Chapter 29
End of the Internships (Arisa's POV)
Opening Song: Planet Hero by Rie Takahashi (MHA Version)
(The first scene shows the sun rising in Musutafu and, in their school uniforms, Arisa and Felicia are in town watching it as their friends Usagi, Eli, Kai, and Yuki join them. They all run to school and as the title "Line of Good and Evil: A Tale of Two Exchange Students 1" appears.)
The world's greatest heroes.
It's not a dream.
(GO! GO!)
Run to the infinite future
(The next sequences of scenes show the following students one by one: Arisa Kawasaki, Felicia Marvell, Kai Uno, Yuki Drago, Ellix "Eli" Francisco Barbaros, and Sakura "Usagi" Tsubomi)
It's a miracle that suddenly appeared in front of us
The best encounter transcends the universe
More today than yesterday, more tomorrow than ever
Let's battle it out with our Quirk and go UP!
Sometimes we falter, sometimes we chafe, sometimes we become stronger
(The scene shows the following villains: Kurogiri, Zap, Jouko Gumo, Danji Vinci, and Reaper. Next, the scene shows Tomura Shigaraki and the Leauge of Villains, and Eraser Head with Class 1-A. After that, Arisa, Felicia, and their friends make it to class with Speed Girl and their classmates there.)
I'll show you our bond, sometimes frustrated and rubbed (getting stronger)
Because I'm not alone (always)
I can feel you next to me (buddy!)
Today too, just look ahead and go! (I'm going with you)
(In the USJ and in their hero costumes, the following Class 1-L students use their Quirks first: Tatsumi, Maruto, Miru, Ai, Makoto, and Junko. Then Usagi, Eli, Yuki, Kai, Felicia, and Arisa.)
The best heroes in this world
Let's enjoy every moment
Awesome! Wonderful! (GO! GO!)
Even when you're stumbling alone
I can feel the strength and courage in your hands
(The final sequence of scenes shows an open field with Arisa, Felicia, Yuki, Kai, Eli, and Usagi running for fun, with Speed Girl and their classmates joining them, and lastly, a picture of Class 1-L is shown on Speed Girl's desk.)
Because it's our friends who can feel it
Run to the future ahead!
Time flew by quickly as it was the last day of my internship.
On the morning of the fourth day of the internship, I was glad that Shoto came back. Then we went on patrol with Endeavor in Gunma City because Hosu City was now safe with the Hero Killer arrested. We did the same thing for the remainder of the internship.
Shoto and I mostly tried to keep up with Endeavor because he was always quick to stop crimes. Sometimes we would make it in time to see him stop the criminals and save the people. I wasn't paying attention some of the times because I was worried with the Reaper still out there, she could come back for revenge against Kai, Eli, and me, or to free Stain from prison.
I heard on the news during the internship that the Pro Hero Droid Cop was arrested for working with villains and almost murdering someone. I think Tatsumi chose him for his internship and I hoped he was alright. Luckily, the news reported no deaths or casualties so it looked like he was okay.
Even so, that news just made me worried for what can happen. Either villains can come at you out of nowhere, or they can be a hero in disguise.
Right now, I was having breakfast with Shoto and the Flaming Sidekickers. We were watching the news about some strange robberies.
The reporter explained that unusual fogs came into various Japanese cities within certain areas for the past few days. During those fogs, people would report sounds of fighting, with some Pro Heroes defeated, and money stolen from banks. Also, crates of diamonds, coals, chemicals, and natural gas were stolen from shipping yards. The Pro Heroes think a villain is behind it, given the only clue is a set of wet footprints at the crime scenes.
-My Hero Academia
After Shoto and I finished eating, we followed Endeavor for another patrol in Gunma City.
"Shoto, Kawasaki. This is the last day of your internship. So far, you've seen how I handle crimes here in the city. Now, it's time you know how I do it," Endeavor started.
Shoto and I nodded in agreement.
"The reason I'm able to do it is because I don't hesitate. If you hesitate for even a single moment, it could mean the end for you and the people you're fighting for and protecting," he explained.
As we were walking, we saw a random robber wearing a ski mask and running with a bag of money.
"Wait here," Endeavor instructed us as he went to go to stop the robber.
Shoto and I simply watched Endeavor stop the robber immediately, and the police showed up to arrest the robber.
"I don't like to admit this, but Endeavor is a pretty good Pro Hero. Though his social skills need work," I said.
"I agree," Shoto responded.
As I watched Endeavor talk to the police, I started to think about what he said.
'I know hesitation is bad when you're a Pro Hero, but sometimes it can't be helped,' I thought as I remembered the Hosu City incident. 'Reaper was close to attacking me, and I was so scared that I didn't know what to do because I hesitated. I'm glad I sent up a beam of light, which sent her away for now, but what if she comes back? Should I do same thing again or make a barrier?'
I closed my eyes with worry, concerned for what might happen.
"Arisa," Shoto snapped me out of thought as I looked at him. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," I nodded.
Then we saw Endeavor finished talking with the police as he approached us.
"Alright, let's continue the patrol," Endeavor led the way and we followed.
The patrol led to us the shipping yard of Gunma City. Suddenly, we saw a fog roll in immediately.
"Fog?" Endeavor asked the question that was on our minds.
"Ahhhhhh! Help!" we heard some people yell.
"What was that?" I asked worriedly.
Endeavor made the fire on his face and body burn strongly to make the fog around us evaporate right away.
"Follow me," He ordered.
Shoto and I kept up with Endeavor as his fire kept evaporating the fog. Once the fog was gone, I saw that we made it the center of the shipping yard. It was a large area of full of huge crates, forklifts, crane machinery, and docked ships.
We saw the workers lying down and knocked out.
"What happened here?" Shoto asked.
"I'm what happened," a male voice replied.
We saw on one of the ships the sound of the voice. He looked like a sawshark creature with a tall and big body, what looked like a 4ft long and pointy nose, two medium dorsal fins on his back, and a short tail. He wore a dark gray metal suit that covered his entire body, except for his mouth and face cheeks. On his face, he had red lenses for his eyes. From his cheeks, it looked like he has brown skin.
'That's the villain? He looks kind of menacing,' I thought with concern.
"Well, not only do I get to steal this oil tanker, but I get to beat up another Pro Hero. Things are lookin' good for Saw," the villain, known as Saw, stated.
"So, you're the one behind the recent thefts and strange fog," Endeavor figured out.
"Yup," Saw confirmed. "Thanks to my suit and the ocean water, I've been on one heck of a crime spree."
"This villain sounds serious, Shoto," I commented.
"He does," Shoto agreed.
Then Saw spotted Shoto and me.
"Did I catch you at a bad time while you were babysitting, Endeavor?" the villain taunted.
"Shoto, Kawasaki, stand back and watch me work," Endeavor instructed as he looked at us with a serious look, ignoring the villain.
Shoto and I stood near some crates, prepared to watch a fight. Though I was more concerned.
"Hold on there, campfire," Saw said, making Endeavor look at him. "Did you forget that I'm on an oil tanker? One spark from you, and the whole thing goes up in smoke, and so will the knocked out people inside."
Shoto and I saw that Endeavor looked angry from the villain's logic.
"You know, I actually owe my crime spree to you, Endeavor," Saw sneered.
'What?' I thought.
"What do you mean?" Endeavor asked seriously.
"Before the Hero Killer's arrest, I was hired to do only a few crime jobs. With you defeating Stain and his ideals spreading on the web, other villains are really on the move. Some of them hired me to do more jobs for them to get their resources, and I'm really swimming in the money. They need supply to do their stuff and I come in to steal what they demand," Saw explained.
'Oh no,' I thought as I glanced at Shoto, who looked angry.
"You thought by beating Stain you were getting rid of one villain off the streets, but instead you just made more villains want to come out to play," Saw sneered again and laughed.
'I can't believe this. If what he said is true, then things might get worse with more villains attacking,' I thought with worry.
"Are you done talking?" Endeavor interrupted, as he got everyone's attention. "I don't care how many more villains come. I'll take them all down, just like I'll do with you."
Endeavor pointed to Saw, who looked angry from how the Pro Hero was acting.
'It's ironic that Endeavor can keep a cool head sometimes,' I thought.
"Let's see if you're still talking big when I'm done with you," Saw retorted.
The villain press a button on his suit, which made fog quickly come out of holes that opened on his arms and legs. The fog spread over the whole area.
"This won't work on me," Endeavor made the fire on him hot enough to make the fog evaporate again.
Shoto and I saw the villain in the air, aiming to slam Endeavor. The Pro Hero saw too as he jumped away. When Saw landed, his head was exposed, revealing his short brown hair, dark-blue eyes, brown skin, and white spikes on the sides and front of his long nose. Also, his nose was in the ground, and when he stood up, there were some cracks in the ground.
'Saw has a really sharp nose,' I worriedly thought.
The villain pressed a button on wrist to make his helmet flip back on his head. Endeavor used that opportunity to use the fire on his feet to propel him to quickly headbutt Saw in the gut, stunning him for a moment. Then the Pro Hero grabbed him, and flew straight to the sky with the fire on his feet. He lifted Saw over his head, and burned his fire intensely, which also burnt the villain.
"Ahhhhhh!" the villain screamed in pain.
Endeavor threw Saw strongly into the ocean, making a big water splash and a billow of smoke rise to the sky. The Pro Hero landed on the ground, waiting to see what happens next.
'Is it over?' I thought.
Suddenly, something quickly shot of the water and landed on the oil tanker. It was Saw, but with some scorch marks on his metal suit. The strangest part was his cheeks were big and puffy, like they were full of something.
'I guess not, but why are his cheeks like that?' I thought.
Saw then blasted out of his mouth a barrage of medium-sized water spheres at Endeavor, who flew over them thanks to his fire. When those spheres hit the crates, they strongly exploded as Shoto and I took cover behind some other crates.
'That attack answers my question,' I thought as Shoto and I stopped hiding, and kept watching the fight.
Luckily, Endeavor flew away from us and to the sky, and Saw was out of water as his cheeks were normal.
Name: Saw. Quirk: Sawshark. He basically looks like a Japanese Sawshark, and he can store a lot of water in his mouth. Combined with his shark suit, he's not a shark you want coming after you.
"You're not the only one who can fly," Saw remarked.
He pressed another button on his wrist, making water shoot out of his soles and propelling him to the sky.
"I'm coming for you," the villain taunted, aiming to hit Endeavor.
"Not a chance," the Pro Hero retorted.
Endeavor ignited his fists and lifted them up. Just before Saw could hit him, Endeavor brought his fiery fists down on the villain, creating an explosion and sending him down to the ground. Though Saw wasn't down for long as he suddenly got back up.
The Pro Hero quickly used his Ignited Arrow to fire a flaming arrow down at Saw. The villain saw it coming, jumped out of the way, and dived back to the ocean.
Endeavor landed on the ground, waiting for Saw to come out.
'I hope Endeavor defeats Saw soon,' I thought.
Suddenly, Saw came out and landed on the oil tanker again. This time, his whole body was surrounded by water. He then pressed another button on his wrist, which made all the water on his body go to his palms, where giant water spheres were forming.
"Now, you're going to experience the full power of my suit! Hydro Blast!" Saw yelled, joining his hands together to send a giant blast of water at Endeavor.
Shoto and I watched as the Pro Hero ignited a lot of fire in his two hands.
"Fireflash Blast!" Endeavor yelled, joining his hands together to send a powerful fire blast at Saw's attack.
The two attacks collided, and seemed to be evenly matched.
'Wow, Endeavor's attacking with all his power,' I thought.
"You're going down Endeavor!" Saw yelled.
Endeavor put more fire into his attack, which started to overpower the water attack.
"No, this can't be. My water should be beating your fire," the villain was surprised. "If you don't stop, you'll make the oil tanker explode and kill the people on board!"
"No, my attack won't hurt anyone, but you!" Endeavor yelled, putting more fire into his attack.
Fireflash Blast then completely overpowered the Hydro Blast. The fire hit Saw in the face, which exploded on contact and sent him hurdling into the ocean with a big splash.
Endeavor then took a breather for a few seconds before walking over to the ocean, and Shoto and I joined him.
We saw that Saw resurfaced, but now he was on his back and knocked out.
"Shoto, Kawasaki, you saw the battle?" Endeavor questioned.
"Yes," we both responded.
"That is what it means to be a hero. Giving it everything you have and not letting hesitation stop you from defeating the villain and saving people," he advised.
Shoto and I both thought about what Endeavor said as we looked at the defeated Saw and remembered their battle.
A minute later, the Flaming Sidekickers and the police showed up to arrest Saw and help the knocked out workers in both the shipping yard and the oil tanker.
After that, we continued our patrol with Endeavor, who looked better after the battle. Luckily, nothing else serious came up, and everything looked okay now. We even had lunch while patrolling.
-My Hero Academia-
Soon, it was evening, and Shoto and I had dinner with the Flaming Sidekickers at Endeavor Agency. Once we finished, Burnin told us that Endeavor wanted to see us in his personal office.
"Shoto, Kawasaki, your internship was long and surprising, but hopefully you both learned something from it," Endeavor started, sitting at his desk and looking at us.
Shoto and I stood as we listened to what the Pro Hero said.
"Shoto, you need to keep practicing using your fire side. Kawasaki, don't hesitate to use your Quirk's full power," he advised to us.
Shoto and I nodded in understanding.
"That is all. You two can go now," Endeavor ended the conversation, sitting back at his desk to check his papers.
I was kind of surprised that was all he had to say, but he is Endeavor. Shoto and I left the personal office and went to our rooms. I changed into my school uniform, packed my bag, and put away my hero costume in the silver suitcase.
After that, I was surprised to see the Flaming Sidekickers in the hallway, but Shoto had his usual calm look.
"Hey guys. Just wanted to say it was nice working with you two," Burnin had her usual toothy grin, with Kido and Onima nodding in agreement.
"Thank you," Shoto said.
"Yeah, it was great to be here," I replied.
"Here's a little sendoff for the both of you," Burnin grabbed a piece of her fiery hair.
Then she moved in her hands and tossed into the air above. It came out as light-green fireworks and the message "Good Job!" was written out.
Name: Burnin. Quirk: Blazing Hair. She can freely control the flames on her head, like grabbing a bit to throw like a fireball. This hot hair is something some girls would dream of having.
"Wow, that was great," I commented.
"Thank you, Burnin," Shoto responded.
"You're both welcome," Burnin said.
Shoto and I were on our way to the Gunma Station, and we boarded the train. Luckily, it was just us on the train since it was late at night, and that I wanted to ask Shoto something.
"Shoto, have you been using your fire side?" I inquired.
"Yes, I have," Shoto calmly answered.
"But why?" I asked, thinking back to Shoto not wanting to use his fire side because of his dad.
"Remember when I said about being the hero I want to be?" he asked me, and I nodded. "I've decided to use both my ice and fire sides, but not how my old man wants me to."
"That's nice for you, Shoto," I stated.
"What about you Arisa and your Quirk?" he questioned.
"Well, I've been mainly using it for defense. I sometimes used it for offense, but only on objects. I have to learn how to use my Quirk for offense, especially to protect my friends," I explained.
"I'm sure you will," Shoto supported me.
"Thanks. Shoto, why were getting mad at the shipping yard," I inquired.
"You noticed?" he asked.
"Yeah," I nodded. "You got angry when Saw talked about how there were probably more villains coming because of Stain getting arrested and his ideals spreading on the web."
"It's just that Midoriya, Iida, and I worked hard to defeat Stain and save the Pro Heroes so they can save the people. We acted like real Pro Heroes, but to hear that beating Stain has only made more villains want to attack makes me angry," Shoto explained.
"I can sort of understand that because you feel like your effort to stop Stain might have been for nothing if more villains show up. Though as long as we keep working and training hard, I'm sure we'll stop whatever villains come our way," I tried to cheer him up.
"You're probably right. Thank you, Arisa," he thanked me.
"You're welcome," I smiled, feeling glad I helped my friend.
When the train arrived at Tatooin Station, we both got off and went our separate ways.
'I wonder if I should talk to Felicia about our internships when I get to the Emerald Shade,' I thought while walking. 'Probably not because it's late. I'll just wait until tomorrow.'
At the Emerald Shade, I went to my room and quickly put away my stuff because of how late it was. Then I showered and changed into my pajamas.
Just as I was about to get into bed, I got texts from Sadie and Gabriel and we were in group chat. I sat on the bed as I replied to them.
SF: Hey Arisa. How r your friends doing?
GM: How was your internship? Who did u pick?
AK: I'm fine. My friends are too. My internship was good. I picked Endeavor.
SF: Good to know you're well. You picked Endeavor? Wow. What was it like being with him?
GM: You probably learned a lot from him. Was anyone else with you?
AK: Endeavor was okay. Shoto Todoroki was there with me.
SF: No way. Shoto Todoroki was great in the Sports Festival.
GM: He sure was. The match between him and Izuku was cool.
AK: How are you two doing?
GM: I'm good.
SF: Me too. I never asked, but who are your friends in class?
GM: You with a good group?
AK: I am. One of my friends is Felicia, an exchange student from London, England. The others are Usagi, Miru, Makoto, and Junko. Also, Kai, Eli, Tatsumi, and Maruto.
SF: Wow, you have a lot of friends.
GM: Glad to know you're okay.
AK: Thx.
GM: It's getting late now. So good night.
SF: Good night.
AK: Good night.
'It's good to know my hometown friends are well, and that I told them about my U.A. High friends and a bit about the internship. Maybe I should call my parents and let them know I'm alright from the internship,' I thought as I called them.
"Hello?" my mom started.
"Hi mom," I said.
"Arisa, it's so good to hear you. It's been so long," my mom replied.
"Are dad and my brothers there?" I questioned.
"Right now, Hiroto is sleeping, and your dad is giving Mitsuru a bath," my mom answered.
"Okay then," I responded.
"Arisa, how was your internship? Were you okay with Endeavor?" my mom sounded worried.
"I'm fine, mom. The internship was good, and Endeavor was nice, for the most part," I explained.
"Thank goodness. When your dad and I read online about the incident in Hosu City and that Endeavor was there, we were worried if you were hurt. Even though the news said there were no serious injuries to the Pro Heroes, we were still concerned for you," my mom mentioned.
"I'm alright. I wasn't injured at all," I assured her.
"I'm glad to hear that. Your dad and I were going to call you, but we know you're old enough to take care of yourself and we didn't want to bother you during your internship," my mom added.
"That's nice of you to say, mom. Thanks," I smiled.
"You're welcome, Arisa. Well, it's getting late here and probably for you too. Talk to you again, Arisa," my mom stated.
"Okay. Bye," I ended the call.
'I'm glad my family is okay, and I assured my parents that everything was alright with my internship with Endeavor. Even though I can't tell them what really happened to me in Hosu City, at least things worked out well thanks to help from Kai and Eli,' I thought, getting into bed.
Feeling better after talking to my friends and family, I went to sleep because tomorrow it's back to U.A. High.
Ending Song: Don't Look Back (English Dub) by Rummy Labyrinth (MHA Version)
