My Equestrian Archives-Breaking Dawn

Ch.13: Sunset's Charge

As Sunset entered the school, Midnight found herself sitting in the principal's office. It was ironic really. For an entity with her goals, she felt as if she needed to be there. She looked around, gazing at the awards. Principal Celestia had a Master's in Secondary Education.

Tears filled her eyes. She thought of giving up the fight, but she feared what would come next. Would she be turned to stone? Or even worse, would she be hated?

Midnight was not able to dwell on this for too long, as the door slowly opened, and Sunset opened it. No words were spoken as Sunset sat down across from Midnight. Midnight snapped her fingers, producing two glasses of wine.

Midnight sighed. "I don't know, Sunset. Is this worth it? I respect what the Princesses have done. But I think of all the poor ponies that live like they do. Or the citizens here that struggle, wanting their lives to be easier."

"Midnight, why do you want this so badly?" Sunset asked, sipping on her wine.

Midnight frowned. "The fight has to be made. And no one else stepped up but me"

Midnight then smiled softly. "My offer still stands you know. And with my magic, I am sure we could have fun."

Sunset shook her head. "I came here to try and talk sense into you. But if I must defeat you, I will."

"Tirek said the same thing" Midnight smirked. "But look at what happened. How would David react if he lost the love of his life?"

At that, Sunset stood angrily, finishing her wine in one gulp. "Its on, Midnight. Let us dance"

As this occurred, everyone waited anxiously outside. Rarity knitted a dress as we waited.

I then could hear loud shouts and bangs from inside.

"They're brawling" Rainbow said. I nodded, turning to her.

"I can't take it anymore. I saw it in Midnight's eyes this morning. She doesn't want this. She wants friendship."

"But then. Why not ask for it?" Applejack questioned.

I sighed, looking over at a recovering Tirek as Luna looked him over. "Midnight is like Sunset. She feels as if she does not deserve it."

With that, I went to step forward, only to stop as Princess Celestia turned me to her.

"It's too dangerous, David."

I nodded. "I know- but I don't care."

With that, I walked inside.

"Sunset? Midnight?" I called. My brow furrowed as I frowned. Where were they?

I gasped then, seeing Midnight Shoving Sunset into a locker. Midnight growled.

"I will rule! I don't want to do this Sunset" she said, her voice breaking" But. I will," she said as she went to snap her fingers, her hands glowing white.

My eyes widened and I ran over. Me and Sunset's eyes locked. I gave her a wave, smiling, and stepping in the way of the blast.

In seconds, I was on the floor.

Neither of them moved for a minute. Midnight covered her mouth, dropping to her knees. Sunset began to cry, embracing Midnight. This had been an accident.

But it meant my last breath.
