Chapter 4
Tune Trouble
It was seven-thirty when Katherine came downstairs, once again wearing her purple shirt and light blue skirt. Bugs was cooking breakfast as Lola set the table.
"Morning, sweety." Lola said.
"Morning mum." Katerine said taking her seat. "So what's for breakfast?"
"My special Carrot full English." Bugs said walking over to the table and placing the meal on the table.
"So any plains for today?" Lola asked before she ate one of the carrots on her pleat.
"Not today." Katherine said.
An Awkward silence filled the room as the rabbits continued to their breakfast, then Bugs decided to break the silents.
"So um, Katherine. Me and your mum have been wanting to ask you something." he said.
"Oh really, what about?" Katherine asked.
"Well, you don't seem to be happy when your friends aren't here." Bugs said.
"And we were just wondering, why you didn't go with the others to another part of the Serververse?" Lola finished.
"Oh, no reasons." their daughter said then gave a nervous smile, but her parents didn't buy it.
"Katherine if something is bothering you then just tell us." Lola said.
"No, I'm fine mum, really." Katherine said.
As bugs finished his last carrot an idea formed in his head. "Say Katherine would like to go to work with me? I'm going to be dealing with Elmer Fudd today and I know how much you like the tricks I pull on him." he said.
Katherine thought for a moment. It would be better than doing nothing all day. "Okey dad." she said.
"Great. Nothing like a father-daughter day I always say." her father said.
"When have you said that?" her mother asked.
"Just now and I've said it before." Bugs said.
"We've been married for twenty-two years and I've never heard you say father-daughter day. Well except for just now so I guess I have." Lola replied.
Bugs laughed. "Lola, you crack me up." he said.
"I try." Lola said. "By the way isn't time that you and Katerine should be going?" she said pointing to the clock on the wall. The clock showed it was now eight o'clock.
"Hey right. Hate to eat and run but duty calls. Ready Katherine?" Bugs said picking up the last carrot on his plate to eat on the way.
"Ready. Bye mum." Katerine said.
"Bye Katerine. Bye Bun-Bun." Lola said waving goodbye as her husband and daughter walked off to work.
"Bye Honey." Bugs said waving back as he and Katerine exited through the back gate.
The two of them walk through the town passing several other Looney Tunes as they did so.
"hola, señor Bunny and hola, senorita Bunny" a mouse said running across the path.
"Eh, hi, Speedy." Bunny said.
"Morning Mr. Gonzales." Katerine said.
They continued on their way as Speedy ran in the opposite direction, as they left the town they entered the desert area of Tunes World Bugs began to talk.
"So um, what did you and Chuck talk about yesterday?" he asks before taking a bite of his carrot.
"Oh, just random things." Katerine said.
"Did he ask you about going to DC world?" her dad asked.
"Yes." she answered.
"And you said no?" Bugs asked.
"Well, not exactly?" Katerine said.
"Katerine, you know you have a choice to live in other worlds outside of Tunes World."
"I know dad. I just like being here like you do." Katerine said.
"I only stand here because of A.L-G. You don't have to worry about him or any other computer nut case."
"I know, but I want to live here." she said.
"Are you sure?" he asked. Katherine nodded. "Ok then." Bugs said but he still wasn't convinced that this was true.
As they came to the road Bugs and Katerine stopped. They saw Wile E. Coyote standing on a cliff with a jetpack as he waited for his prey.
"Meep Meep." Roadrunner said before come to stop next to the rabbits. Wile E. flip the switch on his jetpack to on and quickly flew down towards the tall bird. The Roadrunner step to the side at the last second, Wile E passed him and flew headfirst into a cactus.
"Oh, that going to leave a mark." Bugs said as he and Katherine started to walk as the Roadrunner speeded off across the desert. Once they were out of the desert the two rabbits reached the spot where Bugs would begin his hunting routine with Elmer. At the spot, Daffy Duck was already hamming in a sign that read 'Rabbit Season'.
"I am a duck bent on self-preservationum." Daffy said as he finished hamming in the sign.
"Eh, what's up doc?" Bugs said munching on his carrot, whilst Katherine watched from the side. Suddenly a gun appeared next to him.
"Say youw pweys wabbit. It's wabbit season." Elmer said.
"Actually doc, it's duck season." Bugs said.
"He lies, it's rabbit season." Daffy responded.
"Duck season."
"Rabbit season."
"Duck season."
"Rabbit season."
"Rabbit season."
"I say it's duck season and that's final." Daffy said crossing his arms.
Elmer amend his gum at the duck and blasted him. When the smoke disappeared Daffy's bill was still spinning, after a few seconds, it stopped at the back of his head. Daffy reach back and pulled his bill back in its normal position.
Katherine laughed at what had just happened. Daffy glared at her causing her to stop.
"It's not funny." the duck said.
"Hey take easy Daff, she was just enjoying the show." Bugs said.
"Oh yeah well lets she here try it then." Daffy said.
"Ok." Katherine said. She walked toward where the trio was and took her father's place as Bugs watched from the side.
"Now let's run through that again." Daffy said.
"Ok." Katherine said. "Duck season."
"Rabbit season." said Daffy.
"Duck season."
"Rabbit season."
"Rabbit season."
"Duck season fire." Daffy shouted. Once again Elmer blasted the duck. Daffy gave an angry look at Katherine as he pulled his bill back again.
"Beginner's lucks." he said.
"Not really. You fall for it ever it." Katherine pointed out.
"No, it's not." Daffy said.
"Yes, it is. My dad has been doing it to you for years and he always tricks you." Katherine said.
"She's right doc." Bugs said happy to see his daughter having fun after a bad start to the day.
"It's twue." Elmer said.
"Well, she still had only had beginner's luck." Daffy said.
"Doesn't that make it more embarrassing?" Katherine asked.
"Oh go play with your friends." Daffy said in an angry tone, then he realized what he just said as Katherine's expression turn sad. "Katherine I didn't mean..."
"It's ok." she said "I think I'll for a walk." Katherine began to walk away. Bugs glared at Daffy who chuckled nervously.
"You have to just had to open your big beak." Bugs said as he smacked across the face before running over to his daughter.
"I deserved that." Daffy said guiltily.
Bugs reached his daughter and both stop walking. Then Bugs spoke. "Katherine, I'm sure Daffy..."
"It's fine dad. I... I just want to be alone for a while." she said before continuing her walk. Bugs walked back to where Daffy and Elmer were to continue their job.
Katherine walked past the field where Ralph Wolf and Sam Sheepdog worked. The two of them were on their five-minute break, they had just finished their coffees when they noticed her.
"Afternoon Katherine." Sam said.
"Afternoon Katherine." Ralph said.
"Oh um, hi Ralph, hi, Sam." Katherine said.
"Is there something wrong?" Ralph asked.
"No, I've just been having a bad day so far." she said.
"You want to talk about it?" Sam asked.
"No thank you, it's more of a personal thing." Katherine said.
"Ok but if you ever need someone to talk to me and Sam are always open." the wolf said.
"Thanks, guys." Katherine said.
"Anytime." the sheepdog said. Then the whistle blew to signal the end of Ralph and Sam's break.
"Well, time get back to work. See you later Katherine." Ralph said.
"Bye guys." the rabbit said.
"Bye Katherine." Sam said then he and Ralph walked back to their jobs, whilst Katherine continued to walk towards the town.
Lola was with Tina and June at Maltese's cafe. June was a middle-aged blond-haired woman, she was the daughter of the late Emma Webster and Starlett's mother. Lola steering her coffee.
"So what bothering you?" Tina said.
"It's Katherine she doesn't seem to be too happy lately." Lola said.
"Have you asked her why?" June asked.
"I know why, she misses being with her friends." Lola said.
"Have you asked her why she doesn't just go with them?" Tina asked.
"I have but she doesn't want to talk about it." Lola said.
Then Lola saw her daughter walking towards them with her head looking down at the ground.
"Hi sweety, should you be with your dad? His shift only began a few minutes ago." Lola asked.
"Oh I prefer to have a walk." Katherine said.
"What did Daffy say this time?" Tina asked, knowing that her husband had something to do with this.
Katherine was about to say something but the four women saw a spaceship entering the earth's atmosphere.
"Who do you they are?" June asked. Then she, Tina, Lola, and Katherine run towards the palace where the ship was going to land.
All around Tune World the Looney Tunes stopped what they were doing to see who had just arrived in their world. Just as Lola and Katherine got close they stopped.
"Katherine, wait here until I say it's safe." Lola said not wanting her daughter to be in danger. Katherine nodded and waited behind a tree as her mother went up with the Tunes to where the ship was landing.
"Where's Katherine?" Bugs asked.
"I told her to wait until we know it's safe." Lola said.
"Good thinking." Bugs replied.
"Thanks, Bun Bun. What did Daffy say to her?" Lola asked.
"He said go play with your friends." Bugs said.
"Remind me to kill him after this." Lola said gritting her teeth.
The ship land, the doors opened to reveal a tall woman. She walked out of the ship to the Tunes.
"Hello there. You are the Looney Tunes I presume?" Orde-ly said.
"That would be, I say be correct." Foghorn Leghorn said.
"And who awev yow" Tweety asked.
"I am Orde-ly. I am a state-of-the-art computer software that was designed to help society." the grey-dressed woman said. The Tunes looked uneasy.
"You're not here to try and split us up are you?" Sylvester asked.
"What in the world gave you that idea?" Orde-ly asked just as Jessie walk up to her.
"Let's just say we've had bad experiences with computer beings." Bugs said.
"Computer being bad." Taz said.
"Well I'm not here to split you up just change you."
"Changement?" Pepe Le Pew said.
"Yes, you see you're not suitable for society." Orde-ly said.
"Not suitable?" Petunia Pig said.
"You see your jokes could be harmful to society. Therefore I going to help you to become harmless and then you can be seen by the public." Orde-ly said.
"Estás hablando de, we've been suitable for people for years." Speedy said.
"And we're already made some changes to our sketches to fit into today's culture." Penelope Pussycat said. Whilst all this was happening, Katerine watched from behind her tree.
"Well I don't think you're suitable, so I will change you." Orde-ly said.
"You can't do that." Witch Hazel protested. Gossamer grunted in agreement.
"The witch is right." Barnyard Dawg added.
"Yes." Mrs. Prissy said.
Orde-ly's face turned red as her patience was close to ending. "You will be changed and we can the easy way or the hard way."
"You're ain't a changing no one." Yosemite Sam said as ran up toward the woman then pointed his guns at her.
"I guess we're doing it the hard way then." Orde-ly said. "Jessie, the sheet."
Jessie gave her the sheet reluctantly. The sheet had all the names of the Looney Tunes on it. Orde-ly pressed Yosemite's name. Suddenly a grey-blue glow formed around the red-haired cowboy.
"What in tarna..." Sam was about to say before he disappeared.
The Tunes gasped in horror at what had just happened. Orde-ly then pressed Speedy's name.
"No, por favor." Speedy said as the glow formed around him then he disappeared. Orde-ly then went to press Penelope's name.
"No, leave my lovely wife out of this take me insteand." Pepe said. Orde-ly pressed his name and he disappeared then Orde-ly pressed Penelope's name and the cat disappeared. Orde-ly continued to press the names and in a few seconds, every Tune was gone except for Bugs and Lola. That was when Jessie saw Katherine but decided to stay quiet. Bugs stepped in front of his wife to protect her.
"Do you really think that going to stop me?" Orde-ly said before pressing Lola's name.
"Lola!" Bugs screamed as the glow formed around his wife.
"Bugs!" Lola screamed just before she disappeared.
Tears formed in his eyes, then his expression turn to anger as he faced the woman who had taken her.
"This means war." Bugs said in an angry tone.
"And what exactly are you going to do?" Orde-ly said as she pressed the final name on the sheet and Bugs Bunny disappeared.
Orde-ly then turned to the ship. "We've finished faster than I thought we would." she said. Then both she and a sad Jessie walked to the ship. "Take this." Orde-ly said throwing the sheet toward Jessie. The blonde caught the sheet as quickly as she could. "Sorry." she whispered to it. inside the sheet was here the Tunes had been sent.
"Where are we?" Wile E. Coyote asked.
"Well, this is just great." Marvin said.
"She got all of us trapped in here." Sylvester said.
Lola then looked around "Wait a minute, where's Katherine?" she said.
"I don't know." Bugs said. Then both of them realized that their daughter had been left all alone in Tune world.
Outside, Orde-ly and Jessie entered the ship and blasted off.
Katherine watched in horror as saw the woman who had taken her parents away. Tears formed in the rabbit's eye. She then looked up into the sky just as the ship disappeared.
"Don't worry guys I'll save you." she said as tears rolled off her cheeks, but she had no idea how. She needed help but she was the only one still in Tunes World and Eric would be coming back for three weeks. All hope seemed lost.
