Shelly felt like she was floating.
That was the worst nightmare I've ever had, she mused to herself. It was also the most vivid. The flames lapping at her skin, the acrid smoke filling her lungs, the splinters piercing her fists as she desperately pounded on the barn door, and the overpowering stench of marijuana seemed so real.
Shelly had never had a nightmare end without waking up, but this time her dream had managed to transport her somewhere else. She was surrounded by nothing but white, almost blinding light. There was a certain tranquility in the air that felt completely foreign to her. She had never felt so peaceful.
I hope that I don't wake up anytime soon, she thought. She wasn't ready to face the daily grind of school and her stupid family. She wanted to savor the quiet and comfort that she so rarely got when she was awake for a very long time.
A shadowy figure materialized in front of Shelly. She glowered at the apparition. Who the hell was stupid enough to disturb her peace? Couldn't she even get a break while she was dreaming? She balled her fists, preparing to knock the intruder's block off.
"Hi, Shelly."
Her eyes widened in realization.
"Larry?"
I have faith that the next special will change the past and Shelly and Sharon will survive, but until then...
