A pencil was tapped over and over again as a brown-haired girl looked lazily at her paper. It was a history paper. Not a test, just a worksheet. She was halfway done but had no interest in doing it.
The bell rang and everyone including the girl stood up as everyone placed their papers on the teacher's desk. The girl placed hers last and attempted to leave.
"Gloria!" The teacher called as the girl turned around. "What is this?" the woman asked as she held up the last paper she received.
"My… work…" Gloria said as she rubbed her eyes. "Yes, I can tell since it has your name on it." The teacher said as she pointed to the "Gloria Shield" written at the top.
"I was asking more about why it wasn't done." She said as Gloria sighed. "Sorry Miss. I just didn't have enough time." She said as the woman pinched the bridge of her nose.
"Gloria this is the third time you've failed to finish an assignment you had more than twenty minutes to do." She said as Gloria cringed. Had she really been slipping that badly?
"Again, I'm sorry miss but it's lunch so I'm gonna head out," Gloria said before she shouldered her bag and ran out of the classroom.
The teacher sighed as she watched the girl leave. "What am I going to do with her? It's been like this for months…" She said before going back to her computer.
After School
Gloria walked out of school and stretched her arms. She was wearing her school uniform that was a black blazer with a blue ribbon tie and a white undershirt. She had a blue skirt, black stockings, and blue and white shoes.
Gloria then saw a girl walk past with the same uniform and called out to her. "Hey, Rosa!" Gloria called as Rose turned around. The girl with brunette hair tied in buns with twintails on her side turned to her.
"Oh hey, Gloria!" Rosa said as her equally brunette friend walked up to her. "Finally got rid of the bob huh?' Rosa said as Gloria touched her hair.
Up until recently, Gloria had her hair in a bob but eventually, it grew to the point where she stopped the bob and just decided to make two braids on the sides of the front of her hair.
"That's beside the point! Where have you been this week! It's Friday!" Gloria said with a pout as Rosa laughed.
Rosa and Gloria had been childhood friends since 4th grade and out of all the things Gloria knew about Rosa, it was that Rosa didn't miss school.
"Sorry, we had to move. You wanna come over Saturday?" Rosa said as Gloria nodded excitedly. "Yeah! What should we do?" She asked as they began walking.
They had basic mundane talk before they got on the bus and started to ride home
Rosa then pulled out her phone. She then opened an app before she brought out wireless earbuds.
"Whatcha listening to?" Gloria asked as Rose turned towards her. "CYB3R made a new song. Wanna listen?" Rosa said, offering an earbud towards Gloria. She took it and put it in her ear as Rosa put hers in her own ear and pressed play.
It was a music video and three girls stood on the screen. One had red hair and was wearing a blue button-up shirt that wasn't all the way buttoned and wore a white undershirt with a blue tie. She also wore a blue mini skirt and blue shoes.
The girl to her right had black hair and grey eyes with a similar outfit though her shirt was buttoned all the way and she had black pantyhose on. The girl to the left had pink hair and her shirt unbuttoned even further but also had her undershirt slightly unbuttoned as well. And was wearing a blue beret.
"Bask in all the glory! Time to tell our story!" The girls said as a spotlight appeared on them and strobe lights came in after.
The black-haired girl walked in front before striking a pose. "I'm a shining star, filtering out the darkness." She said as the pinkette walked next to her. "I'm a hopeful star, shining in the light!" She said as the redhead walked forwards.
"We are the stars of hope and brightness! Flying with our lightness!" She said as the girl then turned around before putting their hands behind their backs and bending backward.
"We are the goal, we are the truth, we are the pinnacle of youth! We are the beacon of light that shines all bright! We are staaaaaaars!" They sang as they danced.
"Woah…" Gloria said as Rosa turned to her. "And guess what? They're in high school like us!" She said as Gloria gasped.
"What?!" Gloria asked as Rosa laughed. "Yeah! They are called school idols." She said as the other brown-eyed girl looked at her. "School idols huh?" She thought.
"I'm home!" Gloria announced as she walked into her house. "Hey, sweetie!" Her mother called as Gloria walked into the kitchen. Her mother had the same hair color as her but wore a ponytail and wore glasses. She was wearing a white apron with a white t-shirt and black leggings.
'Watcha making?" Gloria asked as she walked next to her mother. "Broccoli, Meatloaf, and rice." Gloria's mother said as the brunette grinned. "Sounds great mom!" Gloria said. "Thanks, Ria. Could you set the table please?" She asked as Gloria nodded. "Just let me get out of my uniform and put away my bag." She said as she walked into her room next to the kitchen.
Gloria and her mother were eating as Gloria had put on a t-shirt and shorts. "So how was school?" Her mother asked as Gloria flinched. Great, the usual conversation.
"Boring." Was all Gloria said. It was a system. In order to not tell your parents about how bad school was you just say it was boring. If nothing eventful happened then they won't question any further and might(usually never) move onto a different topic… today was not one of those days.
"Your tech teacher called me and told me you spent more time playing games than doing work." She said as Gloria sighed. "Didn't wanna…" She said as her mother sighed. "Well did anything happen today?" She asked as Gloria was gonna answer with her same answer before she remembered CYB3R.
"Yeah, Rosa showed me a new song," Gloria said as her mother perked up. "Been some time since you've talked about anything interesting with Rosa, you seem so bored lately." Her mother said as Gloria sighed.
"What was it about?" she asked as Gloria looked up. "Kinda about being stars and shining." She said as her mother nodded.
"Sounds like a lot of music these days." She said as Gloria sighed again. "Mom, you're old." She said as her mother made a mock offended sound.
"I am not old!" She said as her daughter let out a small snicker. And Mrs. Shield smiled. It had been some time since her daughter seemed to be having fun. Outside of hanging out with Rosa, Gloria seemed to be disinterested in everything. Leaving things unfinished or simply not trying to begin with.
"So about this CYB3R… what are they like?" Mrs. Shield asked as Gloria finished off her plate. "They were beautiful. They danced amazingly and they sang so well…." She said in awe as her mother seemed shocked.
"They were even high schoolers. They're called school idols" She finished as her mother smiled. "Maybe you should become one! A school idol!" Her mother said as Gloria looked up.
"I-I… no! I could never be a school idol! I'm not cute enough!" Gloria stammered as her mother frowned. "You're cute to me." She said as Gloria turned away. "You're my mom! It's your job to tell me that!' Gloria said.
The conversation changed a few times after that and Gloria washed the dishes before later in the night where she was texting Rosa on her phone.
R: Aight i need to go to bed talk later?
G: Sure! I'll see you tomorrow.
R: O Yea you coming over still?
G: Yeah.
R: Cool i'll see you tomorrow
R: Night
G: Gn
Gloria placed her phone on her night table and put its charger inside before she turned and stared at the ceiling. As she did that her conversation with her mother came into mind.
"Me? A school idol?" Gloria asked aloud before she shook her head. "No way… I'm not cute enough…" She said before she turned over and saw her phone. She then grabbed it and went to google before looking up "CYB3R".
They had been formed a year prior and had been performing since. They had won multiple idol tournaments and were the reigning champions of the Idol League.
The group was three girls and had no backup or one-time members. They were Ami Aiba, Nokia Shiramine, and Yuuko Kamishiro. With Ami being the leader.
"They're all so beautiful… how could I even consider myself even remotely near their level?" Gloria sighed before she went to place her phone down again before she saw their latest song.
Gloria then grabbed her earphones and placed them inside her ears before plugging them into the phone and turned on the song and listened as she went to sleep.
Gloria woke up the next morning and realized that she was no longer listening to music. She turned and saw a "Are you still listening?" Notification on her phone. "Well, I better get ready to go hang out with Rosa," Gloria said before she got dressed.
She put on a black t-shirt with a red bracelet on it and a red plaid skirt with shorts underneath and red sneakers. She then left the house and went to meet up with Rosa.
"Yo, what's up?" Rosa asked as she saw Gloria from the bench she sat on. "Nothing much. So whatcha wanna do?" She replied as Rosa stood up.
She was wearing a white shirt with black sleeves and leggings with a yellow skirt and black trainers.
"First let's head to my house and we can choose what to do from there?" Rosa asked as Gloria nodded. "Yeah! Let's go!" She said as Rosa smiled.
"So Rosa… I listened to more CYB3R…" Gloria said as they walked up to Rosa's house. "Yeah? What did you listen to?" she asked as she opened the door and walked inside the house.
"Uhh, it was Shining Star, Miracle Beat, Future Love, and Always on Top," Gloria said as she walked inside.
"Ohh great picks. What's your favorite? Mines Ride-on Light." Rosa said as Gloria went into thought again. "Shining Star." She said,
"Ohh the one I showed you? Nice, I need to listen to it more." Rosa said. Gloria looked around as she looked around the house. "Where's your mom?" Gloria asked as Rosa turned towards her.
"She's at work. She got a new job recently. Sis is out with friends so we're home alone for now." Rosa said. "Awesome!" Gloria said as her childhood friend laughed.
"Let's go to my room!" Rosa said as she started walking up the stairs. Gloria followed and quickly walked into the room after Rosa as the girl looked around.
"You already unpacked?" Gloria asked as she noticed no boxes around. "Yeah! Mom made us spend all day unpacking. We didn't explore the house until after!" Rosa laughed.
The girls talked about needless things while playing games on Rosa's switch.
Then Gloria thought about what her mother said. "Hey, Rosa," Gloria said as her friend looked at her. "I told my mom about CYB3R, and she said I could be a school idol!" She said with a laugh as Rosa went quiet.
"Hey, Rosa…?" Gloria said as Rosa looked up. "What's wrong with that?" Rosa asked as Gloria looked away.
"I-I mean I'm not cute enough to be a school idol. It just wouldn't be worth it." Gloria said, closing her eyes as Rosa grabbed her shoulders. Gloria's eyes opened as she stared at her friend.
"Ria you are more than cute enough to be a school idol!" Rosa said as Gloria looked at her. "Plus… we could be school idols together…" Rosa said as Gloria's eyes widened.
"But I have no talent! You'd be a great school idol! I would just bring you down…" Gloria said as Rosa shook her head. "You wouldn't! I'd love to be on a stage with you!" She said as Gloria looked down.
"Look Ria, for these past few years… you've been in the dumps and you've lost interest in all the things you used to love... " Rosa said as she let go of Gloria.
Gloria kept her head down as she heard that. She knew the reason. Rosa did too. Gloria's father walked out on her and her mother years prior. She never even got a reason. All she knew was that her parents had been arguing and one day he just never came back from work.
Turns out her parents had been arguing for months and one day had a really bad fight over the phone and her father had enough and left. No wonder her mother never seemed to show much sadness.
Gloria didn't blame either of her parents. Sometimes people just don't click after a while but she was still hurt. She gave up on school and clubs for some time.
While it had been years since then Gloria never truly got over it.
"These past 2 hours have been great because you seem so interested in school idols. I'm happy you found something to love again!" Rosa said as tears pricked the edge of her eyes through her smile.
Gloria reached over and hugged her as Rosa hugged her back. "I'm happy too. I love school idols." Gloria said, smiling as Rosa smiled back at her.
They continued to talk as Rosa gave recommendations for other school idols and they listened to more music. They even sang along to a few.
Gloria was walking home with a smile on her face as she thought about everything. "Ahh Hanging out with Rosa was so much fuuuun!" She cried as she closed her eyes. But with her eyes closed, she wasn't watching where she was going and rammed into someone.
"Oww!" A female voice called as Gloria looked up. "I'm so sorry!" She said as she opened her eyes and noticed a girl who seemed slightly taller than her on the ground.
Gloria first noticed the girl's wig on the ground, which seemed strange because she had bright red hair. She had also been wearing a hat and sunglasses.
Gloria helped pick everything up and stood up. "I'm so sorry!" She repeated as she looked at the girl.
"It's fine." the girl said standing up as she looked up and Gloria gasped. Those blue eyes gave everything away.
"A-Ami Aiba?!" Gloria asked in shock as the girl felt her hair and released she had lost her wig and felt her face to realize she had also lost her sunglasses. The jig was up.
"Yep!" She said as Gloria's jaw dropped. But it wasn't long before she came out of her stupor and shoved the items in her hand forwards. "Here you go!" She cried as Ami took them.
"Thank you!" She said as she took the items from Gloria. "Uhh. you probably will say no but…. Can I get your autograph?!" Gloria asked with her eyes closed, blushing as Ami smiled and laughed.
"Of course. Got anything you want signed?" She said as Gloria perked up. She slung off her bag and dug through it before bringing out a random book and a pen.
Ami grabbed them before noticing the book. It wasn't an autograph book or anything, just a basic school notebook. She flipped it open and prepared to write on the first page.
"Who to make it out to?" She asked as Gloria stiffened up. "Uhhh Gloria Shield Miss Aiba." She squeaked as Ami laughed. "Just Ami is fine. I'm only a year older than you." She said as Gloria looked up. "You're a junior?" She asked as Ami nodded.
She was going to write before thoughts came through Gloria's head.
"Maybe you should become one! A school idol!"
"Ria you are more than cute enough to be a school idol!"
"We could be school idols together…"
"You wouldn't! I'd love to be on a stage with you!"
" I love school idols."
Gloria looked down before she took a deep breath. "Mi- Ami!" Gloria said as Ami looked up at her. She had only written maybe two letters.
"I… I want to be a… school idol!"
BOOOOOMAA Crash has been watching Love Live and now has sunshine as his top 1 favorite anime. This idea has been bouncing around in my head rent-free for weeks and I finally decided to put an end to it. Don't expect this to get updated too often. I'm not too confident in my lyric writing skills(pretty sure Shining StarLight was a good example of that) but I do want to improve with time. Being a rap fan it will be hard to adjust to music without sex, drugs, and money, or my favorite rap music's case, heartbreak. But hopefully, I'll get better. Hope you enjoyed R/R and have a good one BYEEEEEEEEE
Sidenote: Congratulations to whoever gets the reference I was going for with the members of CYB3R
