Disclaimer: I do not own My Hero Academia or any of its characters. The "Erasermic Week 2021" prompt list is by EMWeek2k21 of Twitter. I didn't want the stories to lean too much in Hizashi's or Shouta's views, but for this prompt, I couldn't decide which one to commit to, so I decided to do them both.
So, here's a "two for the price of one" special!
You Snooze, You Lose
(Erasermic Week 2021 Day 5: Sleeping)
A
Hizashi suspected something when he heard Eri giggling to herself.
He lifted his head, ignoring the laptop in front of him with the set plan and lesson plans scattered around the screen. Green eyes looked to where the noise had come from.
It was entirely possible that Eri was just laughing over something that didn't concern anyone.
Then again… checking on her would give him a break from the heavy workload in front of him…
Hizashi hummed, setting down his tea mug and stretching up from his chair. A small yawn bubbled up from his chest, and as he walked from the kitchen/dining room nook to the living room, he stretched his arms behind his head.
Afternoon sunlight streamed in from the dorm's windows. The large couch, enough for four people, took up most of the room's space, though the seven cat trees lined around the room's walls did their part in taking up space. Blankets and soft quilts draped over the couch's top, a collection of warm colors matching the autumn weather outside. Black hair draped over the right side of the couch, and the corner of a white pillowcase poked up from under the strands.
Another soft giggle and a "What do you think, Dr. Fluffy?" came from the couch area.
Hizashi had been around kids long enough to know when trouble was coming.
He flicked his eyes to the floor, neatly stepping around a few cats that were busy making their daily rounds around their house, staying as quiet as he could. "Little listener… Eri…" he murmured, keeping his volume low. "Shouta wanted to take a nap, so we need to let him have his slee-"
He turned around the left arm of the couch and found Eri sitting on top of Shouta's chest.
With a green marker in her hand.
And a very happy smile on her face.
Hizashi bit his bottom lip.
On the coffee table next to Eri, three cats sat watching her. They had a penchant for following her around, mainly because she was the most interesting person in the house to all the cats, but with the way all three of them swiveled their gazes to Hizashi, the blonde had a feeling that they were upset at the sudden interruption to their entertainment.
The blonde craned his neck to see the damage.
Eri hadn't done too much so far, thankfully. Green dots peppered the tops of Shouta's cheeks. Freckles. Freckles that were obviously inspired by one of Eri's favorite heroes…
"Hi dad!" she whispered. Her body bounced up-and-down in excitement, and the little girl held up her marker. "I'm making dad look good!" The marker pointed to the three cats staring at her. "Dr. Fluffy, Mouse, and Miss Midnight are watching me!"
Hizashi didn't know how to properly hide his surprise, but he looked over to the three cats and sent them a 'you're supposed to watch over her better' look.
One of the cats yawned, flicked her tail in Hizashi's direction, and then began licking her paw to swipe at her ears. The other cats just turned their attention back to the child.
With a soft sigh, Hizashi maneuvered around the edges of the blanket spilling onto the floor and his husband's limp right hand against the living room's rug. He lowered himself on his knees next to Eri, resting a gentle hand on her back. "I don't know if this is the best idea, little listener."
Eri's face scrunched up in confusion. A beat of quiet passed, and then she brightened up. Her hands grabbed at the drawing pressed between her right leg and the couch cushion.
Hizashi found a drawing of a stick-figure Shouta with cat features shoved very close to his face.
"Dad wants to be a cat," Eri said simply. "One time after Lemillion told me his greatest wish I asked dad what his greatest wish was and he said he wants to be a kitty so I'm gunna make him into a kitty."
"I know, Eri." Hizashi looked to Shouta, who was still dead to the world. "But I don't think Shouta would like you drawing on his face while he sleeps…"
She pouted, huffing a strong sigh. "But how else can I make him a kitty? Look-"
In a moment, Eri put her hand over Shouta's right cheek and dragged the marker along the unmarked area of his cheek.
The blonde bit his lip hard to not cry out something that would wake his husband.
When Eri was done, she tilted Shouta's head to the side so Hizashi could see her work. Three green lines, like cat whiskers, decorated the dark-haired man's cheeks.
"See?" she stated. "He's gunna look like such a pretty kitty cat when I'm done."
He probably needed to stop it.
"Shouta wanted to take a small nap, little listener. Don't you think you might wake him up with your funny business?"
"Nope." Eri turned back to Shouta, tilting his head to the other side so she could draw cat whiskers along the other cheek. "He didn't have coffee with lunch. When dad doesn't have coffee, he's very hard to wake up."
She had a point there… and she was doing a pretty good job of doodling the whiskers on Shouta's face…
He'd get in trouble for encouraging it. As a responsible parent, he needed to step in and stop it before his husband's face ended up filled with a rainbow of colors. Shouta would give him a disappointed stare and he'd get into trouble for it.
Then again, if he participated… Shouta was always a softie when it came to Eri…
"Think I could help you out, little listener?"
Glee lit up Eri's face.
Mischief twinkled in his eyes, and Hizashi held out his hand to the little girl. "Well, if we wanna help Shouta become a kitty, then we need to get started. He'll need a pink kitty nose now, right?"
Eri giggled as she handed him the pink marker. "He needs a kitty tail too!" she stated, setting her hands on her hips in a matter-of-fact fashion. "And whiskers on his head and kitty ears!"
"I can tie up his hair and give him a little pony tail! And as for kitty ears…"
When Shouta woke up, the late afternoon sun beamed into his eyes.
A soft groan left him as he ran a tired hand over his forehead. With all the work he had done in the past week, it had been a triumph to make it to Sunday. A day off was more than enough to recharge his social batteries for the upcoming week. He had needed that na-
Fingers touched cool plastic, and a slight ache pinched his head around his ears, something that he only got when… he wore a cheap head ornament…
Shouta sat up, fully awake. Confusion washed over him, and he slowly rose from the couch. Three of the house cats stayed asleep on the coffee table as he folded the blanket and hung it over the top of the couch.
The moment he finished putting the blanket back in its place, he headed straight for the bathroom. It took him a couple long strides. He flicked on the light, and surprise flooded his chest when his eyes looked into the mirror.
His face was covered in colorful marker. Green whispers and freckles filled up almost every centimeter of his cheeks. Jagged purple lines and a few more green whiskers slashed across his forehead. Red hearts lined his entire jawline, and pink color covered the lower bit of his nose. His hair was wrapped up in a tight, but messy ponytail. A glittery, cat-eared plastic headband sat on top of his head.
What on Earth had happened while he was asleep?
Two voices drifted over from the kitchen. The telltale banging and clashing of pots and pans signaled the preparation of dinner, and both Hizashi and Eri's singing echoed from the other room away. English lyrics, something Hizashi was helping Eri through, mixed with the tunes that came from the speaker Hizashi had put in the kitchen.
Shouta shook his head, then felt his phone vibrate in his pants pocket. Curious, he fished the phone out of his pocket, unlocking the phone and swiping to the messages that had filled the UA teachers' group chat while he had been asleep.

SniperNoSniping: Almost done with patrolling the grounds. West grounds are clear of suspicious activity, and more than several students are enjoying the afternoon playing sports on one of the grassy fields.
Midmorning: Same to report here. East grounds are clear, but ughhh, this patrol's been super boring and draining
Midmorning: Anyone got any cute pet pictures or anything to help stimulate my bored brain
BlondeBanana: I got one!
Shouta scrolled down, and his eyes popped wide with shock.
A picture of him fast asleep on the couch, face covered in colorful marker, sat in the group chat. Eri sat on his chest and ended up in the right side of the picture. The cheer in her smile warmed his heart, but the warmth instantly washed away when he looked to the left side of the picture.
Half of Hizashi's face was shown, tongue sticking out in a silly manner, like he had been posing with Eri for the picture.
Midmorning: OH MY GOD
Midmorning: IM SAVING THAT
Midmorning: SHOUTAS SO CUTE!
BlondeBanana: The little listener heard that Shouta wanted to be a cat, so she got right to business! I pitched in. How's he lookin'? Cat material?
Nedsnooze: Ehehee, that's quite the adorable photo.
Midmorning: Blackmail material you mean :P
CemenTossItUp: Shouta's going to have quite the facewash when he wakes up…
AlRight: I may save that as well, but are you sure Shouta would be okay with it? The marker thing, I mean.
BlondeBanana: Uhhh, well… Eri did most of the work…
A snort left Shouta as he closed the message app and slipped the phone back into his pocket. He didn't need to read the other messages until later. 'Eri did most off the work' his behind…
He ducked out of the bathroom and headed for the kitchen.
At the stove, carefully making sure Eri was safe on the stool next to him, was Hizashi. The blonde danced to the rhythm of the song, bumping his hips softly against a hopping Eri. She bobbed up-and-down, still a little uncoordinated for any dance move. Hizashi kept his gaze on her, encouraging her to move her arms with her legs.
She was having a lot of trouble. In a moment, Hizashi slipped her tiny hands into his own, helping her hop off the kiddy stool and twisting his hips in time with hers.
Their loud laughter reverberated off every surface.
Any frustration Shouta had vanished. Something about seeing his little daughter, dressed up in a light blue dress with cats on the fabric and black leggings, dancing with his husband, who wore his hair down and loose sleep clothes hanging off his body, was just… magical.
"Hey, there he is!" Hizashi looked up from Eri and towards Shouta's direction. "What's shakin', bacon? And why the smile? Did you dream up somethin' nice?"
The view in front of him was better than any dream he could have, but he wasn't about to admit that to the two people that used his face as coloring paper.
Shouta leaned against the open doorway into the kitchen, forcing the smile off his face. "I saw what you two did to my face."
Immediately, both of them stopped dancing. Embarrassment flushed Hizashi's face while Eri bounded up to him.
"Do you like it, Dad?" she asked. "You said you wanted to be a kitty cat so when I asked Dr. Fluffy what I should do to make that happen he said that I had to give you cat stuff to make you look like a cat and then I grabbed my markers and-"
When Eri was hyper enough, she gave Hizashi a run for his money with how fast and loudly she could talk.
Shouta waved his hands, quieting her down a bit. "It looks lovely," he said. There was no way he was going to say that he didn't like it. "But next time, I think you should keep your artistic talents to paper, okay?"
Eri made a little pout, but then smiled and nodded her head. "Okay, Dad…"
Dark eyes lifted to the enabler. Hizashi had his back to Shouta, focusing on the food in the pan and whistling innocently. He could envision the little halo over the blonde's head.
"Eri, can I see the markers you used?"
The whistling stopped, and an "Oh… shoot" came from Hizashi.
Eri rushed over to the table where a box of markers and Hizashi's laptop cluttered the table's surface. She snagged the box and toddled back over to Shouta. The box lifted, and Eri gave Shouta a clear view of the markers. "These ones, Dad!"
The absence of the "Washable" label was concerning, as was the presence of the "Permanent" label.
Shouta looked back up to Hizashi. His lips thinned into a fine line, and he crossed his arms over his chest. All of his attention turned to the blonde.
"Eri, don't you think your other dad needs to have a pretty face, too? We don't want him to feel left out…"
The moment Eri turned her head to Hizashi, Shouta's mouth curled up into an evil smile.
Hizashi dropped the wooden spoon, barely catching it before it hit the countertop. "Shou! We have classes tomorrow!"
"Perhaps you should have thought of that before you marked up my face." He looked down to Eri and nodded his head toward his husband. "Go on. He'll need to look very pretty by the time dinner's ready. I've always heard students describe him as a twittery bird…"
Eri sucked in a breath, vibrating with excitement.
"But, uhh, I gotta make dinner! Can't stop now, or the food'll burn!"
"I can take over making dinner." Shouta couldn't wipe the grin off his face.
That was all Eri needed to know.
She bolted over to Hizashi's side, pulling at his pants. "Come on, Dad, we gotta make you look super pretty, like Dad." The girl leaned against the blonde's side and pushed against him. "We gotta go to the living room. My assistants are there, and they'll help you get all set up."
Hizashi threw Shouta a pleading glance as the dark-haired man stepped up to take his place at the stove.
With a simple pluck, Shouta snatched the wooden spoon out of Hizashi's hand. "You heard our young artist. I'll take care of dinner. You go sit in the living room and let her make your face pretty."
The sad, puppy dog look on Hizashi's face was more than enough payback as Eri led the blonde into the living room, the little girl chattering away at what she wanted to do.
Shouta cast a quick look at the food in the pan. The pork still needed some time to cook all the way through, and the vegetables frying with it looked like they had just been put in the pan a few minutes prior.
While the meat and veggies sizzled in the pan, Shouta fished out his phone.

ResidentCatNapper: Hello.
Midmorning: Oh hey Shouta!
Midmorning: So… how do you like your new look ;P
ResidentCatNapper: I enjoy it. Though Hizashi may enjoy his more…
Midmorning: !
ResidentCatNapper: Eri's working on him right now. Pictures soon.
And when Eri finished, Hizashi's face covered in little blue birds and circular feathers, Shouta made sure to take plenty of pictures of the three of them. It was worth it, even if his students went into an uproar when they saw him…
B
Patrols from the evening hours into the early morning hours were the worst, but Eraserhead and Hound Dog were the only two that could handle the late hours. The school called in other heroes from time-to-time to aid in patrolling the school, but the teachers that worked there already had knowledge of every nook-and-cranny someone with bad intentions could hide in.
So, when two in the morning rolled around and Shouta's patrol finally ended, he had little hope that anyone else would be awake.
The brick walkway back to the teacher's dorm was a blissfully silent one. Cricket-song rose up from the grassy sides, bathing the night with a sleepy lullaby. A gentle breeze swept through the atmosphere, chilling the autumn night further. Moonlight filled in what the streetlamps' light couldn't.
The night had a certain beauty to one who fought under the cover of it.
Shouta held back a yawn as he turned onto the path up to the teachers' dorm. Patrol hadn't revealed anything he hadn't already known. A slow, quiet evening. Something he much rather preferred than dealing with teens trying to sneak outside school grounds or villains trying to sneak onto the same grounds.
The dorm hallways were equally silent when he went through them. No other teachers staying out late or moving out to go discipline their students into behaving…
Everything went smoothly.
Shouta took the elevator up to the third floor and stepped through the hallway to his home (the thought of whether it would have been faster just to climb the tree next to the building and go through his room's window striking him once or twice). His hand fished for the keys in his hero costume's pocket, and as he slipped into his apartment, a sigh of relief left him.
Only a half an hour more, and he'd be in bed.
He closed the door, and when he turned around, he caught a splash of blonde hair in his peripheral vision.
Socked feet slid out of heavy boots. Shouta padded through the apartment, dropping the keys back into his pocket. He craned his neck, looking over the edge of his capture weapon, and stepped around the left arm of the couch.
There, fast asleep under two large blankets, were Hizashi and Eri. The blonde was pressed back against the sofa's backrest, head tilted back over the couch top and mouth wide open. A black blanket with tiny yellow microphone designs covered him from the waist down. Eri had her head over Hizashi's lap, arms flopped over the blonde's legs. Her mouth was open as well, and a small pool of drool leaked from her mouth. Both of them were wearing their pajamas, and Shouta suspected they had tried to have a pajama party in the living room while they waited for him.
The television was blue with light, but even the bright light wasn't enough to wake either person.
One corner of Shouta's mouth perked up higher than the other, and soft love warmed his chest.
He picked up the remote and shut off the television, blanketing the room in darkness. Once his eyes adjusted to the new environment, he gently hooked his arms under Eri and lifted the girl from Hizashi's lap. Her arms wrapped around his neck.
A few cats, the ones that still weren't asleep, followed him into Eri's room. Shouta laid the little girl down in her bed, pulling up the blankets over her limp body. As cats hopped onto the bed and snuggled up at different positions around the girl's body, Shouta pressed a soft kiss to Eri's forehead, right where the hairline and forehead met.
Eri stayed still and silent. Drool began to drip down onto her pillow.
Shouta stepped out of her room, pulling over the door and leaving a crack wide enough for the cats to leave if they so wished. It was quick work to head back to the couch, fold up Eri's blanket, and hang it over the top of the couch top.
"Hizashi…"
The blonde had most likely taken his hearing aids out already, but it hadn't hurt to try.
With a firm hand, Shouta sank his hands under Hizashi's arms and pulled him up from the couch. Immediately, the blonde stirred, murmuring into Shouta's shoulder.
"Mm… 'm awake…"
"Bed. Taking you there."
Hizashi mumbled something, but he seemed to know what Shouta was planning.
The two of them hobbled to their shared room, Hizashi leaning against Shouta for support. It took some time, but once Shouta got the blonde over to the bed, Hizashi flopped against the mattress and crawled under the blankets. He stilled, and as Shouta rearranged the glasses and hearing aid case at Hizashi's nightstand, a snore rose from his husband.
There was nothing in the world that could convince Shouta to give up what amazing people he had.
He ran through his nightly routine quickly, peeling off his hero costume and changing into light pajamas. A quick comb of his hair, a brush of his teeth, using the restroom before bed…
The time, 2:34 in the morning, flashed on the alarm clock as Shouta finally joined his husband in bed.
Hizashi cuddled up behind him once the blankets were over the both of them. He molded his body along Shouta's back, wrapping his arms over the dark-haired man's body.
"'M missed you…" he mumbled, breathing hard against the back of Shouta's neck.
He found Hizashi's hand and gave it a loving squeeze. The blonde made a sound, but nothing intelligible.
It didn't take long for Shouta to fall asleep, but the last thought on his mind was how grateful he was for the people in his life.
Song Inspo: "boyfriend" by Ariana Grande (ft. Social House).
Thought the first one was going to be a quick drabble, but that one went out of control, and I didn't have the heart to cut the second one, so… two prompt fills for this one prompt. I feel pretty proud about this one, and I feel better about the way I write Mic and Aizawa. I think I'm starting to understand how I want to write their characters?
Nonetheless, I hope you all enjoyed, and thank you all so much for reading and supporting!
