edward said pecking the top of my head.
I groaned inwardly. "That boy of ours is persistent."
"He is as stubborn as his mother." Edward chuckled as he helped me to my feet.
Rose sighed loudly. "I guess I'll see you two at the council meeting tomorrow." She waved at us.
"See you then." I waved back, before turning to walk with Edward down the hall to find the room we needed to go.
This hospital was huge, I couldn't even imagine Darius owning this place and really being in charge of everyone. I was truly proud of him.
Ingrid was waiting inside the exam room – her supplies were already laid out. A sweet smile was on her face as we entered.
"Bella, Edward – it's nice to see you." She spoke kindly.
Ingrid has always been a beautiful young woman. Her skin was a faint ivory, not like the traditional sun-kissed skin of the La Push pack. Her hair was a soft pastel brown, much lighter than mine. Her eyes were an angelic blue. She was shorter than me, maybe five feet - two and the curves of her body were full and busty.
"Nice to see you too," I grinned.
"I hope things are well." Edward nodded lightly.
"Oh well – I can't complain." She answered with a weak smile.
She and Jacob married a few years back – they had a few kids of their own. It was nice seeing Jacob so happy. He was much happier with Ingrid then he ever was with Valerie. Although there have been times that I've seen Jacob and Valerie spending time together. Valerie joined a small group of elite fighters that worked hand and hand with the police force. She spent a lot of time at the reservation among the wolves. It was where she felt the most comfortable.
"We are just going to take some blood." Ingrid said as I sat down.
She lightly took my arm and wrapped a band around the upper part of my arm – above the elbow. She scanned over my arm, pushing down in a few spots on my forearm. She picked the inner crease of my elbow to slide the needle in. There was a sharp burning pinch, but as long as I avoided looking at it – I could manage to sit still. If I saw the blood – I would most likely faint or get light headed.
Edward could sense my discomfort – I felt his hand rubbing circles on my back. I just focused on his touch and let myself relax. The whole process was only a few minutes, but I was thankful when it was over.
"It will only take a few hours – I'm sure Darius will call you with the result. You guys are free to go." Ingrid said with a stiff nod.
"Is something on your mind Ingrid. You seem a bit more tense than usual?" Edward stopped her before she left the room.
Ingrid paused – looking between the both of us with anxiety. "Well... I'm not sure if you two are aware... but Victoria is pregnant..."
"We did hear about that." I said quietly.
"Well... I know who the father is. I don't want to withhold the information... but I'm afraid if I do tell the others, it may hurt people and cause untrustful feelings among two lovers." Ingrid said – now pacing back and forth.
"Does anyone else know?"
"No, just me – I was going to tell Jacob, I just haven't had the chance to." She continued, glancing at us a few times.
"Just do what you think is right. There is a good chance that Victoria will mention who the father is on her own time." Edward said simply.
Ingrid nodded – exhaling noisily. "Yes, you may be right about that, I'll think it over. Again, it was really nice seeing the both of you. Take care." With that Ingrid left the room – seeming a bit calmer than before.
I hoped that Ingrid was going to be okay. I would hate to be carrying that information. Especially if it means that someone had an affair with Victoria... even locked up in jail - she was still destroying families.
Today ended up being a very strange day.
Let me know what you all think of this chapter.
