A/N: Here is the third chapter, my take on Callie's point of view after Arizona called her to let her know they were coming to New York. This will be Calzona all the way. There will be ups and downs, but no true drama or angst. We have all had enough of that. I'd like to thank Mondlerfankay for inspiring me to post my first story in the last chapter of Guns and Scalpels. I have many stories started, so we will see how this one goes before I post another. Again, my circus, but not my monkeys. All characters belong to Shonda. Anything that may look like it came from another show/book/movie probably did.

Seven days. In seven days, my family will be together again. Callie poured herself a cup of coffee and decided to sit on her patio to get some fresh air. Curling up on one of the outdoor sofas, she looked over her yard and smiled as she imagined the reactions of her ex-wife and daughter when they see the swimming pool, jacuzzi, pool house, and her personal favorite, the walking path leading to the rock garden with a waterfall like fountain. She would be lying if she said she wasn't nervous. Over the past few months, Callie had realized more and more what it was she wanted, and it may all come to fruition in a week. Running her hand over the stubble on the back of her head, she closed her dark chocolate eyes and enjoyed the warmth of the early spring sun. While in therapy, she recognized processing information was never her strong suit. She would immediately react to information or a situation without thinking things through. Processing was always Arizona's strong suit. Expressing her thoughts though, not so much. Those differences both balanced them and tore them apart. As a surgeon, it was a necessary skill, to be able to react and make a split-second decision, it wasn't always the best trait to have in her personal life, however. Over the past year, she learned reacting to something wasn't as healthy as responding to it. She spent a great deal of time reflecting upon the things she reacted to rather than taking time to think about the situation or the consequences of her reactions. She knew now she had made many matters worse. In hopes of not repeating her mistakes, Callie worked hard at reigning in her temper and learning how to process information and respond accordingly. She knew it was something she had to do now in this situation.

During her therapy sessions, she concluded that she wanted to try to reconcile with Arizona. She wanted a friendship with the other mother of her child if nothing else. With them being on opposite sides of the country, she had resigned herself to the fact that it could go no further. But now, with her ex-wife moving to the same city, she was struggling with containing her feelings and her need for more. She knew so many things had to happen, so many tough conversations, learning about each other all over again, but more importantly, Arizona had to want it too. That's what worried her the most. She knew she wasn't the only one enjoying their conversations, she also couldn't deny the blatant flirting on both sides. But that had never been a concern in their relationship, the physical connection, the shameless flirting was always there even when they weren't on the best terms emotionally. No, it was the communication they needed to work at. Callie knew on her part, she did do exactly as Arizona accused her of so many years ago in couples therapy, she never let Arizona finish her own thoughts and immediately jumped to conclusions. She also realized that it wasn't easy for the blonde to share her feelings and admitted that sometimes her own reactions would exacerbate Arizona's hesitance to do so.

Callie knew she needed to take things slowly. Patience never being her best quality, she decided it was the one thing she needed the most in this instance. As badly as she wanted her wife and her family back, she knew she had to tread lightly and prove she had changed. She also knew she couldn't do it alone, picking up her phone, she sent a quick text to her therapist requesting a session for next week. She was only seeing her on an as needed basis now, but this was definitely something she needed to process with a professional. She knew no matter how much she wanted her family back; she couldn't just jump. She also couldn't assume that's what Arizona wanted, so she decided her best bet would be to earn back the trust she had lost so many years ago, more importantly, she had to open herself up and learn to trust Arizona again. She had to trust IN Arizona again.

Just as she laid her phone down, it started vibrating and playing the song she had assigned to a certain blonde fetal surgeon. Not able to stop the grin forming on her face, she picked up and was immediately greeted with the ramble she missed so much. "Oh my god Callie! You are not going to believe what just happened. Nicole showed up out of nowhere after being off the grid for months. She is having headaches and wanted Amelia to check her out to make sure the tumor isn't back which it's not. But she had me paged too and after all of her tests, she went on and on about the crash cart and how it needs to be in every hospital then she gave me some back handed compliments and oh my god, so then she said she got a grant and she wants to start a center for maternal and fetal health and…she wants to call it the Robbins-Herman Center and Callie…she wants me to help her run it and perform surgeries and help her teach." Callie's heart dropped. Was she saying she wasn't coming? Was she so close to having a chance to get her family back only to have it ripped away so quickly? Before she could even form a response, the ramble continued, "So, while she was telling me all this, I was freaking out, I mean, I am moving to New York, I can't run her center from there…I was just about to turn her down but when I opened my mouth to say no, I asked her if we could do it in New York and she said we could do it wherever I want. Callie, I don't have to go back to peds AND I will have my own center and be my own boss AND oh my God! I just had to tell you. I haven't told anyone, I needed to tell you first! The Robbins-Herman Center Callie!" The grin on the Latina's face couldn't get any bigger if she tried. Still trying to process everything, the only thing she could say was, "Arizona, I do believe that was the longest ramble I have ever heard." Then she started laughing not able to contain the joy bubbling from within.

Arizona couldn't help but laugh, in her haste to tell Callie and get everything out, she was certain she hadn't taken a breath anywhere during her rant. "Shut up! You like my ramb…" She was cut off by a high-pitched squeal coming through her phone as her ex-wife finally caught up, "ARIZONA! That is so amazing. You are amazing! I am so happy for you, so excited for you. You have such skill and talent and I know you would do what you have to do but now you get to do what you love and it's going to be awesome." Letting out a happy giggle, she replied, "Callie, you're rambling…and you said 'awesome'." Hearing the mirth in her ex-wife's voice, Callie responded in kind, "Shut up!" and let out a deep belly laugh. "Seriously Arizona, this is wonderful news, and I am so so proud of you." Finally letting everything seep in, she relished the fact that her ex wanted to tell her first before anyone else. Warmth washing through her at that thought, she became serious and said, "Thank you for telling me first, that really means a great deal to me that you want to share such news with me." Taking a moment to catch her breath, the blonde thought about what she had said and realized how true it was. Callie was always the first person with whom she wanted to share anything, and she was so happy she could do that once again. Deciding to be open and honest was the only way to rebuild their trust, she took another step and responded, "Of course, there's no one else I want to share these things with." Then she added, "Besides, you just opened your own center, who do you think I will be running to for advice?" The brunette laughed at that, "Well, since you and I really won't be competing, I guess I could give you a few pointers."

Arizona knew she was smiling like a fool; she was so afraid she would have to turn down the opportunity of a lifetime. But she knew she would. She knew she needed to do it for Sofia and for her and if she were being honest with herself, she wanted to do it for Callie. She would be lying if she didn't enjoy all the flirting and newfound relationship they seemed to be building. She knew it may be farfetched to hope to get her family back, but she was determined to at least be open to the idea. Taking a deep breath, she finally relaxed enough to carry on a conversation, "I'm sorry, I have no idea what you are doing, I didn't mean to interrupt your Saturday, I just needed to tell you. How are you doing?" Callie took a drink of her coffee and tried to calm her own nerves from the exciting information her ex just dropped on her, she swallowed and responded, "You didn't interrupt anything. I'm sitting on the patio enjoying the warm weather. I am so happy you called. I wanted to ask you something." Callie ran her hand over the stubble on the back of her head again. She knew this may not be the best idea, but she figured it couldn't be the worst idea either. She took a deep breath and decided to just come out with it. "I've been thinking since our talk last night and uh...I mean, you said you wanted to find a hotel, and well, I didn't know how long it would take you to find a place to live and, um, I was wondering if maybe you'd like to stay here. Just until you find someplace. There's no sense in spending money on a hotel when I have so much room. Sof would love it." She took a deep breath and bit her bottom lip awaiting a response.

Taken aback, Arizona sucked in a deep breath. She wasn't expecting this offer, but it would be helpful and make more sense if… Her thoughts were cut off when Callie added, "I mean, you don't have to give me answer now. You can think about it. Maybe stay a couple days and if it's not…if you decide…well then we could find you a hotel?" She had to admit, her ex-wife had really changed, in the past, she wouldn't have asked, she would have assumed, and she also wouldn't offer her the chance to think about it. But honestly, did she need to think about it? She smiled into the phone; no she didn't need to think about the chance to be close to the Latina again. "Callie, if you really don't mind, then honestly, I would love to stay with you." Then so she didn't sound so eager, "At least we could try it for a few days." Callie couldn't help the smile that spread across her face. She felt like it may just split in two. Kicking her feet in excitement, she responded, "Great! I will make sure everything is ready for you both when you get here. If you want to, you can just have all your stuff shipped here. I have plenty of space. That way you won't have to worry about finding storage."

Arizona stood in her office and did a little happy dance. Her smile and dimples on full display as they had been every time she talked to Callie lately. When she first made the decision to move to New York, she had no idea it would turn out like this with the possibility of reuniting her family. Looking at the clock on her laptop, she realized she was running late. "Cal, I have to get into surgery, but I'll have Sof call this evening." Still smiling, the brunette felt a wave of sadness at having to cut the call short, but she couldn't tame the excitement she felt for her ex-wife. She responded sincerely, "Thanks again for calling me, I am so proud of you and happy for you. Go be awesome Dr. Robbins." The blonde smiled at the last statement. It was something they always said to one another before a surgery. It felt so good to hear it again. "Thank you, have a great day Callie." With that, the two ex-wives ended their call, both smiling like mad.

Callie walked into the office tucking her phone in her pocket and plopped down on the couch unceremoniously. She couldn't get the smile off her face and honestly, it was starting to hurt her jaws. She looked at the petite redhead in front of her who was staring at her with an odd expression on her face. "So, this is new. Most people who request an emergency meeting with their shrink don't come in smiling like a maniac." Dr. Stella Griffin laughed at her own comment. This smile was new for her patient. Sure, she smiled and was friendly, but this smile, it lit up her expressive brown eyes and seemed to glow from the inside out. "I'm sorry Dr. G, I just can't stop smiling. They're moving here! My family, they are coming home." Taking a drink of water at that moment was not her best idea as now she was choking and spitting out the cool clear liquid. "Come again. Your family?" Wiping herself off with a napkin, Stella looked at her patient expectantly. The brunette took a deep breath and nearly swooned as she said, "Arizona and Sofia. They are coming home." Callie proceeded to share the entire story with her therapist beginning with the unexpected phone call from her ex-wife stating she was moving to New York.

As Dr. Griffin listened to Callie speak, she couldn't help but notice how animated she became and the clear affectionate tone she used whenever she spoke of her ex-wife. Hearing this woman speak was completely different than the broken woman she first met. The woman she first met seemed so empty of emotion other than anger and confusion. She was angry mostly at herself but held a great deal of animosity toward her ex-wife as well. She was also confused about how she could still have so much love for the other woman. Hearing their history, it was shocking they made it as long as they did. At the same time, hearing how passionate the two had always been about each other, their daughter, and their beliefs, it wasn't a surprise the love still existed. After working through her anger and finding forgiveness for herself and her ex-wife, Callie had made the decision to take steps toward reconciling with Arizona, if nothing else to form a friendship with the other woman again. "Tell me how you felt when you first received the call from Arizona." the therapist prodded. Callie smiled at the thought, "I was feeling pretty down. I had just entered my empty house and saw the family photo in the entryway and the memories nearly crushed me. I was so sad about everything I had lost and overwhelmed with how much work I would need to do to get my life back. I hadn't even taken the first step and tried to talk to Arizona yet. I was sitting there thinking about what I would even say all evening. Just as I was about to get into bed, I got the call from Arizona. All I felt was…well relief at first, then the more we talked, I felt familiarity, and by the time we hung up, I felt both happy and sad." She looked at her hands confused. "That's how I feel all the time now when I talk to her. I feel happy when we are talking, but I always feel sad or disappointed when the conversation ends. Like I don't want it to end. Ever."

"Over the course of this time, have you felt any anger towards her?" the therapist prodded. Callie's answer was instant, "No. Not once." "So, Callie, why the hell are you in my office?" Running her hand over her freshly shaved sides, the Latina shook her head, "I'm scared of having these feelings again. What if she doesn't feel the same way?" Nodding her head in understanding, Stella replied, "What if she does?" "Oh God!" Callie threw her head back against the couch she was sitting on. The therapist chuckled. "Is that thought scarier?" The Latina nodded her head, "What if she does and we try again and we…" she stood up and started pacing. Stella was used to this and was awaiting the rant, she decided to try to cut it off before it started. "What if you try again and you get it right? What if you both feel the same way and this time you do it better? What if you actually learned from your mistakes?" Callie stopped her pacing and looked at the other woman. "Callie, you two have been through everything. You have experienced the fight over kids, a shooting, moving to a different continent, being pregnant with someone else's child, a car accident, a plane crash, an amputation, a miscarriage, infidelity, divorce, a custody battle and moving across country. Yet, you stand here and tell me you still love this woman, and she is moving across the country to bring your daughter to you. Instead of thinking your relationship is doomed, how about you look at the fact that your love survived all of that and you are still standing and stronger because of it?"

Callie stood in the middle of the therapist's office trying to digest everything the other woman just said. It never occurred to her to look at things in that perspective. She allowed her mega-watt smile to break free. She nodded her head at the other woman. "I'm getting my wife back!" Dr. Griffin smiled in return. "You do that Torres! If you need me, you or the two of you together, I am here. Now go home and prepare your house for your family."
