"Yahoo! Today was fun!" Hange cheered when entered her apartment. She just had an epic time in the amusement part with Moblit and tonight she's going to visit Levi and his family.
Throwing all the souvenirs she got from the park, Hange turned on the lights while she took off her clothes right there in the hallway. She only had an hour to get ready and drive to Kuchel's house. She certainly didn't want to be late again and get scolded by Levi.
"Oh, god! What the fuck?!"
Hange paused on taking off her pants when she saw Eren in her kitchen. His big green-eyed were wide with horror, hand covered his lips as he tried his best not to gag.
"Oh. Hi, Eren!" She waved at him.
"Why the fuck are you changing your clothes in-"
"I'm in a hurry, sorry-" Hange laughed awkwardly before her brain started to function.
In a blink of an eye, Hange's cheerfulness disappeared, eyes dead serious, she pulled her gun with that she hidden with the walls of her apartment and aimed at the brunette in her kitchen. She didn't even think twice about pulling the trigger.
Eren drove below the counter island when bullets rain down on him. He groaned in frustration, he had no time for this.
"I don't want to do this but-" Hange said before throwing her gun away. She pulled a smoke bomb out of nowhere.
Eren stood from where he hid and hissed at the Beta. "What the fuck you fucking bitch?! Are you crazy?!"
"Me? Crazy? You're the crazy one! You psychopath!" Hange shrieked.
"I don't have fucking time for this," He cursed. He marched towards Hange, fuming with rage, but instead of throwing his fist like he usually did, he grabbed the beta scientist on her shoulders and begged in his dominant Alpha voice. "What happened to Levi?!"
All the anger on Hange's features shredded as she witnessed up close how Eren's green eyes were full of grieving emotions and his voice carried his inner Alpha's sorrow. The Alpha's grip on her shoulders was not forceful, it was even weak and she could easily deliver every deadly move she got under her sleeves.
But she can't.
"A lot," came a weak whisper before she shrieked. "And it was all my fault!"
Eren was taken by surprise and took a setback. The beta scientist fell on her knees and wailed like a child.
"IT WAS MY IDEA! IT WAS ALL MY FAULT AND THEN-" Hange choked and gasped. "I DID ALL I CAN TO HELP AND STOP HIM BUT IT'S ALL MY FAULT!"
Eren stared down at her, his face was inscrutable. He was not sure how to react to the Beta's cries but he was sure that it was Zoe's doings. He knew Zoe and her skills in brewing up all kinds of drugs and operations but Eren's already aware of what happened to his raven Omega, though it didn't explain why Levi couldn't remember him.
"His memory," he started.
"I DID ALL I CAN TO STOP HIM! BUT HE DESPERATELY WANTED TO FORGET AND DROWNED EVERYTHING!" Hange cried.
Eren pressed his lips firmly at the pang of pain in his chest. His Alpha howled in deep sorrow at the thought of his Omega wanting to forget him for good.
At the end of the day, Eren couldn't blame Levi. It was all nothing but pretend until it was not.
But what's done was done, he just wanted to go back to Levi and meet his child.
"Enough," he said quietly but the Beta on the floor heard it clearly and manage to pause her crying. "Can you fix it?"
"I'm trying," Hange whispered and covered her face as she weep. "Everyday..."
"It's impossible that your drugs won't work," Eren hissed. He knew Zoe's skills that she could easily undo the damage that she had done.
"It's not about the drugs or cure! Whatever you called it!" Hange growled and stood to her feet. "Levi won't take anything from anyone."
"What?" Eren gaped, eyes grew wide in shock.
"Because he doesn't remember! You, Me, Recon, even his uncle!"
"That's-"
"He drowned everything, okay?!" Hange screamed. "I did everything, I've acted as his doctor. He took my prescription at first then his mother discovered that he's been flushing them down in the toilet!"
Eren was speechless, he's aware of Hange Zoe's skills in brewing drugs but damn, she's good at it. Unfortunately, it didn't do any favors to Levi.
"But-"
"No matter how many times I introduced myself as his best friend, doctor, neighbor and classmate even! Levi forgets!"
Eren took a step back. He didn't expect that Levi's condition was in this degree. He gasped. If the raven had this reoccurring memory loss then he might get lost going home. Back in the convenience store, Levi went by himself and-
"You piece of shit!"
Eren snapped his head towards the new voice only to discover that it was Kenny Ackerman charging at him. He grabbed the brunette Alpha on the collar of his shirt and screamed at his face.
"You didn't kill Erwin Smith?!"
Eren blinked at him. He didn't? Well, that was the first time, the brunette knew for sure that he ended Smith right in his cell in Recon. He even imagined that the blonde was being eaten by rats!
"But I-"
"Now, he's on the run like a madman! He's been pestering me all day for Levi's location!"
Eren saw red. His inner Alpha was beyond mad. Sure, the blonde can send all the death threats to Eren but if Erwin was threatening to kill his child and now his mate? Unacceptable. The brunette would make sure that Erwin lose another limb and die in excruciating pain.
"Wait! Wait!" Hange jumped in. "Something happened in Recon?! Why didn't I know about this?!"
"Let's say," Eren turned to the Beta, his green eyes shifted to gold in a few seconds and back to green by just recalling the what blonde said when they were in the underground cells. "Smith paid me a visit, whined about his missing arm, and threatened to kill my child."
"What?!" Hange gasped and Kenny gaped as he let go of Eren's clothes.
"And you let him live?! Now that fucker is after Levi!" Kenny shouted at him in rage. "How can you fail as a psychopath now?!"
"I..." Eren was speechless. That was something he couldn't answer. But it's been three years after the accident and he hadn't shed some else blood or taken a life. Was he losing his touch?
Eren shook the question out of his head and focused on the present problem. "You didn't give Smith anything right? About Levi?"
"I'm not an idiot, freak!" Kenny snarled at him. "I would do everything to protect Levi."
"Me too, even if I fail several times..." Hange frowned before she pull herself back and force herself to be determined. "I'll kill Erwin."
"What?" Eren hissed. "That's my job."
"No," Hange stated firmly. "I got Levi into this mess. I just wanted him to live with no problems."
"Hange," Kenny frowned. He wasn't blaming the Beta for everything that had happened and he admitted that he joined Hange from carrying out the plan. Somehow, he doubt if he was being a good uncle to his nephew. "I'll handle Smith as well."
"Wait, hold on," Eren stared at the two. In disbelief. "You know I can simply go, meet Smith, and kill him at the spot right? I'll make sure he's dead and-"
Hange and Kenny observed him silently as he keep explaining to them. The brunette Alpha sounded like a teenager trying to explain that he wasn't staying up late. It was odd.
"No," Kenny arched a brow at him. "You wouldn't like touching your son with fresh blood in your hands."
Eren paused and stared at Kenny, eyes wide.
Kenny patted his shoulder before moving to the door. "You've definitely changed," he whispered with a sigh.
The brunette watched him leave and gapped when Kenny opened the door. Was that horse waiting outside? The old Alpha effortlessly mounted the stallion and galloped his way out of the street.
"Oh, that horse was your dowry for bonding with Levi before," Hange explained like it was a normal thing.
"What?" Eren shook his head.
"Nevermind about that," Hange chuckled as she recalled what happened three years ago but eventually a frown replaced her smile. "Look, just trust us. We'll handle Smith and you go and introduce yourself to your son."
"How?" Eren sounded like crying.
"Just," Hange looked at him from head to toe and gestured at all of him. "Be like this."
Eren tilted his head on the side. Confused.
Hange couldn't help but smile. Yep, this psychopath was still the same sweet Alpha that loved her best friend dearly.
