Yay, I'm alive! Ok but in all seriousness, this should have been updated long ago. Long ago might even be an understatement at this point. I apologize for the wait. Writing my newest story has sort of reignited my passion for writing these stories. And to make up for the lack of an update, I've made this chapter longer than others I've written to try to compensate. Anyway, I hope you all like it. And I'll announce this now, I'll be rotating my story updates from now on. So that'll be interesting. Hopefully it will keep me from just stopping in the middle of a story. Hopefully. Anyway, onto the chapter.
Chapter 2
"Wait, how did you-!"
[Whack]
Gohan smacked the robber across the face, eerily similar to how the robber had smacked Goten. He was sent careening into a nearby lightpost.
"That… was for Goten."
Sirens were sounding from the Anti-Skill vehicles that had arrived after they were called shortly after Gohan beat down on the robbers in question. They were being put into the large van that would be hauling them off to jail.
Gohan took this chance to walk back to the group.
"Misaka, Saten. I'd like to thank you both."
They both blinked in confusion. "Huh? But we didn't do anything."
"That's not true. You, Saten, almost immediately ran to help Goten after you heard him cry for help. And you, Misaka, after Goten was hit, you were about to use your ability against the robber. So again, I would like to thank you both."
Gohan got into a bow. Goten, seeing him do it, tried his best to imitate.
"You're not going to get up until we accept, are you?" Misaka asked.
"Nope."
"Then we accept your gratitude. Now tell us, how did you defeat them that quickly? One second they were standing, and the next they were on the floor. I thought your ability was teleportation."
"It is. But since I was around 5, I've been training in martial arts under my father and his friends. But it's still a little difficult to keep my emotions in check."
"That doesn't change the fact that you did it, controlled emotions or not. You know, you're really strong Gohan." Uiharu stated.
"Please, I'm not that strong. The day I can beat my father is when I'll truly think that."
"Was your father that strong?" Misaka asked.
"Oh, he was the strongest man I knew, and probably ever will be. No matter what happened, he would always come out on top. He was my hero growing up."
"He sounds incredible, Gohan. But I need to ask, you said 'strongest man you knew'. What does that mean?"
"…He died trying to fix my mistake."
All the girls were shocked to hear that. Saten was about to say something, but held her tongue. It's difficult to follow up after that.
"Im… sorry to bring up something like that. I didn't know."
"It's fine. But knowing him, he probably found a way to cheat death. If there is an afterlife, he's probably there training still."
"Hm, is that so? Anyway, now that everything's over and done with. Do you want to have that match we talked about?"
"Of course! I wasn't sure if you still wanted to do that today, but I'm down for right now."
"Alright then. There should be an abandoned cargo bay in the city. Let's go there."
"That sounds good to me. You want to watch Goten?"
"Yeah! Kick butt!"
"Hey, watch your language. Don't let mom hear you say that."
"Hehe, ok!"
Misaka chuckled at the sight. "How about you three? Do you want to watch too?"
"Of course!"
"Yes."
"It's only natural."
"Ok then, let's get moving."
It took them about thirty minutes to move between the sectors of Academy City, but they'd finally made it to the abandoned cargo bay that Misaka had talked about. There were tons of old empty shipping containers, it was a surprise to see them not in use anymore. Saten, Uiharu and Kuroko walked off to the side so as to not get caught in the crossfire.
"Goten, what are you doing over there still?"
Uiharu noticed that Goten hadn't moved from beside his brother, and then he pointed at Misaka. "Fight?"
"No no, Gohan is going to fight. We are going to watch from the sidelines.
"Oh. Ok."
"Ok, you ready Gohan?"
Gohan got into his stance. "Of course."
"Just so you know, I don't plan on losing." Saying that, small arcs of lightning began to course through the air all around Misaka's body.
"Don't worry, neither do I."
With that, Gohan vanished right in front of her. She sent out small arcs of lightning all around the area to try and detect him, but she just couldn't find him anywhere. The moment she stopped however…
[Bam]
Gohan came out of hiding. He teleported directly behind Misaka and hit her into one of the large shipping containers.
"To be frank, I'm impressed."
The comment caught Uiharu's interest. "Hm? What do you mean Kuroko?"
"He instilled a patience game. I believe it was also done by a man named Musashi Miyamoto back in Japan's history. They forced their opponent to work on their time. And as you just saw, Sissy lost in the first conflict."
"Wow, Gohan's incredible."
Misaka used her ability to move the massive container away from her and stand up. "Ok, I'll admit it. That was impressive."
"Thanks, my dad taught that to me. He would often disappear and reappear all around his opponent, that was more of a parody of it."
"You dad keeps impressing me the more you talk about him. But now I'm going to get serious."
"Bring it."
Gohan lunged towards Misaka at speeds she didn't think he was capable of. In response she quickly made a sword out of iron sand that formed in the dirt beneath them. Gohan was surprised at the sudden weapon in play, being forced to duck under as she swung it at him. Twisting on his feet, he made distance between them, but quickly found that he was being pulled towards her at a rapid pace.
"Take this!"
She threw a coin into the air, and as it came back down, she shot it at him with breakneck speed. He pulled his arms in front of his face as a blast of electricity shot straight towards him. If he was a normal person, he would've been in some serious pain from that. But Gohan was far from normal, he took the blast in stride and used the momentum he gained from it to quickly throw a sheet of metal that blew off from the containers when the blast was let loose.
"Right back at you!"
The sheet of metal tore through the air. But before it hit her, it had stopped midair. Once again, small arcs of lightning were dancing around her body, bouncing off the sheet as well.
"You know what my ability is, right?"
"Before the answer would've been no, but now? You're an Electromaster right? You're able to manipulate electricity."
"Yup. But honestly, challenging me without knowing my ability even though you already told me yours. And you even took my Railgun head on with little damage. I didn't think that would ever happen. You're an interesting person, Gohan."
"Thanks. And well, there's a first time for everything right?"
"I guess so. Ready for round two?"
"Of course."
"-sigh- I know it's been a week since your match with Misaka, but I still can't believe you two fought all night. And Goten's snoring didn't help me get any sleep either. Not like we could with you guys fighting right in front of us."
"Haha, don't worry about it Uiharu. The two of us were having fun anyway. From the looks of things, it's rare for a level five to get much of a challenge outside other level fives."
"That's true. I'm going to keep saying this, but you're really incredible, Gohan. You fought the third ranked level five and you forced a draw. It was amazing!"
"Heh, I wouldn't go that far."
"It's true. But anyway, I have to get to school. So you'll be the only one on patrol this morning. It honestly feels nice knowing that we have you on our team."
"Don't worry about it, get your school work done. We can talk more later."
"Ok, see you later Gohan."
With a quick bow, Uiharu left for her morning classes. Leaving Gohan alone in front of their Judgment branch.
"Now, let's finally take a look inside."
Gohan had never actually been inside his branch building now that he thought about it. Walking inside, it was quite homey. It was like a small apartment fit with a kitchen, a lounge, and a small room with a computer on filing cabinets. Uiharu said she worked as the support on their missions, so that's probably where she worked. He walked back over to the kitchen and towards the fridge and took a peek inside. As he closed it, he heard the front door open. The door shut, and a woman stepped into the room.
"Ah, you must be Gohan. Uiharu has been talking about you a lot recently. My name is Konori Mii, it is nice to meet you."
"The pleasure is mine. It's nice to meet the Chief of the branch I'm in."
"Uiharu was right, you're a nice guy. Well, you can just call me Konori."
"Ok then, is there anywhere that needs to be patrolled besides the usual area?"
"Not today. I'll stay here as your support in case anything happens. Good luck Gohan."
"Thanks. I'm off!"
"Alright Gohan, people have reported a chase going through your sector. Take your next right and you should see them."
"Understood."
School had just gotten out for most schools, so a chase makes a little bit of sense. As instructed, he took the next right and bumped right into someone.
"Oh sorry about that. You ok? You look like you're out of breath. Is this the guy that Konori was talking about?"
The guy he bumped into had spiky black hair, spikier than own even. He also had blue eyes. He wore one of the many school uniforms with what looked like an orange t-shirt underneath. He wore basic jeans and sneakers.
The guy Gohan bumped into looked up at Gohan, and took quick notice of his armband. "Hey wait, you have an armband. Listen, I need some help-"
"Hey!"
Both boys looked at where the sudden voice came from. Misaka was standing a couple feet away from them.
"I didn't expect to see you here, Gohan."
"Yeah, we had reports that there was a chase going around and that they ended up in my sector." Gohan kept eyeing Misaka as she slowly started averting her eyes. "When I came to check it out, it turns out that you're chasing this guy around."
"Yeah, what he said!" The guy had moved to stand behind Gohan.
"Why are you chasing him anyway?"
"That is none of your business."
"-sigh- Well, Goten is getting out of class soon. Would you like to come with me? After I clean this up, that is."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah. Goten seems to like you too, so it would be a nice surprise."
"H-He does? Well, I can't say no now can I?"
While Misaka was thinking to herself, Gohan took this chance to whisper to the guy still hiding behind his back. "I suggest you get out of here while she's distracted."
"Ok. Thanks again man, you saved my life."
"Ok Misaka, are you ready to get going?"
"Yeah!"
Goten was patiently waiting outside his school for Gohan to come pick him up. His friends had just left themselves so he was alone at the moment.
"Hey, Goten!"
"Huh?" He looked up to see Misaka waving at him with Gohan standing right next to her. "Misaka!"
He immediately ran up to her and gave her a big hug.
"Man, he hugged you before he hugged me. I told you he liked you."
"I didn't believe you, but what choice do I have now?"
After letting go of Misaka, Goten went and gave Gohan a hug as Gohan picked him up.
"Was Misaka a nice surprise?"
"Yeah yeah!"
"Haha, I'm glad I could help then. Hey, thinking about it, would you two like to come see my dorm? I know Uiharu and Saten wanted to take a look at it."
"Are you sure? You live in a girls dorm right? Would they even let us in?"
"If I put in a good word I'm sure you'll make it. And I doubt they can say no to Goten."
"What do you say Goten? Wanna go check out where Misaka lives?"
"Yeah!"
"Haha, alright then. If you'll have us, then we'll gladly accept your offer."
"Then let's get going then."
Unknown to them, the people in the area had recognized Misaka when she walked in. And after seeing Goten run up to her and Gohan, they were starting to make assumptions.
"Are you really sure this is ok? I mean, there's a reason it's a girls dorm right? No guys allowed, that kind of stuff."
"Trust me, if I say I'm just showing you around the place, then we should be fine."
"Fine about what, Misaka?"
"-gegh- H-Hey there, Head Resident. I was just, uhh."
"Who are these two?"
"Hello mam, my name is Gohan. The one on my shoulders is my little brother, Goten."
"Hello!"
"Hello to you both. Now tell me, why are you here?"
"Uhm, about that Head Resident. I was going to show Gohan around the premises. He's the newest member of Judgment's 177th branch, and he never got to know this area."
"Let's say I believe you. What about the younger brother? Surely he doesn't have to be here."
"Wanna be with Misaka!"
Gohan instantly made to cover Goten's mouth before he could say anything else. "Sorry about that, we just picked him up from school, so we decided that it would be fine if we brought him with us. I'm sorry if we've caused any trouble for you."
Gohan made to bow with Goten still on his shoulders, making Goten involuntarily bow as well. This surprised the Head Resident, as people don't usually act this pleasantly around her. She thought it was a nice change of pace. Especially when compared to Kuroko's attitude.
"Very well then. Misaka, you can show him around. But you must leave in two hours, you understand? This is a girls dorm after all."
"Of course, thank you very much."
"Very much!"
As the Head Resident walked away and around a corner, Misaka visibly deflated. Clearly, she wasn't expecting to confront her Head Resident so early in the trip.
"Well, are you two ready? It seems we've attracted some attention, so let's go somewhere further away first."
"Of course."
"Yeah!"
"So, how did you like the cafeteria?"
"Delifious."
"Now now, Goten. No talking with your mouth full."
"Haha, it seems like someone enjoyed our food here. He's got quite the appetite to. The next place we'll visit is the pool. As long as there's no one in it."
"Naturally. And by the way, I don't know if you noticed, but there's someone that's been following us for a while now."
"Don't worry, I noticed them as well. Do you know where they're hiding?"
"Yeah, their energy signature is from the other entrance to the cafeteria."
"Hmm. Let's keep going. If they're still following us after we finish, then we'll confront them."
"Sounds like a plan. Ok then, you said the pool was next, right?"
"Yup. It's the next right turn. So we're almost there."
"I just hope that there aren't any people there. I don't think they'd like me being there while they're swimming."
"Haha, don't worry. There shouldn't be anyone there at this time of day. Ah, here it is."
The group turned the next corner into an outside patio where the pool was located. As Misaka said, there was no one around, so Gohan could ease his worries slightly. Gohan crouched down and let Goten off his shoulders. The little guy ran straight towards the water with his hands held forward, almost like he was flying. The two watched as Goten took off his shoes, sat on the edge of the pool, and put his feet in. It was cute, all things considered. They both just watched him in comfortable silence… until someone started talking behind them.
"Well, Misaka. It's rare to see you with someone who isn't Kuroko, especially not a man."
They both turned around to see a girl with long golden blonde hair standing there. Her eyes were gold with a star in the middle of each of them, strange. She also had a suspiciously large bust for someone in middle school. She was wearing her Tokiwadai Uniform as well.
"What do you want, Shokuhou? I doubt you're here just to chat."
"Isn't it obvious? I'm here, because he's here. You should know how strange it is for a man to come to the dorms, especially with you. Don't worry boy, I can show you around."
Gohan could've sworn he heard a remote click just as she finished speaking, but he wasn't going to dwell on that too much.
"No thanks. Misaka said she would show me around, so I'll stick with her. Also, I don't even really know you either."
Gohan didn't know why, but both girls looked completely shocked. The Shokuhou girl the most. Gohan didn't know, but the girl in front of him had the ability to control others. Misaka had a natural defense to it thanks to her electric abilities, and she knew what Shokuhou was doing before it happened. But neither of them would've thought that Gohan wouldn't be affected by her ability.
"I-I see. I'll take my leave then."
They watched Shokuhou walk away as Goten walked back up to them.
"Water fun!"
"Haha… Well, I'm glad you had a good time at our pool. And we should get going, the others should be here soon and your time's almost up. And when we get there…" Misaka looked up from Goten and stared Gohan right in the eyes. "We are going to have a chat. You got that?"
Gohan just tilted his head slightly in confusion. "Sure."
The three made their way through the actual dormitory, ignoring all the eyes that were watching them. Misaka was used to it, since she was a level five, but for some reason she felt more self conscious today.
"Are there usually this many people eyeing you, Misaka?"
"Usually there are some. But I'm pretty sure they're looking at the both of you more than they are me. Just like our Head Resident said, this is a girls dorm. Boys being here almost never happens. Actually, you two might be the first ones."
"That's… reassuring."
"Haha, don't worry we're almost there."
Misaka wasn't joking, her dorm room was just up ahead, and so were some friendly faces.
"Oh, hello Gohan. And hello to you too Goten."
Uiharu and Saten were waiting outside Misaka's room, although Uiharu was slightly blushing. Gohan could also hear what sounded like someone moving around inside the room.
"Hey Misaka, do you have a dorm partner?"
"Hm? Yeah. Why?"
Suddenly, the door swung wide open. Kuroko burst out, arms held wide in an attempt to hug Misaka. Misaka simply activated her ability, setting a small barrier of electricity around her. Kuroko never had a chance.
"That was mean, Sissy!"
"Then don't try to jump me!"
"Haha! Hahaha!"
Everyone looked at Gohan, who just held his finger up. Following his finger, they saw Goten laughing so hard that the other girls in the dorm were coming out of their rooms to see what all the commotion was about.
"We should get inside. More and more people are going to come and try to figure out who made all the racket." Misaka suggested.
"Good idea. Goten, can you be a little quieter please? We don't want to get Misaka in trouble, right?"
"Ok."
"Good. Ok, let's get inside before anyone else sees us."
The group followed Misaka and Kuroko back inside their dorm room. The inside was quite cozy. It had two beds on opposite sides of the room, two desks mirrored each other up against the wall underneath the tall windows. Each side was also fitted with a bookshelf for each student. The room looked like each side was a mirror of the other.
"Sissy, do you even remember what today is?"
"Hm? Is there something special happening today?"
"Think about it, really think about it. What's so important about today?"
"Hmmm. Ah, got it!" Kuroko's face lit up, only to droop back down in the next instance. "It's been one week since I met Uiharu, Saten, Gohan, and Goten! Thanks Kuroko."
"Yeah, no problem Sissy."
Gohan couldn't help but feel a little sad at Kuroko's sudden drop in mood.
"Ah, speaking of Gohan. We still need to have that chat. Can you take us somewhere private real quick?"
"I can. Put your hand on my shoulder, I'll take us there."
Before anyone could even understand what was going on, both Gohan and Misaka vanished from sight.
"Ok, we're here."
"Wow, that might be more convenient than Kuroko's teleportation. Where are we anyway?"
"We're actually outside the city right now. I took us to a remote forest, this should be private enough right?"
"W-Wait, we're outside Academy City?"
"Mhm."
"Wow."
Misaka's eyes just sparkled as she looked at her surroundings. The trees all looked untouched. Like she imagined they would be if people didn't settle nearby. The grass was up to her knees in length. A little ways away, she spotted a deer roaming around the forest, and for a moment she could've sworn that her and the deer locked eyes before it continued walking. A little closer than that, there were small rabbits hopping around on the floor.
"This place is so serene."
"Yup. Having grown up in the woods, I have a knack for locating these kinds of places."
"You grew up in the woods? Wait, that's besides the point. What happened back there? With Shokuhou?"
"What do you mean? I just said no to her proposal. Did I offend her or something? I can go back and apologize if that's the case."
"No no, that's not it. Gohan, do you know what her ability is?"
"Can't say that I do, no."
"-sigh- I didn't think so. Her ability allows her to control the minds of others."
"Wait, seriously? That's actually a thing?"
"Yes. And she tried to use it on you. Emphasis on the word tried. I have an innate protection from it because I can manipulate electricity. But you? You don't have anything like that. So tell me, how'd you resist her?"
"I didn't really do anything, promise. She asked me the question, and then I heard what sounded like a remote for a tv or something. I dismissed it, thinking it was my imagination, and then responded to her. Did I do anything weird?"
"That remote sound you heard wasn't your imagination, she always carries a remote with her. It's how she regulates her ability. That still doesn't explain how you resisted her ability."
"Well, there is one thing I can think of."
"Well, what is it? Don't leave me hanging."
"Well, I believe I've told you I studied martial arts. If not, I studied martial arts. But during my training, I would often meditate. It would always clear my mind. My father and I actually sustained a state similar to that for about a year as well, after I unlocked my latent power."
"Your teleportation ability, right?"
"Well, Super Saiyan. But I can't really tell her that. Yeah. And in order for me to teleport, I need to focus my mind on a specific thing. So I guess my mental resistance is pretty high."
"Well, I guess that explains it. Really, you keep impressing me, Gohan."
"Haha, I don't think what I do is all that impressive. I'm just going through my daily life, that's all."
"Hm, sure. Anyway, we should get back. We don't want to leave the others alone for too long."
"Agreed. I just hope Goten hasn't done anything while we were away."
"Haha, let's hope."
"Alright, we're-"
"Look, I'm Thriller!"
"Hahahaha!"
When both Gohan and Misaka got back, they were greeted by Saten being… 'Thriller'. She was doing some wierd claw-like poses with her hands and was swinging them back and forth. It was a weird sight to come back to.
"Ah, Sissy you're back!" Kuroko turned her attention over to Gohan. "Where did you take her without my permission?"
Kuroko did her best to look intimidating, but Gohan didn't budge. Not when he'd seen far scarier before.
"We just went somewhere more private. Misaka just wanted to talk to me."
"Mmm."
"Don't worry about it, Kuroko. I can tell you about it later."
[Ding]
"Who's ringing our dorm room?" Misaka was the one who answered. "Hello?"
"Hi. I have a delivery. It's for Miss Shirai Kuroko, is this room 208?"
"Yes. But, um, what's the package?"
"They're labeled 'computer parts'."
Kuroko's face was changing incredibly quickly for just some 'computer parts'.
"And who's the sender?"
"It's from Love & Herbs Premier Aphrodisiacs, Ltd."
Kuroko broke. "What's the point if they spell it out like that?!"
"Hey, Kuroko… Why would we need aphrodisiacs?"
"W-Well, I wanted to celebrate our one month anniversary in a small way."
"So you bought… aphrodisiacs?"
Lightning slowly started to arc around Misaka's body.
"It looks like it's going to take quite a bit of harsh treatment to cure you of your devious acts."
"S-Sissy…"
"Now… I'm going to burn you to a crisp!"
Misaka activated her ability, blasting the door off its hinges. Luckily, she was skilled enough with her ability so as to not harm anyone around her except her target. Who had mysteriously disappeared somehow. Misaka ran out of the room just as Kuroko reappeared in the hallway in front of her.
"I cannot let you forget what my ability is, Sissy. If that is how you want it, then it's kill or be killed!"
Everyone else had finally come out of the room.
"If you cannot accept my love, then that is all the more reason to fight me!"
""That's enough.""
Both Misaka and Kuroko turned to the voices, both turning to look in opposite directions. Kuroko turned to look behind her, only to see the Head Resident standing right behind her. Misaka however, turned to look at Gohan who had come to stop them from fighting in the dorm.
"According to Dormitory Rules, Section 9: 'The use of your abilities inside the dorms is strictly prohibited'. Don't tell me that you've forgotten that, Shirai."
"W-Well, hello, how are you, Miss Head Resident?"
"Gohan, why'd you stop us?"
"Wasn't it obvious? I may not know all the rules around here, but surely the use of your abilities inside the buildings isn't allowed. And as a member of Judgment, it's my job to stop that kind of thing."
"But still…"
[Crack]
Gohan and Misaka looked up to see Kuroko being thrown to the side by the Head Resident. To Misaka, it was a horrible sight. But to Gohan, he could tell that she didn't seriously hurt Kuroko. She may have acted mad, maybe she was, but she was more likely just worried. Uiharu, Saten, and Goten had gone back inside the room at the sight of the Head Resident. Both Uiharu and Saten made sure to cover Goten's eyes and ears, just in case. The Head Resident then walked over to Gohan and Misaka.
"Rule breakers need to be punished. Don't you agree, Misaka?"
"Y-Yes…"
"Good. Gohan, you shall watch them and make sure their punishment is carried out."
"Do I have a choice?"
"No."
"Very well then."
"Good. I think I'm starting to like you, you're easy to get along with."
"Thank you. Speaking of which, what's their punishment anyway?"
"For crying out loud… Why do I have to do this? Sure, I might've gotten a little carried away, but still… Cleaning the whole pool is too much by anyone's standards! Gohan, what time is it?"
"Well, you started this morning. It's currently a little past noon. You guys have a little more than 65% left, if you hurry you'll make it before the day's end."
"-sigh- Let's get to it then."
"Damn you Gohan! If you weren't here, I'd finally have some alone time with Sissy. I even brought some aphrodisiacs for the occasion. If only the Head Resident hadn't knocked me out I could've said something."
"Is that Miss Shirai?"
"It is."
Everyone looked to the entrance to the pool area to see two girls walking in, both in what appeared to be the school's swimsuits.
"Miss Shirai, what are you doing down in the pool?"
"They're both cleaning after getting in trouble with the Head Resident yesterday."
Both of the new arrivals looked to the side to see Gohan standing there.
"Oh, who are you? I haven't seen you before."
"That makes sense. My name's Gohan, I'm the newest member of Judgment Branch 177. I'm in charge of making sure these two finish their punishment from the Head Resident."
"Oh dear, what did you two do this time?"
"That is something only we know about, and him."
Everyone couldn't help but notice that Kuroko said that with a hint of aggression, but only Gohan thought nothing of it.
"Anyway, what are you two doing here?"
"Oh, the two of us are a part of the swim team. We came to check on the tank filters. Is that ok, Mr. Gohan?"
"Oh, just Gohan is fine. And of course, go right ahead."
"Thank you."
As the two girls walked to check out the tank filters for the pool, Misaka's curiosity got the better of her.
"Hey Kuroko, are those two friends of yours?"
"Ah, yes. They're my classmates. The one with the short wavy light brown hair is Wannai Kinuho. The one next to her with the longer dark blue hair is Awatsuki Maaya."
"They seem like nice girls."
"Um, excuse me?"
"Hm?"
Misaka turned around to see that Wannai had walked up to her.
"You are… Miss Misaka, correct?"
"Yes, that's me."
"I knew it! Sorry if I'm being rude, but you've actually saved me before. I was surrounded by a bunch of rude gentlemen."
"Oh, did I do that?"
"Yes. I just really wanted to thank you for what you did for me."
The other girl who had come to the pool with her made her way over after finishing up with the water tanks.
"Is she the one, Wannai?"
"Yes, this is her!"
"Wow. It's nice to meet you, Miss Misaka. I'm Awatsuki Maaya."
"It's a pleasure to meet you both."
"Oh, it's quite hot today. I have some sports drink left over if you'd like some."
"Oh, thanks. I'll take it."
No one took notice of Kuroko's mental breakdown just a couple of feet away from them. If you paid enough attention, you could practically see what she was thinking. After finding her resolve, Kuroko looked back to the group…
"My ability is manipulating water currents. After I turn in my checksheet to my teacher, I'd love to come back and help you guys finish this up."
And her resolve got shattered.
"Sure! Well, there might be one problem."
Both girls were confused, until they followed Misaka's gaze. Now, all three of them were watching Gohan as he read a book on one of the pool chairs that were laying around. Wannai and Awatsuki now understood the one wall in their way if they wanted to help Misaka and Kuroko. While they were busy thinking about how it would be a difficult thing to do, Misaka walked up to Gohan, had a small chat with him, and then came back.
"He said he would look the other way. As long as you get your work done first."
"Wow, it was that easy? I thought it would be harder than that."
"Oh no, Gohan's a really nice guy. And his little brother is adorable too. We should all hang out together sometime."
"Sure. By the way, did he tell you what book he was reading? I can't recognize the cover."
"He said it was a small manga called 'I'm a God Now?'. It was by some Spartan guy or something like that. It only has one chapter so far. You'll have to go ask him yourself if you want to know more. Like I said, he's a really nice guy. I bet you'd be good friends if you took the time to get to know him."
"Really? Well, if you're saying that, then he must be a good person. Right Awatsuki?"
"Sure, I wouldn't mind having another friend to hang out with."
"Right? Anyway, we should get going. We'll be right back after we turn this in."
"Ok, see you in a bit."
After the girls left, Kuroko had a bit of a breakdown. Gohan was going to intervene when Misaka suddenly gave him a slight nod. He nodded back and sat back down, as he did Misaka gave Kuroko what looked like a t-shirt. They seemed to be getting along again, so he went back to his book. Until he heard what sounded like a muffled scream. Looking back up, he noticed Kuroko was holding what looked like… underwear?! The hell did he miss in seconds of not watching?! He looked at Misaka who was holding down her skirt. Piecing two and two together, and went to go fix things.
"Kuroko, I'm going to have to ask that you give those back. Because I'm pretty sure they don't belong to you."
"They do. And so does your shirt!"
N-No! Kuroko wait…"
Misaka was a little too late. Kuroko had teleported Gohan's shirt off and onto the other side of the pool. What was left was the full definition of six pack abs. Both girls stopped what they were doing and just stared. They didn't even blink. To Gohan, the not blinking was worse than them staring at his upper body.
"Alright, I'll just take those."
Carefully, he pried the underwear out of Kuroko's hands and gave them back to Misaka.
"Be a little more careful next time, alright?"
"Y-Yeah…"
Still staring, the girls watched Gohan walk over to where his shirt was, put it back on, and sit back down to finish his book. After that whole debacle, Wannai and Awatsuki came back and helped a dazed Misaka and Kuroko finish cleaning the pool. However, Tokiwadia being a top-notch school, they had cameras everywhere. And pictures of the new shirtless Judgement officer were making the rounds faster than you could say 'Crap Baskets'.
