A/N~ So this fic has been sitting unfinished for about a year now and I just recently had the motivation to finish it, a good thing too since I really like this concept. I hope you do too!
Enjoy~
It was the first time she used one of her star dresses. After sacrificing Aquarius, the celestial spirit transferred some of her magic into Lucy, giving her the power to use the Aquarius star dress. Lucy could feel Aquarius's powers run through her veins as her clothes began to shift and form into an entirely new outfit. She wiped the tears from her eyes and stood up with newfound strength. Her eyes glared at the man standing in front of her.
Jackal. He had just attacked her, but a strange force field protected her from harm. It had to have been Aquarius. She just knew it. Jackal was in awe at how she could stand so seemingly easily while Lucy's expression twisted in fury. For some reason, she was so incredibly angry.
It was a familiar anger too. Not her usual type of anger, but it was like she knew where it was coming from. Then, it dawned on her. Aquarius! This was Aquarius's anger!
She could feel Aquarius's fury all over her body, so much it made her shake. She knew what that anger was directed at. Jackal.
It wasn't so hard to defeat him after that wave of emotion.
After Natsu had left for a year's worth of training and with the guild disbanding, she was able to do a little training herself. And she noticed something about her recent powers, the star dresses. She seemed to adopt the personality of her spirits when she wears one of their dresses. So say, she uses Capricorn's star dress, she becomes refined and lady-like. It was an odd thing to experience, but it wasn't unwelcomed.
She felt closer to her spirits than she ever had before. Although, some personalities were better than others. It was kind of a hassle knowing that whenever she transformed into Taurus's and Leo's star dress, that she was going to become either a total flirt or an obnoxious pervert. She didn't like to think about all the previous awkward moments when in those outfits. But either way, her new powers made her happy, knowing she carried a part of her spirits in her.
She didn't use her outfits too often, unless for training, but after Natsu returned and the guild reformed, she was forced to bring them out much more often. Especially during the Alvarez incident. Though thankfully, most the time she used them, she wasn't around anyone else.
The first time Team Natsu even witnessed a complete change in her personality, was when she had to transform into Aries to escape from a large group of bandits chasing them.
"Man we shouldn't even be retreating! We can take em!" Natsu yelled out as they turned around a corner.
"Not yet Natsu!" Erza growled, slapping the back of his head. "Our client told us that we cannot destroy anything while in town, so we have to retreat for now!" She explained.
"Well, we need to retreat faster or we'll be forced to fight! They're gaining up on us!" Gray said, twisting his head to look back at the bandits, who were steadily getting closer. Lucy pursed her lips, an idea coming to mind.
"I have an idea!" Lucy grinned, stopping abruptly. She quickly took out her Aries key.
"Lucy, what are you doing!?" Wendy shouted in worry, stopping a few feet behind her.
"Don't worry you guys, I got this. Open, gate of the White Ram! Aries!" She yelled out as a golden light surrounded her key. She then gave her enemies a cheeky smile, knowing she had a trick up her sleeves. "Star Dress: Aries Form!" As Aries appeared next to her, she felt her magic course throughout herself.
"Woah, I've never seen her Aries form!" Natsu awed, excited to see what Lucy was planning.
"Y-You ready, Aries?" Lucy asked meekly. "It's okay if you're not though, sorry..." Lucy whispered, biting her lip.
"I'm sorry, but it's okay miss Lucy. Let's do our best!" Aries smiled weakly. Lucy gave a little nod and directed her attention to the bandits.
"She just changed outfits." One of them whispered.
"Is that the famous Titania everyone talks about?"
"No, I don't think so. I heard Titania had scarlet hair."
Lucy and Aries politely waited for them to stop whispering, eyeing each other nervously.
"Why is she just standing there?" Gray asked curiously, crossing his arms.
"I'm not sure, but something seems off about her. Does her body language seem different to you?" Erza hummed, squinting her eyes to study the blonde.
"I think you're just imagining it." Happy concluded.
"Wool Bomb!" Lucy and Aries squeaked out, interrupting the conversation. Closing their eyes, a huge pink cloud of wool separated Team Natsu and the bandits. "Thank you Aries, I'm sorry for dragging you into this." Lucy apologized meekly, tears in the corner of her eyes. Aries grabbed her hands and nodded at her, before disappearing.
"Good work Lucy, now let's go!" Erza shouted.
"C-Coming!" As Lucy ran to catch up with the rest of her team, the bandits were heard sighing wistfully as they collapsed against the wool. Finally, Team Natsu made it to the outskirts of town, evading the ones who were chasing them. Gray put his hands on his knees and panted.
"Man, retreating sucks." He wheezed.
"We need to come up with a plan in order to drag them out of town so we can use our magic without limitations," Erza argued. "Okay, Lucy you need to come up with a plan. You're the only one I know who pull off something like this." Erza ordered, turning towards Lucy sharply and unknowingly glaring at her. Lucy, still in her Aries Form, squealed out and hid behind Natsu. Who happened to be right beside her. Erza blinked blankly at her reaction.
Everyone stared at Lucy as tears ran down her face. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" She murmured, digging her face into Natsu's shoulder.
"Uh, I'm sorry Lucy. I-I didn't mean to scare you..." Erza stuttered, raising her arm up to try and comfort Lucy. But Lucy only flinched away.
"Lucy-san, are you okay?" Wendy asked her softly as Charle huffed in her arms.
"I'm okay, sorry..." Lucy whispered, grabbing the back of Natsu's vest and clenching the fabric in her hands.
"Why do you keep apologizing?" Natsu harumphed, twisting his head to catch a glimpse of her face in the corner of his eye.
"I, I'm not sure. Sorry!"
"Is it me, or is she acting strangely like Aries?" Gray chimed in.
"Yes, you're right Gray," Erza hummed, putting a hand on her hip in thought. "I noticed, when she transformed into that dress, that her posture shrunk in much like Aries. Almost as if she was mirroring Aries...odd." Erza exclaimed. Lucy listened quietly and peered down at the ground. She waited for things to quiet down before piping up. She loosened her grip on Natsu's vest and peeked over his shoulder to look at Erza.
"Uhm, I can explain it to you. Whenever I change into one of my spirit's star dresses, I show some of their personality traits and sometimes its hard to control, sorry..." The blonde explained quietly. Although it wasn't difficult for Natsu and Wendy to hear.
"Ah, so that explains it." Gray nodded in understanding.
"Wow, that's so interesting! But I'm afraid to see Aquarius's star dress." Wendy giggled.
"I think it's weird. Lucy's not Lucy when she's all shy and stuff." Natsu huffed, crossing his arms. Lucy lowered her eyes and frowned.
"Sorry..."
"Ugh!" Natsu growled, spinning around and grabbing her wrists. "Stop apologizing already!" He shouted, leaning his face into hers. Lucy stiffened as her eyes widened. Streams of tears rolled down her face as her cheeks and ears became bright red. Natsu's mouth hung open slightly at her reaction, who knew Lucy could be so...cute.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to make you angry!"
"How dare you make her cry Natsu! you'll pay for your insensitivity!"
"Ouch!"
…
"Alright Lucy, are you ready to come at me with everything you got?" Natsu asked, a smirk slapped onto his face. It was a bright summer afternoon, and Natsu and Lucy decided to spar. Lucy knew that in a real fight, she wouldnt stand a chance. But she did have a few tricks up her sleeves. One being Loke.
Specifically, his star dress. It was her most powerful one, after all. With a grin, she transformed, a bright light engulfing her. As the light dissipated, it revealed her in a black dress with Loke's sign tattooed on her right breast. The dress had a gold sash tied around her waist, and tights covered her legs. To top it off, she wore black high heels.
"Who's that?" Natsu asked as his eyes narrowed.
"Loke." She smiled, her eyes roaming over Natsu's body. She licked her lips and gave him a smirk. Natsu noticed the change in attitude, but decided to ignore it. After witnessing Aries's star dress, this wasn't all that surprising. So, he pivoted his foot back, before launching at her with a flaming fist.
She laughed and kicked up her leg, blocking his fist with her heels. He growled and grabbed her ankle.
"It's not gonna be that easy to take me down, Luce."
"It would be a turn off if it were that easy."
"Wait, wha-"
"Regulas Impact!" She yelled, hot white light blasting from her foot and forcing Natsu to let go of her. He jumped back to avoid some of the blast, but her comment caught him completely off guard. As he backed up, his foot slipped and he lost balance, falling on his back. He groaned and stood up, rubbing the back of his head. Cracking his neck, he sighed with a smirk.
"So you wanna play dirty, do you?" He peered into her eyes, noticing the way they lit up in excitement.
"Only with you, Na~tsu." He ignored the way his heart thumped at the way she said his name. He ripped off his vest and held out a hand for her to come at him. She brought her fingers to her lips to hide her mischievous smile. She liked it when he got all serious. She continued to stare without charging towards him. Natsu's eye twitched.
"Come on Lucy! This is a spar, not a staring contest!"
"It would be if you could see what I'm seeing."
"Shu-Shut up and fight me!" He decided he didn't like that star dress. It made her act really weird.
"Well, if you insist."
Finally, they were getting somewhere. She swung her fists and he swung his foot. Block, hit, block, jab. It was a back and forth battle that was evenly matched. Well, it would of been, if not for what Lucy had done.
Instead of punching his gut, like he assumed, she raked her finger across his stomach and trailed upwards to his chest.
"Lucy!"
"Why do you insist on temping me, Natsu? Taking off your vest right in front of me. Did you do that on purpose?"
"What!? Of course not!"
"Lying doesn't suit you, Natsu." She leaned forward, placing her face only centimeters from him. His eyes widened as he fell down once more. Lucy took that opportunity to crouch down with him and cage him on his back, with her arms on either side of his neck.
"Lucy, knock it off." He whispered, afraid that if he yelled, his face would get any closer to her.
"Changing the subject, are we? That's okay, I know you get shy when you're embarrassed."
"I do not!"
"That look on your face says otherwise, babe."
Natsu's brain completely melted at her words. He couldn't even conjure up a comeback. Lucy hummed as she leaned down. Natsu sucked in a gasp as her lips trailed the outer bits of his ear.
"Lu...cy...?"
"I win..."
Bright light surrounded her body as her star dress disappeared and left her with her original outfit. She froze in her position above Natsu, well aware of what she did while in her star dress. She was such an idiot! How could she forget that Loke was a huge flirt!?
Natsu laid still on the ground as he processed what just happened. Lucy opened her mouth to try and explain.
"Na- I'm- uh, I can't control it I swear!" She whined, forcing herself to lean back and land on her knees. Her face burned in embarrassment and shame. Now, if this was anyone else, her flirting wouldn't bother her. Because it was empty and held no feeling as she was not in love with them. But it was Natsu, and she just knew that Loke's personality would be amplified around him.
She hid her face in her hands.
"I," Natsu muttered. Lucy peeked at him through her fingers and watched as he sat up and gave her a sly smile. "I take back everything I thought about that star dress. I think it might be my favorite."
Lucy didn't think it was possible for her face to get any redder.
"Na-Natsu!"
…
"Come on Lucy, we need you dig us a way out." Gray sighed, banging on the steel cellar doors that trapped them in a basement. They would of just blasted through, but the doors were enchanted to make it so magic couldn't be used on it.
Lucy furrowed her brows as the eyes of Team Natsu followed her. She wanted to use her Virgo star dress to get them out, she really did. Since the holes she could dig were more powerful than Virgo's.
But...
It was too embarrassing!
"I can't, I'll make a complete fool of myself!"
"Then just call Virgo herself out," Erza sighed, crossing her arms and squinting. She desperately tried to see the blonde, but the complete darkness of the basement blocked her view. "This is embarrassing for all of us. To get trapped here while on a simple monster hunting job." Erza let out a forced sigh as she rubbed her temples.
"How were we supposed to know the client would accidentally lock us in while we were searching for leads down here? And it wouldn't be a problem, if the old dude didn't enchant the stupid doors." Gray grumbled. Erza shook her head.
"Still, this is quite the predicament."
"I couldn't call Virgo even if I wanted to. Her contract states i can't call her today." Lucy whined. She hated being of no use, but she just couldn't transform into her Virgo form while her friends were around. Especially Natsu.
"Just do it Luce, how bad could it be?"
"Bad, trust me. Very, very bad."
"Lucy please!" Wendy pleaded, grabbing the sleeve of Lucy's jacket. "We're your friends, no matter how you act we won't make fun of you."
"Unless you do something funny."
"Not helping, Natsu."
"Right."
"Anyway," Wendy sighed. "Please?" Lucy's eyes twitched, even in the dark, she could just feel Wendy's puppy eyes. And she couldn't resist.
"Fine."
They cheered as Lucy grabbed Virgo's key and called out her star dress.
She just prayed things wouldn't get weird.
Oh who was she kidding?
Dressed in a maid outfit, Lucy clasped her hands together in front of her. Her eyes lost their brightness as she bowed to her friends.
"How can I assist you?"
"Dig us out of here, Lucy-Virgo!" Natsu grinned, ready to feel the sunlight on his skin. Lucy faltered for a moment when she looked at him, but nodded.
"As you wish, Prince."
"Oh, a Prince huh? She liiiikes you." Happy snickered, hoping to get a reaction out of the blonde. But Lucy remained stoic as she turned so that her back faced them. Jumping through the dirt, she began to dig their way out, quickly creating a tunnel to the outside. She climbed out first as everyone followed. She helped out Wendy, who came up last.
"Thanks Lucy." Erza smiled.
"I don't know you were so embarrassed, your Virgo star dress isn't that-" Gray stopped mid-sentence as Lucy turned to Natsu and dropped to sit on her calves and bow to him. Her forehead sitting upon her hands.
"I'm ready for my punishment Prince."
"-bad...wow is that bad." Gray mumbled, desperately trying to hide his amusement behind his fist as he brought it to his lips. Happy never tried, busting out laughing as Lucy obediently waited for Natsu's response.
Natsu, on the other hand, stood completely frozen. What was he supposed to do? Or say? His panicked eyes met Wendy's and Erza's. Erza covered her mouth with her hand in an attempt to hide her grin and the shake of her shoulders.
"Just treat her like how Lucy treats Virgo." Wendy offered, worryingly watching over Lucy.
"Uh okay. I'm not punishing you Lucy." Natsu deadpanned. Lucy looked up with wide eyes.
"Why not?"
"Because that's weird!"
"B-But..." Lucy trailed off, eyes glossy from the wall of tears just ready to fall. Natsu's jaw dropped. Virgo was not this emotional about not getting punished. What the hell was going through Lucy's mind?
"Ugh, fine."
"Natsu!" Everyone yelled, humor completely disappearing.
"Really?" Her eyes sparkled. He didn't understand how that could possibly make anyone light up in joy. He sighed and bent down, eye level with Lucy. Everyone watched in anticipation as Natsu raised his hand.
Sighs of relief escaped their lips as Natsu flicked her forehead. Lucy froze, before a wide smile and a blush bloomed across her face.
"Thank you, Prince!" She smiled, finally transforming out of her dress.
"How did you know that would work?" Gray asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Virgo was practically ecstatic when Lucy flicked her forehead. I thought that it couldn't hurt to try." Natsu explained with a shake of his head.
Lucy blinked in confusion. Why was she on the ground? And why did her forehead hurt like hell? Rubbing the sore spot, she peered up to see Natsu grinning down at her.
"Back to the real world, are you?"
Lucy's face slowly lit up bright red.
"I made a fool of myself, didn't I?"
"Yeah."
"Sorry..."
"Nah it's cool, plus it was hilarious."
"You laughed!?"
"Not me, them." Natsu explained, point a finger to everyone behind her. She twisted her neck to come face to face with a snickering Gray and Erza.
"You guys!"
A/N~ To be honest I had a bit of trouble deciding the last star dress to choose. The other options seemed kind of boring besides Taurus, but his personality would of seemed too similar to Leo's so I ditched the idea. Either way, this was fun to write, especially Virgo's.
