The Diary kept by Fitzwilliam Darcy from the start of Ramsgate to his wedding day. Mr Darcy is a private man but he does need to rant once in a while about his tenderness for Geogiana, hatred of Mr Wickham and ardent love for the unsuitable Miss Bennet. E/D

10. Entry 10

The world is a cruel place. Not that I did not know that. Why did I expect to not be let down? I would not know.

I had told myself that if I never saw that blackguard again, it would be too soon. Apparently, I did not suffer enough. Not only is he here, at Hertfordshire, but he has managed to get acquainted with the Bennets.
