Stop Breaking My Nose

Valentine's Day

Kara's first Valentine's Day with Lena, and she was so excited. She wanted it to be perfect. Because she deserved it, for dealing with all of Kara's situations . Who else could say they had their own hospital room?

Kara shivered at the thought. She did not want to remember the last time she ended up in the hospital. (She forgot she didn't have her powers for just a second and put her hand into a blender. Let's say Kara will never do that again, powers or not.)

Kara shoved her hands into her pocket, pulling out the bills. She grinned at the salesmen and handed him the money needed to take the flowers home. She thanked the man and started to walk home, when she heard someone scream for help.

Unable to ignore it, Kara rushed into an alley and placed the flowers behind a pile of boxes and ran to help.

It was a purse robbery and someone tried to shoot her, but as usual, Kara was able to put a stop to it quickly and returned to her flowers.

Kara inspected the flowers, and decided they were great. She was about to fly, before realizing that her speed would kill the flowers. She decided to walk to L-Corp to surprise her girlfriend.

Kara was about to head to her girlfriend, when someone else screamed for help. For the first time in a long time, Kara cursed her powers. She hid the flowers a second time and flew off to help.

After four rescues, Kara returned to her flowers, only to find them dying. Kara frowned, staring at them. She hadn't been gone that long. Kara sighed, holding the flowers close and flying off.

When Kara reached home, she put the flowers in water and waited and waited. She looked at her watch and saw that the day was going by. Kara looked at the flowers, before walking to it and gently blowing on them.

But while doing so, her phone started to ring, distracting her for just a second. But that was all she took, and soon, Kara was standing in front of frozen flowers.

Kara let out a sigh, deciding to change her gift. She quickly rushed out of her apartment, and searched for another gift.

Chocolates!

-SG-

Lena was exhausted, but she wanted to surprise Kara with flowers. She rode the elevator to Kara's floor. She walked to the door and knocked. She waited, which was unusual, because Kara always opened within seconds. But this time, she had to wait.

Lena grabbed her phone and called her girlfriend, but she heard the phone inside the apartment. Worried, Lena knocked a second time. She banged against the door, knowing that Kara was in there. (She was not .)

Lena then called Alex, but the other woman didn't answer. (She was having her own Valentine's Day celebration.)

Leaning against the wall, Lena had to just wait. (And get Kara's key in case something like this happened again.)

-SG-

Kara sighed, placing the flowers down. Finally the flowers made it to the apartment safely. She reached for her pocket to call Lena, before noticing her phone wasn't in her pocket. Kara felt her heart skip a beat. She squinted her eyes and searched the apartment. But when her x-ray passed the front door, Kara noticed a body on the other side. Her eyes widened when she realized who it was.

Using her speed, she opened the door and found Lena asleep in the hallway. She knelt down and touched Lena's shoulder.

"Hey," Kara whispered, smiling softly.

With a groan, Lena opened her eyes. She blinked, before sitting up. Kara just grinned at her.

"Hey, how long have you been here?"

"What time is it?"

Kara looked at her watch. "Five."

"An hour," Lena responded, pushing herself up. Kara helped her and led her into the house. Inside, Kara noticed the mess inside. The frozen flowers had finally defrosted. There were dead flowers everywhere, and boxes of chocolates.

"What happened here?" Lena asked, turning to look at Kara.

The Kryptonian blushed. She looked at the mess, before looking at the flowers that had made it, only to see that they died when she used her speed.

"I-I wanted to get you flowers. But they kept dying," Kara said, pouting.

"And the chocolates?" Lena questioned, looking at the fourteen boxes of Sees chocolates.

Kara looked at them before answering. "I got hungry."

Lena let out a laugh. She raised the flowers, but they were squished as well. Kara smiled, taking them. "I can put them with the other ones."

Lena smiled, moving to sit on the couch. Once Kara put the flowers away, she sat on the couch and smiled at her girlfriend. "Happy Valentine's Day," Kara whispered, staring at the other woman.

Lena moved closer. "Why aren't we celebrating?" Lena whispered, giving Kara a flirty smile.

Before any woman knew it, they were making out on the couch. Kara was laying under Lena, their lips moving in sync. Kara quickly got lost in the kiss. Kara pulled Lena close.

"Help! "

Kara tuned in to the cry for help. Before she knew it, she was pushing Lena off. The CEO fell off the couch and her head slammed against the table next to the couch.

Kara's eyes widened, and she looked at her girlfriend. "I am so sorry! I heard someone asking for help, and after the day I just had, I just reacted. I'm sorry!"

Lena waved her off. "Go help the person."

Kara looked conflicted, but flew out of her apartment.

-SG-

Lena put her phone down when she heard Kara land. She turned and smiled. Kara moved back to Lena. But when they leaned in for a kiss, Lena felt a sharp pain on her face. She stumbled backwards and grabbed her face. She already felt liquid coating her palms.

"Damn it Kara!" Lena exclaimed, her voice muffled.

Kara just stood there, frozen.

Lena glared. "Hospital!"

Within seconds, the Kryptonian grabbed Lena and quickly got to the hospital, but also made sure she wasn't seen using her powers.

Lena was going to put Kara in the dog house.

Lena's Birthday

Lena had told Kara she didn't want to make her birthday a big deal. And Kara, being Kara, didn't listen. She wanted Lena to have the best birthday she could ever have. Kara got a three tier cake.

Kara inspected the cake, and nodded with approval. She looked at her watch, to see that Lena was still at work. The Kryptonian looked at the place to see that everything was decorated. Kara contemplated inviting everyone else, but decided against it.

Kara turned around and headed to work. She had spent her lunch preparing for Lena's small surprise. She knew time was going to go slow.

"It's Lena's birthday?" Nia asked, looking at the CEO's office.

Kara nodded. "Yeah. I already decorated it for our celebration tonight."

Nia smirked. "You're going to celebrate ?"

"Don't be crude," Kara muttered, making sure Lena wasn't paying attention to her. (And she wasn't. She was on the phone, speaking to investors for L-Corp.

Nia just wiggled her eyebrows.

"Don't you have an article to write?"

"Finished it. But tell me more about how you're going to celebrate tonight? I hope you use protection."

"Nia!"

The younger reporter laughed. "I mean, red sun lights. Can't have you break Lena's arm again."

Kara glared at her and walked back to her desk. Nia crackled, getting looks from their coworkers. Lena looked out of her office, and Kara just gave her a smile.

-SG-

Lena was nervous. She was very nervous. She had told Kara she didn't want to make a big deal out of her birthday. And Kara had a tendency to think big was small, party wise. And Lena could see where she was coming from. Kara just wanted to make her happy.

But just knowing Kara was in her life made her happy. So happy. The happiest she had ever been.

Lena shoved her key into the lock and it, unsure of what she was going to find. She walked into her apartment and saw nothing. No decorations, no mess, nothing. Lena let out a breath, thinking she was safe. She was so safe.

"Kara?" Lena called out, putting her bag on the counter. She dropped her keys next to it and took off her jacket.

"Bedroom!" Kara exclaimed, and Lena walked to the bedroom, finding it bare as well. Kara was standing on the bed, luckily without shoes. God knows how many times she would forget to take them off.

"I half expected this place to be decorated with birthday supplies," Lena commented, walking to her girlfriend and giving her a gentle kiss.

"It was. I came here for my lunch to decorate. But then I started thinking and I knew you wouldn't want that. So I took it all down. It's all stuffed in the closet." Lena looked at it to see the decoration on the closet floor. (They had put a curtain in place for a door, not wanting a repeat of Kara's claustrophobia.) "But the cake is in the bathroom, and I want to eat it."

Lena smiled fondly, putting her hand on Kara's cheek. "I love you."

"I love you too. Always. Happy birthday," Kara whispered, pressing her lips against Lena's.

The green eyed woman just beamed. "Let's go eat some cake."

It was all Kara needed. In a flash, she was gone. Lena rolled her eyes and followed Kara. Her eyes widened when she saw the size of the cake, but knew that Kara would finish it. As the two ate the cake, Lena decided to question her girlfriend.

"What were you doing on the bed?" Lena asked, before shoving a fork full of cake into her mouth.

Kara chewed before answering. "I was talking to Nia, and I want to celebrate with you, And she reminded me of the last time. So I decided to put in those special light bulbs."

Lena just laughed. She finished her slice of cake and watched as Kara devoured what she could. "You are so attractive," Lena said in a teasing manner, but also stating the truth. Kara was sitting in front of her, mouth filled with cake, her cheeks puffed out, frosting on her lips and chin.

Kara tried to smile as best she could, but Lena just wiped her face clean. "I'm going to change."

Kara nodded, as she continued to eat. Lena gave her girlfriend a kiss on the cheek before heading to the bedroom.

-SG-

Kara finished the cake on her plate and went to her bedroom. She could see the red light from under the door. With a grin, she pushed the door open.

And there went Kara and Lena's night.

Unbeknownst to Kara, Lena was standing behind the door.

Unbeknownst to Kara, Lena was facing the door.

"Damn it Kara! Not again!" Lena exclaimed, her nose gushing out blood.

Kara stared at her girlfriend, her eyes wide. "I am so sorry!"

Lena just glared at her. "I would have preferred a surprise party."

Kara gave her a small smile, before getting some ice and towels for Lena's nose.

"You could have done this any other day, why today?"

"I blame Nia."

Kara's Earth Birthday

"So we celebrate like it's a normal birthday?" Lena asked, looking at the Kryptonian for answers.

Kara nodded. "I can't believe it's been eighteen years."

"I'm sorry we weren't able to celebrate last year," Lena whispered, thinking of everything they had the deal with.

Kara shrugged. "I got to spend some day with you. It makes up for it."

"I'm really glad your parents sent you here," Lena said, smiling softly.

Kara just beamed. She pulled Lena closer and snuggled towards her. "I love you."

"I love you too."

Before Kara could give her girlfriend a kiss, her bedroom door burst open. Kara laughed as her niece mimicked her speed and jumped onto the bed.

"Aunt Kara! Mom said it's your birthday!" Esme exclaimed, grinning. "Sh-she said you are eighteen? I thought you were older."

Lena let out a laugh. She shook her head. She watched as Kara shot her niece a glare, but Esme just laughed. She wrapped her arms around Kara's neck and pressed her face against Kara's head.

Lena smiled and decided to leave the two alone, knowing that Kara loved spending any time she could with her niece.

It had been a few weeks since Kelly and Alex started fostering Esme, but everyone knew the two were going to adopt her. Lena walked to her living room, to see Kelly and Alex already setting up cupcakes and balloons.

"You sent in the distraction?" Lena asked in a teasing voice.

Alex shot Lena a smirk. The CEO just laughed, before walking to Kelly to help.

It wasn't long before Kara skipped out of the bedroom with Esme on her back. Kara stopped, and the grin on her face grew.

"Happy Earth birthday!" Kelly and Alex exclaimed, grinning widely.

Esme looked at Kara with a small frown. "What's Earth birthday?"

Kara placed the little girl on the counter and smiled softly. "I wasn't born on Earth like you were. My home, Krypton, it," Kara blinked her tears away. "It's not here anymore. And my parents, they sent me to Earth to save me. Time was different there, so Alex's parents didn't know when my actual birthday was. So they decided that my birthday would be on the day I arrived on Earth. So it's my Earth birthday."

"Do I get a special birthday?" Esme asked, looking at her foster mothers.

Kelly took a step forward and placed her hand on her daughter's knee. "You get your birthday and we'll celebrate your adoption day in the future."

Esme looked pleased, while Kara looked at her girlfriend.

Lena walked to her girlfriend and wrapped her arms around her.

"Your father would be proud of who you became," Lena whispered, kissing Kara's cheek.

The Kryptonian smiled softly. "We should visit my mother someday. Or have her visit us. I'd really like for her to meet you, as my girlfriend."

"I'd love that."

-SG-

"Happy birthday to you!" the Super Friends finished singing. Kara smiled as she looked at the cake. She inhaled deeply, and was about to let it out, when Alex stopped her.

"Hey! Softly! We don't need a repeat of last time," Alex said, laughing.

The Kryptonian shot her sister a glare.

"What happened last time?" Nia asked, her eyes filled with excitement.

The Super Friends all turned to Alex with joy.

"Freeze breath. Let's say, I couldn't feel my face for a while," Alex responded, causing Nia to start to crackle. Kara glared at her, but turned to her cake.

She inhaled and was ready to blow, when Nia shouted "Boo!"

Kara wasn't expecting, and froze the cake. She turned to Nia with a small glare.

"Why?"

Nia smirked. "Should be fun."

Esme pouted. "No cake?"

Everyone turned to Nia, who looked flustered. "I, well, Kara froze it!"

"Because of you!" Kara complained, grabbing the cake. She tapped it, and it was pure ice.

Brainy appeared, with a second cake in his hand. "I knew there was an eighty percent chance another cake would be needed. And I made sure this one was ice cream flavor."

"Thank you Brainy," Kelly said, giving the Coluan a tap on the shoulder. Brainy beamed and placed the cake down.

Nia gave Kara a wink, before taking a step back. The candle blowing went smoother the second time.

Esme cheered at getting a piece of cake.

"This day is going great, isn't it?" Kara asked, looking at J'onn. "Nothing ruined, or hurt."

J'onn smiled. "It is. What happened last time?"

Kara shook her head. "I am not allowed to talk about it. I'm still being punished for it."

The father-figure laughed, before getting a little serious. "I am so proud of you. You have helped make all our lives better."

Kara looked at him, giving the man a small smile.

The blond smiled when she saw Lena grab Esme's hands and started to dance with her.

"Go, join them."

Kara gave him a smile and rushed to her girlfriend. She picked Esme up and swung her around while the girl squealed. Lena just watched with pure adoration in her eyes.

-SG-

"Esme wanted you to have this," Alex said, showing Kara the piñata in her hand.

Kara beamed, excited to have one. "No one ever gave me one. Can I break it now?"

The Super Friends all looked nervous about it. "Maybe outdoors? That way we are safer?"

Kara nodded, eager. And soon, the Super Friends found a place to break the piñata, and away from prying eyes. Everyone moved to hide behind trees, but peeked out to see Kara inspect the stick in her hand. J'onn and Brainy, who were the safest to be with Kara, placed lead glasses on Kara's face and wrapped her eyes with a piece of cloth.

"Go!" Alex said, holding her daughter close. And Kara started to swing the stick around.

Unable to see, she tried to listen, but the glasses kept her hearing at bay.

Kara swung the stick and it flew out of her hand.

"Fuck!"

"Language!"

"Oh my god!"

Kara yanked the cloth off and turned, to see Lena holding her face. Her eyes widened, as she stepped forward.

"Damn it Kara!"

"I am so sorry!" Kara exclaimed, her eyes wide and filled with tears. Alex and Nia were helping to stop the bleeding to see how bad it was. "Lena?"

"No!" Lena said, signaling for Kara to step back. "Stop breaking my nose!"

"I'm sorry!"

"It's really broken," Alex said, "this is going to hurt."

Lena closed her eyes. "Do it."

Alex nodded. She gently touched Lena's nose and snapped it back. Lena let out a cry of pain, and Kara flinched.

"I'm really sorry," Kara whispered, her eyes on her girlfriend.

Lena shot Kara a glare, before being led away. Kara frowned, watching as Lena walked away with Alex.

Nia walked back to Kara and pat her back. "Hey, at least Lena can get a free nose job."

Bonus Chapter

Kara and Lena had been dating for two years now. And they were happy. The happiest they've been. Kara thought she knew love, but then she realized her love for Lena and nothing had ever gotten close. And Lena didn't know what love was until she received Kara's.

Lena had gotten a ring for Kara, but she hadn't given it to her. She hadn't asked the question, but she knew the time had come. Lena wanted to ask the question.

But before she could do that, she had to retrieve the ring and talk to a few people.

While Kara was off on Earth 1, helping the other teams, when Lena was able to get J'onn and Alex. She sat them down, and J'onn had a knowing smile.

"What's this about Luthor?" Alex asked, a small smile on her face.

Lena bit her lip, thinking of what she was going to say. "I-I love Kara. I love her with everything I have," Lena started, and a knowing smile appeared on Alex's face. She looked at Kara's sister and father-figure. She gave them a smile. "I want to ask Kara to be my wife. I want to spend the rest of our lives together. Start a family with her. Knowing that I have her on my side for the rest of my life. And you are two of the most important people in her life. I want you to know, get your blessing."

Alex stared at Lena, and the younger woman felt nervous. "You have my blessing. I have never seen Kara so in love with someone. There is no one that would make Kara happy. I am glad she has you. And I would be so happy to have you as my sister."

Lena smiled, before looking at J'onn. The older man gave her a smile and reached into her pocket. He pulled out the ring and gave it to Lena.

The younger woman took it and smiled. She looked up at J'onn.

"I have seen you grow as a wonderful young woman. And I have seen your relationship with Kara blossom. It has had it's up and downs. But the two of you have kept finding each other. And I would be happy to see the two of you take the next step. Alex and Kara have been my daughters these last few years, and it be my honor to have you be another daughter to me," J'onn said, giving Lena a grin

Lena opened the box and looked at the ring. Alex squealed and wrapped her arms around Lena. "We're going to be sisters!"

-SG-

Kara talked into Lena's office at L-Corp. A few months prior, Lena had taken a step back from CatCo, her attention needed in L-Corp. But Lena had texted her, saying she wanted Kara to visit her.

Kara smiled at Jess, who looked like she knew something. Kara frowned, but walked into Lena's office. Her frown instantly turned into a grin. "Hey!"

Lena looked up and grinned, but there was a nervous energy around her. "How was Earth one?"

Kara shrugged. "It was fine. I mean, I solar flared, but nothing too big. I didn't turn into a puppy or child this time."

The brunette let out a laugh. She stood and hugged her girlfriend, before leading her to the couch.

"So what's going on?" Kara asked, after a few seconds of silence.

Lena looked at her hands, but then turned to Kara. "I, I wanted to talk to you about something."

Kara raised an eyebrow.

Lena reached into her pocket and pulled out a small lead box, but Kara couldn't even see what was inside if it wasn't. She blinked, a small frown on her face. Before she realized what boxes that small mean.

Lena smiled when she saw the realization hit Kara. The human looked Kara in the eye. She opened the box. "I love you Kara. I love you so much. And every second I spent with you just strengthens my love for you. I knew you were the person I wanted to love for the rest of my life. I knew from the second we first kissed those years ago. You are the person who brought me the most joy. When I see Alex, Kelly and Esme, I think of how I want that with you. I want to have a family with you. I want to be yours, and I want you to be mine."

"I'm already yours. From the moment I met you. From the moment I stepped into his place," Kara responded, tears in her eyes.

"It's why I wanted to do it here. It's where we first met. It's the place my life changed forever," Lena whispered, before raising up the ring. "So Kara Zor-El Danvers, will you marry me?"

Kara nodded, "Yes, always yes."

Lena beamed as she placed the ring on Kara's finger. Both women looked at the ring, heads bent downward.

Lena quickly looked upward, and her head connected with Kara's face.

The Kryptonian felt a sharp pain on her face. Her eyes automatically filled with more tears, as she frowned.

Lena cried out when her head connected with Kara's face. She looked up, and her eyes widened. "Oh my god!"

Kara, still stunned, didn't realize why her face hurt so much. It wasn't until Lena pressed the napkins on Kara's face that the blond realized what had just happened.

"Did you just break my nose?"

Lena looked at Kara for just a second.

"Payback hurts, doesn't it?"
