Chapter 8 (Queen Hiromi Exposed! Nagisa's Revelation Part 1)
"Nagisa!" Karma called out as he searched for me in the mansion. He panted a bit as he was running through the hallways to ask Rio about my whereabouts. The blondine was outside taking care of the flowers, since it was already Spring and looking forward to planting flowers with Kaede. "Huh?" The green haired girl turned her head to see her Master and friend out of breath. "Hey, whoooaa, halt right there, man! What's wrong?" Rio asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Where's Nagisa?" The redhead asked in a rushed tone, "my stupid Dad brought in that bastard and scared Nagisa away, did you guys see where he went?"
"Oh no... " Kaede thought before gasping, "I think I saw him run into the library, you should look there." Karma as soon as the girl told him that, he bolted back into the mansion to make his way into the library. He was about to call my name again when he heard sobbing. Karma looked behind the shelves full with books, I was all the way in the back corner, crying and panting heavily and the redhead cautiously approached me and kneeled. "Nagisa…?"
A gasp escaped from me as I jumped in surprise, but kind of relaxed as soon as I saw that it was him. "I'm sorry… I… I couldn't face them… That…" I couldn't speak from sobbing. Karma wanted to hold me close, but he was sure that I would flinch away from that kind of contact, even a small touch was agony for me. Karma as soon as he saw me covering my eyes with both hands, he noticed a ring. The same ring that Kaede saw when treating my wounds yesterday.
~Flashback Time: Festival.~
The same flashback about a festival going on during our childhood, I was in the festival along with the King and Queen. I usually stayed away from mom and watched her behavior, which was fake in the eyes of the King and myself. The same ring was given to me by my Dad during the Queen's speech and invitation to my birthday the next day. Karma and his butler noticed this, but the behavior of the Queen was off, as if it was delusional, calling me by a female instead of a male which bothered the redhead a bit.
~End of Flashback.~
"Hey, uhh, Nagisa?" Karma started, "can I ask about something? ...You do seem to stand out, though. I wondered… where are you from, exactly?" Karma was curious and needed to confirm something. That question kinda caught me off guard. It was then I shuddered and started crying my eyes out. "Don't be afraid… I'm just curious and want to know, alright?" He assured me while remaining kneeled beside me.
"Sh…" I stuttered but something else popped up, "She did this! She's the one who…! Ahhh!" I shouted while I clutched my head. Karma was confused for a moment, raising an eyebrow. "What? She? Who, Nagisa? Please, tell me who it is."
"The Queen! My mother!" I finally blurted out, much to the shock of the redhead. The flashback did show me as the "Princess" the woman mentioned, and all this time… the guy that he rescued, was the Prince all along. "N-Nagisa… Why…? Why didn't you tell me sooner? ...Tonight's the festival, let me tell you what we're going to do, okay? Listen to me very carefully." Karma started to then angrily narrow his eyes, "that sorry excuse for a Queen… I'm sure she will attend the festival tonight. You and I, will unmask her in front of all these people."
"Wh-What?" I gasped in shock for a moment before shaking my head, "N-No! No, don't get involved in this, she-!" I exclaimed but Karma hushed me. "I am already involved in this, Nagisa. Everyone that's dealing with this infernal slave trading crap is. That shit needs to be shut down and these sadists must be arrested and must pay for what they've done, even if it kills me."
Hours later in the afternoon, Karma had let me go outside for some fresh air, also Isogai was there for me, watching me in case something serious happened. Oh hell, it did. The Queen had come to the Akabane mansion, 'secretly' to discuss a construction project in the palace, and had been pleasantly surprised at just how cheap the price would be. She was walking back towards her guards and carriage when she passed by my view, not even glancing in my direction, until...
"You...!" I gasped and teared up, shuddering. "Y-you shall be executed!" I was angry and crying as I ran in front of her to block her way. Isogai saw something was terribly wrong, and started alerting Karma hurriedly as he rushed inside the mansion, while Hiromi stopped in her tracks and looked down at me. Her eyes widened in surprise for just a moment, before her gaze turned icy cold. "Who in blazes let their pet off its leash? ...This thing should be kept away from civilized eyes." She blurted out coldly as she rested a hand on her hip a bit.
"Excuse me, this "pet" right here is YOUR son! The one you let get kidnapped and left for dead. And you don't fool me, you're evil and all you care about is your damned reputation as a Queen more than your own child! I'll make sure everyone knows what you've done!"
One guard blinked, that commanding young voice, he recognized it. "Prince...?"
Hiromi gave me a cold look, glaring daggers at him and speaking to the guard next to her. "Ignore this little imposter, guard. Ever since my son's tragic death, these pretenders have been coming out of the woodwork trying to earn a reward in exchange for not causing a scandal." This heartless monster had clearly thought through an excuse in case I was ever discovered. She smiled humorlessly down at me. "This wretch is obviously a pleasure slave that tried to model himself after my poor late child. It's lucky I didn't throw it in a dungeon for the insolence."
Something was off... The guards weren't sure if they should believe the Queen, or me. "Oh, I'm an imposter now, huh?! Then you're a delusional liar! You want proof it's me?! Here!" As I backed off, I showed the sapphire ring MY dad gave me for a moment, to then hide it. "Is that enough?!"
The guards stared at the ring in shock, then looked at their Queen, whose face was turning bright red. Karma came sprinting around the corner to me, stopping directly between me and her as Hiromi hissed at her guards. "If any of you breathe a word of this to ANYONE, your heads will decorate my front lawn before the end of the day! This imposter is trying to ruin me!" Karma stared at Hiromi with eyes that promised he could get to her before the guards could stop him. "I'm sorry, Your Grace, I think it's time for you to go." He spoke with a dangerous calm tone in his voice, and for once he wasn't smirking.
"Karma.. it's her... She's the cause... Tell them the truth, mother! ...Or should I even call you that?" I then yelled as I glared angrily with tears inside my eyes. Karma glared right into Hiromi's eyes like he could see into her soul and spoke in that same deadly voice. "My family has plenty of resources. If I find out he's right, I will make sure no amount of guards can protect you." The Queen's face was beet red at this point, and she shook with rage as she all but shouted. "If you DARE take this slave's word over mine, I will have you and your entire family executed!" She turned to leave, and Karma's fists clenched. It looked like he was on the edge of attacking royalty right in front of her guards. The guard gave me a worried look and frowned before turning and leaving with the Queen. Once they were safely out of earshot, Karma glanced at me and blinked, "You ready for tonight…?"
"...Yes." I nodded as I wiped some tears away from my eyes. "I can't… I can't let her get away with this…"
