Ch.8: Reveal
I would awake that morning at 8 with a yawn. I was quite amused. The girls were all already up. Rainbow Dash was hitting a vape pen. Rarity was brushing her hair. Fluttershy and Pinkie were playing fetch with Spike. Twilight was on her phone. Applejack was watching the news. And Sunset, my love, was taking a shower.
Now, I know that it may seem boring to recount what we were all doing. But today, there are images I hold onto dearly, as you never know what will happen. Rainbow Dash turned to me with a smirk. "So, I saw a nice box this morning" she smiled.
I blushed hard. I had left it on the kitchen table the previous night. I could only nod as Rainbow smirked wider. Rarity rose with a wide smile.
"That's wonderful darling!" she exclaimed. I quickly waved my hand in a lower position, not wanting Sunset to overhear. "I'm going to do it after breakfast."
The girls quickly shook their heads. "Do it when she's out of the shower" Pinkie insisted. I gulped, looking down. Was I ready? This to me wasn't a game. It was something that I refused to turn myself back on. I took a deep breath.
As Sunset made her way into the room, humming to the good tunes of Cheville, she gasped at what she saw. I was down on one knee, holding up a blue gemmed ring. Sunset's name was engraved in it.
I choked back tears. "Sunset, you have made me the happiest man in the world. I never once thought I would have a relationship like we have, but that has indeed been the case. I can not think of anyone else that I want to spend my life with."
"Sunset Maria Shimmer, will you marry me?"
With tears in her eyes, Sunset swept me up into a kiss. I kissed back as our friends took photos. Sunset nodded eagerly.
"Yes! Yes! I will marry you David Allen Root!"
It was a heartwarming moment. Our tears of happiness turned to chuckles as our bellies demanded sustenance. Breakfast was being called.
Ah, the smells. I smile as I think of them now. The wheat smell of toast. The meaty aroma of bacon in a pan. Eggs. Even the fruity smell of smoothies.
We all were in harmony as we worked. Fluttershy carefully chopped fruit. Rainbow tapped her foot as the toast toasted.
Suddenly, we heard a laugh. "A happy time, huh? By the way, congrats Sunset and David. My denizens should be happy."
Twilight turned her head from the table, looking directly at the door. We all turned slowly.
Step two had come. Midnight had arrived. It was time for her to meet her subjects.
