"Are you ready for kindergarten?" Levi asked his son.
"Of course! So excited!" Little Eren cheered.
They both sat in little Eren's room. Levi was helping his son get ready, his bag with angel wings was packed with all the school's supplies that the boy needed. Kindergarten won't be for two weeks but the little boy was so excited.
Little Eren was digging in his bag with his noticed something was wrong. "Mommy, look!"
"What is it?"
Little Eren gave the box of crayons to the raven and pointed the missing color. "There's no green."
"What?" Levi opened the boxed and checked. Yep, no color green.
The boy started removing all his things in the bag before flipping it upside down but no stray green crayon fell out. He looked up at Levi with sad puppy eyes. "I can't color trees or grass anymore."
"It's okay, I'll just buy you a green color. There should be one in the convenience store," Levi pulled out his notepad in his cardigan's pocket and wrote down what he'll buy before he forgets.
"Can I come with you?"
"Sorry, darling but only Mommy," Levi leaned down to kiss the crown of his son's head before standing up.
"Okay, but be fast!" Little Eren chirped.
"Don't worry, I will." The raven chuckled.
Pocketing his notepad, Levi moved to his room next door to retrieve his pouch. He walked to the front door and was about to leave when Kuchel came to him.
"Where are you going?" the old Omega asked.
"Oh, um, I'm going to buy a green crayon. Eren didn't have one."
"It didn't roll off in his bag or anything?"
"We checked, it wasn't there. I'll be real quick," Levi waved at his mom before closing the door.
"Okay, take care!" Kuchel waved at him. Once the door was close, her pleasant smile dropped. Fishing her phone, she stared at the green dot that started to walk away from her house. She forced a smile. If Levi forgets the way home, then Kuchel would know and pick him up.
Eren entered the nearest convenience store that he could find because he was starving after four hours of driving. He didn't bother hiding his face anymore. Recon didn't showcase his ugly mug when the business went down. It was only his father's face all over the paper and on the TV.
He knew that Recon was looking for him as he casually take some cup noodles and a bag of chips.
He was able to travel safely with his car, money, and fake IDs because he managed to find Marco and Jean. The two were able to worm their way out of the mess and still operating the flower shop. Also, Kenny Ackerman spared them a dime.
Jean jumped off his feet when he discovered that it was Eren who knocked on their door.
It was crazy that during Eren's memory loss phase, he'd been ordering flowers at their shop. It was such a coincidence. The brunette Alpha told them everything and they were kind enough to help him meet Levi and his child.
With a few hacking and digging through the files (he thank Armin for teaching him a few tricks), Eren was able to trace Levi Ackerman's whereabouts. And damn it was a long trip. Though, he had no idea what the kids' names, gender, or what they look like.
Could it be that they'll have his hair color or Levi's? What about the child's eyes? Levi's eyes were pretty and-
Eren shook those thoughts out of his head while he waited in line He fiddled with the wallet that Jean let him borrow. Not that he wasn't grateful but horseface's choice with wallets was junk. Eren had never seen this type of design, it was hard to grab cash and-
A damn coin fell off on the tiled floor and rolled behind him.
Groaning, Eren tried to balance his bag of chips and cup noodles in his hands to pick up the coin.
Then someone moved to pick it up.
Eren gaped, his nose picked up the sweet, strawberry-vanilla scent. He could feel his golden eyes shifted back to their natural green as his inner instincts howled in triumph. Happy to meet his Omega again.
Eren watched as Levi Ackerman on the flesh as he picked up the coin and offered it to him.
"You drop this," he said. His voice was cool just like Eren remembered. The raven looked exhausted and pale but he looked cute with his oversized beige cardigan.
But. Something was not right.
Eren gaped at his mate. Levi's eyes held nothing other than empty space, he was not looking at the brunette but he had his head turned to the aisles while he search for something.
Something's not fucking right.
They're just a meter away from each other and Levi didn't recognize his Alpha's scent? Maybe this was not Eren's Levi but the strong vanilla and strawberry aroma coming from the frail-looking Omega was not a lie.
"Um, sir?" Levi finally turned to look at him and his dull blue-stormy eyes widen slightly. But as Eren desperately searches in those eyes, there's no recognition.
Levi Ackerman didn't remember him. Eren understood that the Omega wanted to forget the time they spent together but as a Recon Agent, the raven should know instantly that Eren was a most wanted criminal. He expected a kick in the stomach or a punch on the face and then, Levi Ackerman would drag him back to his cell in Recon but... nothing.
Levi blinked, feeling uncomfortable with their one-side interaction. He pursed his pink lips and placed the coin on top of Eren's cup noodles before turning to the aisles.
Eren almost whined when Levi turned away but he managed to pull himself together. "T-Thank you!"
Well, tried to. His voice cracked and he stuttered like a teen.
Levi paused stared at him for a few seconds, before smiling softly. "You're welcome."
Eren swore he died right there but before he allowed himself to get killed by Levi's sweet smile, he confirmed that he's in the right town. He didn't know that it would be this easy to find Levi, it was like fate brought them together.
However, there's something wrong-
Emerald-green eyes widen like saucers when he didn't saw his mark on Levi's nape when the raven walked away. The skin was smooth and pink, it was obvious that it went through surgery.
Eren felt like the world crumbled behind him and he's falling into an endless pit.
Was that reason why he had no energy to fight back for three years? Jean and Marco did wonder why he didn't escape Recon when underground cells were so easy to bust his way out. Eren did admit that he could escape whenever he wanted but he reasoned that he didn't feel like it.
Now he knew why, but what he knew was not enough.
Eren paid for everything he bought and walked back to his car. From the parking lot, he watched as Levi paid for something. The brunette could kidnap the raven if he wanted, demand what the fuck was going on but he knew that he wouldn't get any answers from Levi.
He needed Hange Zoe.
His eyes followed the raven as he left the store. Eren squinted at the item that the raven was holding.
It's a box of crayons.
Eren felt his heart explode and his eyes started to water.
But no. He shook his head and drove out of the parking lot.
"I'll find answers," Eren swore. "I'll come back to you, Levi."
