Chapter 7 – She's dead?!

Krillen flew as fast as he could to capsule corp, the sooner he got the blueprints to Bulma and Her father, the better. He arrived at her Lab Finally and handed them the blueprints. Dr Briefs Took a look and investigated

'Wait, so you're saying he had a sub-lab?' Bulma asked

'Yeah Trunks and I took care of it after we retrieved those plans, and killing the cell in this timeline, so could they be valuable Dr Briefs?' Krillen asked

'I believe so, It's a good thing Gero was very detailed with his creations, all the parts he used and programmed, the modelling although cruel to the patients, its fascinating at the same time, he always had an ambitious mind, but never thought it could be anything like this. Let's see here' Dr Briefs took a look at the plans and found something 'Oh look, there's bombs in the androids! I could probably make a detonator for that.' He said

'A Detonator? Are you sure dad? that's a little extreme' Bulma said

'I know sweetheart, but what other option is there, we can't let This Cell creature join teams with these androids can we? We must do what we can'

'I suppose so, Give me those plans, I'll see what I can do' Bulma said looking at the plans with her dad

'I don't know, do you really have to blow them up?' Krillen asked feeling uneasy

'Why do you care? They're mostly just machinery at this point. Well sort of, it would seem some functions are still in tact' Dr Briefs said looking over the plans

'Such as?' Bulma asked

'Well, their hormonal functions are still in working order through their bodies, hair can still grow, and they can still reproduce'

'So they can still do all the things human can do, its just they've been reprogrammed to be faster and stronger' Bulma deduced

'Exactly' Dr Briefs nodded

'Interesting, so she can still have children.' Krillen said to himself

'Yeah but why do you care?' Bulma asked

'Oh! Uhh. No reason' He said sweating a little

'Okay so Anyway, where's everyone else right now?' Bulma asked

'Well, Piccolo and the others are searching for Cell, then they were gonna head back to Kame house, So, hopefully that's going well. And Trunks went off to find Vegeta...Best of luck there...'

'And any update on Goku?' Bulma asked

'Oh, he's still caring for Chichi. She's Probably still asleep.' Krillen replied

'Poor chi, you heading back to Kame house now?' Bulma asked

'Yeah! Better go get updated on the situation'

'I'll come with you, I wanna visit her, then I'll come back and see if I can get started on a detonator for the androids' Bulma said and picked up baby Trunks

'You're bringing the baby?'

'Yeah, I think Chichi would like it' Bulma smiled as Krillen nodded

'I'll see if I can some parts together for the detonator' Dr Briefs said

'Right!' Bulma said as Krillen lifts her up and takes of into the sky

Goku and Gohan listened to Piccolo's story about the Cell character and looked at one another, a being stronger than the androids? That would be an issue, especially Goku, he hadn't been training or fighting since taking care of Chichi and it had been 9 days already. Time was flying by and Chichi needed to show signs of recovery. Goku knew there was something he and Gohan can do but he wasn't gonna place the plan into action yet.

'That's pretty much it, Now he's out there causing havoc and he'll eventually catch up to the other androids. Sooner or later, they will come here. Goku you need to get out there and stop them!' Piccolo instructed

'Piccolo I understand the situation and I can assure you that I will be back. But not before I know chichi will be ok.' Goku frowned

'It's been 9 days! How long is this gonna last!?'

'How am I meant to know! All we can do is wait it out'

'Piccolo. Please understand, We'd rather fight knowing that mom is okay otherwise we'll be distracted' Gohan said

'Exactly'

'Great and In the meantime, you both aren't prepared to fight. You're gonna need time in order to be prepared for The androids and Cell!'

'I know! And I have an idea on that' Goku answered

'What idea dad?' Gohan asked

'I'll explain later Gohan, But until then. Piccolo I know you can hold them off for now at least, Please, understand this situation'

'I understand it Goku, doesn't mean I like it' Piccolo huffed but then turned to chichi and his face grew soft 'How is she doing?' He asked

'She hasn't screamed anything since her last dosage, I think she may be getting better' Gohan said confidently and turned to look at his mom who turned in her sleep, suddenly he saw a glimmer of hope 'DAD LOOK!' He cheered as Goku looked his wife and his eyes lit up in hope His wife was Smiling In her sleep!

'She's… She's smiling!' Goku gasped

'Yeah she is! I don't believe it! She must be getting better right dad!?' Gohan asked

'I think you're right Gohan! She must be! Come on Chi, You can come back to us! You'll be back with us in no time' Goku smiled stroking his wife's hair

'This is good news, it would seem the antidote is finally taking effect on her for the better' Piccolo smiled

'Yeah! Dad we gotta call Grandpa and give him an update'

'Right! You do it Gohan, I'll stay here with you're mom'

'Right! Be right back!' Gohan cheered and ran out of the room

'I'm heading downstairs, I'll tell the others' Piccolo said and went to leave the room

'Piccolo, Gohan and I will be ready, I promise' Goku said as Piccolo turned to look at him

'I hope so Goku, Cause it's gonna take at least a year's worth of training to be ready for Cell' He answered and left the room, Goku looked down at chichi who was smiling softly in her sleep and he kissed her cheek

'I love you so much Chichi. You'll be back soon. I promise' He whispered and stayed at her side. He had a plan on how to be ready for Cell. And it was gonna take a year.

…

Meanwhile far away across the mountains, in the deserted home of Goku, Chichi and Gohan. A Pink Van pulled up next t the house and out stepped the 3 androids who were ready for a fight or an assassination.

'So this is it huh?' Its smaller than I imagined' 17 said

'If Goku is here, I request you leave him to me to destroy' 16 instructed

'Not a problem 16. We should go inside, they could be planning to attack us when we least expect it' 18 said

'Agreed, so why don't you go inside and check it out sis?' 17 smirked

'Great leave me to do the dirty work?'

'You're not scared are you 18?'

'Please! You clearly underestimate me 17' 18 answered

'If you should run into trouble, we will assist' 16 said as 18 nodded as she walked up the house and kicked the door down

'Huh? Seems quiet… too quiet.' She said and walked into the house and looked around, it would seem they weren't here, she walked into the bedroom and looked around, she suddenly saw the wardrobe open and she smirked

'Hmmmmmm….. it would seem they may be hiding' she said to herself, she walked up to the wardrobe and quickly opened it

'AHA!' She called out but there was no one there, she suddenly caught her eye on some of Chichi's dresses and grinned

'I guess a rummage wouldn't hurt' she said and began to look at them all and check herself out in the mirror, she said no to several of Chichi's clothes and was making mess. Meanwhile 17 and 16 waited outside and were getting impatient.

'So, 18, what's it look like in there?' 17 shouted into the house as 18 was looking at one of Chi-Chi's clothes in a mirror

'It looks like Goku's wife is a Chinese princess. Seriously, I'm glad she's my size, but who wears this junk?' she scoffed and dropped the dresses on the ground and walked to the chest of draws, she found some things that could work for her. She pulled out some stuff and got dressed. By the end, she was wearing a black mini vest with a golden triangle pin, a white short sleeve undershirt with a pearl necklace, dark teal jeans with a golden chain, a brown belt, a pair of short black gloves with a gold bracelet on the left one, and black flats with orange socks. She looked at herself and smirked

'Guess the girl has some taste' she grinned and walked out of the house and reunited with 17 and 16

'Are you finished?' 17 asked

'Yes I am, now that I got a new set of clothes' she answered

'So I'm presuming that since you were allowed to rummage through their stuff, Goku wasn't there?' 17 asked

'Oh, no, place is empty. Seems they've been gone a while'

'Huh. Didn't figure Goku for a runner.'

'Well, if I were a guessing girl, I'd say they're at Kame House.'

'But that's like the second place we'd look…. Right?' 17 asked

'Then it is confirmed, That is the second place we shall look' 16 ordered

'Hmm, but it's on an island, so we better begin flying there' 17 said and levitated into the air

'We outta get there fast. I can imagine he's gonna put up a fight when he sees us coming' 18 added

'Agreed, and we will be prepared' 16 said as the 3 androids took off into the sky.

Back at Kame house, Krillen and Bulma arrived at the house. Yamcha kept watching the news about Cell as Krillen watched with him, Bulma walked up the stairs and knocked on the bedroom door and walked in to see Goku and Gohan next to Chichi who was still sleeping.

'Hey Bulma, what brings you here?' Goku greeted

'Thought I'd come by, I wanted to see how Chichi was doing' Bulma said as she held trunks in her arms, Gohan offered her his chair as Bulma sat down with Trunks on her lap

'I'll be back later, I'll bring back some more hot water' Gohan said and left the room, leaving Goku and Bulma to talk, Trunks was making a lot of baby noises making Goku chuckle

'He's a sweet kid Bulma' Goku said

'I know, Thanks Goku, He's defiantly got my features but I can see his father in him too' Bulma responded

'Speaking of which…'

'Yeah…'

'I Gotta ask and I don't want to sound creepy, but…. How did it happen? I thought you hated the guy'

'Well I did, But then something strange happened, You see, I think the best thing that describes Vegeta and me is this: we are complete opposites but at the same time we are exactly the same' Bulma said. Goku gave her a puzzled expression and she continued.

'Huh?'

'Have you ever met a woman more stubborn than me?' Bulma asked as Goku scoffed aloud and looked at his wife as Bulma giggled

'I see your point'

'Carry on' Goku said she smiled.

'Have you ever seen a man more stubborn than Vegeta?' she asked

'No never' Goku responded

'Exactly, that's what makes us the same. The difference between us is the fact that I extend my heart to everyone always, and he extends his heart to select few and hides it away.'

'Vegeta extending his heart? I hardly believe that's possible' Goku said.

'Well you better believe it' Bulma said and continued, 'Vegeta will never admit this in a million years but he loves me and he loves Trunks.'

'I'm sure he does Bulma. I don't doubt it'

'And I'm always gonna be grateful for him giving me my son. He's so special to Me Goku, I can imagine how you felt now when Gohan was born'

'Yeah one of the best days of my life' Goku smiled

'And Chichi's too I bet. Having a baby in the house really lightens the mood'

'I agree, Gohan brought us so much joy when he was a baby and seeing those milestones were special, Chichi always said she loved those precious times and would love to go through it all again, and I would too, you know its so precious and special to have something like that with someone you love and….' Goku was cut off by a shocked Bulma

'Goku…. Are you thinking about another baby?' She asked as Goku blushed

'I,….. well i….. I guess I am. I'd love for us to have another baby if I'm honest. And I know Chichi would want another baby too'

'Well I guess that's gotta be a conversation you have with her' Bulma smiled as Goku nodded as he watched her sleep, suddenly there was knock on the door and Krillen came in

'Bulma, Let's get going, you're dad called and said the equipment for the detonator is ready and needs work' Krillen said as Bulma rose from her chair

'I'll be back once the detonator is finished Goku. Hopefully Chichi will be okay by then' Bulma said

'Thanks for dropping by Bulma' Goku said as Bulma left the room and Krillen took her home.

Gohan Filled a bowl full of water and returned to the bedroom where his mother looked a little better. Goku dabbed the cloth in the water and gently dapped her forehead. Gohan sat there patiently and looked at his dad, he looked better too. Its like he knew his mum was gonna be okay too.

'Dad?'

'Yes Gohan?'

'Once Mom is better, how are we gonna be ready to fight the androids and Cell?' Gohan asked

'I have a plan about that, but I think we'll have to fill Vegeta and Trunks in on our plan too' Goku answered

'On what? What plan?'

'In order for us to get stronger and fast. We will be going into the Hyperbolic Time Chamber'

'Hyperbolic Time Chamber? What's that?' Gohan asked

'The Hyperbolic Time Chamber is a place where one can train and get stronger in a short amount of time. There are a number of conditions that make the Time Chamber a perfect place to gain strength quickly. To begin with, the flow of time within the Chamber is compressed. One day of real world time is equivalent to one year inside the Chamber, or one minute of real time is approximately six hours, five minutes, and 15 seconds in the Chamber. When using the entryway to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber through The Lookout on Earth, one year inside the chamber is the equivalent to one day on the outside. A step over the threshold of the training area brings one immediately into ten times Earth's gravity, the air gets denser, and the temperature fluctuates, the deeper one goes into the training area.' Goku explained

'But how is that possible, a year's worth of training in one day? How is that possible?!' Gohan asked

'The Hyperbolic Time Chamber is a separate dimension from that of Earth. There is no night or day in the Room, but the surroundings remain a constant bright iridescent white aurora. Its reflective floor is of undefined area, and the Room's boundaries are thought to stretch to infinity in all directions even though it appears to have a definite atmosphere, limiting its size to about that of the Earth.'

'Wow it must be really affective, and you can get stronger in no time at all!'

'That's right Gohan, The gravity in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber living area is described as being "different", though it seems to not be much higher than Earth's gravity of 1g. Alternatively, the gravity of the training area outside the living area is 10g.' Goku explained

'10G?! That's insane! You think I'll be ready for that?'

'I know you are Gohan, You're stronger than you know'

'So when will we go?' Gohan asked

'Well, as soon as your Mom is better. I'd rather her be fighting fit before we do anything.'

'I agree. We'd be distracted otherwise. Well at least she's going in the right direction of recovery'

'Yeah, She had us worried there for a while'

'She's strong Dad, I knew she'd be okay'

'Head downstairs son. You look like you could do with some sleep' Goku said as Gohan left the room, leaving Goku alone with his wife. Goku stroked Chichi's hair as she slept. He was still just so tired. And his back was killing him from falling asleep slumped in this chair all the time. He looked at Chichi worriedly. She had been quiet for a while now. He carefully climbed onto the bed beside her, cuddling up to her side. He had been too scared to do this before, worried that he would disturb her or cause her pain, but he needed to feel her close. He sighed sadly, resting his head above hers.

'Oh, Chi...' he murmured. 'Please get better soon. I don't know what I'd do without you. You're all I've wanted ever since I saw you again.' he smiled, thinking back to when he met with her again. She had been pretty weird, and very angry, but still strong, beautiful, and pure hearted.

'Remember the World Martial Arts Tournament? When I didn't remember you? Oh, you were so angry at me that day, Chi. I couldn't believe that I had forgotten about you, about the promise I made. It seemed so confusing at the time. But at the same time, I couldn't stop gawping at you. I remember thinking, wow, she was cute before, but now she's damn drop dead gorgeous!' he sniggered. 'I got flustered just looking at you. Especially when we were fighting it just made me fall in love with you even more, And then, stupid me thinking marriage was something you ate' he laughed softly. 'I couldn't believe it. I was so naive, Chichi. But I still kept my promise and married you, even though I didn't quite know what I was getting myself into. It was hard at first, but I've been so happy with you ever since, and I want to keep that happiness because I love you so much.' He kissed her head gently.

'And Even though you sometimes shout at me and loose your temper about Gohan's studies or my training, You've always done your best to look after the two of us' He sighed again, closing his eyes. 'I love you, my Chichi.' It took a few seconds for Goku to realise Chichi was stirring slightly. 'Chi?' he whispered, shooting up into a sitting position, staring down at her face. After what seemed to be a great deal of effort, Chichi opened his eyes, looking up at him. 'Chichi!' Goku's heart leapt. She was awake!

'Go….Ku?' she breathed. he had never heard her speak so quietly before. Every word seemed to be a struggle.

'I'm here, honey' he said, smiling, stroking her hair. 'Always here.' A tiny smile tugged at Chichi's mouth. She was trying to raise her hand. Goku caught it in both of his own.

'I….Love… you.' Chichi spoke so quietly Goku barely heard it. Tears stung at his eyes as he leaned down and kissed her gently.

'I love you too' he whispered. 'Now shhh. You rest. You need to get better.' Goku gently ordered her as Chichi smiled up at him again before her face contorted, groaning in pain.

'Hang on, Chichi' Goku said worriedly. 'I'll get your medicine.' he leaned over her carefully, grabbing the bottle. As he started unscrewing the cap, however, Chichi became still again. Goku sighed in relief, replacing the bottle.

'She was able to calm down without the medicine,' he thought. 'for sure she's getting better now!' smiling happily when suddenly Yamcha ran up the stairs and panted hard

'Yamcha you okay?!' Goku asked

'Goku… You may wanna look at the news, Its cell!' Yamcha instructed as Goku nodded

'Stay with Chi Yamcha' Goku as they swapped places. Yamcha sat next to Chichi as Goku went downstairs to look on the news. Yamcha looked at her and noticed something…. Odd.

…..

Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, Tien, Chiaoutzu, Oolong and Roshi watched the news and saw the Havoc that Cell had caused across all the cities and all the people that were now destroyed and become a part of him. This matter was getting out of hand.

'He's getting Stronger' Chioautzu said

'Yeah its only a matter of time before he meets with the androids' Tien added

'We'll be ready to fight him. Soon he'll be sorry for what he's doing them all' Goku huffed

'It would seem it'll only be a matter of time' Piccolo frowned

'As soon as Mom is up and around, we'll be ready to fight' Gohan said as Krillen arrived back at the house

'Passing all the cities, its so quiet down there, Cell is killing a lot of people you guys, its getting worse.' Krillen sighed

'Yeah….. But don't worry, things will get better You guys. I better get back upstairs' Goku said and walked up the stairs and walked into the bedroom as he saw Yamcha looked over Chichi in a frantic worry, and it made him nervous

'Yamcha, what are you doing?' He asked

'Goku! Something's wrong! I can't…I don't feel…..' Yamcha said he couldn't get the words to come out

'Yamcha what are you trying to say?' Goku asked as he looked at his wife in the bed, she looked…..so still, as if she was…. Too still. He walked over to her and looked at her closely. Wait. Something was wrong. Chichi... she was too still. he couldn't see her chest moving as she breathed. And slowly, he realised with horror that he couldn't hear her heartbeat.

'Chichi?' she shot up to her, cupping her face. 'Chichi!' he said again, more desperately. he pressed his head against her chest. Nothing. he couldn't hear her breath or a heartbeat. Goku gripped his hair in despair.

'Oh no…..' Yamcha gasped

'No. No! Chichi!' he started to shake her, tears streaming down his face. Despite all his worry, in the back of his mind, he had been sure she would recover. She was Chichi! His Chichi. They had been through so much together, and she was the strongest female on the planet! Chichi could always pull through anything. How in the world could she lose to a stupid illness? It didn't make any sense!

'Wait! The medicine! Give it to me!' Goku ordered as Yamcha handed it to him as he gave it to her, but she couldn't take it, she wasn't strong enough for another dosage. Goku tried again but it didn't work! This can't be happening!

'Chichi, no. Please, Chichi. CHICHI!' he screamed. The door banged off its hinges. Gohan came running into the room, looking around wildly.

'Dad! dad, what's...' Gohan stopped dead as he saw his parents. His father was lying across his mother's chest, clutching at her as he yelled out uncontrollably. Yamcha stood there in pure shock! Not knowing what to do or say

'N-no...' Gohan's legs gave out from under him and he sank to the floor. It couldn't be true. 'Mom!' he yelled, forcing himself back to his feet, running to the bed.

'Mom, Mom please wake up!' he choked. Everyone could hear the commotion and they knew what had happened. Goku held onto her tightly as the tears flowed down his cheek and begged her to wake up as Goku cried hard. Yamcha left the room to give them privacy as Goku and looked at his wife who looked peaceful, but he couldn't let go of her.

'Chichi…. CHICHI!' He gently shook her but to no avail. Goku cried onto the bed and felt his tears flow and they couldn't stop, he looked up at her and stroked her face and gasped for breath, his heartbreak was overwhelming!

'I love you, I should have said! I didn't know what to say! I love you! Chichi! I love you!' He cried and looked at her resting face, her pale skin and her limp body. Goku gently pressed his lips on hers and then cried next to his bed, as Gohan leaned on his father for comfort. It wasn't supposed to end like this. Chichi was always supposed to be there. She had to be there. Goku cried harder when it dawned on him that this wasn't like any other deaths. If she had died in a battle or something, they could have been able to bring her back with the Dragonballs. But not in this matter. This was a natural death. The Dragonballs wouldn't be able to revive her. Son Chichi, the reason for Goku's motivation to fight and protect, his wife, his love, was gone.

Sooooooooooo who's crying right now? Its not over! there is still one more chapter to go! So stay tuned Ya'll!
