Omnipotent X - It's all good. My attention also isn't the greatest. Yeah, the Spirits are just cruel, but that's the drawback of having one of the most powerful abilities in fiction. Luckily, Momo is there for him.
Class 1-A was nervous. They did their hardest to stay calm, but if left unchecked, panic would ensue. Everyone was on the edge of their seats with only one thing in mind.
The Hero Provisional License Exam was in two short days.
The exam that would determine their readiness to become professional heroes and heroines drew near. Class 1-A could not be any more uncertain.
"Stop shaking!" well, except Bakugo, "You extras are driving me crazier than usual! Especially you, Deku; stop rambling!"
"S-Sorry, Kacchan," the freckled-face holder of One for All shrunk in his seat, "But our exams are in two days. I can't help but be nervous."
"Yeah, dude. Give us some of your confidence," Kaminari pleaded. Like Midoriya, nerves surged high amongst the students.
"This is our big moment, Bakubro," Kirishima flashed his chompers.
"How about you grow a pair?" Bakugo raged.
Before Iida could exert his presidential powers, the door opened, and walked in was Aizawa with his usual sleepy face.
"Let's get down to business," his mere presence silenced the class, "I know your license exams are closing in, but that doesn't mean you need to lose your minds. Against my better judgment and Vlad King's insistence, I'm willing to give you guys a break since it's only two days from now."
No one dared to cheer. A gift horse from their teacher was strapped with an ultimatum. Inside, multiple shouts of happiness exploded within their subconscious.
"Because of that, I asked some second-year students to come in and give you their experience with the exams. You might recognize them."
This got the class intrigued. Despite having over a thousand students at U.A., they have yet to interact with any of their seniors aside from Kyoya.
'This will give me a few more minutes to nap.'
"Come in," announced Eraserhead.
The door opened once more, and four students entered the classroom. The first, only recognized by Momo, was Tsubaki Tachibana, the bespectacled beauty that interrogated the vice-president to evaluate her relationship with Kyoya. Her mature presence and aura had Mineta and Kaminari drooling at the sight of her.
The second and third students were foreign yet only recognized by Jirou, the music lover. She let out a loud gasp as her eyes sparkled with excitement. There was a guy who also wore glasses, with short, chestnut-brown hair styled in Caesar-cut and emerald-green eyes. To his left was a twin, a young man who shared the same face and colored eyes. His hair was shoulder-length, framing the side of his face with his bangs more side-swept. If not for the hair and glasses on the first twin, it would be hard to tell the two apart.
Lastly, the student everyone recognized, Kyoya, stepped into the room with his trusty whiteboard in hand.
"Hey guys!" it read.
"Long time no see, Kitty. Miss me?"
The way his voice tickled Momo's brain made her smile, happy to finally see her teddy bear after their prolonged separation.
She waved back under her desk.
"They took the exams last year, so their advice will be the most helpful. Learn what you can from them," Eraserhead said, turning to the older students, "You have the floor," he encased himself in his sleeping bag cocoon and slumped against the wall.
"Thank you, sensei." Taking the reigns was Tsubaki.
"Hello, Class 1-A, it's nice to meet you all," she greeted with a small curtsey, "My name is Tsubaki Tachibana, class representative of 2-A. Allow me to introduce my entourage. To my left, we have-."
"Shino and Shin Kaoru, bassist and drummer of the boy band, Siren's Vanity," Jiro couldn't contain her giddiness. In an uncharacteristic surge of fangirlism, Jiro stifled a squeal.
The one in glasses, Shino, gave the violet-haired student a gentle smile.
"It's always nice to meet a fan."
"Ahem," Tsubaki cleared her throat and fixed Jiro with the coldest stare, rendering the rockstar a little mouse afraid of the lioness's glare, "As I was saying before being rudely interrupted, yes, this is Shino and Shin Kaoru, two of four brothers. They are quadruplets, but the other two were unavailable. Lastly, everyone should be familiar with Kyoya."
The psychic waved enthusiastically to the class.
Next up was Shino, whose raised hand grabbed everyone's attention.
"I would like to state that your exams will not consist of the same tests we went through. The mission of the license exam is to constantly mix things up to avoid any preparations. Your tests will differ from ours, but we should be able to at least give you an insight," he turned to Kyoya and nodded. Kyoya nodded back and began drawing on his whiteboard with tremendous speed. After finishing he presented a diagram split into three sections.
"The exams are separated into three phases. We'll refer to them as the Knockout Phase, Preliminary Phase, and the Hero Phase."
Midoriya, Momo, Iida were the only ones taking notes while the rest listened with rapt attention.
"The Knockout Phase," continued Tachibana, "Consists of a test to weed out the competition. Keep in mind that there will be over a thousand examinees. Not everyone will be allowed to participate in the subsequent phases. Now, our test was the ball throw you do for your Quirk Apprehensive Test. From previous records, it's a core test that gets more and more strict."
At this, Midoriya raised his hand, which was acknowledged by the spectacled beauty.
"Yes?"
"Compared to your scores when you first took that apprehensive test, what range did you need to fall within to pass?"
Tachibana tapped her chin as she wracked her brain. "At the time, I think about eight hundred meters. Maybe a little less. I can't recall what my score was. My quirk isn't exactly one for strength."
"Eight-fifty," spoken the quiet Shin. The class forgot he was there.
Shino averted his head, "Eight hundred and ten meters."
Erasing his diagram and fervently writing, Kyoya grinned as he proudly displayed his score.
"Nine hundred and eighty-four meters," it read.
"WHAT?!"
"NANI?!"
"Sacre bleu!"
"That's so manly!"
"I use Psychokinesis differently than you may expect."
"It was an astounding display," said Tachibana. "If we may continue. Our next discussion is the preliminary phase. It will," her lesson was halted again. This time, the quiet Shin placed a hand on her shoulder and shook his head to prevent the secret from being spilled.
"You sure?" She asked back, to which the supposed drummer nodded.
"Don't get ambushed," was all he said, and now the students were wondering what exactly he meant. They looked to Kyoya for any hints, but the mute simply repeated the phrase on his whiteboard.
"Couldn't agree more," concurred Shino.
"Okay, the boys have spoken. Don't let your guards down, whatever you do. That's all we'll say," Tsubaki surmised.
'They're right. We can't give them all the details.'
"Can you at least explain what you did for your preliminaries?" Sato raised his hand.
"Obstacle course," the brothers mirrored, a tiny hint of a smile glossing over Shin's face.
"Ugh," Tsubaki scoffed, "I hated that one."
"Same."
"Wait," Momo raised her hand, "I remember reading an article about last year's exam. It mentioned a group of students set a new record for the fastest completion time. Was that?"
Shin held up two fingers while Shino held up four.
"Second place."
"Fourth place with a one-second gap. Our brothers took first and third respectively," Shino had a reminiscent gaze on his countenance.
"Incredible," gaped Iida, "Does that mean your quirk is speed-based like mine?"
"Our quirk is different," Shino replied.
"Hardly used ours," added Shin.
"The only time we used our quirk was during the Hero Phase, which brings us to our next phase and the last deciding factor in whether or not you qualify as heroes," to which Shino finished.
"Do not lose focus," spoke the whiteboard.
"Once the final participants are chosen, you're given a random event and must perform some hero duties," chimed in Tsubaki, "The more efficiently you perform, the more points you earn, but while I'm saying that, don't focus on just trying to score points. The most important factor the judges are looking for is how well you perform."
"So, what was your mission?" asked Kaminari, "Did it involve robots because I'm tired of that?"
"No," replied Shino, "Our goal was to evacuate civilians from a collapsing building. We had thirty minutes to get as many people as we could to safety, and every five minutes, a bomb would go off."
"How did you do it?" Tokoyami inquired next.
"We had a plan," said Tsubaki, "A well-thought-out one. We divided up into teams. One group would search for people on the bottom floors, who were in the best condition to be moved. The second group would go to the upper floors and search for people who were in worse condition. The third group was in charge of guarding people to make sure nothing else happened to them."
"Things were going according to plan," Shino took over again, "We were on the same page, we knew our roles, and we knew our jobs, but it's important to be adaptable to any situation. The building we were evacuating grew too unstable and started falling apart, but civilians were still inside. Luckily," he gestured to a glowing Kyoya, "We had a psychic."
"For ten minutes, I was holding up a thirty-ton building."
"THIRTY TONS?!" Momo's voice rang out above everyone else's. It took every fiber of her being to stay seated.
"That's so manly!"
"My brain nearly exploded from too much stress. I had a splitting headache for several days."
Momo pressed her fingertips together and lowered her head slightly. Luckily, her musings were drawn out by Midoriya's famous ramblings about the weight of Kyoya's endeavor.
"I know what you're thinking." Momo lifted her gaze. "It did put me out of commission for a while, but I'm better now. It won't happen again."
Momo nodded, accepting the response.
"Good," she mouthed.
"Let's talk about you though. Do you remember the reward I promised if you pass the license exam?"
After mentioning it, the psychic showed a mischievous smile.
Momo could only bob her head.
'A reward that's potentially better than his head pats; I must experience it for myself."
"I will still keep my promise, but only if you hold up yours. I have complete faith in you."
With encouragement like that, there was no way Momo would allow herself to fail. Her path to heroine rode on her performance.
"Give it all you got, guys! We'll be rooting for you!"
"Do we get head pats if we pass?" Mina shot her hand up.
Kyoya turned serious.
"Do you still do that?" Shino inquired.
"Yes, it motivates my juniors to perform better."
"I thought that was just for patients."
"Nope. My pats are legendary, but everybody gets one. One pat a day keeps the demons away," he turned to Class 1-A, "All of you must pass the exam. No exceptions."
Even Momo was given a certain look that made her jaw drop.
"I can't believe you extras are trying so hard for a damn pat on the head," Bakugo sneered.
"You read the whiteboard. They are a famous reward, Bakugo," Mina retorted. "You wouldn't understand. Getting the affection of an upperclassman is great."
"Yeah, okay," he scoffed, "If I wanted to be coddled, I can just see Auntie."
"It is a nice gesture," Midoriya commented.
"Nobody asked you, Deku!" Bakugo snapped. "The only reason you know that is because you've been in his care more than anyone in here!"
"Alright, let's not get too off-topic," Aizawa intervened while still snug in his cocoon. "Do you guys have anything left to say to your juniors?"
"I think we've said everything," Tsubaki replied. "Boys?"
"I'm good."
"Same here."
Shin remained quiet but made no gestures. He stepped forward and looked over the class. His gaze hardened, a sort of silent anger darkening on his face as he pointed at two individuals, Bakugo and Todoroki.
"What? Got something to say?" The angry Pomeranian straightened up.
Shin lowered his head.
"Good luck," he turned and left the room.
"Thanks for having us," Shino bowed and followed his brother.
"I expect good results," Tsubaki stated, fixing her glasses, and leaving the room.
"Show em who's boss!" Kyoya revealed his razor-sharp teeth. "Go beyond!"
"PLUS ULTRA!" Midoriya and friends shot up.
Kyoya threw a fist in the air and walked out with his juniors feeling more motivated.
'Another job well done, Kyoya.'
"Is the whole head pat thing for real?" Shino inquired. "I've seen you give head pats, but I've never seen anyone so happy to get one."
"Watch this."
Walking through the hall, an unsuspecting Kendo from 1-B had her day illuminated from Kyoya's encouraging tussle of her head, igniting a flame within her soul.
"Thank you, Shuzenji-senpai!"
Kyoya's smile said everything.
"What.. just happened?" Shino cleaned his glasses. He was positive a fiery aura erupted around the younger student as she frolicked to her destination.
"The power Venus and her lovely caress was bestowed upon me. Beware my powers."
