Skrulls on Planet Earth

Vers's eyes enlarged watching Yorgoth's pod explode into mid-air. "Yorgoth!"

She made her pod fly down threw the fog of debris. She saw a fire emitting from an area of land far far below. She dove down. She realised she was closing in on a large square shaped roof with a hole in it. She slowed down the pod and landed carefully on it. She exited it and ran to the hole.

"Yorgoth!" she called. "Are you down there?!" there was no answer.

She leapt down through the hole and landed on her feet. She stared around searching for her partner. Around her were wooden shelves with DVDS. Suddenly she saw a figure. It wasn't Yorgoth. She shot a blast at it. The head was severed off. But it was like paper. Not a real person. Just then she heard something clang behind her. She shot around and shot again.

"Hey! Watch where you aim!" Yorgoth cried out.

Spotting a light from his wrist consul, Vers saw his face light up.

"Glad to see you're alive partner,"

"Hey. Don't call me partner. It's Yorgoth blondie. Yor-goth,"

"And it's Vers to you…partner,"

Yorgoth just rolled his eyes playfully.

"You alright?"

"I actually landed on my fluffy bits," Yorgoth rubbed his buttocks.

"So your…"

"Don't say it," her partner interrupted feeling embarrassed. "Let's just get out of here," Yorgoth shot up through the hole with his blasting fists. Vers followed him. They boarded her pod. They tried to get it to fly up but to their distain, there was no energy left.

"So much for flying back to our team," Vers cursed gently.

"Great. Looks like we're stuck here," Yorgoth touched the consul on his wrist. "C53. Mmm…always wanted to come here,"

"Well, now you got your chance," Vers smiled.

"I was being sarcastic,"

"You have a poor way of showing it," Vers just laughed.

"Shut up Vers. Let's call our team and let them know where we are,"

"Vers to Starforce to command, can you hear me?" Vers called. There was no reply. "Hello can you hear me?"

Yorgoth tried but there was nothing. "Well looks like we'll need to see what we can find," he walked to the edge of the roof and leapt off onto the ground below. Vers followed him.

"Quite a strange place," they observed their surroundings walking forward. Yorgoth turned around to look at the building they had crashed through. There was a large title in yellow and blue stamped to the front. Blockbuster Video.

"Quite a strange building we crashed through," Yorgoth spoke. "Let's just go and find someone to get information about,"

"Here's someone," Vers pointed behind them to a car with a police officer. They walked forward and she knocked on the window.

The man inside just stared at them.

"Would you open it please?" Yorgoth's voice was slightly muffled. To his relief, the window slid down.

"Hi. We're from Starforce command. Is this C53" Vers asked.

The man didn't answer.

"C53?" she repeated.

Still no answer.

"I don't think he gets what we're saying," Yorgoth said. "I don't think he can hear us either," he whispered that part.

"I can hear you two. And yes I can understand you," the security officer retorted, offended by such words.

"Are you in charge of security in this district?"

"Yes,"

"Where can I find communications equipment?" Yorgoth stole Ver's next question much to her annoyance.

He pointed towards a building called radio shack.

Yorgoth smiled. "Thank you," they said together. They scooted over to the shop and Yorgoth spotted a box with the label: Telephone box. "This should be useful. Now come on. Those Skrulls might after us any second,"

"Let's get started then,"

They got to work. With wires and a special chip, they connected their consuls to some wires and the telephone box.

Meanwhile Skrulls at the nearby beach were walking out of the ocean. Talos leading them.

"Track the pod and find the girl and the boy,"

"Are we really risking our lives for them?" another one questioned.

"They are our only link to Lawson. They know more than we know. And I made Lawson a promise that I would protect her boy,"

Vers and Yorgoth finally got the job done and tried to contact their mentor.

"Come on," Vers spoke into the telephone.

"I swear if this doesn't work I'm goanna blast this make-a-call box to pieces," grumbled Yorgoth, impatiently waiting for a holographic image to appear above his consul device.

Just then Yorgoth's face appeared. "Verify: CTC39." he demanded.

"GRFC6300. And GRFC63001," Vers said.

"And we're fine, thank you for asking," Yorgoth asked sarcastically. "Is everyone okay? What happened?"

"Skrull ambush. I though we lost you two. I'm so glad you two are safe," his proud smile to both of them made Yorgoth tingle a bit in a weird way.

"Uh thank you?" he said awkwardly.

"Did you find Soh-Larr?"

"It wasn't Soh-Larr. Talos simmed him, even knew his code."

"That's impossible. That code was buried in his unconscious."

"The Skrulls messed with our heads The machine that they used, we think it's how they extracted Soh-Larr's code."

"Where are you two?"

"We're n planet C-53. Or what its inhabitants the Terran call Earth," Yorgoth said, speaking the planet's common name with a strange ascent.

"I don't like your ascent,"

"I'm just being funny,"

"Well, it's not funny,"

"The Skrulls are looking for someone named Lawson. But it's not just that," Yorgoth shared a strange glimpse with Vers which she interpreted as him feeling quite shocked. "He said something about her being my mother,"

A dark look seemed to form on Yorgoth's face.

"But that can't be true. I mean it's the Skull's right. They talk nonsense,"

"Exactly Yorgoth. Don't believe anything they say. They're just trying to get in your head.

"But she's who I see. When I talk to Intelligence,"

Vers could see that Yorgoth looked rather shaken so she continued for him. "She's a scientist. She's cracked the knowledge on light speed tech. We have to get to her before Talos or they'll be able to invade new galaxies,"

"Absolutely not. I've already lost you two,"

"But Yon-Rogg, we have to before…"

The call paused and an automatic voice said they had to pay.

"Damn it!" Vers smashed the phone against the telephone box.

"Stupid tech," Yorgoth cursed. "Well, we're not one to follow orders. Might as well as go after him,"]

"I couldn't agree with you more," Vers smiled. Her smile seemed to put Yorgoth off a bit. "What?" she playfully furrowed her eyebrows.

"You have this habit of saying that 'I'm going to finish the mission before you do' just by giving me that grin. Well I'd like to see it flash right back at you when I catch Talos first,"

"Come on Yorgoth, you think I like to turn everything into a game?"

"Yep. You always do,"

They turned around to start their serach when they saw cars pulling over at the parking area with wailing sirens. "And it looks we've got company," Vers said.

"Careful. It could be Talos,"

"I'll send out a homing beacon," Vers tapped her wrist com to send out a signal. "Let's just lay low. And blend in,"

"Excuse me mam and sir," a new voice approached them.

The duo turned around see a coloured chap with black shaven hair in a smart suit. "You guys know anything about a lady blowing a hole through the roof of that block buster shop over there?" he gestured to the shop. "And it seems like there's a pod on top of the roof. Witness said they were dressed for laser tag,"

"For your information sir, these…" Yorgoth was interrupted.

"They went that way," Vers pointed left, raising her eyebrows to tell her partner to play along. "Now if you will excuse us…"

She tried to pull Yorgoth away but the man blocked them.

"I'd like to ask you some questions," he lifted a card. "Maybe give you the 411 one the late-night drop box. Could I see some identification please?

"Vers and Yorgoth Starfoce. We don't carry out identification cards,"

"Vers? Yorgoth? Starforce? How long will you two be staying here?"

"Just until we get rid of the Skrulls who are infiltrating your planet," Yoroght answered.

"Skrulls?" the man frowned.

"Shapeshifters? They take the form of anyone they see, and they can even match their DNA,"

The man just blinked.

"You guys don't have any clue do you," Yorgoth said plainly.

"Nope not a clue. But let me say something. You guys look vaguely familiar. I feel like I've met you before,"

"Sorry sir. Not a clue," Vers shrugged.

"Okay. Moving on, how do we know you're not of those…" The man hesitated. "Skrull things,"

"Congratulations Nick Fury, you're asking a perfect question," Yorgoth said.

The man just laughed. "As much as I've enjoyed this conversation, you two are under arrest,"

The pair heard the clink of hand cuffs.

"Under arrest?" Vers asked. "For what?"

"Look out!" Yorgoth suddenly pushed Nick Fury to the side whilst Vers pushed his partner down. There was a blast that just missed them by an inch.

Looking up they saw a Skrull right on the building a yard away from them.

Vers shot a blast. She missed. The Skrull ran. "He's getting away!"

"After him! First one gets a daybreak!" Yorgoth turned the chase into a competition, instantly cheating by sprinting ahead.

"You are so on!" Vers dashed after him. Leaving the car park, they competitively pursued the Skrull towards a public area where there were more buildings.

Staring up, they managed to catch up to the Skrull who running up the escalator. Looking above Yorgoth saw there was a train.

"The train!"

Before he could even think of a way up, Vers started leaping up bars and floors to reach the top.

"That is so unfair!" he called.

"Hey! You're the one who turned this into a competition,"

Yorgoth just smug-smiled and blasted out energy from his hands and he shot like a rocket to the next level before Vers could reach the platform where the train which the Skrull had boarded was now moving away.

"Ha ha!" Yorgoth goaded before he jumped right onto the back of the train, Vers following him Vers punched the glass whilst Yorgoth looked down. He saw Nick pursuing them in a car below.

"Seems our new friend is pursuing us,"

They entered through the whole and started waddling down the carriages looking for the Skrull. He would be hiding in plain sight.

Everyone gawked at them. They continued walking along the carriages, finding no sign of them. Just then Vers started staring an old lady with shoulder cut hair.

"Didn't we see that woman before?" Yorgoth whispered.

The woman smiled.

Vers just frowned and punched her.

Everyone gasped. Just then the only lady frowned and started fighting them. Some people tried to pull them back, but they punched them. The lady got away, dropping a crystal in the process. They tried to reach her but the door separating her from them was closed. She smirked, turning into a man before leaping up through a hatch onto the roof. Vers followed. Yorgoth went next. When he poked his head out, Vers was flying over him. The Skrull in front of him had licked her back. He kept running to the front. He touched a metal park. The sparks burnt his hand, and he was setting flying back.

Still he kept running forward.

Yorgoth saw Vers raise her fists.

"Don't shoot the…"

Vers blasted the top of the tunnel.

"Tunnel," Yorgoth glared at her. "Nice work,"

Vers just shrugged and blasted a hole in the roof. tHey landed back.

Minutes later, the train stopped. They were at a station. They walked out.

"Now…can we please not draw attention to ourselves," he whispered, not wanting to start another fiasco. Once again Vers didn't listen to him and she grabbed the shoulder of a man who looked like the Skrull's new appearance. The man was scared and backed away.

"That's not him," Yorgoth said. "Where is he?"

They stared around but all they saw were masses of people. They had no idea where they were.

"We should get out of here," whispered Yorgoth before pulling Vers away down the stairs to a spacial spot not too far from the station.

"This should give us some clues," Vers held up the purple chip and placed it in her consul for it to scan. As it did, images flashed. There was a flying horse symbol with Wendy Lawson. Pegasus labelled next to it. Then various other images which the pair couldn't point out. The final image showed a title: Pancho's Bar.

The chip's power ran out and they tossed it to the floor. It was useless.

"Seems our next stop is Pancho's Bar," Vers said.

"Well, where are we going to find it?" Yorgoth asked.

"Do I look like a GPS to you?" his partner teasingly questioned back. "Let's go find us a map,"

Together they walked up to the lower areas of town. Eventually they found an Internet Café which to their luck was free. Typing Pancho's bar on a computer they found directions. Then they unraveled a huge map which they held up together outside in front of the sun.

"Okay. So quite a long way from here. Goanna need a way to get here,"

"Well it's not like Earth has ships," Yorgoth said.

"Hey nice scuba scuit," a motorcyclist who pulled up right there them complimented.

"These are not scuba suits. They're field suits," Vers corrected.

"Oh looks like the lady in the laser suit wants to be flirty," the man joked back.

"Stop flirting with her," Yorgoth warned.

The motorcyclist just scoffed. "Freak," he grumbled.

Yorgoth frowned. Before he could move, Vers grabbed his wrist.

"Yorgoth, be cool," she hissed.

Yorgoth managed to calm down as he heatedly watched the man walk away. He eyed the motorcycle.

"I say we get to Pacho's Bar on that rolling ship," he pointed to the tyres. He then eyed some strange clothes on display on white models. "And let's dress into something casual. Look like normal people on this planet,"

"I get dibs on the one with the brown jacket," Vers spoke up pointing to the fourth model along the row outside the shop.

Quickly they stole some clothes from the models and dressed up.

Yorgoth mounted the motorcycle before Vers could. "Slow poke," he joked.

Vers just huffed and sat behind him, hooking his waist.

Yorgoth quite enjoyed it.

Vers got annoyed. "I don't care how much you might like it, can you drive this thing?"

"Just give me a second," Yorgoth tried starting the engines. He tried once. IT didn't move. He tried again. Still nothing. Vers sighed.

Before she could tell Yorgoth to swap places with her, he suddenly made the motorbike pull backwards and then direct it forwards out onto the road.

"I can't believe I can drive on one of these," he breathed out, surprised with his strange new skill.

"Looks like we'll get our answers once we find out who this Wendy Lawson is," Vers said. "I have to admit. I'm impressed Yorgoth,"

Yorgoth couldn't help but feel his cheeks blush hearing her say that.
