Hey guys, hope you have enjoyed the read so far.

Anyway, here is the next chapter so enjoy.

Chapter Six

A Changing Galaxy

Solana Amell was a Knight of the Jedi Order.

She still sometimes can't believe that it really happened. Over the past months, she still finds herself raising her hand toward where her Padawan braid had been for the past years and seeing nothing there. She was a newly minted Knight of course, however, she still can't believe that it had actually happened.

Her Master…well, former master now had been glowing, pride in her eyes as she was knighted by the Grandmaster Carlyle after she had passed through the Trials, and she was now a fully pledged knight the same rank as Master Lexi, thought, she wasn't yet a Master but maybe in a few years she will reach that rank.

These past few months, the newly minted Knight had been getting familiar with the duties and responsibilities she now has placed upon her shoulders. While she still works with Master Lexi on missions they had gone through since her Trials, she knew that it won't be long before she will be leading her own mission and even teaching her own Padawan when she can…

Gods, how is she ever going to able to teach anyone?

Solana remembers her Padawan days quite clearly. She remembers how hardheaded and stubborn she had been when she was thirteen, disregarding most of the teachings Lexi had tried to teach her back then. Even now, she still feels like that young girl and despite her devotion to the Order and the teaching she had, there was still many that she still need to learn to be a better Jedi.

She looked up toward the direction in front of her and she spied two familiar figures in the distance. Her former master and was that the Instructor of the younglings? Solana quickly made her way forward approaching them, catching the end of their conversation.

"…not that long now," the instructor was saying, "With their progress, I am sure that it won't be long before they're on their way to Jedha."

"That's good," Lexi answered, "They are a talented group…"

Then Lexi turned toward her, "Aren't they my former Padawan?"

The instructor turned toward her as well giving her a light bow of acknowledgment, one that Solana returned just as briefly.

"I'm sorry Master, but I didn't catch your conversation…," she said, "Thought I did hear you mentioning the planet Jedha…Is there going to be a Gathering soon?"

"The Moon clan…the clan that our young Lavellan is part of," Master Lexi told her with a slight smile.

Solana remembered the young elvhen girl.

"How is she by the way?" she asked the instructor.

"She is a hard worker that one," the instructor answered them as they continued to walk together through the hallway, "very strong in the Force as well. I could see why the Council were so quick into adding her into my class. Despite being here only for a few months…she has managed to keep up with the rest who has been there for years."

"That's impressive," Solana said not hiding her surprise.

It was impressive that the girl managed to improve so quickly with only a few months of training.

"Then I will look forward to see what type of the Jedi she will become in the future," Master Lexi spoke out with a light smile upon her lips, "Thank you for the report Instructor Leane."

The man gave a light nod before walking off leaving the two by themselves. Solana stayed silent for a moment before looking at the Asari beside her.

"You've been keeping tabs on Lavellan?" she asked.

"I have," Master Lexi told her, "Finding her was the will of the Force…thought for what purpose I cannot say for certain…But enough about that, what about you? Have you been adjusting well to your new responsibilities?"

Solana smiled a little.

"It does take some time to get used to," she said, "Not having the braid anymore…and my responsibilities have been…an adjustment."

"Don't worry, you will be fine," Master Lexi told her, "Maybe soon enough you'll have your own Padawan to teach."

Solana shook her head.

"I don't think I can teach yet…," she said, "With all the new duties I have…I doubt the Council will grant me a Padawan. I don't have enough experience as a Knight to be a teacher."

Suddenly a light beeping interrupted the two of them. Solana blinked realizing that it was her com device that was beeping. Someone was contacting her and she picked it up, thumbing the device.

A small holoform of Master Mahariel appeared within her palm.

"Master Mahariel?" she greeted.

"Knight Amell," the master spoke out, her voice somber, "I have an urgent matter I wish to speak with you about. Meet with me in my chambers when you have the time."

"Of course, Master," Solana answered her, "I'll head over right now."

"See you there."

The holoform disappeared as the call ended.

"Well, you seem to have something to do," Master Lexi told her, "I'll let you go right now, but we'll talk later."

Solana nodded at her before parting ways with the Asari. It was curious that Master Mahariel would contact her out of the blue like this. It could also mean that this wasn't really a Council matter. She made her way quickly through the halls and it wasn't long before she was in front of the Master's door and knocked lightly upon it.

It opened instantly for her and she entered within the room.

The room was scarcely decorated since Jedi hardly had any form of attachment to materials, thought they were some elvhen objects set upon a small table at the corner of the room. Solana gave a light glance around the chamber before she found the elvhen Master upon her knees in meditation.

The Force felt heavy within room…with a touch of sadness as well.

"Master?"

The elvhen woman opened her eyes, glancing up at her.

"Ah…Knight Amell, thank you for coming so swiftly," she said indicating a seat.

Solana approached and sat down.

"You said that you needed to speak with me urgently," she said.

The woman nodded.

"Indeed," she said, "King Cailan has passed."

Solana's eyes widened in shock.

"King Cailan's dead?" she repeated shocked, "How…?"

"I was told that it was accidental," Master Mahariel answered her solemnly, "By his right-hand man, Loghain who has been serving the crown since the end of the war against Orlais."

Solana frowned lightly.

"I remember that war," she said, "My grandfather fought in it…he never did come back home after that…but the war ended more than fifty years ago…Cailan was no more than fifteen when he took the crown…ten years ago now."

"Yes, you are correct," Master Mahariel said.

Solana stared at the woman.

"You don't believe his death was accidental," she said.

"No…I do not," the elvhen woman told her pulling herself up from her kneeling position.

She approached the terminal at the end of the room and Solana stood up to follow after her and tapped something and a hologram appeared in front of them. It showed them a blond-haired man dressed in light comfortable clothing and Solana was quick to recognized him.

King Cailan himself.

"Master Mahariel. You once served my father years ago and I feel that I might need that aid once again…I have noticed something happening in my kingdom and I fear that it is only going to start escalating from there…I can't say much on an open channel but…we'll speak more when we meet."

Then the holo faded.

"How old is that recording?" Solana asked.

"I received it a day ago," Master Mahariel said, "But I was in a Council meeting so I couldn't really answer him. When I tried it was Loghain who answered me and told me of what had happened to the King."

Solana stayed silent.

"Something is happening on Ferelden," she said.

"Yes," Master Mahariel spoke out, "I spent all of last night meditating upon it and the Force feel clouded there…as if a great shadow was ensnaring the planet itself."

"An influence from the Dark Side?" Solana asked, frowning.

"That's what it seems," Master Mahariel told her before turning toward her, "There will soon be a funeral for King Cailan and I will be going there as well…but I am going to need you on the planet as well but not as a Jedi."

Solana frowned.

"Something is happening on Ferelden as you said," Master Mahariel told her, "While it may be an internal affair…but if Cailan was worried enough to contact the Jedi for aid…then the situation might be worse than it is on the surface."

Solana knew that the woman was right. While it is true that Jedi were contacted for dispute to act as mediators and even settle them. There was something more going on in Ferelden.

"When do we leave?" she asked.

Mahariel gave her a light smile.

"I'll speak to the Council about where we are going," she said, "We will leave tonight."

Master Lexi was seating in front of a monitor as she worked. The woman was looking at the information that was in front of her with a light frown upon her features, tapping the table in front of her with one of her fingers.

For the past months she had been keeping taps upon Lavellan's progress and she must admit the girl's progress was staggering at best. While it was not unusual to have gifted individuals within the Order, what Lavellan was doing was something else entirely.

Maybe there is more truth to the tales of the Silver Eyes than we first believe.

The Silver Eyes were mostly believed to be a myth, however few within the Order still believes of their existence and with so much knowledge lost during the Sith Reign of Darkness, there was no way of knowing exactly what was true and what was merely fiction.

But now it seems that she finally had a lead.

Lavellan's mother.

She knew that there was something in the Force there…something that is cloudy within it. She had argued her case to the Council before but they wouldn't do anything saying that it was the girl that need to do this.

But Lexi wasn't going to leave it as it is.

With what the Keeper had said about the woman, she was part of something that caused her to flee and the planet she was seeking was on the edge of the Terminus System.

Seems that Lavellan's mother was born there and it was a start at least…

The Terminus System was out of the Citadel Council influence meaning that crime lords and other shady organizations run rampant with slavery and other dark deeds that will never be able to take place in Council space or even in the Attican Traverse. It wasn't unusual for Jedi to be seen patrolling the border there and she knew many young knights looked forward to the challenge it brings.

Lexi smiled to herself.

She won't allow Ellana to face whatever is coming alone and maybe when the girl was older, she'd be able to share what she had found with her…
