Perseus gains a new friend
Ascension of the Fallen: Chapter 20
Ogygia
Perseus grimaced slightly, tearing the wraps from his skin. Although Chronos essentially forcing his power into him accelerated the healing of the more major injuries like his broken ribs and what not, some part of the primordial's power didn't blend well with Perseus' and had caused numerous rashes and burns to appear on his skin.
"You shouldn't just be tearing your wraps off like that," she stated with an accusatory look in her eyes.
"Are you so sure? I know you'd love to see this," he gestured to his torso.
Calypso couldn't respond, reduced to a golden blushing, stuttering mess as he tore his wraps from his torso, revealing his masculine body in all of its glory and stood to his height of six foot four, towering over the titaness.
"Not to spite you and your work though, but I really must get back to training. It's been several weeks since I've landed on this island, and I need to be in tip top shape if I am to defeat all those primordial pests… excluding Nyx of course," he added.
They had grown close over the past couple of weeks, with the two opening up to each other.
Calypso had initially avoided Perseus, the titaness believing that she could never get off the cursed island of Ogygia.
However, as with Perseus' charm, one could never stay away from him for long.
He told her of his life, of his triumphs and few defeats and his reign as king, and of his fall from grace. She told him of gardening and weaving, of her lonely life, trapped on the island.
He told her of the friends and allies he made in Tartarus, his unwavering loyalty to his friends. He spoke of his conflicting emotions about his four nieces and nephews despite the facts which proved their innocence, courtesy of the hearth goddess.
For an immortal, she was an exceptionally good listener.
Until he told her of his love life.
"Let me get this straight," she stated incredulously, her palms hitting the sand as the two sat next to each other on the beach, "Aphrodite visited you, and she told you that you need several mates to reach fulfillment?"
Perseus could only nod mutely as she only raised an eyebrow at him.
The tension in the air was so thick that it could be cut with a knife. Perseus stared at Calypso as she put on her thinking face.
She shrugged nonchalantly, turned her back on him, and started walking towards the garden, sashaying her hips from side to side as the god was left gaping, partially in disbelief and partially at the display the titaness put on.
He quickly caught up to her, "You aren't surprised?"
She hummed, turning to look him in the eyes for a brief second.
"Nope," she said, popping the 'p', "out of all the immortals, you're the most compassionate, kind, and noble."
Perseus raised his eyebrows, not expecting a compliment from the beautiful titaness as she looked up at him, biting her lip slightly and she took several strides to close the gap between them.
"And if I must share you with others, I will."
Before the dense god could react, the titaness smashed her lips onto his.
He could feel his brain melting as he felt the soft, sensual pair of lips on his. Her sweet, caramel scent enticed him further as she put all her passion into the kiss.
Who knew that the soft-spoken titaness could be so bold?
Quick to reciprocate, the god aggressively pushed her against a wall, kissing her sensually at first, then dominating her with intensity. The shorter Calypso mewled in ecstasy, whimpering as she parted her lips for his tongue.
She inhaled his dizzying, sandalwood scent, butterflies dancing in her stomach as his lean, powerful arms wrapped around her.
They once again engaged in a battle of dominance, one that he easily won as he began exploring every inch of her mouth.
His tongue sent pleasurable tingles along her nerves, causing her to melt even further as he took control.
For a virgin god, he was an amazing kisser.
They finally broke apart as Calypso had a dazed look of bliss on her face, as if she couldn't believe that that just happened, and Perseus wore a similar, goofy smile on his face.
"I think it's time we get off this island."
Calypso nodded in disappointment, before noticing the 'we' in his words. She jerked up in surprise as the god grinned at her with the enthusiasm of a child going to the candy store.
"No need to wait around for the raft that the three old bitches inevitably send to me."
He raised his left hand to the sky, wisps of darkness and strands of time flowing from his fingertips as they shot towards the invisible barrier with blinding speed.
With each hit, the barrier cracked and waned as Perseus grunted under the extreme exertion of power, visible sweat coming off his forehead.
When he deemed the barrier weak enough, the god summoned his staff, aiming it at the crack and firing a beam of gold.
The beam tore straight through the weakened barrier like butter, as Perseus let out a shockwave of energy to collapse the rest of the barrier.
Calypso watched all of this in utter disbelief; she couldn't believe her eyes. After millennia of being wrongfully imprisoned on Ogygia, she was finally getting freed!
Suddenly, the island rumbled, shaking as if Gaea herself had arisen.
Perseus kept his balance, catching Calypso when she stumbled.
The god turned to see an utter behemoth of a sea dragon rise out of the water.
Intelligent, golden eyes narrowed suspiciously at him, as his sleek black scales glimmered in the sunlight. Its eye the size of a house, it was larger than several mortal skyscrapers, with wings that could cover several hundred acres of land.
The majestic sea dragon looked like the legendary dragon Draco, but on steroids.
It roared ferociously at the two, breaking the sound barrier and blasting the two backwards with its shout, trying to dissuade them from leaving.
With its snout, it could tell one of them was Calypso… yet it did not recognize the other one.
Calypso gaped in disbelief as Perseus only looked upon it like it was a housecat, utterly bored out of his mind.
Just to have some fun, he dimmed his aura to that of a demigod, not allowing the monster to sense his massive aura.
The monster, thinking that the previous aura it had sensed was fake, quickly swooped towards Perseus, deadly black flames bursting from its mouth.
The god grinned, waiting until the last second.
With the monster's snout just a few meters away, the god summoned a massive war hammer with lightning quickness.
The sturdy handle made of birchwood with intricate gold carvings on the side and the actual head made of his favorite dark metal tharium, the war hammer was so heavy that even Heracles probably couldn't lift it, not that Perseus would let him near his hammer anyway.
Even Atlas had to use two hands to lift the thing, let alone swing it.
Perseus spun his hammer with one hand and a shit-eating grin on his face, getting ready.
The dragon widened its eyes in disbelief as Perseus swung his hammer upwards with such force that the dragon skyrocketed into the sky so fast that one would have thought the dragon was a meteor.
The fearsome dragon whined in pain, mentally crying for its mommy as it curled itself into a ball, flying into the sky.
Chains of darkness flew from Perseus' wrists, flying into the sky and wrapping around the dragon.
The god pulled, and the dragon was brought down to Gaea.
As the dragon came down, Perseus forced ground to rise from the ocean, providing a massive landing area for the monster.
The dragon slammed into the ground in front of him with tremendous impact, as if a comet had crashed into the island.
Perseus led Calypso by the wrist, assuring the shocked titaness that it was safe. He took time to examine the more intricate details of the dragon.
Three small, golden dashes were marked on each side of the dragon's snout and the same near its eyes.
Despite being defeated, the dragon stared defiantly at Perseus, holding a noble air of confidence that marked it as a king.
Perseus lay his hand on its snout, flaring his powerful aura and causing the dragon to finally submit.
He approached the dragon, causing it to narrow its eyes in suspicion.
"All hail the new King of the phusias," synchronous voices chanted in his head, "Long live the King!"
"I am Perseus. You know who I am," he said, broadcasting his message to the voices as well as to the majestic dragon in front of him.
The dragon seemed to widen its eyes, and it bowed its head in recognition.
"Our master is Lord P-perseus? I thought he perished…" thousands of phusias voiced their opinions, their emotions ranging from shock to denial to joy.
"Indeed, it is. I have returned from the Pit to reclaim my rightful place upon the throne of Olympus."
He moved to pat the dragon's snout rather affectionately, as if they were best friends.
"What is your name?"
The dragon bowed its head again, "Xol… my lord."
Perseus could see that Xol could be rather useful in the future. Despite the dragon receiving an ass beating from him just minutes ago, Xol's power level matched that of an Olympian; he had no doubt that Xol could take out one of the second-generation Olympians, or any just shy of the big three.
Sensing his thoughts, the dragon took the initiative, "I would be honored to serve you, master."
Perseus smiled brightly, "Thank you, Xol. I truly appreciate it."
With that, he turned to Calypso, who seemed permanently in a state of disbelief, and helped her get on the dragon.
Xol snorted through his nostrils at the gaping titaness, quietly chuckling as Perseus gave the dragon a little scheming smirk.
The god quickly whipped out a camera, taking a picture of Calypso's gob smacked face.
"Hey! Delete that!"
"Nope," Perseus grinned cheekily at the titaness who was trying her best to reach the camera that he held above his head.
The two rode off into the sunset, just as a massive bolt of lightning cleaved the island in two.
The Northern Atlantic
Poseidon narrowed his eyes at the churning water in the Northern Atlantic.
He slammed his trident into the ground, summoning his son.
Triton interrupted him before he could speak, "Father, mother has turned against you and is siding with Oceanus."
Poseidon's hair seemed to turn a few shades grayer, and he sighed in disappointment.
"As I thought. Son, I trust you to deal with her. Call Rhode and the tritones to deal with the army. I must deal with that pesky titan."
The prince of the seas nodded, flashing away.
Almost immediately, a trident was sent towards Poseidon, who narrowly dodged it.
Poseidon was pushed back by a wave of titanic energy, and Oceanus revealed himself.
"The seas are mine to command, nephew."
"Not anymore," Poseidon shot back, surging forward to clash tridents.
Back and forth they went, with neither gaining an advantage. Although Oceanus was naturally more powerful than Poseidon due to his titanic status, Poseidon had spent millennia ruling the seas, and Oceanus was subsequently out of practice. However, Poseidon just couldn't gain an advantage on Oceanus due to the titan's expert use of the trident. Despite being a massive merman, Oceanus was lithe and agile, slithering away from the numerous waves of attacks that Poseidon sent his way. However, Oceanus couldn't penetrate Poseidon's defense, meaning he had to resort to titanic shouts to inflict any kind of damage, yet his energy drained from this despite the sea constantly rushing to boost his energy.
On the surface, one could see the effects of the two immortals' battle, as storms
Poseidon grew increasingly frustrated with the somehow calm titan, and Poseidon let loose a massive beam of energy that would have cleaved Oceanus' head off had he not moved away.
The beam missed, and Oceanus let loose a beam of his own, blasting the sea god into the sea floor.
Poseidon hurriedly put up an aquatic shield, his chest plate now completely useless.
Oceanus hunched over like an old mortal man, utterly spent.
Poseidon hurled his green trident, trying to pin the man to the wall, but the slippery Oceanus ducked, attacking Poseidon with an adamantine knife, causing the sea god to widen his eyes in surprise.
He would have to be extra careful; one nick of adamantine hurt more than his father's scythe.
Oceanus feinted left, then jabbed middle, but Poseidon batted it away with his shield, staying light footed.
The lord of the seas launched himself upwards, sending blasts of water downwards.
When the dust from the sea floor cleared, Oceanus was nowhere to be found.
"Right behind you."
Poseidon turned around, trying to dodge to the left, but the adamantine dagger still cut through the armor like butter, lodging itself in his gut.
The sea god roared in pain, louder than a humpback whale, so loud that all sea animals temporarily got a migraine.
He rocketed towards the surface, pursued quickly by the titan.
"Oh, come on dear, join my grandfather and I and we can all rule the seas together!"
"Not a chance, mother. Never in my wildest dreams would I join a traitor like you."
Amphitrite chose not to answer, drawing her personal trident and attacking with blinding speed.
Triton held his trident up to block, but she twisted her trident vertically, slipping it through the prongs and hitting his chest.
Luckily for him, his chest plate evenly distributed the impact, only pushing Triton backwards slightly.
Triton grinned at his dumbstruck mother, "Tyson made this for me just a week ago. I haven't had the chance to try it out."
Amphitrite narrowed her eyes, as Triton attacked the queen of the seas.
Despite Amphitrite having the experience, it was clear to both of them that Triton would win this matchup. Although they were equally matched in terms of water affinity, Triton had the endurance advantage, as he had been training for millennia. With a longer trident and better armor, as well as the edge in physical strength, Triton attacked his mother with precise, powerful strikes.
Amphitrite turtled behind her shield, not being agile enough to dodge his attacks. Every few hits or so, she would peek over the shield and fire a beam, yet it never connected.
Suddenly, Triton kicked up a massive amount of sea dust, confusing Amphitrite as she stood up.
He came from her right, tackling her as he resorted to his fists to beat her into oblivion.
The bloodied queen of the seas managed to blast him off her, her wounds healing agonizingly slowly.
Despite the power of the seas, they'd been going at it for hours, and there was only so much the sea could do to heal.
Triton fired a powerful hydro beam, and Amphitrite, being far too tired to dodge, fired a beam of her own, but Triton easily overpowered her, blasting her into oblivion.
Her lifeless body flew more than a few nautical miles through the water, as Triton gave chase.
The minor god was chasing after her when something slammed into his side.
Triton flew backwards, grabbing the tides to stop himself as he looked up.
Aigaios and Keto stood in front of him, both grinning as Triton groaned.
This was not a fight he was looking forward to.
Aigaios and Keto fired a combined beam that barely skimmed Triton, yet it caused a gash in his side, burning straight through the armor.
The son of Poseidon grimaced, setting up a dome of water that the two almost immediately tore down.
The two water deities attacked the minor sea god simultaneously, alternating attacks so that he had no time to rest.
One second Keto was whirling at him with knives, engaging him in a deadly dance, and the next, he was being pummeled by Aigaios' staff as Keto fired water missiles from a safe distance.
Triton, far too tired, tried to flash to the surface, but only managed to make it half of the way. He sped out of the water, clinging onto a near cliff as he pulled himself onto land.
Ichor dripped out of his wounds, pooling on the ground as he struggled to stand and instead settled for leaning on a tree.
Poseidon sprang out of the water, landing on the ground to notice his son bloodied and bruised.
The night was dark and quiet, with no signs of animals in the forest in front of him.
He gave him a worried once over before receiving a blast in the back that painfully ruptured his spine, leaving him sprawled on the floor himself.
Ichor dripping out of his painful wounds, Poseidon staggered to his feet only to pierced in the chest by Oceanus'
He crawled backwards from the menacing Oceanus, as Aigaios and Keto landed on the cliffside as well.
"Your pitiful reign ends here nephew. The ocean will come to prosper under its rightful ruler!" Oceanus declared arrogantly.
Poseidon narrowed his eyes, and in a last ditch attempt, tried to flash his son and himself out, but found a metaphysical barrier.
Oceanus laughed maniacally, "No flashing away, my dear nephew."
He pierced Poseidon's chest again, causing the king of the seas to cough up ichor.
"K-kronos will never defeat Perseus, n-never!" Poseidon struggled to get out, coughing up ichor as Oceanus pushed his boot into his chest.
Oceanus chuckled without humor, "He will meet the same fate as all of you."
Oceanus raised his trident, and Poseidon closed his eyes, preparing to go to Tartarus to reform.
"Not a chance, Oceanus."
The titan whirled around to find Aigaios, and Keto sprawled on the floor, unconscious.
Perseus stood in front of him, exuding an aura that made Oceanus want to cower.
The titan steeled himself, after all, it was just a puny godling. What could even the eldest Olympian do to him?
Perseus flung his hand, unleashing a pulse of godly energy that blasted Oceanus through the forest, carving a straight path.
Oceanus lay on the ground, a deep hole in his armor.
He coughed, getting up slowly, but he couldn't.
In front of him was a sight so frightening that Oceanus released
Perseus grabbed Oceanus' neck with his right hand, lifting him into the air and crushing his windpipe as the titan struggled in the god's grasp, desperately kicking and prying at his wrist for air.
Despite Oceanus' titanic strength, Perseus was undoubtedly stronger in every physical aspect.
"Pathetic."
Perseus slammed Oceanus into the ground repeatedly, taking the wind out of Oceanus' chest.
Oceanus took his barrier down and tried to flash away, but found that there was another metaphysical barrier, one that he hadn't set up.
The god of darkness chuckled deeply without humor, "No flashing away, boy."
Chains of darkness from the ground restrained Oceanus as Perseus summoned the staff of Aesea and his symbol of power.
Channeling all his power and Chronos' gifted power into his sword and allowing power to flow from the staff, the sword glowed with unspeakable power.
He produced Oceanus' adamantine dagger that he had somehow stripped from him and used his time powers to reverse the metal into the time when it was liquid.
He layered the liquid over the sword, the adamantium hardening almost instantly.
Oceanus watched in horror as the sword pulsed with so much power that it could fade an immortal.
The former king of the gods stalked towards him, like a wolf stalking towards a trapped rabbit.
Perseus' glowing eyes Oceanus whimpered in fright at the sight. as strands of time and knives of darkness floated around the
Perseus turned towards the rapidly struggling Oceanus, grinning bloodthirstily, "For your crimes against the sea, you shall be sent to the realm of the Faded. On another note, did you know that an alloy of tharium and adamantium, channeled with enough power, can fade an immortal?"
"No! Please! Perseus, we can talk about this!" Oceanus pleaded, looking for any way to escape his bonds.
"Hmmm…." Perseus stroked his imaginary beard as if he was actually considering it, making Oceanus' eyes gain a hopeful look, "nope."
With that, the king of phusias plunged his sword into Oceanus' chest, causing Oceanus to scream so loudly that even Hades could hear the scream of anguish upon his infernal throne, and the underworld god gripped his throne tightly.
Oceanus' head rolled back as he turned to gold dust.
Perseus watched, morbidly fascinated as the dust was absorbed by the sword.
His sword seemed to gain a stronger glow.
Perhaps it absorbed essences.
He should probably name it.
"Meh, I'll name it later."
He walked to Poseidon and Triton, putting his hands on their shoulders to send them into the sea.
Sensing an immortal presence behind him, he whirled around only to lock eyes with a shocked moon goddess.
