Chapter 1

"Daddy look! I'm Batman!" William exclaimed as he stood up on the backrest of the sofa, wearing a makeshift cape while keeping his balance.

Leonard saw his son and immediately got nervous. "Oh my god what are you doing!? Get down from there before you hurt yourself!" he yelled while running towards his son.

"I'm Batman!" William yelled before jumping off the couch while Leonard immediately got down to catch his son from hitting the floor.

"Ugh! You're so heavy!" Leonard said as he felt his son's body crashing on his chest while the young man laughed and cheered at his acrobatics.

"Let's do it again daddy!" William said while recovering himself from his father who served as his human cushion.

"Oh on you don't...I can't keep catching you!" Leonard said as he sat up on the floor, thankful that his son didn't get hurt. "Ugh...I think I broke my back." he said, touching his lower back.

The door suddenly opened with Penny and Sarah coming in, carrying a few bags of groceries. "Hey guys...looks like you're having fun huh?" Penny said.

"I'm Batman mommy!" William exclaimed, making his sister and mother laugh.

"Of course you are sweetheart!" said Penny as she put the paper bag on the coffee table.

"Don't encourage him...he just jumped off the couch...it's a good thing I caught him on the way down." said Leonard as he stood up.

"Oh my god why did you do that!?" Penny asked her son.

"I wanna be Batman mommy!" said William.

Penny sighed. "Okay fine...but I want you to promise me that you won't jump from the couch again...or any other high place...you got that!?" she said.

"Okay mommy." said William. "Can I go and play in my room?" asked the young man.

Penny smiled and kissed him on the cheek. "Of course sweetheart."

William quickly backed away after Penny was able to land a kiss on his cheek. "Mommy don't do that again!" he protested.

"Why not?" said Penny.

"Because Batman is...just don't kiss me anymore!" said William before turning around and running toward the stairs.

"Hey no running!" Leonard yelled as they saw the young man slowly going up the stairs until they hear him running up again.

"Where does he get all this energy?" Sarah asked as she carried her paper bag to the kitchen.

"I think that's the Nebraskan gene overpowering the New Jersey in him." Leonard said, joining the girls in the kitchen.

"Hey...people from New Jersey are pretty out there too you know?" Penny said, teasing her husband.

"And what does that supposed to mean?" Leonard asked.

"Come on Leonard, you know exactly what I mean." Penny said, giving her husband a straight look.

"Fine..now we know what happens when you mix genes from the Switzerland of America with the Beef State." he said, making Penny and Sarah laugh.

"Why do I have to wake her up?" asked William.

"Because you're the youngest." Sarah said as she carried a glass or orange juice by the couple's bedroom.

"I don't know...I'm scared that mom might rip my head off." said the young man.

"Listen buddy, just go in there and hug your mother tight...then give her a kiss on her cheek and I'm pretty sure she won't get mad at you." said Leonard who was carrying the breakfast tray as a surprise for Penny on Mother's Day. "Come on, we're right behind you." he added.

"Okay daddy...I'll do it for mommy." said William as he slowly opened the door, seeing Penny still sleeping on the bed with a pillow over her face. Leonard looked at his son and nodded, telling him to snuggle up to his mother. William slowly climbed on the bed, snuggling up to his mother and kissing her cheek. "Good morning mommy." he said, hoping Penny won't be mad at him for waking her up.

"Mimmm." Penny mumbled.

"Mommy wake up...we made breakfast for you." said William, kissing his mother.

Penny slowly opened her eyes, seeing her son looking at her. "Huh? What's happening?" she asked, seeing her husband and daughter looking down at her.

"Happy Mother's Day mom!" Sarah said.

"Come on mommy...get up." William said, pulling on his mother's arm.

"Ugh...that is so nice sweetheart...thank you!" Penny said, touched by her family's gesture even though her hair was all over the place. "You guys just give me two minutes okay? I'll just freshen up..." she said before jumping off the bed and running to the bathroom. After quickly washing up, Penny came back to the bedroom where her family is waiting.

"Come on mommy...your food is getting cold." William said, pulling her onto the bed.

"Okay okay...jeez." Penny said while tying her hair into a bun before sitting on the bed. "That smells so nice." she said while looking at the food tray.

"This was Sarah's idea." Leonard said, putting the tray carefully on the bed.

"Awww...thank you sweetheart..." said Penny, pulling Sarah in to kiss her cheek.

"I helped too mommy!" William said, sitting beside his mother.

"Of course you did...come here." Penny said, pulling her son to kiss him as well. "Mommy loves you so much!" she added.

"What about me?" said Leonard.

"Daddy helped with the stove mommy...so we wouldn't get burned." said William, making his parents laugh.

"He did huh?" Penny said, amused by her son.

"I love you honey." Leonard said before kissing Penny on the lips.

"Thank you honey...this is so nice...and looks delicious too..." said Penny, before forking a piece of pancake.

"Mommy you should put some syrup on it." William reminded her.

"Oh right...I almost forgot." Penny said, pouring a bit of syrup on the pancake before taking another bite.

"How is it?" asked the young boy.

"Do you wanna try?" Penny asked, knowing that her son wouldn't say no.

William bowed his head and hesitated. "Uh...it's alright mommy...today is your day..." he said, making them smile.

"Come on..." Penny said, forking a bit of pancake and bringing it near her son. "It's alright sweetheart..." she said.

William leaned over and ate the piece of pancake, smiling after tasting the sweet bread. "It's delicious mommy." he said.

"Your kids made cards for you too." said Leonard, pointing at the envelope on the tray.

Penny picked it up and opened the envelope. "You guys made this?" she asked her kids, touched by the thoughtful gesture from them.

"Big sister helped me with mine mommy." William said, making his parents laugh.

"Why don't you read it for me sweetheart?" Penny told her son, giving the card to him.

"Okay..." said William, before clearing his throat. "You're the best mommy in the world...I love you mommy!" said the young man, making Penny shed a tear at how affectionate her son is.

"Thank you sweetie...I love it...it's perfect." Penny said, hugging her son tight before kissing him again.

"Okay my turn." said Sarah, taking the card before reading it. "Mom...thank you for always being there for me...I'm so lucky to have you as my mother." she said as Penny pulled her close, kissing her as well.

"Thank you sweetheart..." Penny said. "Ugh! I'm the luckiest mother in the world!" she added, hugging her kids tight.

"Daddy said that we're gonna go to the mall today." William said as Penny continued eating, giving some of her food to her son from time to time.

"We're gonna do whatever your mom wants buddy...if she wants to go to the mall, we can do that...or if she wants to do something else...it's totally fine too." Leonard said, giving her wife the glass of orange juice.

"Thank you honey..." Penny said as she continued eating with William 'helping' her finish the breakfast.

"Ugh that was so good...thanks guys, I really appreciate it." said Penny as she started cleaning up. "Why don't you help me with this..." she told her children.

William quickly got off the bed. "That's not our job mommy." said the young man, surprising his parents.

"Uh...what do you mean?" asked Penny.

"Our deal was to make you breakfast...not to clean up the dishes." William said as he pulled Sarah's hand toward the door.

"He's right mom...happy Mother's Day!" said the young lady, laughing at her baby brother's cleverness.

"Don't worry mommy, today is your day so daddy will clean it up for you!" William said, before running out of the bedroom following his big sister. "Hurry up, before daddy gets us!" he yelled as they scurry along the hall while laughing at their success.

"I can't believe this." Leonard said, taking a deep breath to not lose patience.

"Well...it's your fault for giving them that big brain of yours!" Penny said, amused by her children.

"You're really enjoying this aren't you?" he asked his wife.

"I am." said Penny, giving him a smug smile.

Leonard took the food tray and set it aside before locking the door. "Well, now that we're alone, I think it's time to give you my gift." he said while undoing his robe.

"Hmmm...this must be my lucky day." Penny said, understanding her husband's intent. "Come here...your wife needs you..." she said as Leonard pinned her down before kissing her lips.

"We'll make it quick..." said Leonard. "...and we'll have another one tonight." he added while opening Penny's robe.

"Happy Father's Day!" yelled Sarah and William while shaking Leonard on the bed to wake him up.

"Huh!" Leonard said, quickly opening his eyes and reaching for his glasses. "What happened!?"

"It's Father's Day daddy...we made you breakfast!" said William.

"What?" asked Leonard.

"Didn't you hear? We made you breakfast in bed daddy!" said the young boy.

"Aww...that is so nice...thanks buddy...I don't know what to say." he said, touched by his family's thoughtful gesture.

"Well this young man has been bugging me about this for the past few days..." Penny said as she placed the food tray on the bed. "Here you go honey...coffee and your favorite cinnamon roll." she added.

"Looks good..." said Leonard before forking out a piece of bread to eat. "Yeah...this is great." he said.

"The kids also made cards...sweetheart, you want to read what you made for your daddy?" Penny asked her son.

"Okay mommy..." said William before showing the card he made for his father. "Daddy, I love you and I hope you live forever." said the young man, making Leonard smile.

"Thank you buddy...I love it..." said Leonard while looking at the card that his son made.

"Sarah sweetheart...you're up." said Penny.

Sarah held out her card and took a deep breath. "Dad, thank you for taking good care of me even if it was just the two of us..." Sarah said before leaning over to hug her father, obviously overcome by emotion.

"Aww...it's alright honey...I love you so much." said Leonard, kissing his daughter's cheek.

Sarah let go before wiping her tear. "Sorry about that." said the young lady.

"Come on guys...sit next to me." he told his children as he shared the food with his kids.

After almost ten minutes...

"Ugh...thanks guys...it was delicious..." Leonard said as he drank his orange juice when Sarah and William started walking away, obviously trying to avoid cleaning up the food tray. "Wait..where are you guys going?" he asked his children.

"Uh...mom's gonna help you clean up." said William, giving them a playful look.

"Yeah...come on..." Sarah said, pulling his brother out.

"Are you really gonna make me clean up this mess?" Leonard asked.

"You're right dad...it's Father's Day so mom will clean it up." William said before hurriedly turning around, making Leonard laugh.

Penny took a deep breath and curled her lip. "You two stop right there!" Penny yelled, making the kids freeze in their tracks. "If you take one more step, I promise I'm gonna go to your room and throw out all your stuff...including all of your toys!" she yelled.

"But..." William said, choking on his words when he saw how serious his mother is.

"Do you really expect me to fall for that move?" Penny asked her kids, giving them a serious look.

"I told you it won't work." Sarah quietly told her little brother.

William looked up to his big sister. "Okay...we got careless."

"Well?" asked Penny, folding her arms.

The kids turned around and gave Penny a smug smile, seemingly teasing her. "Relax mommy...can't you take a joke!?" William said as they went back to help her clean up the food tray.

"Don't be such a smart-ass young man...don't you think I don't know where you got that sassiness from?" Penny asked her son.

"You also gave me your good looks mommy!" William said, quickly softening his mother up.

"Your sister taught you to say that huh?" asked Penny, rolling her eyes.

Sarah leaned over and kissed Penny on the cheek. "You know me so well mom." she said, earning a smile from Penny.

"Fine...now help me clean up this mess." said Penny as the kids walked up to help their mother. "Why don't you help your sister carry these downstairs?" she told her son.

"Don't worry mommy...we got it..." said the young man, making his parents laugh.

"Thank you sweetheart...and be careful on the stairs okay?" said Penny as Sarah and William leave the bedroom carrying the food tray. She then faced her husband and gave him a lovely smile. "They may be smart and sassy but they can't win against this corn-fed Nebraskan sass!" she said, making her husband laugh.

"You are just amazing!" said Leonard, pulling her close and kissing her lips. "You know...I could make you feel better too!" Leonard said, winking at her.

"What about the kids?" asked Penny, who knew what her husband meant.

Leonard quickly got off the bed and locked the door before removing his robe. "We'll be quick..." he said, joining his wife on the bed. "And we'll have another one tonight." he added as Penny pulled him in.

"Shut up and come here." Penny said, quickly locking her husband around her arms while undoing her robe to let Leonard in.
