Status in the Civil war (I.e. the Marvel civil war thing): Neutral, as a shinobi i followed the Hokage's orders despite who i was going up against. The Civil war had some adverse effects on the minor Shinobi nations like the Hidden rain and Hidden Grass but never disrupted the 5 great nations.

Hanzo bore searing hate for BOTH sides of the civil war and wanted to march upon them and rain hell down on both sides for causing disruptions within the Hidden Rain.

Luckily, Konohagakure and Kirigakure were able to place Amegakure back on track with aid and money. Needless to say, Hanzo stepped down and cancelled his war-plans, however, he made it clear to both nations...the Mist and the Leaf, that should something like this occur again...Amegakure will unleash hell upon America.

Hanzo even secured an assurance from Iwagakure and its' Tsuchikage, Ohnoki, for assistance in this invasion. However, Iwa managed to quell the effects of it and convinced Hanzo to retreat if a gesture of peace was proposed.

Kumogakure also made it clear that it had no intentions to stop Hanzo should another event happen, BUT, he also said that wouldn't help.

Saunagakure was also neutral as was Konoha...America did not know of the existence of the Great shinobi nations, and it shall remain that way. Shinobi sent abroad to such places are usually ANBU level or higher and it's usually for intell gathering.

But then...it happened, a civilian from the Hidden rain was captured by Iron-man, who accused the man of spying for the opposite side of the civil-war and was detained.

Hanzo was enraged and declared war upon S.H.I.E.L.D and Iron-man, things only got worse when the poor Civilian died. Hanzo, being infuriated, poisioned the drinking water of thousands of people in America, regardless of status...be they S.H.I.E.L.D personnel to common civilian.

The result was a catastrophic disaster, as over 100,000 people lost their lives almost instantly that day...one of those people happened to be Amanda Armstrong, Tony stark's biological mother.

Thus a new war began...and the Shinobi world was dragged into it. Iwagakure and the Hidden Rain under Hanzo fought S.H.I.E.L.D and Iron-man's team of heroes for days on end, such heroes like Mr Fantastic and Yellow jacket lost their lives to Hanzo's poisonous blade...however, She-Hulk was lucky and survived a lethal dose of it.

Tons upons tons of S.H.I.E.L.D agents and Shinobi died before the American government stepped in with a proposal of peace...and...in compliance with the Tsuchikage's promise that he'd made...Hanzo complied and supplied and antidote.

However, the damage had been done...and Tony Stark hated shinobi from that point forward. He saw them as a bigger threat than Captain America and his anti-registration team.

Hanzo also despised Stark, a rich man who's greed and ego would fill an entire nation...he despised those types of men. Easy to say that the peace agreement beween these two individuals was...tense, at best

Had the Tsuchikage not been there as well...conflict would've arose again.
