A/N: Warning – This fic will contain lots of crack and OOCness. This is yet another AU inspired in a movie, this time is 'She is the man'. It's a teen romance with comedy.

I apologize for grammar errors, English isn't my main language. I'm thinking on maybe translating this into Spanish and/or Portuguese too, maybe, who knows.

Prologue

Now, one must wonder what would lead someone, in a good mental state, to do what she was about to do. The answer is no, there's nothing that would lead to that. Not even her burning passion for the sport should made her do that. Heck, her parents must be facepalming at her from heaven or wherever they were.

Yet, there she was, in front of Konoha high, dressed as a man, for she would pretend, or try to pretend, to be one for the rest of her last high school year.

Tenten's life was good. She may be an orphan, but she had the best twin brother she could wish for. At a young age, her parents died in an airplane crash, leaving her and her brother alone in the world, they only had themselves and their butler, Julio. They were wealthy though, and even at almost eighteen years old, after a little more than ten years after their parents' death, they still had enough money for their lifetime.

Tenshi Amarai was the definition of easy going, always cheerful and almost never serious or angry. If it didn't mean that either his twin, Tenten, nor Julio were in danger, the man wouldn't care much and be ok with everything. His not-so-great grades were an example, the man would rather read his manga than read his textbooks. Tenten was the one who would always be serious and do the hard thinking. She was still cheerful and playful, don't get her wrong, but between her and her twin, she was the one with the good head.

So it was a surprise when she started that conversation with Tenshi.

"I want to go to Konoha high" she said one day, sitting in front of her twin, face filled with determination. Tenshi looked up from his manga, giving her a confused look.

"Good for you Ten" he said patting her head and going back to his reading.

"I'll use your name for it" if before she had his curiosity, now she had his full attention. Setting down his manga, he looked at her astonished.

"And why exactly?"

"I want to get into the volleyball team" she said, her face still gleaming from determination. Tenshi pondered, his sister was a freak for volleyball, and he knew that the Whirlpool Tech High didn't have a good volleyball team, heck, he was surprised she didn't quit earlier. The team consisted in just girly girls who were too afraid of touching the ball, thus, they were in the worst league. The men's team would never accept her as they already knew he and her, and also had a grudge against her particularly, as she always with bickered about how a woman could play as well as any man. Oh, and they were in the worst league as well, so not cheers for them. On the other hand, Konoha high was the best school of the country, meaning extremely high expectations in everything. That going for grades to even how the bathrooms were cleaned. Their volleyball team was top notch. The only problem, it only had volleyball for men.

"Alright, suit yourself" Tenshi said, grinning at his sister. He really didn't care much. Sure, she would go to another city, and he wouldn't see her much, but hey, the mansions would be only for him, and there were also video calls they could make.

"You really don't mind me using your name?" She inquired, making sure he was ok with it. He just waived his hand at her.

"Nah, if it makes you happy, go for it. Plus, I know you love volleyball and want a better chance." Tenshi picked his manga again and went back into reading.

Tenten grinned and tackled her brother, giving him a bear hug.

"You're the best, y'know! Usually someone would go against this idea!" she told him while grinning.

"Heh, well, what can I say? I'm the best. Now if you excuse me, I need to know what happens with Deku after he discovers a new power" Tenshi tried to wriggle away from Tenten's power grip.

"Well, I'll also need your help" she said, smiling sheepishly at him after he was out of her grasp. He blinked.

"And how would I be able to help you?"

"I may be tomboyish, but I'm still a woman, and I need to learn how to be a man..." she lingered, hoping her twin would get the point. After looking at his blank face, she knew he didn't get it. "I'll need you to teach me how to behave like a man" and then, Tenshi made an 'o' face of understanding. Tenten rolled her eyes at the slowness of her brother.

"Well, I can try? Probably Julio will be able to help you better though..." he scratched the back of his head. Being a man came naturally to him, how the heck would he teach something like that to someone?

"I may help with what?" And speaking of the man, Julio waltz in, holding a tray with iced tea and cake.

"Tenten wants to pretend to be a boy and use my name to enter another high school" Tenshi told him frankly, wincing when Tenten elbowed him.

"Well, it is something like that" she confessed after receiving the questioning look from the butler.

"Ohh, I see that you have embraced your likings, Tenten-San. Whoever it is that you may marry, I'm sure your parent will be happy for your happiness, and so will I" Tenten grew red. When did they talk about marriage?

"Wait wait wait wait, it's not like that" she said hurriedly, "I just want to get into the men's volleyball team, I'm not embracing anything, really, I just want to play real, challenging volleyball and show those squirts from school that a girl can be equal or better than them" she explained herself. Julio almost seemed let down, almost.

"Oh, I see. Then I shall help you, nevertheless. I swear in the name of mi madre that I'll make you a fine man!" The old man eyes glinted with determination.

A month and half, lots of studying to pass the entrance exams, and lots of classes on how to behave or speak later, there she was. The Konoha high was way bigger than Whirlpool Tech High, making Tenten squirm in front of the gates. That was the first step to her plans, that were to finish high school and go for the nationals of volleyball, then becoming a legend as a woman who made it there in a men's team, playing men's games, and being as good as a man.

Her next step would be getting into the team, but she was sure she would make it. She was a top setter, her aim made her settle from any position almost, her agility made her be able to get into very difficult positions with ease, and she could jump. Boy how she could jump, so the net high wouldn't be really a problem, even if she wasn't really that tall.

Grabbing her somewhat big suitcase, she made it through the halls of the school, searching for the principal's office. Soon enough she found it.

"H-hello?" She knocked, making sure her voice was the deep low she trained for the last six weeks, and not the shrieked one she tried to do at first, making her brother laugh his ass off and Julio tell her she sounded like a kindergarten boy.

When nobody answered, she tried to open the door, and for her surprise, it was open. Stepping inside she glanced at the principal's desk, where laid a woman half snoring. With careful steps, Tenten made her way to the sleeping woman, gently tapping the woman's shoulder.

"I told you I'm not drinking!" Shouted the woman as her eyes snapped open, her breath recking of sake. After she groaned from the sudden light hitting her eyeballs, she fixed her gaze to Tenten, who stood, staring at her. "Who are you?"

"Tent-Tenshi Amarai ma'am!" Tenten introduced herself, with a voice that would make Julio not proud.

The blonde woman seemed to consider her for a while, making Tenten wonder if she could see through her disguise. She was wearing a large polo shirt with baggy jeans, her hair was up in a hair bun, a headband keeping it tightly secured, also giving her a more boyish look. She even went for the trouble to use a boxer underwear, in case the pants went a little lower, it would be troublesome if someone spotted the end of a panty in a man, wouldn't it? She bound her chest, who thankfully and not thankfully wasn't all that big, so it didn't hurt much, and extended the bandages through her abdomen.

"Ah! You're the new guy. I'm Tsunade Senju, the principal. Get good grades and don't do drugs and everything will be just fine. Also, no weapons allowed." the woman said as grabbed a key from her desk, tossing it to Tenten, "there's your room, one solo as you asked, and your schedule is in your room too. Now get going, dismissed." Tenten did as a told and marched away. Something about that woman told her to not get on her bad side.

She made it to the dorm hall, following the signs that were thankfully around. There were some people already around, who looked at her and murmured something, there were even girls that tried to flirt with her, which she dutifully ignored. Her room was room S10, and she found herself wondering if it had anything to do with her and her brother's name begging to with 'ten'. Dismissing the thought, as it was irrelevant, she made it into her room, staring it in awe. It was a nice room, with a queen bed, a huge desk with bookshelf and a closet. A closet. And a personal bathroom too. Konoha high was really a top school indeed, even though the rules were really bland.

After getting her stuff sorted, she made a call for her brother.

"Hey there handsome, how is it going?" Her brother immediately teased her, laughing at her glare.

"So far so good. A few odd stares here and there, but I'll manage. If anything, people will just think in androgynous."

"Well, the real challenge starts tomorrow, just make sure to not sound like a middle boy going through puberty" his brother grinned at her

"Miss Tenten! Remember, try to flirt here and there, it will make it more believable!" Julio shouted from behind Tenshi.

"I'm not going to do that! I told you I only want to play volleyball!" Tenten was red from embarrassment. She didn't know why Julio was so obsessed with her to woo another girl. Tenshi just laughed.

The first day of his last high school year finally arrived. Volleyball's captain and ace Neji Hyuga made it into his first class in all his glory, his green uniform jacked and black trousers spotless, his red tie perfectly tied, and his white long-sleeved shirt tucked inside his pants like a perfect student. His prideful dark brown hair neatly tied in a loose, low ponytail. Heading towards a faraway seat, he ignored some fan girls of his, who tried to catch his attention.

"Neji! How are you my eternal rival? Are you ready for another youthful year?" Neji looked up to see his friend, and roommate, Rock Lee shouting from one seat, promptly making everyone reconsider their choices of seats. While some left, Neji headed that way.

"Lee, we saw each other not even an hour ago" He commented, remembering how the man woke him up by kicking the door open after his ten-mile run.

"Ahh yes! But you were gone when I came out of the shower, so I didn't have the chance to talk to you!" The boy cried, Neji just ignored.

"Hn" Neji sat, the bell ringing right after.

"Settle down everyone." Asuma Sarutobi, the history teacher, came in as soon as the bell rang, everyone obeying right after and getting into their seats. "We are supposed to have a new student today... is mister Tenshi Amarai here?" He asked, his eyes scanning the room for any new face.

"I'm here!" A person came in running, his hair was in a messy man bun, a headband keeping it together. His tie was a huge mess, and his uniform was messy, probably from running around. "I'm sorry, I got lost..." the boy bowed in apology, Asuma just chuckled.

"It's fine, just make sure it doesn't repeat, go grab a seat and let's get started." The boy nodded and scanned the room for an empty seat, the only one being behind Neji. Soon after finding the seat, his eyes landed on the Hyuga, making Neji's hair on the back of his neck lift. Neji ignored it and kept on staring the boy, who averted his gaze quickly, making his way to the empty seat.

The rest of the class passed by, and when it was finally over, Neji heard the boy behind him clear his throat. Glancing over, he raised an eyebrow at him.

"Um... Do you know where the chemistry class is?" The boy, Tenshi as Neji remembered, asked.

"Hn, Lee can show you" Neji said signaling to the man in green and left.

Tenten just stared the mans back, blinking. "Way to be social" she muttered, turning her attention to the other boy, who apparently was smiling widely at her. His hair was in a bowl format, his eyebrows incredibly brushy and his eyes were perfectly round. Tenten blinked. "Can you help me?" She asked him, hopping he was less antisocial.

"But of course! I'm Rock lee, the green beast of Konoha, and I shall assist you!" He introduced himself, giving her a thumbs up, his smile almost blinding her. Tenten just nodded, not knowing what to say.

They both made their way to her next class, mostly Lee doing the talk and Tenten nodding. He talked mostly about the gym teacher, and of a girl named Sakura.

"Do you know about the volleyball team?" She asked, trying to gather information about her objective. The round eyes of the boy shinned at her question.

"Yes! I am a member of the team! And if you remember Neji, the guy who you talked before, he is my eternal rival and the team captain!" He smiled again at her.

"The antisocial guy is the team captain?" She asked incredulous.

"And my eternal rival!" Lee pointed, as if it was the important information, "Please forgive Neji, he may not be very, eh, approachable lets say, but he is a nice guy when you manage to know him! Ah, here we are, now I must go to my class. Hopefully we'll see each other again soon!" He dashed out of her sight in an instant, leaving her in front of a classroom. His energetic nature and dubious hair style fashion aside, he was a nice guy, she pondered, feeling that she would be good friends with the guy.

Chemistry class went smoothly, a few looks here and there, but Tenten ignored them with ease. Her next class before lunch would be math, her best class.

"You are new right?" A girl approached her, smiling coyly. Tenten gulped.

"Uh, yes, I'm Tenshi Amarai"

"Nice to meet you Tenshi-kun! I'm Yuki Hanata. If you want I can help you with showing you around" She flashed her lashes at Tenten, making her feel uneasy. It was her chance to find her class though, and walking around with a girl surely would be good for her macho masquerade.

"Sure… Do you know where math class is?" She gulped as the girls smile widened.

"Oh! What a coincidence, its my next class!" The girl exclaimed as she claimed Tentens arm and started to drag her out of the classroom. Tenten didn't know whether be proud or sorry that her androgenous look was being successful among the female population.

After some agonizing five minutes, they made it into the class, and Tenten hurriedly went the farthest away from Yuki. The girl was creeping her out. In her hurry she didn't notice that she sat behind the long haired man, who was staring at her, his pupilless, pale lavender eyes staring into her soul.

"Girls are troublesome" She commented, tried to indicate the woman who was staring at her dreamily. The boy said nothing, just went back into minding his own business. Tenten sighed relieved, sinking into her seat. She could manage one crazy girl, it was juts maintain an eye out for her and keep her distance and all would be alright, right?

Math class finished and Tenten dashed out, not wanting to be prey of Yuki again. Making it into the cafeteria, she spotted Lee, which wasn't that hard really, and made her way to him.

"Hey Lee!" She greeted the boy, who looked in pure joy when he saw her.

"Tenshi, my youthful friend!" He patted the seat next to him, indicating for her to sit with him, which she did.

"How were classes?" Tenten asked while she ate a sandwich.

"Very – oh, Sakura-san! Over here!" Tenten put her hands on her ears as Lee shouted. She noted that three girls and four guys came to them.

"Who's the new guy?" Asked a chubby guy while he ate some chips. Tenten felt everyone's gaze on her, and cleared her throat, making sure her voice would be good.

"I'm Tenshi Amarai, a new senior" She introduced, and everyone nodded. The first one to speak was a blond woman with blue eyes.

"Nice to meet you Tenshi-kun, I'm Ino Yamanaka" She winked at her, and Tenten shivered, "The one eating is Chouji, the lazy pineapple head is Shikamaru, the pink haired is Sakura, the shy one is Hinata, the one with shades is Shino and the last one is Kiba" The girl introduced everyone, who waived a hand or bowed and sat down. Tenten nodded.

"Where are you from man? Never seen you around" Kiba asked, grinning widely.

"I'm from Whirlpool"

"Whirlpool? I-isn't it on t-the other s-side of the c-country?" Hinata stuttered, and Tenten blinked. Looking at the girl closely, the shy girl reminded her of someone, but she couldn't put her finger on it. At her intense stare, Hinata reddened.

"Quit staring" Said a deep, baritone voice from behind her, and Tenten suppressed a yelp sound. Looking at the source of the voice, she remembered who the shy girl reminded her. The antisocial guy, who was glaring daggers at her.

"You again" Tenten said, rolling her eyes at him, his glare intensifying on her.

"Hn" Neji sat down besides the shy girl, who was still red. Tenten felt bad for making her like that.

"I apologize, didn't mean to stare, I was just taken aback because of your eyes" At this, Nejis eyes twitched, Hinata grew even redder, and Kiba started to laugh alongside Ino.

"M-my eyes?" Hinata asked, her face redder than a tomato.

"Yes, they are very unique and beautiful" Sakura and Lee were making some gestures towards her, signaling her to stop talking, while Kiba and Ino laugh just increased.

"This will be troublesome" Shikamaru muttered, while Shino nodded silently.

"B-beautiful?" Hinata was already grasping for air, and Tenten eyes went wide in realization. She wasn't a girl in there, she was a boy supposedly, so compliment a girls eyes as beautiful would be like trying to flirt with them. She wanted to smack herself for her obliviousness.

"What are you trying to do with Hinata-sama?" Neji demanded, getting into his feet and dangerously clenching his fist. Tenten gulped.

"Wait wait wait, you understood it wrong, it was just a compliment, I'm not trying to flirt with her or anything, she is pretty, but it is not like I'm interested or anything, it was just a harmless compliment" In case anyone wondered, Tenten was just making her situation worst. Sakura now was holding Hinata from falling from her seat, while Lee was now in front of Tenten trying to shield her from the infamous Hyuga glare, whose owner was getting dangerously close to her.

"Hinata-chan! Why are you so red and why is Sakura-chan holding you? Are you ok?" Suddenly, a blond boy appeared by the shy girl's side, putting his hand on her forehead. That was the fatal blow, as the girl fainted, and hell broke loose.

She thanked the blonde boy mentally, whose name she discovered that was Naruto, for taking her place in the beating. When he appeared and Hinata fainted, Neji used him as punching bag, while the girls took care of Hinata, and the boys tried to restrain Neji. She was surprised that no staff tried to control the fight, but Lee explained, while they walked for her next class, that it would be only a problem if someone was gravely injured, used drugs, or brought weapons, and that also this kind of situations weren't rare, as Neji was a little overprotective of his cousin.

"A little overprotective my ass, that man would murder for his cousin" She commented, and Lee gave her a sheepishly smile.

"Well, can't say you are wrong… But he is only that way because he really cares about her!" Lee tried to protect Neji's image, Tenten just shrugged.

"By the way, when are the try outs for the volleyball team?" She asked, changing the topic. Lee smiled widely at her.

"This weekend! Are you going to try for a libero?" He asked excitedly. She winced, of course he would think she would try for a libero, she was tall for a woman, but short for a guy. While Lee and Neji were past 6ft, she was barely a 5,6ft.

"Actually, I'm more of a setter" She scratched the back of her head awkwardly. Lee went into thought for a moment.

"Well, our starter setter graduated last year, so the spot is free! You could be already in the starter team! I'll be rooting for you!" Lee gave her his iconic blinding smile and thumbs up, and she warmed up to him, he didn't comment on her height!

She was lucky that for Philosophy and Science Lee was with her, but for her unfortunate fate, Neji was also in her science class. No surprises when he kept glaring daggers at her, which she just ignored. The last class was gym, and it would be the last class every day of the week, with all the seniors in the same class. Why so many gym days she didn't knew, but didn't care, as she loved working out anyway.

The real problem was the locker room, filled with dudes, shirtless dudes, and some only on their boxes. Making a run for a stall, avoiding eye contact with anyone, she sighed in relief inside her safe cubicle, starting to change into knee length green shorts with matching short sleeved green shirts, wondering why so much green. Checking her chest and abdomen binding, she exited the stall, only to be met by a shirtless Hyuga. An angry shirtless Hyuga.

"Stay away from my cousin" If his eyes could kill, she was sure she would be dead by now. To make matters worse, it was either glare back at him, or look at his well formed, godlike abdomen and chest muscles. The later wasn't really an option as she really didn't want to have a nosebleed in there.

"As I have said before, you got it wrong dude! It was just a sincere compliment, and also, she's not my type!" She tried to calm down the Hyuga, maintaining her voice in a low deep tone that would make Julio proud.

"It better just be that. Hurt her and you are dead" Neji turned around and stomped out of the locker while putting his shirt, the boys in there rushing out of his way. Tenten rolled her eyes, he could have put his shirt before, but guessed that men thought they looked scarier and tougher without a shirt on. Sighing, she exited the locker room, rushing by Lee's side before Yuki could get a chance near her. She discovered by the day that Lee enthusiastic nature was a repellent to fan girls, which she was very, very glad.

"Hello my young pupils! Are you ready to show me your youth!?" A man in a green jumpsuit, who was a bigger version of Lee, greeted them shouting as he made his entrance in the gym. Tenten stared, shocked. There were two green beasts.

After gym, Tenten just dragged herself into her room, deciding that it would be safer to just change there, after a warm and relaxing shower. And so she did, after a long and hot shower, she laid on her bed, exhausted. Homework awaited, but she needed her five minutes of laying down and relaxing. It has been an eventful day, but it was a successful day. No one suspected her, and even though she didn't like the attention that she got from some girls, a.k.a Yuki, and the death glares from the Hyuga, she guessed that it would help her out. She smiled to herself, it wasn't that hard to be a man, and Saturday she would try for her objective, which she had a good opportunity, since they didn't have a starting setter yet.

With refreshed determination, Tenten went for her homework.

Neji was glad that Lee wasn't in their room. He was still pissed with the new guy. That Tenshi made him feel odd, his grey eyes disturbed him. After the attempt that he made to flirt with his cousin, even though he denies it, made him even furious. Neji was going to keep a close eye on that guy.
