Oh God, It's Hereditary
Everyone stood around, looking at the Kryptonian in front of them. It had been an hour since the Kryptonian revealed she knew about chat, that she had been reading everything they had sent since they all started.
"So you've been watching our chat for the last two years?" Alex asked, staring at her little sister.
Kara smirked, looking at her phone. "Yeah, when you created it. I'm glad my misery brought you all joy."
"How did you keep it a secret?" Nia questioned, looking nervous.
"I wanted to see what you guys said," Kara responded, getting her phone out. Lena watched as she opened the texting app. "Imagine if it cut her fingers got cut off? How would Supergirl save the world? I wonder if it's too late to return her. I have bad new, or good news but Kara has solar flared. Human Kara brings us joy. And my favorite, Kara lost her fingers, did you get pictures?"
"I am so sorry!" Nia pleaded, getting a smirk from Lena.
"You're lucky I don't have powers right now."
"Thank your god," Nia muttered, leaning back. Brainy wrapped his arm around her shoulder and kissed the side of her head. Nia smiled as she leaned into it.
"Anyways, who wants dinner? I think I have this down," Kara said, turning around. Lena could hear Kara moving around in the kitchen.
Kelly smiled softly. "I guess that backfired on most of you."
"By most, you mean Alex and Nia," J'onn commented, looking pleased with the outcome.
"Lena," Kara called out, her face pale, as she walked to the living room. Her hands were covering her stomach.
"Yes?"
"I, we need to go to the hospital," Kara said, moving her hands to show Lena what happened.
No one said anything, no one moved. They just stared at Kara, who had a knife sticking out of her stomach.
"How does that happen?"
-SG-
"Please?" Kara pleaded, looking at Lena with wide eyes.
The haired woman sighed. "We don't have the space for one."
"We can move. We can afford it! And I will feed it and train it. Please?" Kara gave Lena the puppy eyes, and her wife gave in.
"Fine, we can get a dog."
Kara fist pumped in joy, only to trip on her own feet and hit the ground, face first.
"Should have trained you first."
Kara just smiled fondly.
-SG-
Lena and Kara walked in the building. Lena could see how excited Kara got from the barks coming from the cages. Lena followed after Kara, watching as the blond scanned every animal, giving each her full attention.
The dark harried women just watched, fondly, as Kara searched for the one pet that she felt most connected with.
"Found him," Kara said, two hours into the shop. Lena looked away from the black kitten she was looking at. The younger woman gave the kitten a smile and promised to return, before walking towards her wife. "Look," Kara said, pointing to the small, golden retriever.
"It looks like you, when you were one," Lena teased, watching as the puppy chased his own tail.
Kara shot her a look. "Ha, ha."
The puppy laid in it's crate and rested it's head on his paw. He looked up at Lena with his bright blue eyes.
"He's cute," Lena said, smiling softly. "He's the one you choose?"
"He chose me," Kara said, her eyes on the puppy.
Meow!
Lena and Kara looked back to the kitten Lena was looking at earlier. It was clawing at the cage, trying to escape and go to Lena.
"I think someone chose you too," Kara commented, looking at Lena.
The green eyed woman looked nervous. She turned to Kara, "I know we said just a puppy-"
"No, if you want it, we should take it home. I think it'll be perfect for you."
Lena bit her lip, before nodding.
And that is how Krypto (named after Kara's former home) and Kelpie (named from a story Lena's birth mother used to read to her) joined their family.
-SG-
"Lena," the CEO heard her wife call. Lena looked up from the couch, the tablet in her hands. Krypto was laying on the couch with her, his head on her lap. He always kept Lena company when the woman was working.
Kara was standing in front of Lena, her arms scratched up from Kelpie's sharp nails. Lena sighed, placing her tablet to her side. Kelpie let out a small meow as her mother passed by. Lena gave the kitten a small pat, before turning to Kara.
"What did I say about playing with Kelpie?"
"She has toys to play with, it's not a good thing for me to use my hands," Kara said, her voice sounding annoyed. Lena let out a laugh, looking at the cuts.
"We don't want them to be infected."
Kara let out a whine.
But Kelpie wasn't the only one to injure Kara.
The biggest one happened a day Lena and Kara were taking Krypto out on his daily walk. The two enjoyed their strolls around the neighborhood.
"I was thinking we can go to the bakery and get Krypto some treats," Kara suggested, looking at her wife. Lena gave Kara's hand a squeeze. "Yeah, we can do that."
Kara smiled, but just as they reached the stairs. Krypto caught a scent. He pulled, and Kara was propelled forward.
"Not again!" Kara exclaimed, as she fell down the stairs. "Lena!"
"Yeah, I'm already calling."
-SG-
A few months after adopting Krypto and Kelpie, Kara took Lena to the fortress. "What are we doing here?"
"There is something I want to run by with you," Kara responded, the two walking through the fortress. Kara stopped in front of an incubator of some sorts. She looked at Lena, smiling softly. "Do you remember me telling you about how I was born?"
Lena nodded. "A matrix?"
Kara nodded. "So I found a broken matrix. And I think we can work on fixing it, so we can have a child, one that is half me and half you."
Lena stared at the matrix, before turning to look at Kara. She turned to her girlfriend, and Kara placed her hands on Lena's waist. "I would love to have a child with you."
Kara smiled softly, and the two shared a kiss. "And we can do the act all we want. To make it real," Kara whispered, her own hand running through Lena's hair. The slighter shorter girl leaned into the touch. "We're going to have a child."
Lena gave Kara another kiss. "We are going to have a child."
-SG-
It took a few months, but Kara and Lena were able to get the matrix working. Once they placed their DNA in the machine, they just had to wait. For the following nine months, Lena and Kara would visit the matrix, and talk to their child. They spoke about names, before choosing one that they were both happy with.
When the baby was ready to come out of the Matrix, Kara and Lena stood there, waiting. When it opened, Kara and Lena were quick to pick up their child, wrapping her with a small blanket they brought. The baby started to cry, but Lena and Kara just stared at her with pure love in their eyes.
Lena, who was holding the child, was rocking the little girl, and it seemed to sooth her.
"We did it," Kara whispered, her hand touching the dark wispy hair on top of her daughter's head. "You are ours."
The youngest member of their family let out a whimper, and Lena pulled the baby closer. When the new Danvers-Luthor member fell asleep, Kara pulled Lena close, and as carefully as she could, she flew them home. (Lena and Kara used their bodies to protect the child from the wind and momentum.)
When they arrived home, they found their family and friends waiting (Lillian included).
Lena was sitting on the couch, their child in her arms. Alex, Esme and Nia were quick to look at the baby.
"Have you chosen a name?" Kelly asked, smiling fondly.
Kara and Lena looked at each other, and Kara looked at the group. "Elizabeth Alura Danvers-Luthor."
Lillian sat down next to Lena. "Your mother would be so proud of the person you become. Of the family you made."
Lena smiled softly, her eyes on the baby in her arms. "Want to hold your granddaughter?"
Lillian grabbed the girl and an honest smile on her face. Lena and Kara exchanged smiles.
That night, after everyone else had left, Kara and Lena brought out the, as Kara called them, other children. Krypto and Kelpie walked to the new baby and looked at her. Krypto sniffed her, while Kelpie just stared, before the golden retriever gave the baby a small lick, and Kelpie started to purr.
-SG-
Alex held her niece, smiling while Krypto laid at her feet. The dog wouldn't let the baby leave his sights, and Kelpie was always around, watching. At the moment, he was on the refrigerator, watching Alex and Lizzie.
"She's beautiful," Alex said, holding the baby close.
Kara smiled. "She is, She looks so much like Lena."
"I can see you in her. She's going to be a beautiful girl when she grows up. And she'll be so smart, I can see her graduating college at seven."
Kara laughed. "She has Lena's brain. She'll have seven PhDs by the time she is eighteen."
"I'm really happy for you. For the life you've chosen. You are going to be a wonderful mother."
Kara smiled softly. "I had two wonderful mothers, and I gotta watch you be one. I have a lot of people to look up to."
Alex wrapped her arms around Kara, but Lizzie let out a cry. Kara took her baby and rocked her back to sleep, while Alex watched with a soft smile on her face.
-SG-
Lena and Kara watched their daughter grow over the months. Being half Kryptonian, and being the daughter of Lena, Lizzie said her first word at five months. (Lena and Kara argued on who "mama" was aimed at. Lena won.)
She took her first crawl at six months, and her first step at seven months.
And that was the beginning of the end for the mothers.
Lena and Kara were pacing in the doctor's office, waiting while the doctor checked their daughter's head. Lizzie had walked straight into a wall and hadn't stopped crying since. Lena and Kara took her straight to "Room Kara" in the hospital.
"She's going to be okay," the doctor told the parents, who let out a sigh. The doctor turned to look at Kara, a smirk on his face. "Knowing her mother, I would say keep a special eye on this little one."
Kara blushed, and Lena glared at her wife. "Please tell me it's not."
-SG-
Lizzie was pulling at the table cloth, not knowing a knife was on it. She giggled, as she pulled the cloth. Kelpie was asleep on the couch, and Krypto had gone to call Kara about the danger that was going to happen.
Kara walked into the kitchen just as the knife tipped over the edge. Kara's eyes widened, as she rushed to her daughter, slapping the knife away. But there was too much momentum, and Kara was going to fall on her daughter, so she turned, only to hit her head on the corner of the table.
Kara lost a minute, because she opened her eyes and Lizzie's blue eyes were staring back at her.
"'tay?" the little girl asked, giving Kara's cheek a small slap.
"Gotta baby proof this place," Kara muttered, trying to decide if she should move.
"Owie," Lizzie said, poking at the wound on her mother's head.
Kara hissed in pain, gently pushing her daughter away. "God, is this how everyone else felt when they were babysitting? I am sending thank you letters."
Lizzie giggled, walking over to the fallen knife. Kara's eyes widened and she pushed herself up.
By the time Lena arrived, Kara had a mild concussion, a cut palm, and a sprained ankle. Lena just let out a sigh.
-SG-
Lena stared at two year old Lizzie, who was pouting up at her mother. Her knee was scratched up, and Kara was scratching the back of her head.
"Hurts," Lizzie whispered, and her tears streamed down her face.
Kara picked up her daughter, and Lizzie whimpered. And Kara rocked her daughter, while Lena looked over her daughter's knee.
"Your genes are causing this," Lena muttered, pressing the Neosporin ointment on the small wound. (Lena had started to carry them around after beginning to date Kara.)
"Let's hope it doesn't get any worse."
-SG-
On her birthday, Lena and Kara threw a huge birthday party for their daughter. They invited their friends from Earth 1. Oliver and Felicity brought their daughter, Mia and son, William. Barry and Iris brought in baby Nora, and Clark and Lois had baby twins Jonathan and Jordan. (And Esme was there as well.)
Lizzie drank up the attention. Clark and Lois were cooing after the little girl. Lois was excited to spoil her niece, because she needed a girl in her life. Clark just rolled his eyes, ready to help Kara teach Lizzie, Jordan and Jonathan the Kryptonian history. Kelly, Nia and Lena were setting up the tables, while Kara and Barry used their speed to put up the decorations on the trees.
When everything was ready, Ava, Felicity, and Iris handed Lena a glass of wine and dragged her off. Jordan and Jonathan, both five, were gushing over their baby (two years younger) cousin. Mia, also three, and Nora, two, were in their father's arms. Esme, 10, was hanging out with William, who was explaining the life of being a superhero's child.
The kids all ran off, leaving the adults alone. And Lizzie had the biggest smile on her face, happy to play with kids her own age.
They were in a park. Kara, Oliver, Barry and Sara were all watching the children, the mother with narrow eyes. She watched as her daughter played in a sandbox with the other toddlers.
"She's adorable," Barry commented, a smile on his face.
"I like how we all had girls," Oliver responded, a smirk on his face.
Sara snorted. "I love being the wine aunt."
"Our kids are going to continue our legacies," Kara told them, just as Lizzie got on the play structure with Mia.
Kara sat up straighter, as the two three year olds got on the slide, and Mia went down first. Looking at Oliver, she saw that he didn't react. But then it was Lizzie's turn.
And somehow
SOMEHOW
W
Lizzie fell off the side of the slide and hit the ground.
Kara used her speed to get to her daughter, and the other kids looked at her in awe, but Kara only cared about her daughter. Lena ran to her, pure worry in her voice.
Lizzie was crying, and Kara rocked her.
"She fell off the side," Lena said, while the other guests watched. Oliver rushed to his daughter, who looked scared at seeing Lizzie crying.
Oliver looked at the little girl, then up at Kara. And said the one thing everyone was thing. "Oh god, it's hereditary."
"I am not babysitting!" Barry exclaimed, shaking his head.
"Yeah, Gideon isn't going to let her on the ship."
"I have my own kid to watch, and I don't want to die."
Mia looked at her father. "You're gonna die?"
"If Lena wants it," Oliver said, shooting the woman a look.
Lizzie had stopped crying, but was having her sniffles.
"Don't kill my Daddy," Mia told Lena, giving her a pout.
"I won't," Lena said, giving the girl a smile. Lena turned to her daughter, and Kara handed her off, before helping her wife stand up.
"I wish you the best of luck," Oliver said, his voice and face serious.
Lena sighed. "They are going to be the end of me."
"If you need anything, please, and I really mean it, please don't call me," Oliver said, a half smirk on his face.
Lena shot him a glare while Oliver laughed and walked off.
"Mama," Lizzie whispered, while she leaned into Lena.
"Sh, we're here. We're here," Lena whispered, rocking the little girl. She closed her eyes, and Kara kissed her wife's cheek.
-SG-
Seven year old Lizzie walked to their mothers, her hand hidden behind her back. "Mama?" Lizzie called out, knowing Lena was the better mother to go to with an injury.
"Yes?" Lena asked, her eyebrow raised.
Lizzie revealed her hand, and Lena just stared at her daughter's hand. A pencil was sticking out of it. "How?"
Lizzie shrugged, looking at her own hand.
"God, you are your mother's daughter."
Lizzie just gave her a smile.
-SG-
Oliver thought it would be a great idea for the three little girls to learn to ride their bikes. Sara and Ava brought the son they adopted, Hunter, after the man who brought them together. But he was too little to learn.
Oliver looked at the three bikes, grinning at the color scheme. Red, Green and Blue. After their hero parents.
Lena was in the office, and Kara was fighting an alien. Barry and Oliver offered to help, but Lizzie was too excited to wait to learn.
Oliver watched over Mia and Lizzie, while Barry watched over his child.
The three girls started to pedal, while Ava, Sara, Felicity, Iris and little Hunter cheered.
It was when Oliver let Lizzie go, that the girl fell and scraped her knee and palm. There were tears, but Lizzie was determined to get back on.
But when Lena and Kara arrived, they weren't happy.
And the Earth 1ers expected Lena to be the one they would have to worry about. They didn't expect for Kara to grab Oliver by the throat and press him against the wall, her eyes glowing. Oliver had never looked so scared.
Lena grabbed Kara's arm. "Hey, she's okay. She said that Oliver took care of her, let him go."
Kara stared at Oliver for a second, and the Green Arrow could feel the heat coming out of her eyes, before she let him go. Kara turned, her cape hitting his side. Felicity walked to her husband, a teasing smile on her face.
"When she fell, I expected Lena to punch me. I didn't expect Kara to almost give me a lobotomy."
Felicity laughed, turning to watch as Kara and Lena made sure their daughter was okay.
"They would kill anyone for their child. Just like you would, you should be proud."
There was a small smile on Oliver's face, as he stared at the two women he saw as his sisters. "I am."

Lizzie's powers started to manifest when she hit puberty. She wasn't as strong, or fast as Kara, but she was stronger than Lena. Something both mothers were grateful for. They were excited that they didn't have to take Lizzie to the hospital as often.
But unlike Kara, Lizzie's powers came and went at points. Her body wasn't ready for all the powers yet.
Which meant the parents didn't know when Lizzie was invulnerable or not.
And one day, Kara was trying to park her car, while Lizzie was making sure it all lined up. While Kara was reversing, she got distracted for one second. And in that second, she accelerated and hit her daughter. She heard Lizzie cry out, and Kara ran out of her car to her daughter.
While she ran, she tripped and slammed her head on the car parked behind her car. Kara dropped to the ground, holding her head.
"Fuck!"
Lizzie raised her head, "You said a bad word."
"I'll allow it this once."
"Should we call 911?" Lizzie asked, blinking.
Kara sighed, the pain on her head growing. She pushed herself up and pouted when the pain sharpened. "Call."
Lizzie laughed, grabbing her phone.
-SG-
Lena was exhausted. She had half a mind of buying a building and making it a hospital just for Kara and Lizzie. She walked into the building, and the receptionist giggled.
"They are in their usual room," the receptionist said, a grin on her face.
Lena thanked her and walked to the newly renamed Luthor-Danvers Room. Because Kara wasn't the only one who stayed there often. She walked into the room, to see her wife and daughter in two separate beds. It wasn't the first time, and she knew it wasn't going to be the last.
"Hey," Kara said, her voice low and slurred from the drugs. Lena could see the bandage on Kara's head. She looked at Lizzie, who was her arm on a cast.
"What happened?" Lena asked, looking at the two.
"Well, mom hit me with the car," Lizzie said, grinning with joy that Lena knew she got from Nia.
"And I hit a car when I was trying to check on her," Kara responded, letting her eyes close.
Lena sighed. She looked from her daughter to her wife, trying to think of what to say.
"I would say I wouldn't change this for the whole world, but I really would."
"We keep you young," Kara said, a half smile on her face. "You've said it before."
"No, you're both sending me to the grave."
"You love us," Kara said, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah mama, you love us."
Lena rolled her eyes.
"God, I can't believe there are two of you."
Kara beamed. "We can always have another and hope they end up like you."
Lena seemed to think about it. She looked at Lizzie, who was watching her. She looked at Kara.
"I'd really love that. Even if they end up like you."
To my American readers, happy thanksgiving.
So this part of the story is done. But there is more to the series. The texting fic will be posted tomorrow.
