Summary: Always a woman of science and magic, Donna can't accept that science is better than magic.
The Lotus Ninjas, Saldana, and Angel looked at the map of the Hidden City as they planned to explore together for the first time.
"Let's try Battle Nexus." Ella suggested.
"Ooh, there's a shopping mall!" Lee gushed.
"We can go to that festival." Ellie proposed.
"How about Witch Town?" Donna asked.
"Alright, girls, how about we each do our own thing? Just to make our whole day in the Hidden City much easier." Saldana said.
"Okay." Ella, Lee, Ellie, Donna, and Angel said.
Donna and Angel arrived in front of the closed gates, where they looked up at the unknown sign that translated Witch Town in a different language.
"Hey, Donna, have you ever been to Witch Town before?" Angel asked in confusion.
"Not really." Donna replied. "Maybe one of my ancestors did in their time years ago."
"Is it witches similar to mystics, you know, in magic terms?" Angel asked.
"Not exactly. While witches could learn to access magic using their own rituals, only mystics are born with pure magic." Donna explained. She let out a proud smile. "But of course, just because a mystic like me only mastered magic doesn't mean I'm not the master of science."
"And that's when our science project went sky-high and earned us a big A thanks to your science magic." Angel smiled.
"Thank. You." Donna grinned proudly.
As the gates opened themselves in front of Donna and Angel, they looked around to observe their surroundings in awe. They saw a Yokai witch performing fireworks, a female Yokai witch working on their potions, and a few cat Yokai wizards and witches are flying off on their magical brooms.
"What a joy! More new strangers!" A female voice spoke up.
Donna and Angel turned around to see nearby purple swirls behind them just as a female yokai witch landed on the ground. She has pink skin, luscious blonde hair, and wore a purple dress with a dark purple cape and a purple witch hat.
"I'm Mira, the mayor of Witch Town." The yokai witch greeted with a kind smile. "Welcome!"
Mira's eyes widened wide in puzzlement when she looked at Donna.
"Hello." Donna greeted back with a friendly wave.
"I see we have another fellow Dragoness." Mira said with a happy expression.
"So, a Dragoness has been here before?" Angel asked.
"Of course." Mira replied. "Carina was once an excellent teacher in Witch Town. Her great knowledge of potions, charms, and fortunetelling has reached us all in her lifetime." She gestured her wand to the giant statue of a female witch next to her. "She even met and shared her gifts to our dear founder, Abigail the Good."
Mira waved her wand and changed Angel's outfit into a hunter-green leather jacket over a black knee-length dress, black leather wristers, a hunter-green witch hat on her head, and black boots with knee-high torn stockings.
"Oh wow, you witches sure know style!" Angel said with a smile as she examined her witch attire. "Me like."
"Now, go and enjoy some merrily mystic fun!" Mira said with a kind smile. "For today, we celebrated our 600-year-old Peace Offering Festival!"
With that, Mira magically vanished out of thin air.
"So, where do we start first?" Donna asked Angel.
A glimmering cauldron caught Donna and Angel's attention. They turned their heads to see a skinny, teenage yōkai witch practicing her spells in the middle of the square. She has violet skin, short wavy dark turquoise hair with bangs, black eyes, long pointed ears with little golden earrings, purple eyebrows, pink-purple lips, freckles on her cheeks, and a little sharp tooth hanging from her upper left jaw. She wore a short purple jacket over a short turquoise top, a red skirt, a witch purple hat, a black choker on her neck, long blue socks above the knees, and purple ankle-high boots.
"Through soul to sky, I summon the beast of the Underworld!" The witch yokai chanted.
The witch yokai summoned blue sparks into the ground, magically crawling out mystic worms all around her.
"Whoa! That was so cool!" Angel and April exclaimed in awe.
"Oh yes, very cool says Donnie as he quietly lets something go." Donnie replied with a disinterested face.
Angel and April then turned their heads to one another's presence, making them run close to each other with huge smiles.
"Angel?/April? Hey, girl! What are you doing here?" April and Angel exclaimed.
"Sup, April." Donna greeted casually.
"Donna? Hold on, are you witch too after this time with the Purple Dragons?" April asked in surprise.
"I'm a mystic, actually." Donna replied.
"A mystic?" April repeated in confusion.
"It's a long story. We'll tell you later." Angel said.
"Hey, D." Donna said to Donnie with a smile.
"Sup, D." Donnie smiled back.
"Darn! Missed another one." The witch yokai muttered as she knelt on her knees in defeat.
"I can't believe you just did that!" April smiled as she and her friends joined the witch yokai. "So cray!"
"Thanks." The yokai witch said.
"What's your name, witch girl?" Angel asked.
"The name's Gentry." The yokai witch replied as she placed her hand behind her head with a sheepish smile. "I've gotta collect the anis worms for tonight's Peace Offering Potion. They're so hard to catch, and I'm like totally behind..."
"We hear ya." April said. "I've got a project on chairs that I'm way behind on too. I was hoping to find spells to get me some...razzle-dazzle?"
"I don't have much time, but in honor of Peace Offering Day, I'd be happy to help you out." Gentry said with a smile. "Will something like...this work? Let the sedimentary sparkle!"
Gentry held a mini cauldron in her hand and spun her finger around the rim of it, throwing a wisp of magic at Angel. Angel smiled as she was surrounded by fireworks.
"Wow!" April exclaimed.
"Ooh, fireworks." Donnie growled with gritted teeth. "Science never would've thought of something it was the original inventor of."
"What was that?" Another yokai witch spoke suddenly as she slid herself right in front of April. "Did I hear thou doust need dazzly enhancements? Per chance this!"
The yokai witch started twitching randomly in a green mist, making five teenagers recoil back in alarm. The yokai witch's magic surrounded Angel, lifting her up freely in the air.
"Sweet! Y'all are amazing!" April commented.
"Yeah, that was wicked." Angel smiled.
Hearing April and Angel's compliments made Donnie increasingly irritated. Donna pointed her magic at Angel and levitated her down to the ground.
"Oh! How lovely! We're helping our guests dazzle up some chairs!" Mira spoke as she suddenly landed in front of the gathering witches. "I love it, splendid! Come one, come all! Let's show our guests what we witches can do!"
All the witches started twitching randomly, summoning their magic to lift every chair into the air.
"You girls rock!" Angel grinned.
"There's so many to choose from!" April exclaimed in excitement.
"How do you like our magic, Dragoness?" Mira asked Donna.
"It's alright. No offense." Donna said as she placed her hands on her hips.
"None taken. Maybe you can show our magic." Mira suggested. "Show us the magic of a powerful Dragoness."
"Oh, okay." Donna said. She let out a cocky smile. "Prepare to be amazed!"
Donna moved her index fingers in a circle as she danced around away from her friends and the yokai witches. She placed her glowing index fingers together and pointed her purple magic to the ground, summoning a dragon-shaped rose that appeared from the ground and shot seeds illuminating with purple light at the sky. The seeds then exploded themselves in fireworks that spelled "Magic Rules".
Mira and the other yokai witches stared at the sky with jaw-dropped expressions. Then, they applauded wildly with huge awestruck smiles.
"Marvelous! Absolutely marvelous!" Mira cheered.
"O.M.G! Donna, that was incredible!" April cried as she and Angel moved up in front of Donna.
"Yeah, I know." Donna said with a proud smile.
Donnie couldn't hold his growing irritation anymore.
"Oh, that's it!" Donna shouted suddenly.
April, Angel, and Donna looked at Donnie in shock.
"No more! I am unclenching my teeth!" Donnie said angrily as he stepped up to Mira and the yokai witches before crossing his arms over his cheat. "Your mystic magic is not amazing! It is simple and soft! There, I said it!"
"You slight us on Peace Offering Day?" Mira asked angrily.
"Of course, he didn't." April said she waved her hands nervously. She then glanced up at Donnie with a glare. "He promised he wouldn't."
"April, I'm sorry. I can stay quiet no longer." Donnie said. "You should have selected me to help you on your projects! Science is king, and I shall prove it through a scientific commendation of biology and physics that I call GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG!"
With that, Donnie's battle shell pulled out various boomboxes and music stereos.
"Wait, what?" April asked in confusion.
"What is he doing?" Angel said with a confused eyebrow.
Donna narrowed her eyes in grimacing anger.
"Let me show you the things that science can do." Donnie sang in rap form. "It's good for me, and it's good for..."
Donnie's bo staff shot out lasers, which one of them accidentally destroyed the Abigail statue.
The yokai witches screamed in horror.
"Our sacred statue!" One of the yokai witches shouted.
April and Angel panicked while Donna crossed her arms over her chest and shook her head.
"Ooh." Donnie said as he winced sheepishly at his accidental move. "Uhh...you know what will fix that? Science?"
"Out!" Mira shouted as she pointed her finger at Donnie and April. "Away, be gone! You are banished from Witch Town! Gentry! Remove these outsiders."
"Don't bother." Donna spoke. "I can fix the statue."
Donna extended her glowing hands out, levitating the shards of the statue off the ground and fixing it instantly back into the platform. When she snapped her fingers, she teleported herself and her friends out of the room and in front of the gates.
"Way to be open-minded, D!" April yelled at Donnie. "Now, I'll never get help for my project."
"You know, you could always ask Donna for help if you want." Angel pointed out.
"Your project?! I'm the one who's behind!" Gentry spoke as she was teleported behind April, Donna, Angel, and Donnie. She then looked up at the clock. "If I don't catch enough worms in the next hour, the town can't make the Peace Offering Potion. And that is so not good."
"Behind, you say?" Donnie grinned as he slid on the floor. He appeared on his feet next to Gentry. "So not good, you say. Lightbulb!" He pointed his finger at himself. "I have a solution!"
April held her baseball bat, but Angel placed her hand on April's shoulder and shook her head that halted her from hitting Donnie before pointing her thumb at Donna. Donna snapped her fingers and sprouted long thick vines that restrained Donnie in his place.
"Haven't you done enough? And did you just say lightbulb?" April said with a frown.
"Hey, Gentry, here's what we're gonna do." Donna said. "Donnie can help you get your worms, you can offer April some mystic bling for her project, and Angel and I will make a replacement for your potion. Just in case something goes wrong."
"Really? Thanks, Donna." April smiled as she wrapped her arm around Donna.
Donnie wrestled his face out out of the vines.
"But why?" Donnie asked in confusion.
"Because, as a Dragoness mystic, I'm a woman of science and magic." Donna replied angrily with narrowing eyes.
Donnie frowned sadly and looked away as he knew exactly what Donna meant.
Gentry thought hard about Donna's suggestion, but she nodded at the girls in consideration.
While Donnie started drilling into the ground for the worms with a jackhammer and Gentry was helping April finding magical chairs for her science project, Donna and Angel opened up the blueprint for the potion. The blueprint featured all of the ingredients: mushrooms, roses, and apple cores. Below the cauldron has the words "aged worms only".
"I got the worms and you handle the rest of the ingredients." Donna said to Angel.
"Roger that." Angel said with a salute.
As Angel sprinted away with the blueprint, Donna knelt on her knees and laid her hands on the ground. She stretched purple magical energy across the ground, levitating several worms out and into the air. Donna stood up and magically encased the worms in a purple sphere.
Angel returned with a bag of mushrooms, roses, and apple cores.
"Found the ingredients, Donna." Angel said.
"Good. Now, let me work my magic." Donna said.
Angel took out a small cauldron that Gentry duplicated earlier. As Donna's hand glowed, she levitated the worms, mushrooms, roses, and apple cores straight into the cauldron, which successfully created a replacement potion for Gentry.
"Yes, we did it!" Angel said. She then took notice that Donna was frowning sadly at the cauldron. "Hey, Donna, are you okay?"
"It's just...what Donnie said to the witches was stupid and petty." Donna said in a hurtful voice. "He never had any problems with me using my magic when we first met, but now he's doing whatever it takes to prove a point that science is better than magic."
Angel looked at her friend with a frown, knowing that Donnie's aggressive irritation over science vs magic has been hurting Donna's feelings because she is a mystic with powerful magic.
"Come on, let's get going." Angel said, placing a comforting hand on Donna's shoulder. "We can't leave Gentry hanging."
Meanwhile, Mira gathered to all the witches at the center of Witch Town.
"Gather, gather, gather," Mira announced. "Once again, the splendid little festival comes to a close, with a traditional Peace Offering Potion."
Some of the residents began placing their own ingredients in the large cauldron. Even Gentry nervously unloaded the worms inside.
"The year has gone by." Mira continued. She spun her wand around to stir the potion. "And oh so sweet. The Peace Offering Potion is now complete!"
The yokai witches cheered. Donnie, April, Angel, and Donna watched the potion making event from way in the back of the crowd.
"Well, will you look at that?" Donnie said with a smug chuckle. "Banished, and I still saved the day."
"Wait, is that why you did this?" April asked.
"No!" Donnie exclaimed quickly. "It's because I was sorry for being so close-minded about how wrong I were..."
"Oh, please, Donnie. We all know that's a lie." Donna said angrily as she looked away and crossed her arms over her chest.
"As Peace Offering Day ends, our old friendships are renewed!" Mira concluded.
Suddenly, a loud thumping sound caught everyone's attention. They turned their heads to see a large orange yokai creature with two horns stomping past the flora flowers.
Donna, Angel, April, and Donna looked up at the massive yokai monster with wide-eyed expressions.
"Oh, the Great Morgon, accept our offering and leave us in peace for another year!" Mira said.
Mira and the crowd of the yokai witches bowed down to Morgon, who grabbed the cauldron in his hand and drank the potion.
Donnie laughed and pushed past the crowd as he pointed his finger at Morgon.
"Your potion was brought to you by science!" Donnie declared. "How do you like them worms?!"
"Why do I get the feeling something bad is gonna happen?" Angel asked April and Donna.
Moron stopped drinking with a disgusted look on his face and spew the potion out of his mouth. The effect of the potion turned his skin into orange when he grew irritated and roared dangerously.
"Call it." Angel said.
"Something's amiss! His orange hue points to worms improperly aged!" Mira said in shock.
All the yokai witches turned their heads at an anxious-looking Donnie with glares.
"Oh, he looks fine to me." Donnie said. nervously.
Morgon then destroyed the Abigail statue with a monstrous roar.
"So, you guys got this? I'm sort of late for a thing..." Donnie said anxiously.
"Seize him!" One yokai witch shouted as the other yokai witches pulled out pitchforks in their hands. "Seize the scientist!"
April and Angel grabbed Donnie by the arms as they started running off away from the yokai witches, who rapidly blasted their magic at them. Donna stood her position with her arms crossed over her chest, but she rolled her eyes with a sigh and magically teleported away.
Donna magically reappeared behind Angel, who was hiding in an alley with April and Donnie. Donnie nervously grasped his bo staff while April, Angel, and Donna looked back to see Morgon breathing carnage fire all over witch town.
"We need to help them!" Angel said in worry.
"Yes, we cannot let that thing destroy their town!" Donnie agreed determinedly.
"Now, you're talking!" April smiled.
"Because when I defeat it with my tech, they will have to admit science is better!" Donnie declared as he ran off to fight Morgon.
"Donnie!" April shouted.
Donna crossed her arms and shook her head with disappointment while Angel placed one hand on her hip with an annoyed expression.
Donnie flew up to the monster with his jet-packed shell and smacked his bo staff with a propelled rocket across Morgon's cheek and head. But Morgon caught Donnie's bo staff in his hand, preventing him to strike again for the third time. Morgon then squished the propelled rocket and ripped it off of Donnie's bo staff as he punched Donnie in the face that sent him knocking into April.
Donna's hand glowed intensely and she sprang high towards Morgon. Angel took out her mystic katana, but she took notice to see the mystical aura surrounding April's bat. April then looked up and stared at her mystic bat.
"Whoa." April said in awe.
"So wicked." Angel breathed in awe.
Donna summoned large purple energy balls around her. She directed them towards the yokai monster with remarkable speed, making them explode upon contact. Before she could strike again, Morgon opened his mouth and fired a red ball of energy at Donna, sending her to crash into the ground across her friends.
"Donna!" Donnie cried out.
As Donnie and Angel ran over to check on her, Morgon fired another red ball of energy at them from his mouth.
"Look out!" April shouted.
April quickly stepped in front of her friends and smacked it with her mystic bat, sending the energy ball to hit Morgon in the face. The yokai monster stumbled back, allowing the yokai witches to fly and attack him with their magic. Morgon roared and ran after the witches.
"Dang! Witches got game." April smiled as she looked at her bat.
"Girl, you got game with that bat!" Angel commented.
"You got that right." Donna agreed.
"Lucky mystic swipes." Donnie muttered.
Donnie's words were immediately the last straw for April, Angel, and Donna.
"Oh, admit it already." April said. "Sometimes, mystic powers aren't all that bad."
"I will not!" Donnie refused with a glare.
"Okay, that's it!" Donna shouted in frustration as she stood up over Donnie. "I have enough of you and your petty attitude! You never had any problems with me using magic when we first met or even when we started dating!"
"You two have been dating?!" Angel and April exclaimed in utter surprise.
"So, why are you so obsessed with proving April wrong on this?!" Donna demanded as she ignored her friends.
"Because I'm the science guy!" Donnie responded as he slammed down his staff. He let out a defeated sigh. "If mystic powers can do anything I can do, but better, why would you or April even need me?"
April exchanged softened looks with Angel. But they turned their attention to Donna, who crouched down in front of Donnie.
"Donnie." Donna said. She wrapped her arms around Donnie's neck and hugged him. "My magic isn't better than science nor my science isn't better than magic. I'm a mystic of both magic and science. Just because you believe mystic is better than science doesn't mean we don't need you."
"She's right." April agreed. "You aren't important to us because of your tech! You're important to us because of you."
"Yeah, if anything, magic and science are stronger together! Just like the four of us!" Angel concurred.
Donnie's eyes widened softly. He smiled and grabbed Donna's cheeks as he pulled her into a kiss. Donna's eyes widened a little bit and returned the kiss.
"Seriously, you two are a thing?! When did that happen?!" April and Angel exclaimed in jaw-dropping surprise.
Suddenly, Morgon's loud screech made April, Angel, Donna, and Donnie look up at him in alarm.
"In that spirit, might I suggest a science-mystic team up?" Donnie asked the girls.
"Now you're talking!" April smiled.
"Heck yeah!" Angel beamed.
"Let's do it." Donna grinned.
As Donnie and Donna stood up, the quartet took action with bold smiles. Donnie spun his bo staff into his hands as Donna waved her hands and activated her magic. April and Angel sprinted forward while Donnie flew forward and Donna sprang herself into the air.
"April..." April shouted.
April grabbed onto Donnie's bo staff, making them spin around rapidly into a circle before Donnie threw her forward at the yokai monster.
"O'Neil!" April cried. She then whacked Morgon against the cheek. "And bash!"
Angel spun her katana sword engulfed in black energy and swung five waves of black energy at Morgon. Donna spun herself around rapidly and projected purple energy balls at the yokai monster from her hands.
"Fibonacci!" Donnie cried as he soared around Morgon.
Donnie, Donna, Angel, and April kept attacking Morgon, making him spin around with dizzy eyes from their strikes. Donnie grabbed Donna's hand and flew her into the air, twirling themselves around in a circle. They dove down together while grasping onto the bo staff and whacking it on the yokai monster's head. April and Angel jumped up in the air, landing on the houses from different sides. They lunged forward and swung their mystic weapons at Morgon in an X-motioned strike.
Donnie landed behind the Morgon with Donna sitting on his shell. Angel and April landed next on either side of Donnie as they all stroke on amazing poses with pure eyes.
Morgon collapsed onto the ground in defeat.
April turned around to the stunning yokai witches.
"Thanks for the accidental power up, Gentry. You the witch!" April smiled at Gentry as she twirled around her mystic bat.
Donnie and Angel landed on both sides of April as Donna landed next to Donnie.
Then, Donnie turned his attention to the yokai witches.
"Witches of Witch Town." Donnie spoke. "Hear me. I was wrong to not be more open-minded. It's just that mystic powers are the one thing I have not been able to solve." He paid no attention to April, Angel, and Donna staring up at him in shock before smiling at him. "As a man of science, it is maddening to finally come upon something you do not understand. Especially when your dumb dumb brothers totally do and then wave their dumb dumb weapons in their dumb dumb hands all the dumb dumb time!" He paused and took a deep breath. "But that is just a long way of saying...I am sorry."
Donna kissed Donnie on the cheek.
"Thanks, Donnie." Donna smiled softly. "And apology accepted."
But despite Donnie's genuine apology, the yokai witches refused to accept it. Especially since his action caused collateral damage around their town.
"Seize him!" Mira shouted furiously, pointing her finger at Donnie.
"Seize the scientist!" The rest of the yokai witches shouted in unison.
April, Angel, Donnie, and Donna stared at the angry yokai witches with anxious expressions.
"Perhaps you do not appreciate how rare a heartfelt moment is for me." Donnie said nervously.
Donna, April, Angel, and Donnie got thrown into a prison cell. Angel landed on top of Donna's back, Donna landed on top of April's back, and April landed on top of Donnie's shell. They all looked up to notice Ella and Raph sitting on their seats with frowns.
"So...how was your day?" Donnie asked with a nervous smile.
