So if you know anything about Wind in the Willows you'll know the title chapter is taken from 'Piper at the Gates of Dawn' which Pink Floyd took for the title of one of their albums, The Wind and the Willows connections will make even more sense later but for now, I'll tell you about the inspiration for this plot, while it is true in the 80s TMNT Cartoon 80s Rat King was able to control rats with a flute as an homage to the Pied Piper that's really only incidental the primary inspirations for this story was the Sailor Moon Super S Movie 'Black Dream Hole' which was also inspired by The Pied Piper of Hamlin with mysterious aliens kidnapping Earth's children luring them out of their beds with flute music and also an episode of Kyrpto the Superdog where Catwoman's Cat Isis had gotten hold of the Pied Piper's Flute and how it worked was to control a certain kind of animal you had to play a song associated with that animal so to control mice you played 'Three Blind Mice' and to control Turkeys you played 'Turkey in the Straw' (It's a cartoon for little kids what do you expect?) For Humanimals who come from all different species but who share a culture the song played is inspired by the song Zen0Aku a villain of Power Rangers Wild Force played to summon his Dark Wild Zords, to know what I'm talking about just put 'Dark Wild Zords' into YouTube's search engine
As the night went on and Don and Belladonna watched the last dying embers of the fire, they were both tired but neither wanted to go to sleep just yet knowing they would have to sleep on the ground.
Since they were in a Central American Rain Forest in the middle of June they didn't have to worry at all about being cold, if anything the hot humidity might prevent them from being able to sleep, the air was warm and muggy and mingled with the scents of the jungle, there was of course the sweetness of tropical fruits and flowers, but there was also the stink primarily from the rich fertile soil that the trees grew so well in…But to a Reptile like Don, this was still all rather comforting, the rich earthy smell, was not entirely unpleasant because on some deep primal level he recognized it as the smell of home…As a red eared slider whose natural habitat was the wetlands…
But just as Don was beginning to nod off, that's when it happened, something else floated through the jungle air, a sound…The distinct sound of…Flute music! The tune wasn't anything Don recognized but Belladonna seemed to instantly recognize it, she lifted her head and her ears perked up.
"What is it?" Don asked quietly "What is that music?"
But then Belladonna's eyes seemed to glaze over "I've got to go…" She said in a hypnotized voice "…He's calling…"
"What?!" Don exclaimed
Belladonna began to stand up and said again "I've got to go….He's calling…"
"Wait!" Don said as he grabbed her arm and began to pull her back "Who is it?! Who's calling?!"
Belladonna answered back with an animalistic snarl, Don was shocked but he did not let go of her arm.
Meanwhile across the village all the native Humanimals, and the Fellowship Humanimals who had come on this trip also heard the music, they were roused from their sleep if they had been sleeping and sat up in their beds, they all had the same glazed eyes Belladonna had…
Belladonna in her hypnotized state tried to snap and Don's throat! But Don was able to grab her jaws with one enlarged hand and hold them shut!
Belladonna then tried to claw at Donatello, but because she was so much more slender then the enlarged Donatello, Don was able to…Suplex her…Not typical Ninja fighting style, but Don didn't want to actually hurt Belladonna, it was then that the Village Humanimals were coming out of their houses and began to stampede into the jungle, to follow the music…
Thinking quickly, Don pinned Belladonna against the ground, if he had been normal size he would never have been able to do this, if he had been normal size his Dragon Fiancé would have taken off like a 7/47 and at most all he could have done was grab onto her as she was taking off and hang on helplessly like the tail of a massive kite! But now things were different, trying take care not to put too much weight on her spine, Don clamped, his hands down over her ears, and all the other Humanimals ran past them into the dark jungle, Don could hear the pounding of hooves and the flapping of wings, both the feathery wings of birds and the leathery wings of bats, but at the moment all he could pay attention to was Belladonna making sure she didn't slip away.
After all the village Humanimals had vanished into the jungle, the flute music suddenly stopped and Belladonna returned to her senses.
"Donny?" She said initially dazed and confused but then it all came back to her what happened and what she did while she was under the influence…
"Oh Donny!" She exclaimed "I could have killed you!"
And that's it for this chapter think I'll save the conversation for next chapter
