Chapter 30

End of the Internships (Felicia's POV)

On the last day of my internship, I woke up as usual, changed into my hero costume, and had breakfast with Momo, Kendo, and the Pro Hero Uwabami in the cafeteria.

While we were eating, we saw the news about unusual fogs, defeated Pro Heroes, and mysterious thefts in various Japanese cities that have been going on recently. The thefts included money from banks, and crates of coal, diamonds, chemicals, and natural gas from shipping yards. The only clues that the Pro Heroes and police had to go on were the strange fogs and wet footprints.

'I hope someone stops those strange crimes soon,' I thought.

That news reminded me of the news I heard yesterday. It was about the Pro Hero Droid Cop, who was arrested for working with villains and attempted murder. I remembered from class that Tatsumi chose Droid Cop for his internship. At first, I was concerned that something happened to Tatsumi, but luckily there were no injuries or deaths reported so it seemed he was alright.

After we finished breakfast, Momo, Kendo, and I followed Uwabami to the limo. On the way, I waved to Karen Tsuji as I sometimes did.

In the limo, the four of us were waiting to get the photo shoot location.

Then Uwabami said, "Okay girls, today is the last day of the internship. I've got something special for you girls planned later on. I hope you look forward to it."

"Okay," we replied and nodded.

What the Snake Hero said surprised me.

'I wonder what Uwabami has planned for us,' I thought.

I glanced at Momo and Kendo, and saw they were surprised by Uwabami's news too.

A little later, we arrived at a building in downtown, where the photo shoot would take place.

Momo, Kendo, and I stood and watched as Uwabami posed in front of a beach backdrop with some beach chairs.

Instead of wearing her usual purple dress, she wore some pretty swimsuits.

"After this, Uwabami has a radio interview and another photo shoot," Momo read aloud from the Snake Hero's schedule book.

"Even though we got to do some patrol, it still feels like we're her entourage," Kendo commented.

"Indeed," I agreed.

"This is just what it takes to be a Pro," Momo commented with determination.

Kendo and I sweat-dropped from what she said as the three of us watched Uwabami pose for the cameras.

'I can't help but notice that Momo has been like this for the whole internship. Always trying to find meaning to Uwabami's tasks. Is it because we haven't done as much hero work as she expected or is it something else?' I thought.

After the photo shoot was finished, we arrived at the same radio station we've been to before.

There the host Asaka Shindo asked Uwabami questions about yesterday's news involving the arrest of Droid Cop and the revelation of him working with with villains.

When the interview ended, the limo took us to the park for the Snake Hero to do her last photo shoot for the day.

Once that was over and the photographers left, Uwabami asked us, "How about we go on patrol?"

"Yes," we calmly nodded because we knew what would happen.

A few minutes while patrolling, Momo, Kendo, and I saw the Snake Hero was surrounded by her fans again.

'It seems like the patrol will be long again,' I thought.

-My Hero Academia-

After the fans left, we patrolled for a little longer before we stopped at the coffee shop Hero Coffee Haven.

"How about we take a little break here?" Uwabami questioned.

"Okay," We answered.

Then we went inside to place our orders. The coffee shop had a large counter with some people working there, and tables and chairs with some customers eating drinking, and chatting with each other.

'It's nice to be here again,' I thought.

When we got our orders, the four of us sat at one of the tables outside the shop.

"This food is delicious," Uwabami commented.

She had a cheesecake and latte, Kendo had a donut and black coffee, and both Momo and I had teacakes and tea.

While we were eating, someone approached us.

"Felicia, is that you?" the person asked.

We all looked at the person, and I was surprised to see a familiar young girl with light skin and purple eyes.

"Mariko Tsuji?" I responded.

Unlike the last time I saw her, Mariko wore a light-purple hoodie, blue jeans, and white sneakers. She had her long silver hair in a high ponytail for some reason, but she still had her two long locks in front of her shoulders.

"Yeah, it's me," Mariko smiled.

"You know her, Felicia?" Uwabami asked as she, Momo, and Kendo looked at me.

"Yes, I do," I answered as I looked back at Mariko. "What are you doing here?"

"I was strolling through town to look for some inspiration for my art when I got hungry. Though I'm not surprised to see you with Uwabami," she explained.

"Why not?" Kendo asked.

"My sister Karen works for Uwabami, and she told me about Felicia interning with some other girls for the the Snake Hero," Mariko revealed.

"Ah, yes. Your sister Karen does talk about you a little bit," Uwabami mentioned.

"It's nice to meet you, Mariko. I'm Momo Yaoyorozu," Momo introduced herself.

"I'm Itsuka Kendo," Kendo said.

"Yeah, it's nice to meet you both," Mariko responded.

"But how did you know this is Felicia?" Momo gestured to me. "She's wearing her hero costume."

I got worried from what she might say, but I kept a neutral look on my face.

'I hope Mariko remembered what Detective Tezuka said,' I thought.

"My sister also told me what Felicia looks like in her hero costume, in case I saw her and wanted to talk to her," Mariko replied.

"That makes sense," Uwabami nodded, and so did Momo and Kendo.

'Thank goodness,' I thought.

"How do you and Felicia know each other?" Kendo wondered.

'Oh no,' I thought with worry.

"I'd like to talk about that, but I need to use the bathroom. I'll be right back," Mariko went inside the coffee shop.

'I need to talk to her,' I thought.

Just as Momo was about to talk, right away I said, "I have to use the bathroom as well. Excuse me."

I got up and went inside the coffee shop. There I found Mariko in a hallway, waiting outside for the bathroom and I went to her.

"Hey Felicia," she noticed me. "You need the bathroom too?"

"Yes, and I needed to talk to you," I told her.

"Is it about the girls wanting to know how you and I know each other?" Mariko guessed.

"Yes," I nodded.

Mariko gestured for me to come closer to her. I kneeled down to her and she whispered, "Don't worry. My sister and I came up with a story, just in case someone asked about me running away and how I came back. Also, there's no mention of the Rakugaki."

"Good," I whispered back. "Can you tell me the story while we're waiting for the bathroom?"

"Sure," Mariko agreed.

After she told me the story and the person in the bathroom came out, Mariko went in.

'I hope the others believe the story,' I thought.

Once she was done, I went to the bathroom. When I finished, I saw Mariko come out of the line with her order in hand: a cup of milk and a plate of cookies. The both of us went back outside, and I sat with the others, who finished their food and drinks. Mariko pulled up a chair and sat next to me.

"Glad you're both back," Uwabami smiled. "So Mariko, how do you and Felicia know each other?"

I continued eating my teacake as the young girl spoke.

"It started with me running away from home because I had a fight with my sister Karen. She didn't want me to do my artwork and that I should focus on being a hero. I did okay on my own, but I missed her. I didn't know if she would let me back after the fight we had," Mariko started.

Uwabami, Momo, and Kendo were surprised by that.

"You actually did that?" Kendo was shocked.

"That was dangerous of you to do," Momo stated.

"You could have been hurt or worse," Uwabami said.

Mariko frowned and looked ashamed when she responded, "I know, but I was confused and I didn't know what else to do."

Then she bit into her cookie, still bad about what she did. As I finished my teacake and tea, I felt bad for the young girl.

'I know she feels bad for what she did, but at least things are better for her and her sister now,' I thought.

Seeing that Mariko was still felt down, I decided to take over.

"Anyway," I said, which made everyone look at me. "It was actually Arisa and I who met Mariko when she was on the run."

"How?" Momo questioned.

"Arisa and I went to the museum in Musutafu to check it out. I noticed a young girl trip, and I helped her up. Then her cap fell off, and I recognized her as Mariko Tsuji from the news about the missing child. She ran off immediately, and Arisa and I went after her. We stopped her outside the museum and took her to sit on a bench," I explained.

"Wow, that really happened?" Kendo asked, and I nodded in response.

"Arisa and I noticed that Mariko was hungry, so Arisa went to get her some food and water. I tried to get her to talk to me, but she was stubborn. Luckily, our shared interest in art got her talking. When Arisa got Mariko some food and water, she explained that she ran from home because of her sister not wanting her to do art. Arisa and I were lucky that we convinced Mariko to try to be both an artist and a hero. We took the train to Mariko's home and she was happily reunited with her sister," I finished the story.

The happy ending made Uwabami, Momo, and Kendo smile. I'm glad I saw Mariko was happy too as she finished her cookies and milk.

"It's great that you and your friend helped Mariko here return home to her sister," Uwabami commented.

"Thank you," I smiled.

"Yeah, thanks again, Felicia," Mariko said.

"So Mariko, if you want to be an artist and hero, that means you have a Quirk," the Snake Hero pointed out.

"I do," the young girl showed us the metal holes on her palms. "My Quirk is Spray Hands. I can spray a paint mist of any color through these metal holes."

"That sounds like a nice Quirk," Kendo commented, and Momo nodded.

"If you work hard, I think you can be a hero with your Quirk," Uwabami stated.

"Thanks," Mariko smiled.

'I'm glad things with Mariko and Karen are okay now, and that Mariko can try to be both a hero and artist,' I thought.

"Oh, and Felicia, the Quirks you and Arisa have are pretty great," the young girl mentioned as she then looked at Momo and Kendo. "The same goes for you, Momo and Kendo."

'Why is she saying that?' I thought with concern.

"Did you watch the Sports Festival?" Momo questioned.

"You bet," Mariko nodded. "I was lucky my sister recorded it for me. The giant bird you painted Felicia was amazing, and the blast Arisa fired to destroy the robot was cool."

"Thank you," I responded.

"Oh. Kendo you did good in the cavalry battle. Momo, nice job making it to those rounds of single battles," the young girl mentioned, looking at them.

"Thanks for the compliment," Kendo replied.

"Oh, yes," Momo gave a small smile.

I noticed that her smile turned into a small frown for a moment before she had a neutral look.

'Why did Momo look sad when Mariko mentioned the single battles?' I thought with curiosity.

"Plus those single battles were epic, like the fight between Todoroki and Midoriya. That fight between Kai and Yuki Drago was really intense," the young girl added.

"Nice to see you enjoyed the young heroes in action," Uwabami commented.

Mariko nodded, and took out her phone to check the time.

"Woah, is that the time?" she was surprised, but then calmed down as she got up. "This chat has been great, but I gotta head home now. I feel inspired to do some spray paint artwork."

"Alright. It was wonderful to see you again," I said.

"You're a pretty nice kid," Kendo commented.

"I agree," Momo nodded.

"You have a nice day, Mariko," Uwabami smiled.

"Thanks everyone. Bye," the young girl waved to us before leaving the coffee shop.

-My Hero Academia-

After that, we continued the patrol, but Uwabami kept getting surrounded by her fans. When the patrol was done, we got inside the limo.

"Chauffeur, take us to the special place," the Snake Hero ordered.

The driver understood as the limo started up and it was driving on the road.

"I'm sure you girls are curious by what I said," Uwabami guessed.

We nodded in agreement.

"It's time for the surprise I told you about this morning. As a treat for interning with me, we're going to have dinner at a fancy restaurant," she revealed.

"Huh?" we were surprised.

"It'll take a while to get there, but the food will be worth it," the Snake Hero added.

"Okay," we sweat-dropped.

A little later, we arrived at the fancy restaurant just as it was almost evening. It really was fancy because of the amazing tables and chairs, and pretty decorations inside.

When we were escorted to a table by a well dressed waiter, the other customers were whispering among themselves.

It sounded like the whispers were about Uwabami. Though I think they might have been also been talking about Momo, Kendo, and me because of our hero costumes.

After we placed our orders, I was surprised by the amazing food brought before us.

"I'm sure you girls will enjoy the food," the Snake Hero began eating her Shrimp Ceviche.

The rest of us ate our fancy dinner. I had the Roast Dinner, Momo had the Chicken Alfredo, and Kendo had the Paella.

The moment I tasted my dinner, I was amazed by how good it was.

'This is delicious,' I thought, still eating.

Also, I saw that Momo and Kendo enjoyed their dinner too.

-My Hero Academia-

Once we finished eating, we went back to the limo and arrived at the Uwabami Hero Office by evening. In the lobby, Uwabami told us she wanted to tell us something after we finished packing.

Momo, Kendo, and I took the elevator to our rooms. I changed into my school uniform, put away my hero costume in the silver suitcase, and packed the rest of my stuff in my bag. With our bags in hand, Momo, Kendo, and I took the elevator back to the lobby, where we found the Snake Hero waiting for us.

"Well girls, I hope you enjoyed seeing what the life of a Pro Hero is like. Even though we only did some patrolling, I'm sure you all learned something important. Have a safe trip back home," Uwabami smiled, leaving for the elevator.

With that done, we decided to leave for the Yokohama Station. Though I noticed Karen Tsuji at the front desk, and I decided to talk to her before leaving.

"Momo, Kendo," I caught their attention. "You two go on ahead. There's something I have to do. I will meet you at the station."

They looked confused at first, but they went with it and said, "Okay."

As soon as they left, I approached the front desk.

"Hello, Karen," I greeted her.

"Hello, Felicia," she greeted back. "Do you need something?"

"No, I just wanted to tell you I met with Mariko today," I mentioned.

"Really?" She asked, and I nodded.

"It was really nice to see her again," I said.

"I'm glad. Say, did you notice her hair in a ponytail?" She inquired, and I nodded. "Mariko changed her hair because of you and your friend helping her."

"She did?" I was surprised, and Karen nodded. "I'm flattered. Well, I have to head to the train station now."

"Alright. I hope you enjoyed your time here. Bye," she waved to me.

"Ta ta," I waved back, going out the front door.

I walked quickly to the Yokohama Station, and luckily I caught up with Momo and Kendo as our train arrived.

It was only us on board because of how late it was. Right now, we sat on a three-person seat, with Momo in the middle, using our phones to pass the time. I sometimes glanced at Momo because I think I figured out why she's been acting differently during the internship.

'Maybe I should talk to her now while it's just the three of us. I hope I'm right,' I thought, looking at her now.

"Momo," I started, which got the attention of her and Kendo as they looked up from their phones at me. "Are you okay?"

"Yes, I'm fine," Momo replied.

"Are you sure about?" I further questioned.

"What do you mean?" Momo was confused.

"Ever since the internship started, it looks like you've been trying to find some sort of meaning to Uwabami's tasks, like the photo shoots and commercial," I explained. "Is there a reason for that?"

"No, there isn't," Momo responded, though it looked like she was in denial.

I shook my head, and then told her, "Actually, there is."

"Can you explain?" Kendo joined in.

"Yes," I nodded. "I figured it out when we were talking to Mariko. At first, I thought you, Momo, were acting like that because we didn't do that much hero work at the internship. Also, from what I've heard my friends and your classmates say about you. When Mariko mentioned your fight at the Sports Festival, I noticed you looked down for a brief moment."

"Oh," Momo realized where this was going.

"I remembered from the Sports Festival that you unfortunately lost quickly to your classmate. I think you feel a little shaken about whether you can make quick decisions or not," I revealed.

"Is that right?" Kendo questioned Momo.

"Yes, it is," Momo admitted. "Felicia, how did you know?"

"My Quirk and your Quirk are sort of similar. You create things from your body, and whatever I paint comes to life. I have to decide and paint quickly what I need or else I might lose right away. If I were in your position and lost quickly, I might also feel down about myself," I continued.

"Do you have any advice?" Momo wondered.

"I guess you need to somehow be confident in your decisions again. I'm not sure if I can help because I don't know you that well. Perhaps one of your friends can help you," I advised.

"You might be right. Thank you, Felicia," Momo smiled.

"You're welcome. And Kendo," I looked at her.

"Yes?" Kendo asked.

"Maybe you can shout "gigantify" when you use your Quirk to make your hands large," I suggested.

"Why?" Kendo wondered.

"I thought it would be nice," I answered.

Suddenly, that had Kendo laughing, and then Momo joined in.

'I guess what I said was funny to them,' I thought.

"That's kind of funny, Felicia," Kendo said, in-between laughs.

Soon enough, I was laughing as well.

Eventually, the train reached the Tatooin Station, we got off, and went to our homes.

'I can't wait to tell Arisa what happened during the internship. Though since it's late, I'll just tell her tomorrow,' I thought while walking.

-My Hero Academia-

At the Emerald Shade, I immediately went to my room and put away my stuff. After I showered and changed into my pajamas, I was in my bed and ready to sleep.

Just before I could, my phone rang. I grabbed it off my night stand and checked to see it was Yuki calling.

'I wonder why he's calling,' I thought, answering my phone.

"Hello?" I started.

"Hello, Felicia," Yuki said.

"Hi, Yuki. How are you? Also, why are you calling?" I asked politely.

"I'm fine. I'm calling because I need your help," he responded in order.

"With what?" I was curious.

"When Hado and I arrived at the Tatooin Station, she asked me something that I didn't know how to answer. When I asked Hado what she meant, she laughed, said it was nothing, and left for her home," Yuki explained.

"What did she ask you?" I wondered.

"She asked if you and I are a couple, and if I am your boyfriend," he stated.

When I heard that, I felt embarrassed.

'Huh?' I thought, sitting up right away and feeling my cheeks heat up.

"So, why didn't you know how to answer her?" I questioned, shaking a bit.

"I don't know what "couple" and "boyfriend" mean," Yuki admitted. "Do you know what those words mean?"

I felt stumped and nervous at what I should say to him.

'What I do tell Yuki? I don't think I should tell him what those words mean. I don't feel that way about him. How do I avoid it?' I thought.

"Felicia?" Yuki said, which snapped me out of my thought.

"Oh, um, I do know what those words mean, but I don't think you need to know them," I nervously told him.

"Why not?" he asked.

"Because I think Hado was joking with you," I hastily reasoned.

"She was?" Yuki was unsure.

"Yes. She was trying to see how you would react to those questions. So there's no need for you to know what those words mean," I added.

'I hope Yuki believes me,' I thought.

"Okay. If you say so," he replied.

I felt my cheeks cool down as I said, "Well, I'll see you at school tomorrow, Yuki. Good night."

"Thank you, Felicia. Good night," Yuki ended the call.

I sighed in relief as I lied down in bed.

'I can't believe Hado asked Yuki if we're a couple and if he's my boyfriend. Since he couldn't answer her questions, that means he doesn't know what a relationship is. I'm sure she just asked because I'm his only female friend and we talk every now and then. The idea of Yuki and me together is...' I thought.

As soon as I started to think about it, I shook my head.

'No, Yuki and I are just friends. I'm sure he's focused on being a hero, and I'm focused on being a hero and an artist. Since Yuki doesn't know what a relationship is, there's no way he'll think of me that way. I'm sure he'll only think of me as a friend, just like I do,' I thought when I stopped shaking my head.

'Speaking of friends, perhaps I should call Cordelia and William to see how they are,' I thought while calling Cordelia and sitting up again.

"Hello?" Cordelia started.

"Hello, Cordelia," I greeted.

"Hello, Felicia," she greeted back to me.

"Hi, Felicia," I heard a familiar voice.

"William?" I questioned.

"Yes, it's me," he answered.

"I have you on speaker," Cordelia revealed. "We're on our way to school, and I thought you would want to talk to the both of us."

"Actually, I do," I admitted. "How are you both doing?"

"We're fine," Cordelia replied.

"How about you?" William asked.

"I'm fine. I finished my internship," I told them.

"How was it?" Cordelia questioned.

"Who did you pick?" William inquired.

"The internship was good. I picked the Snake Hero Uwabami. I was with the some other UA High students, Momo Yaoyorozu and Itsuka Kendo. We mostly followed Uwabami to her photo shoots and interviews, but we did a little patrolling with her near the end. Also, we were in her commercial for hair spray," I explained.

"Well, that sounds pretty good," William commented.

"I agree. Also, it would be interesting to see you in the commercial if it airs on tv," Cordelia commented.

"Thanks you two. I take it as a learning experience," I smiled.

"So who are your friends at UA High?" William questioned.

"Well, I have a lot of friends. One of them is Arisa Kawasaki, she's an exchange student from Los Angeles, California. The others are Usagi, Miru, Makoto, Junko, Yuki, Eli, and Kai," I listed.

"Blimey! You have a lot of friends there," Cordelia was shocked.

"I guess they all took a real liking to you," William added.

"You can say that," I replied.

"Oh. We have to go now. We're almost at the school. Cheerio Felicia," Cordelia said.

"Ta ta, Felicia," William said.

"Cheerio, friends," I ended the call.

'It was nice to talk to them after a while. I think I should give my parents a quick call before I sleep,' I thought while calling my mother.

"Hello, Felicia," my mom greeted.

"Hello, mother," I greeted back.

"Hello, sweetie," I heard my father say.

"Father?" I asked.

"Yes. Your mother has you on speaker while we're on our way to work," my father explained.

"That's nice. I just wanted to tell you that my internship is finished," I told them.

"How was it?" my mother asked.

"Who did you pick?" my father questioned.

"I chose the Snake Hero Uwabami. The internship with her was good. The other interns and I mostly followed her to her photo shoots and interviews. Though we did a little patrolling in-between. Also, we were in her commercial for hair spray," I revealed.

"That sounds pretty good," my mother commented.

"I think it's nice that you were in a commercial, sweetie," my father said.

"It would be nice to see it sometime," my mother added.

"Imagine if seeing Felicia in the commercial can somehow get us more business," my father joked.

"Hahahahaha," I laughed right away, and so did my parents.

Once we stopped laughing, my mother questioned, "Felicia, have you made friends at UA High?"

"Yes, I have," I answered. "I've made friends with my female classmates Arisa, Usagi, Miru, Makoto, and Junko. As well as some of my male classmates Yuki, Eli, and Kai."

"That's brilliant to hear," my mother commented.

"It's quite smashing to know you have friends there," my father commented.

"Thank you. Well, it's getting late here. So I should be heading to bed now," I tried to end the conversation.

"Alright then. Take care, Felicia," my mother said.

"Farewell, sweetie," my father said.

"Cheerio," I ended the call, putting my phone on the nightstand and lying down in bed again.

'I'm glad I got to tell my friends and parents about my internship and friends. I wonder how everyone else's internships went. I guess I'll find out tomorrow at school,' I thought as I drifted to sleep.
