So many years ago I rented Don Bluth's Thumbelina from Hollywood Video because I saw a fansite for it on the Animation Website Clear Black Lines and from the start it was clearly an attempt by Bluth to imitate Disney and its 'Princess Formula' before his more successful attempt with 1997's Anastasia but anyway Thumbelina's speech she gives during her darkest hour about how this was no world for 'little people' always struck me as I asked 'Is it really though?' here Belladonna gives the opposite argument how hard it is to be giant particularly when deep inside you have the personality of a little mouse.

Upon returning to the village the first thing Don realized was he couldn't even get in the cabin! Belladonna may have been long but her serpentine body was also slender and was able to coil up to fit in small spaces, Don being a turtle had a bulky inflexible shell, that meant he could only get his head and neck past the doorframe, his shell prevented the rest of his body from getting through!

He could only sit outside in the Village Square, the Village Humanimals, mostly Tropical Rain Forest Humanimals of various kinds (And not all Native to Central/South America) and of course many Domestic Humanimals as per usual realizing what a LARGE issue they had on their hands, began preparing something to feed the giant Turtle.

They got the largest cauldron they had and placed it in the center of the village square, and then they began making a soup, consisting of a thin broth and vegetables, shellfish and spices, it certainly smelled delicious to Don but already he had the feeling it wouldn't be very filling, at his current size the largest cauldron they had could have served as a slightly larger than average coffee mug,

Don ate his meal after the rest of his companions had gone to bed, Don ate his meal sitting on a large log that had been brought out to serve as a chair for him.

Then, the door to the Fellowship's cabin opened, Belladonna stuck her head out, she felt sorry for Don realizing he was in this predicament all because he wished to be the right size to dance with her, so she decided he would night spend the night alone.

"Hey." Belladonna said softly

"Hey." Don replied as he put down the cauldron he had been drinking from like a mug.

"How was your meal?" Belladonna asked

"The soup was good…" Don sighed "…But I barely feel full…"

Belladonna sat down next to her beloved, "Yeah…" She said "…Be ready to feel like nothing is ever enough."

Belladonna sighed and as she rested her chin on her hands.

"So many times…" She said "…When I eat at a restaurant…I walk away hungry because the restaurant doesn't have a dragon sized portions…And I refuse to do what Tiamat would do…Go to an all-you-can-eat buffet announce I'm pregnant to scare all the customers away and the Buffet to let her eat them out of house and home for free…"

(Many creatures fear when a Dragon is pregnant because it believed the worst of dragon rampages in Medieval Times were pregnant dragons with cravings)

"It's disgusting!" Belladonna said "You're not really that ravenous, you're just letting the reputation get you an entire buffet of free food!"

Don was a little stunned and not sure what to say.

Belladonna sighed again, during my days on Nuthanger Farm…" Belladonna said "…On rainy days the farmers would bring out the Television and let us watch whatever movies or tapes that could be found from the ruins of Hollywood to keep us quiet…One of those movies was an animated version of Thumbelina…And at one point she's giving this speech to this bird about how this is no world for little people…And back then when I was a cub I was the same size as my Herd Siblings, but then I grew…And I think back and I feel it's so much harder to be a giant in a world made for smaller people, if you're small at least you can hide…But for someone like me…I always stand out even though I'm really shy and want to hide."

Think I'll leave there on that note, next chapter things really get jumping!
