The Supreme Intelligence / Torfa:
The duo walked up to the golden steps to the golden palace. Entering inside, they entered a golden chamber with a blue hexagon printed on the floor.
"Ladies first?" Yorgoth offered mockingly.
"Haha very funny," Vers sarcastically offered. "Why don't you go first? Wouldn't want you to miss the fun first,"
"Why don't you go first? I can wait,"
Vers smiled ironically. "As you wish," she stepped up onto the hexagon.
Yorgoth watched as it turned into water and streams of blue were crawling up her body and into her fingers and around her head as she closed her eyes. Her body then became silent, becoming frozen. Her consciousness was now communicating with Intelligence. He watched carefully at the scene wondering how her conversation with Kree's ruler was coming along.
He quite loved watching Vers in this state when he heard ringing from his wrist. He pressed the button. A hologram of Yon-Rogg appeared.
"See you decided to let the lady go first," he said amusingly.
"I just wanted to watch her stand completely still, bound by seeing Intelligence," he answered back. "What you calling for now rather that later?"
"I just wanted to inform you before Intelligence does that I have insisted that you and Vers join the team,"
"Finally," Yorgoth beamed.
"Don't get carried away," Yon-Rogg interrupted his joy. "You still have to follow my rules and only use your powers when and where I tell you,"
"Yes commander." Yorgoth noticed a change in his face. "What?"
"You truly growing into the soldier I trained you to be," he looked very proud.
"Well…I wouldn't quite be here where I am now without your support. So much of my past feels so blank. Why do I keep having these dreams?"
"In all honesty, I can't answer that. All I can offer is this advice. Let those dreams go and focus on the present,"
"That I will try,"
Yon-Rogg smiled approvingly again. "Good," he switched off.
As he waited for his turn, Yorgoth went into deep thought. He couldn't stop thinking about that proud smile his mentor had given him. It was proud. Too proud. He had this strange tingling feeling every time he pictured it. It was like he knew that he could meet his expectations.
"Drifting off to the dreamland again?!" Vers's voice tore through the silence.
He jumped.
Vers burst out into peals of laughter.
"Oh ha ha," Yorgoth sarcastically answered. "Very funny. How was your conversation?"
"Inspirational. Time for yours?"
"Once I'm finished, you're goanna give me all the details of how it went,"
"I will. Once you give me yours," Vers grinned.
Yorgoth just fake laughed and went to take his turn. He stood on the hexagon and lines of blue lined up his body and through his fingertips. He closed his eyes. Then felt a whoosh of his head. He opened them.
He was standing in a giant room with no walls. Only a watery ceiling and floor. The water floor started shifting and from the surface appeared a elderly woman with grey hair and green eyes, similar to his own.
"Yorgoth," the form of the Supreme Intelligence addressed.
"Intelligence."
"I take it Yon-Rogg told you that he's insisted that you and Vers are ready to serve,"
"He did," Yorgoth seemed to sound slightly unimpressed.
"I can sense that something is troubling you,"
"Why do you clip me and Vers with these chips? What's the point of having these powers if you and Yon-Rogg won't let us use them?"
Intelligence seemed offended. "You think I'm trying to hold you two back? However you two got these…it is no coincidence. You both need guidance. And guidance requires strict rules and limitations,"
"Well…I'm not quite prepared to wait that long,"
"Every second you contain those powers…the danger to your life increases. The Skrulls may yet hunt you and Vers down. And it is our duty as Kree and those we take in to protect one another,"
"Who is this person whose form you're taking? I don't remember this person," Yorgoth gestured to the Intelligence's form.
"Perhaps this is a form that is meant to spare you from a deeper pain,"
"Then why do I see flashes of it? I know I dreamt of this woman last night. She looked a bit younger though,"
"That I cannot answer. All of I offer is this advice. Try to block these dreams out,"
"That's similar to what my commander said,"
"Then he is a wise man who thinks so highly of you. I am proud that he insisted you and Vers would serve. But if you two are to do this, put aside your troubles for the wellbeing of others. Don't forget that what's given…can be taken,"
Yorgoth remembered the chip on his neck. He touched it. "I won't let you down,"
The Supreme Intelligence smiled. "Good,"
Yorgoth felt a whoosh inside his head, and he smacked his eyes shut, then opened them again. He was back inside the chamber room. He felt the blue water lines snaking down his legs and back into the hexagon.
"Enjoyed the talk?" Vers ironically asked.
"Yep," was his answer. He turned to her. "Now…you tell me how yours went first. Whose form did the Supreme Intelligence take when it spoke to you?"
"A man. A man with light hair. I have no recollection of him. What about yours? Please tell me it was a girl,"
"Oh it was no girl. It was a woman in a Kree suit. Couldn't recognise her. I know I've seen her before in one of my dreams…but she looked younger, more beautiful. Now let's go serve the Kree Vers,"
"Then we'd better get to headquarters,"
Taking a train, Vers and Yorgoth arrived at the great tower in the centre of the city. They entered the changing chambers and changed into Kree milatry uniforms which were grey and green with a silver star in the middle. Vers pulled her band out her hair and her golden locks swung down. She saw Yorgoth staring at her. "What?"
"Quite like the hair down more than up," Yorgoth complimented.
Vers just giggled a bit.
"Ah…" a voice invaded their conversation. "Never thought to see you two here,"
The duo turned to see four Kree soldiers armed with weapons marching into the room.
"Intelligence says that we are fit to serve," Vers smirked.
"Better not mess anything up," the only other female said. She had blue skin and she had long dark hair parted to the right.
"Who says we're goanna mess anything up?" Yorgoth smirked back. "Now…are we going on a mission or what?"
He and Vers rotated round and they led their new team members out of the rooms towards a great landing pay where a ship awaited them. They entered inside.
"This can't be good," a male blue Kree named Att-Lass said.
"Must be another Skrull attack," Korath, who carried two swords on his back, estimated.
"Whatever it is it's big," Bron-Charr clarifying.
"Has a Skrull ever simmed you?" Minn-Erva asked Korath.
"Once. It was deeply disturbing."
"Why?" asked Vers.
"Because I stared into the face of my mortal enemy and the face staring back was my own."
"Maybe if you were more attractive, then it would be less disturbing." Vers giggled.
Korath was not amused. "You think you're funny. I'm not laughing."
You never laugh." Att-Lass complained.
"I laugh, on the inside. I'm not doing it now."
"It's funny, because objectively speaking, you're quite handsome." Bron-Charr complimented.
"Well, thank you."
"Looks like someone knows how to make humour," Yorgoth whispered too loudly to Vers. They chuckled.
"Knock it off you two!" Yon-Rogg's voice approached them. "What did I tell you two about humour?"
"'It's a distraction,'" Yorgoth rolled his eyes as the team gathered in a circle. "Now time to prepare for a search and rescue mission," he activated a hologram from his gloves. It showed an image of a Kree who looked more human. "Our target is to rescue our spy, Soh-Larr. The Skrulls have invaded yet another border planet,"
An image of a planet appeared. "This time, Torfa. Soh-Larr sent us a warning. The signal was intercepted and his cover's blow," another image of another being appeared. It wasn't Kree. It was a green being with pointy ears like an elf. "The Skrull general Talos has sent kill units to find him. Should they reach him before we do, the intelligence he's acquired over three years is as good as theirs,"
The image of the planet appeared again three ships orbiting over the land. "The Accusers will bomb a Skrull stronghold here in the south. We slip in, we locate Soh-Larr and we get out, leaving them none the wiser," He showed a Torfu inhabitant this time. "The Torfu populace, we are not to interfere with them, nor them with us. Nothing compromises the security of our mission. Proceed with caution. Follow protocol before extracting him," The hologram disappeared completely. "This is a dangerous mission. We must all be ready to join the Collective if that is our fate today. For the good of all Kree!"
"For the good of all Kree!" everyone enchanted.
Yon-Rogg went to the front of the ship and he activated the engines. It took off in a flash into the sky. Looking out the side windows, Yorgoth saw three giant Kree warships following them.
"I take it that Ronan's having the pleasure of bombing while we're sneaking it," he assumed.
"Correct," their team leader nodded his head. "Now hang on. One jump's enough to make your stomach giddy,"
Yorgoth sat next to Vers and buckled his seatbelt. He braced himself. There was a moment of silence. Then there was a sudden shake, and they felt their heads spinning as the ship was rocketing at fast pace.
"Seriously we're going underwater?"
"What? Are you afraid of water?" Att-Lass mocked.
"No. I just don't like getting wet in uniforms,"
The whole team just burst out laughing including Vers much to Yorgoth's irritation.
"Brace yourselves!" Yon-Rogg warned.
Everyone hung on tight to their seat belts. Then the ship went whoosh again and the next thing they heard was splash. It was dark outside the windows. The ship slowed down, and everyone took a moment to catch their breaths. Seconds later there was a loud thud and the ship rattled slightly.
Yon-Rogg left the pilot seat. "It's time. Activate your masks," Pressing behind his neck, a mask activated of his head. A hologram barrier formed over his mouth and nose. Everyone pressed behind their necks and their masks activated too.
After activating his own, Yorgoth turned to Vers, and he saw that her short hair had been pushed up her head, so it looked like hair plumes poking out from the top. He giggled.
"Your hair looks funny,"
"Oh ha ha," Vers sarcastically.
Yorgoth stopped when he saw Yon-Rogg giving him a death stare. He silenced. Walking to the back of the ship, each team member stepped inside an ejection pod and laid down on their stomachs.
"Three, two," Yon-Rogg counted down. "One,"
Pressing a green button each, the team suddenly shot out of the ship like torpedoes. They went speeding through water with their masks glowing through the eyes. They began to drift up to the surface as the water became shallower. They lowered their feet to touch the sand and walk up to the sandy shores. They deactivated their masks and Yon-Rogg began to give them instructions.
"Vers, you track Soh-Larr. Yorgoth, you're with me. Att-Lass, Minn-Erva find elevation,"
The team stepped out of the water sneaking carefully up the dunes and into the fog. They took it at a slow pace whilst Minn-Erva managed to find elevation and look out for Skrulls with her gun loaded and ready. Seconds later, she called through her com. "Locals on the periphery. Maybe a dozen," she reported.
Yon-Rogg tried contacting her but the radio sounds were beginning to buffer.
"Do you read me? Does anybody copy?"
Vers stared down at a tracker on her wrist screen. "His beacon's coming form that temple. Let's move,"
"No," objected their leader. "This is a perfect spot for an ambush. Only one way in, only way out,"
"We can get past the locals," Bron-Charr suggested.
"We don't know if they are locals. Too risky,"
"Let me and Vers go ahead," Yorgoth suggested. "We can handle it,"
"No, you two won't," refused their leader again. "Here's what's goanna happen. We're goanna keep a close radius. We lose comms, we meet back at the Helion. Come on,"
Vers and Yorgoth followed their mentor whilst the others remained close. They crept further and further across the foggy land. The Torfa population kept noticing them but Korath kept ordering them to get back.
Vers and Yorgoth kept very close together. Yon-Rogg pointed his gun at the populance who were beginning to close in on them. "Get back. "Minn-Erva? Do you have eyes on this?" he activated one of his gauntlets. "Keep them back. Minn-Erva?"
Distancing himself away from Vers for a bit, Yorgoth stepped closer to his mentor. "Is it really necessary to threat the populace like this?
"You never know if they could be Skrulls. Keep back," Yon-Rogg kept going at them.
Behind their backs, Vers headed a bit into the cave where Soh-Larr was meant to be hiding. Having noticed, Yorgoth remained in close contact with her. "Any luck?"
"Nothing. Wait! I think I found him!"
"Speak your code name!"
"HGX 78," Vers spoke out loud.
"TRT79-VVX6," Soh-Larr's voice was heard.
"I got him,"
"Well done Vers," Yorgoth congratulated her. "You're not as wet as I thought,"
The locals kept shouting at the Kree team. No matter how much Yon-Rogg warned them to stay back, they wouldn't. One of them took out a purple and black gun. Yorgoth still near his mentor recognised that gun. A green blast from nearby killed the gun holder. Then another green blast shot killer multiple locals at once. The moment they died, their orange faces materialised into green faces with pointy ears.
"Skrulls!" Yon-Rogg shouted. They fought. He activated his gravity gauntlets and he lifted Skrulls up and down and then tossed them against walls. Yorgoth started shooting dozens with his fists. He even saved his mentor from one of those shape shifters who had a gun pointed at his head when he wasn't looking.
Yon-Rogg facially thanked him.
Fearing for his favourite partner, Yorgoth called through the com. "Vers! Do you copy?!" he shouted. There was no response. "I'm going in," he turned to go but Yon-Rogg grabbed his arm.
"No! You don't!"
"Vers could be in trouble!"
"I'm not losing you as well!"
"I don't care! No one gets left behind!"
"You are not to go in there!" Yon-Rogg spat gripping in his arm tighter. "That's an order! Don't make me activate that chip!"
His ward looked down to see a remote with a green light on the top. "Yeah?" he challenged. "Well I defy that order!" Before Yon-Rogg could react, he snatched a remote from his pocket and releasing energy from his wrists, he shot off like a rocket into the cave.
He crept slowly further in, raising his burning wrists. Vers wasn't around. He heard grunting echoing in his ears. He crept forward faster.
"You're too late," a voice spooked him. It was a Skrull.
Looking behind him, he saw Talos.
"Where is she?"
Talos just cackled a little, stepping forward again.
Yorgoth fired up his fist. "I will shoot you if you don't tell me where she is,"
"Quite a fiery tempered one you are," the Skrull general complimented. "Just like your mother,"
Yorgoth blinked. "My mother?"
Talos seemed to stare him. "You can't remember her?"
Yorgoth didn't know how to answer.
"Looks like that Kree has done more damage to you than you realise. You're coming as well,"
Before Yorgoth could react, he was suddenly stung in the back. He collapsed to the ground; the world turned dark.
By the time they had finished off the last of the Skrulls, Yon-Rogg and his team dashed into the caves searching for their missing teammates.
"Vers? Yorgoth?! Do any of your copy?"
"Commander," Korath spoke up.
Yon-Rogg turned to him. Korath was holding up his remote which Yorgoth had stolen from him so he wouldn't stop him from trying to rescue Vers. He took it.
"It was on the floor. And I saw footprints. The Skrulls took Vers and Yorgoth,"
Yon-Rogg growled in anger. "We track them down now. We cannot lose them. And I cannot lose him. Not like last time,"
