"Why did they have to remember that we exist tonight of all nights?" Shelly grumbled to Kevin, as they waited for Cirque du Cheville to start. "This is going to be so lame!"
Shelly and Kevin were usually left to their own devices whenever their parents went on their stupid outings with the third grade turds, but the adults had insisted that their oldest children needed to be exposed to "culture" just as much as the younger kids. No amount of begging, excuses, or threats of suicide (on Shelly's part) would sway them.
Shelly rolled her eyes as a clown approached her brother. How the hell did everybody manage to gravitate towards him? She would have happily punched the clown in the balls if he had gone anywhere near her, but it was the principle! She was sick of the turd constantly being the center of attention. Why didn't the clown choose the green hat turd or the fat turd?
Shelly watched the clown hand an umbrella to her reluctant brother. An unamused Stan was showered with water as the clown honked his bicycle horn. The audience roared with laughter.
Despite herself, Shelly snickered along with the crowd. It was a treat to see people laughing at her brother's expense instead of kissing his ass the way they normally did.
Maybe this won't be so bad after all, Shelly mused to herself.
