A/N:
Hey lovely readers, I wasn't expecting to add onto this story. But a funny thing happened and inspiration found me. So I decided to add on with another one-shot that involves little Nessie and a silly thing that happened to her at school.
Here it is. I hope you enjoy it. :))

Edward's POV
With sand in my shoes and the sweet sound of my little girl running behind me giggling, I collapsed under a tree, on the soft green grass. For a quick minute I looked up at the cloudy sky wishing for sleep before I shut my eyes.
Sleep would be nice. Sleep would be wonderful. It would be welcoming after a long day of chaperoning a kindergarten class field trip to a giant pumpkin patch, and lets just say I'm making sure Bella goes on the next field trip. Because it felt like an eternity even though it was really four hours. And that doesn't even count the ride on the bus with the odd smells that I couldn't quite identify but was probably pee, juice and old candy. That along with the wild boy Mikey - the son of my one time rival Mike Newton - who is definitely a wild child and the reason for the kindergarten teacher popping Tylenol like Tic Tacs. I would have very much enjoyed sleeping, even for a little while.
I let out a deep sigh, breathing in the aroma of the park that we were at. It wasn't that I disliked being in charge of a group of six small children who listened about as good as a flock of chickens and kept wanting to run from me as they randomly thought of colorful peacocks, for some unknown reason. But it was more the fear that I would lose my own daughter or one of the other children that was placed in my care in the corn maze. Or that one would get injured in the bounce house.
Luckily none of them got hurt and I didn't lose track of anyone from my group. Though, the whole ordeal made me have a new level of appreciation for teachers that deal with a large group of small children on a daily basis. It also made me feel as exhausted as the old man I should be. Well, at least I felt very tired mentally even though physically I felt as energetic as the seventeen-year-old that I will forever be.
"Daddy," Nessie said, standing next to me. "What are you doing?"
"Being still. I'm just resting, Sweetie." Was the best answer I could give my little princess. She may be very intelligent and read chapter books and use words that are wise beyond her years but at the end of the day she's still five-years-old. Sometimes the simplest answer is the best way to go.
"That's no fun." She complained. "Please play with me. Pretty please?"
I opened my eyes and looked at her. Her hands were on her hips, her deep chocolate brown eyes bore into me, her bottom lip stuck out in a pouty way. Her thoughts were unhappy at the moment. I saw images from her mind of the last time we came to the park and I pushed her on the swing, one of her favorite things.
"Go play while I lay here and rest for a while." I said, hoping she would listen.
Nessie stood there with her feet firmly planted in the grass. Her mind was on the swing set as she shook her head no.
"Please let Daddy rest for a few minutes." I spoke softly, wondering why my little girl is so stubborn. "After I'm done resting I promise to push you on the swing."
'Really?' Nessie's eyes lit up. "You say you promise but do you pinky promise?" She held her little fist with her pinky pointing up to the sky.
"Of course." I held out my hand and extended my pinky.
No words were exchanged between us, only smiles as her pinky wrapped around mine, sealing my promise to her.
"There." She said, removing her pinky and looking at me. "Now your promise is final." She grinned her crooked smile. 'You can't break a pinky promise.'
"Princess, I always keep my promises." I had no intention of breaking my promise to my little one.
"Okay. Bye bye." Nessie ran off at a human pace in the direction of the slide.
From where I laid I had a good view of my baby girl as she ran around with another little girl that was her height but I assumed was older than my daughter. They played for the longest time, laughing and chasing one another up, down and around the slide. The cutest part of their interaction was when the little girl's mother announced that it was time to leave. That's when Nessie gave her playmate a big hug.
With no other children around to play with, Nessie hopped like a frog over to me.
"Daddy," She said. "Are you still being still?" She avoided the word 'rest' since she's aware that I don't sleep.
"Yes." I replied.
"Good." She plopped down on the grass beside me. "I want to be still with you too."
"Alright," I pulled her to me. "We can look up at the clouds together."
'Yay! I like that game. I'm sweating like a warthog and I need to cool down.'
I laughed at her inner monologue. Despite being able to read minds, I doubt I'll ever be able to understand why my child compares herself to animals. Though it is entertaining.
There in the small empty park, Nessie and I laid in the grass finding shapes in the clouds. She was enjoying it and so was I. Our game of seeing objects in the white fluffy clouds came to an end only when she turned on her belly, propping herself up on her elbows and looking at me. Her mind was on a big peacock with a very colorful tail and I was beginning to think this was her new favorite animal. I was also expecting her to remind me of my promise about pushing her on the swing. But that wasn't the case.
"A boy in my class thinks he said a bad word." She said her mind was on Mikey and peacocks now. "But he really didn't. He just thinks so."
"Oh really?" I looked at her. She had my attention. I was curious about what "bad word" Kindergarteners might be saying. "What word is that?"
"He said," She lowered her voice to barely a whisper and spelled out the word. "C-o-c-k."
Deadpan, I stared at her. Never in my wildest dreams did I think the bad word my daughter would hear at school, at this age, would be a derogatory way to describe a male body part.
Horrified that my baby girl even knew how to spell such a word, I was speechless. The only coherent thoughts that I had was that of course Mike Newton's son would be the one to utter that word at school.
Through the filter of my daughter's mind I saw the terrified expression on my face.
"Don't worry, Daddy." She rubbed her hand over the side of my face. "It's not really a bad word. It's just a short way to say peacock."
"Peacock?" I smiled. I was now making the contention to the images of peacocks that she had been thinking about for a good portion of the day.
She nodded her head. "Yes. Just like when Aunt Alice says jelly but it's really a short way to say jealousy."
With her innocent words my shock wore off. I began to laugh though she had no idea why. The innocent mind of a child is a beautiful thing and unfortunately won't last forever. Neither will her thrill of wanting to play around at the park with me. One day all too soon she'll grow up and everything will change. But for now she's still my little girl.
I stood up and Nessie did the same. She copied my every move as I ran my hand through my hair.
"Ready to go on the swings?" I didn't wait for her answer, I grabbed her, lifting her into my arms. Automatically she wrapped her arms and legs around me while I began walking over to the swing sets.
"Yes!" She shouted with a giggle and kissed my cheek. "Push me very high like I'm flying please?"
"You bet." I said as my feet hit the sand.

Since I was recently asked who Mikey's mother is here is the answer:
Mikey is the son of Jessica Stanley and Mike Newton. Even though they have a kid together they are not in a relationship and weren't at the time he was conceived. He was the result of a good time house party where both Mike and Jessica were high and drunk and one thing led to another and Jess became pregnant. After they found out they tried to have a relationship...again. But it didn't work out so they just co-parent their wild child.
Thanks for reading. :))
Please leave a pleasant review.
I will be adding onto this story whenever I get inspired.
