Keiichi and Belldandy were walking home after he had given her the ring he had saved up for. She held onto him, looking like she was on cloud nine.

"Think Urd will get jealous?" Keiichi asked with a tiny smirk.

"No. I think she'll be happy for us," Belldandy said. There was something about her tone that seemed to say, 'She'll be incredibly jealous.'

'Nothing could ruin this day,' Keiichi thought with a smile.

Then what felt like a small giant (or Tamiya) grabbed the back of Keiichi and Belldandy's shirts, picked them up, and threw Belldandy against a tree.

Keiichi looked back and saw a muscular woman with short blonde hair and red marks on her face. She smiled and said, "Howdy! I'm Thrym!"

There were two other women. Both had red marks on their face, long blonde hair, and had evil grins on their faces. One wore leather clothes that made her look sorta like a man and her hair flowed in a fashionably messy way. The other wore a flamboyant yet revealing dress and her hair was carefully straight

Once she recovered, Belldandy flew up and asked, "Mara? What are you doing here? Who are your friends?"

"Since you have Urd with you, I thought, 'Why not get some friends to deal with you?' After all, you gods are big on the 'power of friendship' malarkey," Mara said.

"Hagal thought of this plan," Hagal chuckled, gesturing to herself with her thumb.

A chill went down Belldandy's spine. "What plan?"

The trio of demons all pointed under Keiichi, making a portal appear. Belldandy recognized the portal, it being a demonic one that led to Hell. She shrieked, "No! Don't!"

Thrym let go of Keiichi, who screamed as he fell into the portal. Belldandy had tried to fly and save Keiichi, but she was tackled to the ground by Mara. The demon cackled, "Sorry, but your human is gonna die in Hell!"

The portal vanished. Belldandy let out a scream as she threw Mara off. Belldandy leapt to her feet, her eyes promising to beat the demons up until they returned Keiichi back to her.

"Now for Hagal's part!" Hagal cackled as she stared Belldandy in the eyes.

As Belldandy's vision became filled with red rocks, blobs, and purple gases, Mara's voice said, "Remember this day, Belldandy. Remember january 24, 1990! It's the day you failed a wish!"

Hours later, Urd had to free Belldandy from Hagal's illusions. The demons were long gone.

After Urd and Belldandy returned to the temple, they had gotten a call to return back to Heaven. No matter how much the sisters argued, it was pointed out they needed three demons to get permission to enter Hell.

From what Heaven had scanned, The portal that Keiichi was dropped in had led to the deepest and most dangerous part of Hell. He was not expected to survive for long. Heaven's scanners could not scan very far into Hell, due to Hell's own protections.

Belldandy wept for a decade. The second decade, she chose to work maintenance, unable to get the will to go back to the Goddess Relief Office.

Once a day, Belldandy checked her terminal at home, hoping that she'd get a message about Keiichi Morisato.

Every day, He was listed as 'Indeterminable' and the wish was labeled as 'On hold'.

On January 25, 2020, it changed to 'Alive'.

A few clicks later, Belldandy saw that he was back at the temple. Her body moved without thought, as the next thing she knew was being held back by Lind at the gates of Heaven.

"We have no idea if this is a trap or not, Belldandy! Better that we survey the situation than to rush in," Lind said.

"It's Keiichi! I know it is!" Belldandy said, using all her selfcontrol to not attack Lind.

"Let her go, Lind. There's no stopping her," Urd said as she walked into view.

"Are you certain, Urd?" Lind asked.

"No, so we'll go with her. If it's Keiichi, then we'll help him recover from his time in Hell. If it's not, we'll deal with the remains," Urd stated.

"Remains?" Lind asked as she let go of Belldandy.

"If it's something pretending to be Keiichi, I expect Belldandy to tear it apart," Urd answered with a chuckle.

At the long abandoned temple, a man in armor of dark green, silver, black and bronze just idly wandered around. The armor was futuristic. It held weapons in some form of subspace that he could pull out of by merely willing it.

Memories of himself and two women living together. It took him a few moments to recall the women were sisters.

He had trouble remembering one of them. She was mischievous and liked to do her own thing, regardless of what others thought. He just couldn't remember her name.

But he remembered Belldandy. The wonderful Belldandy. There were days where the hope of one day seeing her face again gave him more strength than the desire to stay alive. He had given her a ring before some trio of demons ripped him from all he knew and into a jungle of nightmares. If it wasn't for the old one who saved him on a mere whim, he'd have died on the first day.

He heard a sound. It was the noise of a portal, like the one that sent him into a wretched nightmare and the escape from it.

He took out a plasma rifle and looked around.

If something wanted to kill him in his home, then he'd make sure they'd-

"Keiichi? Keiichi, is that you?"

'Belldandy?' Keiichi thought, tears threatening to fall from his eyes. "Belldandy?"

"You sound muffled, Keiichi. Are you feeling well?" Belldandy said as she walked into view. Though she noticed the rifle and armor, all she cared about was that she and Keiichi were together again.

"...Now I am," Keiichi said, sending the plasma rifle back to his subspace. He took off his helmet and put it on a dusty table. He held out his arms, which were quickly wrapped around Belldandy.

The two hugged and wept tears of happiness.

There was the slightest sound of a footstep. Keiichi let Belldandy go, stepped between her and the noise, pulled out his energy pistol, and whispered, "Do you know who it is, Belldandy?"

"Urd and Lind. Urd is my sister and Lind is a Valkyrie," Belldandy answered in a normal volume.

"Yup, we're here to-Lind, let go!" Urd's voice exclaimed.

"I'd drop my poleaxe, but it is a seal on my power," Lind called out.

"Fair enough. I'll put away my weapon," Keiichi called out before doing so.

Urd and Lind walked into view, with Urd glaring at Lind.

Belldandy asked, "Shall I make some tea and some snacks?"

"Food's probably rotted away by now," Keiichi muttered. "How many years has it been?"

"Around thirty years or so. 2021, if you want to know the year," Urd said, using a spell to fix up the collapsed couches and coffee table. Belldandy went to the Kitchen, planning on using a spell to create food and tea.

Keiichi looked like he had been punched. As he sat down, Lind asked, "May I look at your helmet?"

"...Sure," Keiichi muttered. "Thirty years. I lost thirty years… I'm a fifty year old man..."

Lind picked up the Helmet and carefully studied it. Urd looked between the two before saying, "Keiichi, if you like, we can go to another world and you can live there with Belldandy."

Keiichi looked down to the ground and covered his face with his hands, "I'll… I'll think about it."

"Keiichi Morisato, have you ever heard of 'Doom Slayer'?" Lind asked.

"Can't say I have. I've been fighting animal-monster-things for Thirty fucking years. Sometimes plant things, sometimes mineral things, but all wanted to kill me," Keiichi replied. "Thirty years. Mom and Dad and Megumi must think I'm dead. Are they even alive? Did I miss my parents funeral?"

Urd sat beside Keiichi and rubbed his back in a comforting way. She asked, "Doom Slayer? That's a rumor. Some humanoid killing off the unkillable demons who aren't bound by the Doublet System can't be Keiichi. He's too soft and nice."

Keiichi chuckled in a way that worried Urd, "I haven't been soft and nice for a long time. Besides, they can't be unkillable if I kill them."

"True. I suspect those demons made themselves magic-proof and Keiichi used something other than magic to kill them," Lind replied.

"Just advanced tech that wound up in the pit of Hell I was stuck in," Keiichi muttered. "What's a Doom Slayer anyways?"

"A small group of mortals who inspire fear in demons by being too furious to be killed or even stopped," Lind answered.

"How'd you get out?" Urd asked.

"Even demons will do stuff you ask them to if they know you are more than willing to remove their body parts if they refuse," Keiichi replied.

"I made tea and some cookies," Belldandy said. As she placed a tray of goodies on the table, she added, "Also a small cake for me and Keiichi."

"So… Mara? You ever found her?" Urd asked.

Keiichi was silent for a minute before asking back with angry steel in his voice, "No. Why do you ask?"

Urd began to feel as if she was being targeted as she answered, "We were friends long ago before I decided to remain a goddess. So I was wondering if you could avoid killing her."

More time passed. Keiichi focused more on eating the cake, but clearly was thinking about the answer. "Five minutes. Five minutes alone with her. She'll be alive. That much I promise."

"How about motorcycles? I can check to see if your beemer is here," Belldandy asked, hoping to lighten the mood.

"Megumi probably has it. I told her once that if anything happened to me, she can have it," Keiichi muttered.

Notes from HotelKatz : Another Winter tales from me.

This was an idea I tossed around a few times in the past. I suspect it would go one of two ways.

One being reconnecting with loved ones, or at least the attempt to.

Another is Belldandy and a BAMF-Keiichi going to different worlds and adventuring. This... has a chance of seeming like an In-name-only fic, where they might as well be original characters.

In either case, we'd have a scene where Keiichi is holding Mara in a headlock, ripping the hair off her head while screaming, "RIP AND TEAR! RIP AND TEAR UNTIL IT IS DONE!
