Hey everyone! Today is the day I proudly present the story that Jay and I have been working on! Once more, it takes place in the same world as Bleeding out and Rise. Specifically, it takes place 8-9 months after the beginning of Bleeding Out, and about 6-7 months after the start of Rise. I still have to go back and change the dates back in Bleeding Out so there will be a couple reuploads of chapters in Bleeding Out coming up when I get the chance. Anyway, we hope you all enjoy it!

Ch1 - My Hero Inheritance

Hey there, my name is Izuku Midoriya. I'm just your average highschool boy. Well, I wouldn't say average exactly. I'm not particularly good at sports, however I've always performed well in academics. I've been living with my mom and older twin in the city of Musutafu, Japan. We've been living there since my brother and I were born. A couple years ago, our dad passed away, and our mother was forced to work on top of raising us. I know it must not have been easy for her, but she never failed to be there and provide for us.

Speaking of Kaito, he may be older by only a few minutes, but he acts like he's much older than me. There has never been a doubt in my mind that he'll have no problems getting into whatever university he wants in the future. Now, he and I may be twins, but we're almost opposites. I'm more reserved and shy, I have pretty much no friends, and I'm not popular at all. On the other hand, he's always been popular with everyone he meets. He can be a little hard headed sometimes. He often makes rash decisions, not quite thinking about things ahead of time. He often reminds me of an old friend of mine. And sometimes, it worries me.

Katsuki Bakugou. When we were little, he used to be a close friend. But we began to grow apart from each other when we're about five years old. Now, nine years later, he treats me as though we're enemies. I have no idea what I have done to him, and I wish I knew. Regardless of the treatment I received from him, I always found myself in awe of his talent in school and sports. Or rather anything he was involved in. He always excelled and strived to be the best, and he was always vocal about his desires to be the best.

I was never far from ridicule from my peers too. Once they all started hopping on the bandwagon led by Kacchan, every day of school was almost a nightmare. I constantly was picked on by others, and I could never find a moment's rest unless I was at home. My brother stood by me, and most of the time lashed out at people for my sake. I was glad he cared enough about me to do that, but it also made me feel weak. Like I couldn't defend myself. And It hurt to think that way. My mother always told me to have pity on those who made fun of me, saying that they were just trying to make themselves feel better. I tried looking at it that way, but I could never truly convince myself that was the case.

And so here I am. A lonely first-year, about to start high school off. You might be saying that I could make friends here, that I could get away from the past and move on. Well, I'd agree if Kacchan wasn't going to the same school as me. We both were aiming high, and I managed to slip in between the cracks to attend one of the most well known schools in Japan: UA High. At first glance, it might just seem like a normal high school. But in all the years of its establishment, it never failed to produce some of the brightest minds and most promising athletes in the country. A lot of the applicants were exceptional, they always are. Sometimes I feel like I'm not worthy to even be given this opportunity. It feels unreal to me. But I made a promise to myself to try better. This year would mark the start of my comeback, where I could finally turn my life around.

I was finally pulled out of my thoughts from an elbow to the gut. I gasped for air as I fell off my bed. I tried my hardest to regain the air that had vacated my lungs, when a hand reached down from my attacker.

"Sorry bro." Kaito said, his tone apologetic. I knew he didn't mean to really hurt me, it was just a bad habit of his. And my bad habit had turned out to lose myself in my thoughts, and even mutter out loud. "You were being weird again, so I decided to snap you out of it." He finished that sentence with a smile.

I groaned as I took his hand and he pulled me up. "Come on, mom made breakfast already!" He said as he took off to the bathroom with his school uniform. I knew, however, he was probably going to get flagged down for not wearing it properly. But then again, that wouldn't stop him. I chuckled to myself at the thought. I joined him in the bathroom with my own uniform.

After cleaning up in the bathroom, we raced downstairs to our mother and her wonderful cooking. She was waiting at the table in the kitchen, smiling upon us joining her. We took our seats, gave thanks, and dug in. Looking at the time, I knew we didn't have long until the bus dropped by at the local bus stop. Kaito finished before me, grabbed his bag and rushed out. I don't understand what his deal was, but he always insisted on beating the bus to the school on foot. I, personally, preferred the free ride.

After I finished, I gathered my and Kaito's plates and put them in the sink. I was about to start cleaning them, until my mother put her hand on my shoulder. "Izuku, you don't need to wash them," She said, "I can take care of them before I leave for work."

I shook my head. "It's alright mom, I'll do them for you." I said. "You better get to work, your boss won't be happy if you're late again." She tried again to protest but I assured her I could handle it. She eventually gave in, and she left for work after a quick hug. I quickly finished the dishes, grabbed my bag, and put my shoes on before heading out the door.

When I got to the bus stop, I had just missed it. Great. I could see it driving off in the distance, leaving me to walk on my own. I just kept waking and didn't complain, using my phone's app as a guide. I felt like I was walking forever. I sighed and looked around as people passed by. My phone started to buzz, and the screen started to glitch. I looked at it for a moment, confused as to why it was acting up. I tapped the screen a few times before it worked like nothing had happened. Well, that was partially true. I noticed it was telling me to turn down the alley to my right. I found it odd, but the new arrival time made it much more appealing.

I had only taken a few steps before I heard a light boom. At first I couldn't tell where it came from, but when I looked up, I went numb. A light in the sky, the figure of an object hurtling towards the ground. And that ground was right where I stood. I tried to move, but I was frozen by fear. Eventually, I forced my legs to move and jumped out of the way as the object crashed into the pavement. A cloud of dust and dirt surrounded me. As it began to clear, I slowly crawled my way towards the object, sliding into the crater it had made.

As I got closer, I could hear heavy breathing, accompanied by what sounded like groans of pain. My eyes widened to see a man laying in the rubble, donned in a red, white, and blue suit, with yellow cuffs around his wrists. His face almost seemed to hold the faces of people. One of a muscular man, with a chiseled jawline, a blond tuft of hair sticking up while the rest of that half was slicked back. The other side was that of a sick man, having hollowed cheeks and sunken eyes, with a shriveled version of the other tuft with matching matted hair. He was covered in blood, as well as cuts in his uniform. But the most prominent and horrifying part of this picture was the giant hole in his side. Blood poured from his would as he grabbed at it.

I was terrified and felt like I was going to puke. However, I knew I couldn't leave him here to die. I quickly tried to dial 911, but he stopped me. He reached out and motioned for me to come closer as he coughed, blood flowing from his mouth as well.

"B-Boy," He wheezed, "Y-You must listen to what I have to s-say." I knelt next to him, wondering what could be so important.

"Y-You must-" He coughed again, as he held out his blood covered hand. "You must take my power. Prick your finger, q-quickly! There must be blood!" He wheezed again, I saw the light fading from his eyes. I don't know why I did it, but I nodded and found a piece of rubble. I managed to cut my palm. A small amount of blood began to flow as I winced in pain. He motioned me to give him my hand, and as I did so, he pressed his bloody finger to my wound.

I finally managed to find my voice in this whole situation. "B-But why?" I asked frantically, "Who are you? What do you mean by power?" But it was too late. His arm began to fall, and his body went limp. I felt sick. I just watched someone bleed out in front of me. "N-No." I muttered to myself. I heard the sounds of sirens coming close. I sat on the ground, unable to get up. My hearing faded and my vision clouded. I heard voices as I began to slip into the unknown. The last thing I saw before my eyes shut was a man. A familiar face and eyes, yet I did not know him.

It felt like I was drifting in darkness. All alone, but I wasn't afraid. I began to hear a voice, the same one I heard before he died. It was faint, and I couldn't tell what direction it was coming from. I suddenly saw a pair of deep-blue eyes.

Then I woke. I sat up quickly and took note of my surroundings. The police must have taken me to the hospital in case of any injuries. Honestly, I was surprised I wasn't really injured by the impact, what with all the debris around. The only thing they must have done to me was disinfect and wrap my hand. I began to lightly rub the gauze as one of the nurses in the room did a quick check up with me before she called out to someone.

The person who walked in looked exactly like the man who crashed into the pavement. Well, at least he looked like the sickly side. My eyes widened as the nurse left him with me. He didn't seem surprised to see my shock. I'm fact, he seemed like he had expected it.

"I know it's shocking to see my face," He said, softly, "But I assure you I am not the man you saw earlier today."

"B-But…" my mind could wrap around what I was seeing. But he had confirmed it. They were two different people.

He pulled up a chair beside the hospital bed. "Honestly, I didn't know what to think seeing that guy laying there. I almost passed out myself." He sighed. "But if there was one good thing that came out of this, it's that you weren't harmed. At least, not much." He gestures to my hand.

"I guess so." I muttered.

My thoughts suddenly turned to my family. "Oh crap! My mom and brother! Where are they? Do they know I'm here?" I asked frantically. He eventually got me to take it easy and assured me they knew I was alright.

"I personally told them you were alright, Young Midoriya." He said. "They're waiting downstairs, and will be up here soon. I just needed to ask you a few things." He asked me a few general questions about myself, and what brought me to the area of the incident. He asked me what I saw, and described it to him in detail. Though, I left out the part of where the guy spoke to me and asked me to take his power. I found it strange that I didn't feel very different. My mom and brother were brought in after he finished up. I don't think I had seen her this worried in a while. It made me feel guilty, even though I knew I couldn't have done anything. Though my thoughts began to drift to the moment the guy died. Maybe if I had been less hesitant, he could have been saved.

Kaito was taken back and I was excused from coming to school for the day. I pressed my mother to let me, but she insisted I rest at home after what I had witnessed. Maybe she was right. That scene kept playing over and over in my head. I sat on the couch, lost in my thoughts. My mom had to go back to work so I had plenty of time to reflect.

It wasn't too long after she had left, but I suddenly heard the detective's voice. I turned to our front door and noticed no one was there. I thought maybe I was hearing things until I heard it again.

"Izuku Midoriya." It said; I started to freak out. Even when it assured me there was nothing to worry about. Suddenly, he appeared in front of me. It was the same form as Detective Yagi: with the hollowed cheeks and sunken eyes. He was wearing a white t-shirt, with large, green and saggy cargo pants. He had black boots and a belt with a large silver buckle. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Is it a ghost? I thought to myself. A vision? Hallucination maybe?

"I'm none of those." He said, like he could hear me.

"W-What!?" I gasped. "You can hear me?"

He nodded. "Yeah, I can hear you just fine, kid." He said, putting his hands on his hips. "Now, you might want to talk to me via your thoughts. Don't want the neighbors thinking you're crazy, right?"

I nodded in response. "So, um..." I said, projecting my thoughts to him. "Who are you? How are you here? Didn't you die?"

"Yeah, I guess I did." He muttered as he scratched his head. "Don't get me wrong, I honestly have been trying to get your attention since you fainted."

"For real? Then… that dream was you?" I asked, hoping it wasn't just my imagination.

"Yeah. I don't know why it turned out the way it did, but oh well." He said, sitting on the couch next to me. From what I could tell, he wasn't even making an impression in the material. "First time I've died, so this is kind of new for me too. As for who I am, my name is the same as that detective from earlier. I am Toshinori Yagi, and I was a hero in my world, and I went by the name of All Might."

"How are you even here? Is this a part of your power?"

All Might shook his head. "I don't really know." He replied. "I've never been able to speak with our predecessors before."

"Our… predecessors?" I asked in confusion. "Does this mean you weren't the first to use this power?"

"Yeah, to be honest, I was just like you." He replied, sitting back. "What I have passed on to you is what's known in my world as a 'Quirk'. And from where I came from, about eighty percent of the population had one of their own. Each one was unique, though some were indeed similar. My Quirk, however, was not naturally born like the rest."

"What do you mean?" I asked, intrigued. I was having a conversation I never thought I would have. And I was way past not believing it. A man came crashing from the sky after all.

"It's quite a long story, Young Midoriya." He said. "And, it might not even seem possible compared to what I've already told you." I was incredibly curious, so I nodded right away. The suspense was killing me.

All Might smiled and began his story. "Years ago, in another universe, Quirks flourished in society. There was a man who had one Quirk in particular, which granted him the ability to steal others' quirks and either pass them on, or keep them for himself. He took the name of his Quirk as his own, calling himself 'All for One'. He became power hungry and began to build up what seemed like an army of followers. Now, that man had a sickly younger brother, who had no Quirk. No one knows why All for One did this, maybe out of pity or trying to make his brother submit to his power. But he forced a power, a quirk that allowed one to stockpile power within one's body, into that of the younger brother. But the one thing All for one didn't count on, was that his brother wasn't really quirkless."

I was in awe. I watched his face as he told the story. He couldn't be making this up, he was talking in such intricate detail.

"As it turned out," He continued, "The younger brother had a Quirk that would, on its own, be deemed weak and useless. A power that allowed him to transfer his quirk to another through his DNA. The two Quirks then merged, to become something powerful and much greater than the two brothers could have imagined. They became a power, a torch, that would be passed on from person to person, to be a tool to protect others and fight the darkness of the world. It became known as 'One for All'. On his own, the younger brother knew he couldn't win against All for One. He passed it on to another hero, and he to the next, and it grew in power as it was passed on. But, All for One was killed by another Quirk user, not too long after the younger brother passed it on."

That struck me as odd. It seemed that One for All was the counterpart of All for One. So how come All for One was taken out by someone else? I noticed the facial expression of All Might's face had changed. It held an extremely dark and ominous look to it. "The man who killed him was sneaky." He said, his fist clenched. "He killed All for One while he was about to kill his younger brother. And he didn't even use his Quirk to do it. Nothing special, he just slit his throat from behind."

I wanted to puke hearing that. But how was that possible? All Might began to explain that All for One had a quirk that let him sense his surroundings, so he couldn't have snuck up on him without All for One knowing he was there. It was a mystery, but it was the truth.

"The man who killed him had a devastating quirk of his own." All Might said grimly. "It wasn't a quirk that would do him much good in a fight, but rather it was one that could cause chaos and destroy worlds. The younger brother tried, but couldn't stop him. The quirk finally exploded and sent both the younger brother and the man smashing through the time/space barrier. They ended up in another universe and the doomsday clock reset on the man's quirk. It causes random and chaotic events, earning it the name Chaos. The man who wielded it became known as Catalyst. World after world he destroyed, mine being the eighth. And now, unless we stop him, he will destroy yours."

"What makes you so sure he's here?" I asked. It was a logical question, or at least I thought it was. What if he went to another world this time.

All Might leaned over, resting his chin on his now clasped hands. "If that were the case, then there would be little chance of that world's survival." He said. "Unless there was someone who was powerful enough to beat him, that world would be annihilated."

"Is there no way to tell for sure?" I asked, hoping for at least some good news. If there was a way to tell if he was in our world, then that meant they had a chance.

To my relief, All Might nodded. "Yes, there actually is." He turned to face me, his face slightly less grim. "It's possible to know he's here if those same random and chaotic events were to begin showing up. But the drawback would be that the countdown would have started." It made sense. If his quirk indeed had a designated charging sequence, the moment it activated would mean they had that chance to find him. But if they couldn't stop him in time, it was game over.

"Then teach me, All Might!" I said after a brief moment of silence. "Teach me how to use One for All!" The grim face he once held seemed to disappear, now replaced with a smirk. He explained that it would be difficult to handle One for All, which meant a lot of training to allow my body to handle it. We made a deal that after school the next day, we would find a place far off and begin my body's conditioning. With that settled, I realised how much time had passed. My mother and Kaito would be home soon, so I got started on dinner.

That night, I had trouble falling asleep with all that was on my mind. The fact I now had a superpower, a Quirk, was incredible. I thought back to when I was young, when our father was still alive. He always taught me to stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves. I eventually burned that memory in the back of my mind, and did so whenever I could. Even though I was weak myself. Now, I had the power to actually make a difference. To save people's lives. And with All Might's Guidance, I could do just that.

"I'll become a hero." I vowed quietly to myself, before I drifted into the land of dreams.

In a dark alley, a man stood leaning against a wall. He wore a black hoodie and grey sweatpants. His tattered sneakers had no strings and he wore no socks. He puffed out smoke. He was waiting to meet someone, to keep a promise he made earlier that day. And to fulfil his purpose. He pulled a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket and lit one.

Soon enough, another man walked into the alley and grunted. He was rather tall, hair tied back in dreadlocks. He had a muscular build, and menacing brown eyes. He wore a black tank top and blue jeans. He growled as he approached the guy who called him out earlier.

"So, you finally gonna tell me what this shit's about?" He asked.

The hooded man chuckled as he blew out smoke. "I told you I could give you power." He replied, standing up and walking in front of his visitor. "And I always keep my promises, Sean."

The large man laughed. "Stop playing games and wasting my time!"

The hooded man made a tsking sound. "Harsh words." He said, raising his hand. "Give it twenty-four hours, and you'll be able to see what I mean." He touched Sean's shoulder, and the man felt something spread through his body, causing him to jolt. His eyes widened in shock, not expecting the man to actually do anything. He figured he was just some crackhead.

"Just what the heck did you do to me? Sean said, grabbing the guy by the hoodie.

The guy just chuckled. His green eyes glinting in the shadow of his hood. "Come tomorrow night," He said, "No one will be able to stop you from doing what you want. Take what you want."

"And what do you get out of it?" Sean growled.

The man lifted his head, his wicked grin now showing. "I get to see the world burn and chaos rule."
