Episode 6: Operation "Get in—Get out"!
"You can forget it, Hades!" Akria then took her medallion and raised it above her head. "Let's go! Celestial Evolution!" She soon transformed into Angel Crimson and got into a fighting stance.
Hades raised an eyebrow and stood up with a smirk. "Do you really believe that a pretty costume change would threaten me? I'm not a model in a fashion show, you know~." He said.
Crimson growled and charged at Hades. She set her fists on fire and threw a punch at the deity. Hades only sighed and collided his hand with hers. Crimson was shocked - he was stronger than she thought.
"Boring." Hades sent the angel flying back, causing her to scream and land on her side. Crimson wasn't giving up though. She got back up on her feet and charged at Hades again. She sent a barrage of kicks and punches at him, but nothing seemed to have any effect.
"Why do you even bother, anyway?" Hades asked as he dodged lazily. "It's not like this will mean anything in the future."
"There's nothing wrong with trying!" Crimson said as she kept kicking and punching. "Even if it doesn't have a direct outcome in the future, it can't hurt to try!" As Crimson was starting to slow down, when she threw another punch, Hades moved to the right side and grabbed her wrist. Crimson flinched in pain and set her fist in fire again, but was shocked to see it do nothing against Hades. He kicked her across the torso, making her scream and fly back again, landing on the ground in pain.
"...This isn't even fun." He sighed boredly and stood up. "Why fight for a land that's not even yours in the first place?"
Crimson held her stomach as she stood back up. "This world...it's full of people. Sure, some are jerks and mean, but there are kind and innocent people too. You can't just take their lives away and eat them like they mean nothing. Other living beings care about those people and their souls, and want those souls to move on to a new life when they leave the world of the living. Then they become a new person. With new experiences. It's not right for ANYONE to take that away from them!" Crimson stated, determined and still ready for a fight. "I won't let you continue harvesting souls like this!" That's when she realized what Hades had said. "Wait...What do you mean by...a land that's not even yours?" She asked, confused.
He tsked with a grin. "What do you mean? You're obviously not too bright..." He took a few steps towards her. "You see, I know you're not from this world."
Crimson was shocked to hear that from Hades, but then she glared at Hades. "You brought my friends and I here, didn't you?!" She asked angrily.
"Me?" Hades paused, looking hurt before he chuckled. "No, no. Unfortunately, you got in the way of my plans. But, Aki, I didn't bring you here. Why would I?"
Crimson got back up and glared, "Why should I believe you? You've always got something up your sleeve." She stated.
Hades feigned a hurt expression. "Because I am a member of the GoodWill committee. To even insinuate such an accusation is heinous."
Crimson was annoyed with these games. "Don't think your jokes are going to keep me from slamming my fist into your face!" Crimson got all fired up and began to use her special attack. "Angelic Crimson Inferno!" She sent her attack straight for Hades.
However, Hades took the energy and smirked. "Interesting." He created a ball of fire of his own, making Crimson gasp in shock.
How?! Crimson became scared. Only now realizing Hades was completely out of her league. She couldn't do anything to harm him. Despite that fact and her body shivering in fear, she tried to keep a strong face on. The ball got wider and wider, Hades staring straight at her with a grin.
"Tell me, Angel Crimson...how far are you willing to go?" He asked.
Crimson's eyes widened with fright as the ball got bigger and bigger. She didn't know what to say. She was frozen with fear.
Hades sent the ball of fire straight towards Crimson. She tried to catch and stop the ball but it collided with her and engulfed her flames. Soon, after the flames simmered down, Crimson was still standing, but not for long. She lost consciousness and transformed back in Akria and fell to the ground.
"...Pathetic." He scoffed boredly and yawned. "Nyx! Take her back to the cell. No matter what, keep her alive." He ordered. Nyx entered the room again to see Akria on the ground and Hades walking back to his throne.
"May I make a suggestion, Lord Hades?" Nyx asked. "She has quite a few injuries. Should I not take her to the medic to make sure she doesn't die from such injuries?"
"...Well, such things are to be tended to." He sighed. "Fiiine, I'm not the devil. Take her to the medic."
Nyx bowed and picked up Akria, bridal style, with the greatest of ease and took her away. Meanwhile, Hades felt confused about this girl...
Back in Skyworld, everyone was already forming a plan. "The idea is not to have an all out battle with Hades' army. We need to get in to get Akria, and get out." Palutena explained.
"So that means I can't actually take revenge on Pandora?" Eva asked while her sister groaned.
"And how exactly would you do that?" Ang asked.
"Easy! I'm...good at a game of cards...?...Yeah, we should get in and get out." Eva sighed.
"We need some kind of distraction to lure at LEAST Pandora or Thanatos away. Luck will be on our side if we get them BOTH out." Dark Pit said.
"Do you think the centurions and I would be enough of a distraction?" Pit asked.
Eva looked towards Pit for a moment before smirking a little. "...Yes, yes they would."
Pit got a little nervous at the look she gave him. "...What…?"
Ang sighed. "Eva. They are NOT doing whatever you're planning."
"Why?" Her little sister whined while Ang stood up.
"Pit and the centurions can distract them in a more REASONABLE way. Meanwhile, Leslie, Eva and I can go look for Akria. How does that sound?"
Palutena and Viridi nodded their heads. "Sounds good." Viridi said as they looked back down at the map of the Underworld. "Pittoo will take you girls a safer way into the castle that was made for Hades. Then he'll join up with Pit and the centurions." The Goddess of Nature explained.
"Roger. Is that all?" Ang asked as she looked at Pit.
The gaze in her eyes was something he's never seen prior...it was the look of a warrior.
...And it frightened him to no end.
"...Ye-Yeah. That's all." Pit said.
"Alright. We've got a job to do then." Palutena announced.
"Alright, let's go." Ang took Eva's hand and nearly dragged her out of the temple.
"H-Hey!"
"You're not doing whatever you're planning."
"But I got the costumes and everything!"
Pit and Dark Pit looked at each other, confused, before Pit shrugged his shoulders.
Meanwhile, Akria was regaining consciousness, feeling her head throbbing in pain.
"Hmm...let's see..." a voice sounded in the air.
Who's that?
"Several burns here...and there...It'll take a while to heal. Poor girl..."
Akria then woke up with a start and sat up straight, but instantly regretted it. She felt pain all over her body and she winced.
Gentle hands held her shoulders. "Easy now. I just began treating your wounds. It'll take some time before you're able to move without feeling pain." Akria looked to see a man standing there. A human man. He had long silver hair in a low ponytail and crystal blue eyes. His skin was fair and the clothes he wore made him look like a doctor. Akria blushed a little when she thought this man looked beautiful.
"T-Thank you..." She said, looking down. "How long was I out?"
"Not too long. A few hours." He said as he reached in his first aid kit.
"...Who are you?" Akria asked.
The man smiled gently at Akria, "My name is Agathinus, when I was alive, I was a physician, but now I'm the Underworld Army's medic."
"The Underworld Army's medic?" Akria asked before she said, "Wait...you're not alive?"
Agathinus chuckled before taking Akria's hand, which made her blush more, and placed her hand on where his heart would be. There was no heartbeat.
"...You really are dead!" She gasped rather bluntly, looking at him in shock. "B-But how? How are you speaking to me?"
Agathinus chuckled dryly. "When I died, Lord Hades gave me a chance to continue my work...as his army's head doctor. Usually when he revives one of his commanders, they're not fully able to fight like you might think. They come to me when they have injuries that need treatment." She explained.
"Must be rough." Akria said.
"It's better than I was alive actually." Agathinus admitted.
Akria was confused. "What do you mean?"
Agathinus started treating Akria's wounds as he spoke, "When I was alive and became a physician and taught others about medicine, only a handful would listen. Most of my students were girls, saying they wanted to make a difference. But all they really wanted to gaze at me. People always commented on how I looked. Saying I was a beautiful man. Even a handful of other males couldn't resist taking a look at me when they thought I didn't notice. So...I decided to stop teaching altogether, and I kept my practice to myself until the day I died."
Akria felt sadness in her heart. Yes, this man was rather charming and handsome, but did the reason they wanted to learn from him was because he was beautiful?
"...I'm sorry…" She said.
Agathinus looked at Akria a bit surprised, before smiling at her. "No need. It's not your fault of any kind." He assured her. They both stayed there in silence as Agathinus continued his work. Soon enough, he finished treating Akria.
"…That should do it. How do you feel?" He asked Akria.
"Sore..." Akria sighed. "Man...I really do need to train harder, don't I?"
Agathinus laughed a little. "I guess you must if you wish to defeat Hades." Akria looked at Agathinus, shocked that he knew that. "Don't be too surprised. I hear lots of things around the Underworld Castle, especially from Pandora who can't stop talking and gossiping." He joked and Akria laughed a little.
"I see." She chuckled as the medic started to leave the room.
"Rest up here for a while. I will be back to check on you soon." Agathinus closed the door behind him and unfortunately had to lock it, under Lord Hades' orders. He sighed as he began to walk away when he saw the sights of Underworld monsters scrambling together. He frowned and approached the situation, hiding to see what was going on. "What's happening...?"
Agathinus then saw Pandora and Thanatos coming around the corner and heard them talking.
"I can't believe Palutena would mount an attack for that little girl." Thanatos commented.
"Excuse me?" Agathinus came forward towards Thanatos and Pandora. "But, what is happening?"
Pandora explained, "Seems Palutena and Pit are coming to attack the Underworld Castle. Most likely to get their little angel back."
"What? The Goddess of Light is attacking?" Agathinus asked, confused and a bit shocked.
"I'm as confused as you are. They know they don't stand a chance, so why bother?" Thanatos shrugged. As he and Pandora walked away, Agathinus decided to get a closer look at the situation.
The centurions and Pit readied themselves for battle as they neared the Underworld Castle.
"Alright, Pit. Pittoo and the girls are in position. You know what to do." Palutena said. "Be careful."
"Right, I'm on it." Pit replied. The angel raised his bow about before giving the command. "Charge, soldiers!" The centurions and Pit then charged into battle as Underworld forces countered them. As they fought through the forces, Dark Pit and the girls took the chance to head through the underground entrance of the castle.
Eva held her nose. "Ugh...smells like sewer water."
"It could be worse. Much worse." Dark Pit commented.
Leslie stepped up the stairs of the sewer, finding a hatch above. "This way. It doesn't seem like anyone is around."
Dark Pit and Leslie opened the hatch and luckily, the room was empty.
"...Alright. Coast is clear." Dark Pit said. Leslie climbed out first, then Ang, and then Eva. "You girls be careful and Akria, fast. I'm off to help Pit."
"Roger." They saluted and headed down the halls of the prison cells as Dark Pit headed back the way they came.
"If only we could alert her we're here..." Eva wondered aloud.
"We'll just have to do what we can." Leslie stated. The girls began to look all around in the cells but still found nothing.
"Come on, Akria...where are you?" Ang asked out loud without being too loud.
"Who are you looking for?" The trio of girls looked and saw Agathinus walking down the halls towards them. Leslie stood in front of Ang and Eva to protect them as she took out her medallion.
"I see...You're the blue angel that Pandora isn't quite fond of." Agathinus chuckled. "Relax. I'm a doctor, not a fighter."
Leslie still was weary. "How do we know that for sure?" She narrowed her eyes. "Though you don't look like a threat..."
Agathinus chuckled again. "I would've surely attacked by now instead of revealing myself so easily. Unlike Pandora and Thanatos, I don't like to make grand entrances and all that. I prefer to get to the point."
"I see..." Leslie replied, cautiously.
Eva didn't have a problem trusting him, though. She smiled. "I'm glad someone here is cordial! And might I say, don't you look dashing today!"
Agathinus looked to the side, seeming a little disgusted by what Eva said, before quickly giving the young girl a smile. "Thank you...very much." He said. "Now who are you looking for, might I ask?"
"We're looking for our friend Akria." Ang said worriedly. "She was taken by Pandora."
Agathinus paused. "...I see."
"Yeah, and we need to get her out so we can find the orichalcum we need to make the Galaxy Wands." Eva blurted out.
Agathinus gave the girls a confused and curious, "Galaxy Wands?" He repeated.
"We heard that's the thing that can defeat Hades." Eva stated. "Or something...they're supposed to be very powerful."
Agathinus' eyes widened at that.
"Eva! What the hell?!" Leslie snapped at her. "This guy's with the Underworld Army!"
"What? He didn't seem like he'd hurt us!" Eva retaliated. "Besides - I don't think he's of any harm."
"STILL."
Agathinus then spoke up. "Please wait here, I'll be back with your friend." He bowed a little before walking off back the way he came, confusing the girls.
Later on, Akria, who was still in the infirmary, was feeling much better and could move around more without feeling so sore or hurt. She wondered if Agathinus was going to come back when the door unlocked and the same man she was thinking of came in with a box and Akria's medallion in hand.
"Agathinus. What's going on?" Akria asked.
"Palutena's Army is attacking the castle to save you." Agathinus simply answered.
"What?!" She gasped in shock as Agathinus handed her the medallion.
"Your friends are outside. Please, leave this place when you have the chance." Akria was so confused on what Agathinus was doing.
"Wh-What? I don't understand, why are you...?" Agathinus handed Akria the box he was carrying.
"This should be enough orichalcum for you all to make the Galaxy Wands." He stated.
"Orichalcum?! How did you...?"
"There's no time! Here!" Agathinus then grabbed a nearby spray bottle and handed it to Akria.
"What's this?" Akria asked, examining the bottle.
"It's pepper spray, you have NO idea how many times I've been attacked down here because Underworld troops thought I was a human invader." Agathinus scoffed. "Spray that in my face, and it'll make it look like you were escaping me."
"But..."
"Do it now, Akria!" Agathinus shouted at her, causing Akria to use the pepper spray right in Agathinus' eyes. The Underworld doctor screamed in pain and held his face.
"Oh gods! Are you OK?!" Akria asked, still panicking.
"Never mind me, go now!" Agathinus urged her, while still groaning in pain from the spray in his eyes. She felt horribly bad, but she couldn't do anything else but run out of the room, running right into the girls.
"Akria!" Eva gasped in relief. "You're…"
She took her hand and nearly dragged her down the hall. "We need to leave, there's no time!"
"Right!" Leslie and Ang agreed as they ran after Akria and Eva.
Leslie contacted Viridi telepathically, "Viridi! Akria is with us! Can you pull us out as soon as we exit the castle?"
"Roger! Hang on tight, I'm pulling you out as soon as you get out!" Viridi replied.
"Who's that?" Akria asked confusedly.
"Viridi, Goddess of Nature." Eva replied with a smile.
"Oh thank Gods—she's on our side!" Akria said with relief as they exited the castle the way they came in.
"Ah!" The next thing the girls knew, they were being lifted in the air by an invisible force, and carried through the air.
"Ah! Viridi wasn't kidding when she said she would pull us out!"Ang held onto Eva as they flew. The girls landed on top of each other when they were back in Palutena's temple. Akria rubbed her head as she looked up to see Viridi next to her and her friends.
"Palutena! The girls are here!" Viridi called out to the other Goddess.
"Akria!"
Palutena ran to see her, kneeling down and helping her and the others up on their feet. "I'm glad to see you're well. Are you alright?" She asked.
"I'm fine, Palutena..." Akria stood up but winced in pain, as she did. Not feeling fully recovered yet.
"Akria!" Her friends became worried.
"I'm good...just a bit roughed up." Akria said.
"Are you sure?" Ang looked at her worriedly, feeling a sense of guilt in her stomach.
"Don't worry, Ang, I'm fine." Akria assured.
Just then, Palutena pulled back Pit, Dark Pit, and her centurions from the battle in the Underworld. Ang still was weary, but she didn't say another word against it. Once Pit and the others came back, Leslie approached them. "How'd everything go?"
"Well, we defeated Thanatos. So that went well." Pit told her.
"And if you had left me there for FIVE MORE SECONDS, I would've killed Pandora for good." Dark Pit before grumbling.
"But at least you're here in one piece." Viridi commented. "Look on the bright side."
"...Yeah, yeah..." Dark Pit grumbled in agreement.
Pit chuckled a little before turning to Akria and noticing the box in her hands. "Akria. What's in the box?"
Akria looked down and forgot that she was carrying this for a second before opening it to reveal the precious metal inside. "It's...orichalcum." She answered.
"Orichalcum?!" The girls gasped as they rushed over to it.
"But how?" Eva gasped in wonder. "Dynthos said it was extinct, right...?"
"Palutena said only Gods and Goddesses possess such material." Ang corrected her before looking at Palutena.
"That's correct. Akria, where did you get this much of it?" Palutena asked her.
"I got it from the Underworld medic..." Akria began. "His name was Agathinus...and he helped me get out. He asked me to pepper spray him to make it look like I was escaping him..."
"No way..." Leslie didn't know what to say to that.
"Well, either way, now we can go back to Lord Dyntos, and he, Clay, and Jasper can make the Galaxy Wands!" Eva said.
"Yeah..." Ang said while trailing off, not noticing Pit's worried expression.
Everyone left to go celebrate Akria's accomplishment while Ang stayed behind. Pit stepped forward.
"Are you alright...?"
"...I'm worried." Ang admitted. "About Akria. She really did look hurt..."
Pit sighed and looked off. "Me too. She must've fought Nyx or something and got beaten badly."
"..." Ang bit her lip, asking a question on her mind. "...Pit, what would you do if I had to fight?"
Pit looked at Ang, a bit startled by her question. He stuttered, unsure of what to say. "Well, I don't...I'm not sure why...But..."
"Um...Palutena, I have something to say." Akria said, gaining Pit and Ang's attention before they hurried up to the group.
"Yes? What is it, Akria?" Palutena asked.
"Well...it's about the girls and I..." Akria started out before saying, "We're not from THIS world, you see..."
