My Equestrian Archives-Breaking Dawn

Ch.12: Moon vs Midnight

As Midnight celebrated her victory with a cheerful and silly grin, Midnight's eyes widened, then went to the size of pupils as she looked at the gym doors opening by magic.

There stood Princess Luna. Her look could have cut through razor wire. She trotted into the gym, boring holes through Midnight.

"I challenge thee to a duel!" she declared.

Midnight frowned. "Now Princess. Do we really have to resolve this with violence?"

"Indeed!" Luna exclaimed. "You just beat up my lover!"

Midnight closed her eyes. Her heart and brain held conflicting feelings and emotions. Finally, she sighed, looking at the Alicorn.

"Fine. What weapons. And what are the terms?"

Luna smirked. "Shotguns. And you have to fall to lose"

Midnight nodded and snapped her fingers, producing two silver shotguns and tossing one to the Princess.

"Before we start" Luna said. "I must know...if you win, do you plan to kill anyone?"

Midnight looked away with a frown. "No. I want my denizens to respect me. Not fear me. By the way, You and Celestia are amazing. I consider myself to be a fan."

"Flattery won't get you but so far, Midnight" the Lunar Princess said matter of factly, aiming at the entity and firing. Midnight looked straight at her, as the bullet connected.

She gritted her teeth as tears fell. The bullet had pierced her chest, but she did not fall.

After taking a deep breath, Midnight aimed, knowing where to shoot. Luna was stunned as a bullet connected, causing her to fall to the ground. She clutched the bullets area- her left front hoof.

Midnight walked over and squatted down, picking up Luna as if she were weightless. Luna looked for any emotion out of Midnight but found none.

Midnight sighed as she opened the front doors, seeing that several people had gathered, plus Princesses Celestia and Twilight. Twilight gasped at the entity, before turning to the eight of us. We had come to the school after finishing our food and cleaning.

She calmly snapped her fingers, removing the bullet and cleaning the wound, before setting Luna next to Tirek. She looked to the eight of us. "Anyone else? You know...you all are not challenging me well. Do you really want my rule?"

Sunset sighed internally. She thought on my words from the previous night.

For Equestria, she had to try.
