It had been a while since she had been here. A year, maybe two? She only came now when visiting her father during the holidays when she'd come home from college after she moved out with her now ex boyfriend. But right now she wasn't in the greatest state of mind and needed to unwind, at least until her father came home so they could talk. After all, she'd been staying in a hotel for the past few months after walking out of her ex's place until her father insisted she come back home. Sighing, pushing the door open to the café she was instantly greeted with a new face.

"Welcome! Are you by yourself miss or are their others in your party?" a beautiful strawberry blonde asked.

Yona just shrugged. "I'm just by myself."

"Well then follow me." The hostess said as she seated her at a small table. "Can I get your started on something to drink?" she asked as she handed the redhead a menu.

"Um, a latte please." Yona took the menu and glanced it over, but really she was looking around to see if any familiar faces were still there, and sure enough her eyes spotted him. That flamboyant green hair was hard to miss to be honest. She barely registered the hostess said she'd go get that for her when she noticed Jae-ha adjust his glasses and his eyes met hers, a smile on his face as he came over.

"Yona! Long time no see." He cheered as he came over, resting a hand on the empty chair. "Are you on break from college already? I bet your father is thrill to see you home, where's Hak he didn't come with you?"

Ouch. That hurt. Well, he didn't know so she couldn't be mad at him. It was well known she moved in with Hak when they went to college together, and Hak often came with her during her visits since his family lived in the same area. "… Hak's… Not with me." She mumbled, looking to the side. "We… Broke up." The stinging was still there just thinking about when she threw that frying pan at his head before stomping out.

Jae-ha's face fell. "Really? I'm sorry to hear that, Yona-chan. You two seemed so well together."

"We were until our ideals and my future clashed…" Yona mumbled, shaking her head. "… I… Really don't want to talk about it."

"Say no more." Jae-ha nodded. "How about a latte and a tasty treat to cheer you up? You always enjoy Yoon's specialties."

"Yoon still works here huh? Please I'd love to have one of his works of genius again." Yona smiled at that. "Oh, the hostess already went to get me one, I see you hired on more help finally."

"Yes her and two other waitresses came on to help around here, we've gotten a bit more popular overtime." Jae-ha hummed. "Gives me time to mingle with the guests. While keeping up social distancing of course, the shutdown nearly destroyed this place so I made a little deal with the owner after taking out a loan, he was eager to dump it so now you're looking at the new owner operator of this café~"

"Really? That's great Jae-ha." Yona smiled. She often heard how the owner was ruthless and stressed Jae-ha out a lot. Hearing that Jae-ha fulfilled his dream of actually owning the place really was an accomplishment.

"Here's your latte miss." The hostess came back with the drink, smiling as she saw them interact. "Oh, I didn't know she was a friend of yours, boss."

"Oh we go way back, when she was in high school she came here often." Jae-ha chuckled. "That was so long ago, now she's a lovely college student. How much longer until you graduate Yona?"

Yona flushed a bit, just how old did Jae-ha think she was? "I graduated this year, Jae-ha." She mumbled, taking a sip of her drink. "I just turned 23 a few months ago."

"Oh my, how the time flies." Jae-ha hummed. "So does that mean you're job hunting out here? I'm sure many can use your special touch. You were going for nursing school right?"

Yona nodded. "Yes that's right, honestly I just came out here to be with father because… I… Just didn't know where to go…" she admitted, obviously it having to do with her breakup.

"Oh my, aren't you worried about the risks due to covid right now?" the hostess asked. "So many front line workers have been at risk."

Yona twisted her mouth, recalling her argument with Hak again, how he insisted she was crazy putting her life at risk and to just stay home and let him earn the living for both of them. That he was paranoid over her getting sick and wanted her to almost stay in a little box he'd protect and it angered her so much he didn't respect her wishes or decision. "If there are people out there suffering, I want to help them."

Jae-ha smiled. "Yona-chan's been a kind hearted child as long as I've know her, it's admirable." He winked at her. "I'll be right back with a treat from Yoon, on the house."

"Oh Jae-ha you don't have to-" Yona gasped, but he was gone instantly.

The hostess giggled. "So you're Yona, the boss has mentioned you several times. Those of us that have never seen you say you're his favorite customer even though you're rarely here." She then went on back to her duties.

Yona blinked at that. Jae-ha spoke of her often? That seemed surprising she made that much of an impression on him, granted he probably just saw her as that little high school kid. She shook her head at the thought, shrugging it off.

Jae-ha came back with a chocolate tart and hummed. "Yoon says hi, he says we should all get together sometime like we used to years ago."

Yona smiled at that. "Thank you Jae-ha, really. And I'd like that, just like that new year's party we had years ago, that was so nice to invite me that time."

Jae-ha cleared his throat, a hint of redness in his cheeks as that came flashing back to his mind. "Ah, that time, wow you still remember that? I made a fool of myself when I slipped during our little jump."

"That 'party' wasn't even a thing until you mentioned you were waiting for your father that night and had no where else to go." Yoon's voice suddenly came from behind them.

"EH?!" Yona spun around to see the genius chef himself with his arms folded over his chest. "… W-what do you mean?" she then turned to Jae-ha, who was sweating bullets.

"… Yoon… That…" he adjusted his glasses.

"What? I mean come on man at least own up to it that you did it for her." Yoon rolled his eyes. "Even went through the trouble of inviting Hak just to play matchmaker like you often did."

Jae-ha coughed, trying to shake his head not to mention said person.

Yona just gave a small smile. "…. Thank you. It was really kind." She then chuckled. "Hey you used to make jokes about going drinking with Hak sometime, well I'm an adult now maybe we can go drinking together?" she offered…. And suddenly started questioning what in the world was she thinking?!

Jae-ha blinked rapidly at that, Yoon as well as they looked at each other. "Well I mean… It would be rude to decline a lovely invitation from a very beautiful lady." Jae-ha gave her a bow. "How about the three of us have a little get together and catch up after closing time?"

Yoon shrugged. "Eh, I wouldn't mind it. As long as you're buying."

"Of course, it's my treat." Jae-ha hummed. "The least I can do with you dealing with me all these years~"

"It'll take more than one drink to cover that." Yoon said with a stoic face.

Yona giggled. "I'd love to." She smiled, for the first time in the last few months she felt like life might be alright after all… The pain was going away, at least by just a little. Whatever it could lead to could be interesting.
