Also, Pony's height has been changed to be taller in this story, Aizawa teaches 1B and Inasa is in U.A. and in Class 1B.
I also made a mistake in the story. In the original story, the USJ attack didn't take place on the same day the media breached through the school. Apologies for the continuity error on my part.

Chapter 19
The day turned almost to quickly to night, but that didn't stop the amount of news coverage of today's events regarding the attack at the U.A. facility.
Every news station in Japan was talking about it. Each of them questioning how there could be such a massive security breach on U.A. ground, who was it that lead the attack and also about the schools overall safety were the common topics of discussion.
The talking heads were going on and on repeating the same information, and that coverage made one particular person sick.
"Turn it off," A tired and dry voice commanded.
The command was met as the television in the dimly lit empty lounge bar was shut off.
Quiet filled the bar for a while, before the rough sound of scratching dried skin could be heard echoing all around the room.
"All of those underlings… and the Nomu… and we didn't even take out a hero or a student!"
The person raving about the recent events was Tomura Shigaraki. The disembodied hand that covered the villains face was gone, revealing his wrinkly, dry face and his swollen nose for everyone to see.
He held an ice pack on his nose, trying to relive the pain from the steel-like punch he received to the face as he was leaving USJ through Kurogiri's portal.
His misty partner was also with him in the dimly lit lounge, the metal brace that was damaged during the attack now replaced with a new one.
The mood in the bar could be summarize with one word. Disappointment.
Shigaraki had access to the tools necessary to take out All Might permanently and no doubt he could have taken out some U.A. students and teachers, but in the end, he still walked away a failure.
The rescue specialist Thirteen was greatly damaged, but the news stations reported that she would be recovering from the injuries.
But the biggest mindfuck was that irked him to no end was what happened to the Underground Hero, Eraserhead.
Shigaraki saw it with his own damn eyes, the hero was mangled in every way possible, looking like a mishandled corpse by the amount of injuries he sustained from the Nomu's beatdown, only for the underground hero to later run around USJ as if nothing ever happened to him. He even had a brief appearance on one of the news stations.
He had no idea what happened for Eraserhead to be fully healed from his injuries so quickly, but it only drew more ire from the main orchestrator of the USJ attack as he was talking it over with some people.
"This whole plan was a wash Master! The Symbol of Peace clearly wasn't weakened at all!"
Shigaraki was talking to a pair of television screens. Screens that showed nothing but "SOUND ONLY" in big pink letters.
"Don't think of this as a failure Tomura, we just weren't as prepared as we should've been," A deep and courtly voice on TV 1 replied,
"I agree, we underestimated All Might... and those students," An older voice spoke through TV 2, "Thankfully, we failed under that cheap "League of Villains" name, but still, it's a shame about what happened to the Nomu. After all we did to make it as powerful as All Might…"
The Nomu that was supposed to dispose of All Might had not only lost to the hero, it also got detained by the authorities. Thankfully for them, the Nomu isn't capable of conversating with anyone, so the police will get nothing of importance from the monster.
"Yes… but it can't be helped, we at least know that we need to make the next one stronger than the last," TV 1 stated.
While the two voices from the TV were chatting on where they should go from here, Shigaraki's mind was stuck on what it was that stopped them from achieving their goals today.
"Those kids…" Shigaraki seethed, "If it weren't for those brats, the Symbol of Peace would've been gone!" He went back to scratching his neck, seething again about the students of U.A.
"Naturally, you're upset Shigaraki, but this was not a futile mission," TV 1 consoled, "I'd say that we've learned quite a bit today. Recruit some stronger allies and take all the time you need before you strike again."
Shigaraki's scratching died down as his master began to speak.
He agreed with what he was saying. Underneath today's failure, quite a bit was learned. Shigaraki was ready to strike again and given how they happened to fail against a bunch of U.A. students, he was determined to strike them in particular.
However, his master said that he'd need to gather stronger allies, a task that was much easier said than done. Shigaraki went with a quantity over quality mindset when recruiting villains for his plan, which turned out to be a big mistake. The people he gathered for the USJ raid were weak and easy to manipulate, but they weren't even a match for the students, so he would need to do some real research to recruit some powerful and useful allies.
"Will do master. What about you though, what will you be doing in the midst of this?" Shigaraki questioned.
TV 1 hummed before responding, "I must remain hidden in the shadows. That is precisely why I need you to be my face. Become a symbol of your own Tomura Shigaraki. Show the world that it should be petrified of you!"
The connection to TV1 cut off. The closing words from the TV had filled Shigaraki with a sense of motivation.
The pale blue haired villain placed the icebag that was on his face down on the bar counter.
"I'll get to work on creating some more Nomu's. Now that we know the extent of the prototype's power, I'll be sure to amp up its abilities. Take care Shigaraki," TV 2 followed up, before disconnecting.
Shigaraki went over to his sole disembodied hand that usually remained on his face, picked it up and studied it.
"Remain hidden in the shadows huh? Perhaps I should take that approach as well…" Shigaraki spoke indistinctly.
He placed the hand back down onto the counter and formed a small grin, "Kurogiri, begin the scouting process again, and this time make sure you find me the real deal."
"Yes sir."
…
["Yeah, everything's okay dad. I was just resting in the nurse's office."]
["… Alright. Take care of yourself, okay Matvey?"]
["I will, take to you later dad."]
A beep filled the empty school hallway, as the phone call between a father and son had ended.
Matvey was making his way out of the school, ready to leave after getting some much needed rest and an inspection from the U.A. school nurse Recovery Girl.
He had no recollection of today's events, oddly enough.
From what Recovery Girl told him, there was a villain attack at USJ. Thankfully, everyone was going to be okay.
Him not remembering anything about a villain attack as big as this one was pretty concerning, but at least he was alright.
He had not a bump nor bruise on him, which was a relief to say the least.
However, when he awoke from his unconscious state, he was still wearing his hero costume and one look at it told him that whatever happened to him, must've been serious as his black undershirt had some stains of blood on it.
He wanted to ask the nurse what happened to cause those stains, but unfortunately Recovery Girl couldn't provide Matvey an answer.
When she arrived to USJ, she found the pink haired student passed out on the ground.
After Recovery Girl did many tests, she allowed Matvey to finally leave after holding him through most of the evening.
When he got up, he changed from his hero costume into his school uniform and left the nurse's office where he immediately got a call from his father. The school had sent calls out to the student's parents and Radomir wanted to immediately get a hold of his son. He was fearing the worst when Matvey wouldn't pick up his phone, but that was only because he resting in the nurses office.
But back to now.
Matvey pulled his phone back from his pocket and checked his social media accounts to see the reports about today's news. He was walking towards the exit door in the direction of the courtyard entrance.
"Seems like you're okay."
The Russian inwardly groaned. His memory for what had happened today might be gone, but he didn't have complete amnesia, as he knew quite well who that voice belonged to, as he can still remember the tenseness he had about him.
Matvey locked his phone and placed it back into his pocket at a reluctant pace as his homeroom teacher was the last person he wanted to talk to at this time.
He turned around and saw him not wearing the grey scarf that usually concealed his mouth.
"Y-Yeah, Recovery Girl said that I'm clear of any harm done," Matvey informed.
With the Russian student now awake, Aizawa wanted to ask him about what he did, but he knew that it's for the best to just let Matvey go home and let him get some rest.
"Well that's good to hear. I know your memory is hazy about what happened today, but you and your classmates did well in your first encounter with actual villains," Aizawa praised.
The praise didn't really mean much to Matvey as he didn't even know what he did and the amount of blood in his hair and costume only made him more concerned with what really happened.
"Thanks… but… can you tell me exactly what happened today? I saw the blood on my costume and-"
Aizawa put his hand out to stop Matvey from speaking any further, "I can explain it to you when you come back to school, but for now, you need to go home and get some rest. Speaking of home… it's getting pretty dark out, think you'll need a ride?" Aizawa offered.
The other 1B students were able to all go, including Kendo who went home with a cast on her hand.
It was well past school hours, and it was beginning to turn dark now, and it looked like it might rain at any moment if the clouds were any indication.
"Thanks for the offer, but I can make it back myself," Matvey declined, "besides there's no classes tomorrow, right?"
"Yes. Tomorrow, school will be off as we'll be meeting with Police Force and the HPSC to discuss what happened. We still haven't discussed when it will be appropriate to let you all back to school yet."
"Right, so it's not like I have to rush home or anything. The trains are still running, and I made sure to pack an umbrella, so I'm all good," Matvey insisted.
Aizawa wanted to ensure Matvey got home safely, but he didn't want to force the kid in taking him on his offer.
Not to mention, Aizawa could still sense that Matvey may still have some animosity towards him from what went down at the Recommendation Exam and being stuck with the teacher that put down his family might be awkward for the two of them.
"Well, if you say you're okay then… get home safely," Aizawa said before walking in the other direction as the parking lot was at the opposite site of the courtyard.
"You too," Matvey said back, starting his walk towards the train station.
…
Matvey made it to train station without issue and thankfully there was no rain to sour his mood.
The train ride was quiet and due to how late it was, not a lot of people were inside it. Which was good for the usually extroverted Matvey, as he was able to take a booth all for himself.
He had a lot on his mind after all, so being able to sit back, pop in his air pods and blast his music to the max as the train carried him home was immensely needed.
Matvey musical tastes were… quite strange for a boy his age and nationality. He's really big into pop music that comes over from America and is from the 80's. The jacket to his hero costume was inspired by the 80's (much like his teacher expected) as well as the way his hair was styled over his eye.
His taste for that variety of music came when he was 11.
His father would sign him up to spar and fight kids his age. He would train in his home country in Russia, travel with his father to Brazil and Thailand where he fought and learned Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai.
He would also train in some American Gyms as well, due to the fact that his father may have had some big fights over there at that time.
Matvey at age 11 was going through rough patch in his fights, having trouble with actually studying his opponent's moves, when to go for the kill, how not to panic in the face of adversity, etc.
One time, after a tough loss in a junior Muay Thai competition in Las Vegas; Matvey's father, Radomir Zhuravlyov, took him back to a fight gym where they would work nearly all night to improve his movement.
It was very frustrating, as throughout the night Matvey wasn't having much luck in improving his footwork to his father's liking.
Matvey remembered that he was a sweating and worn-out mess, completely laid out on the ground in exhaustion when his father issued a break before they would continue.
While on the ground, all he could do was look up at the ceiling. He couldn't move his body at all as he was practically glued to the gym mat he was laid out on.
All he could do was blink and listen to what was happening around him.
It was late, so not many people were present in the gym.
The only thing he could hear was the daily rotation of music that was playing over the speakers all around the building.
The song playing over the speakers was Hypnotize Me by Wang Chung, but Matvey didn't know that. He didn't even know the lyrics to the song as he practically did not understand English at that age. He was just listening to the tune as the synths started playing the songs signature riff.
Matvey's ears was letting the music in with open arms, as the catchy 80's synthpop song acted like a defibrillator, bringing much needed energy to the tired child.
He was able to sit up and wrap his arms around his tucked in knees as he was beginning to catch his breath.
The song was now back to its chorus as Matvey's left shoulder began to bounce along to the lyrics.
"Alright, let's get back to it,"
Matvey was too entranced by the track to notice his father coming back.
He got back up to his feet and began to do more footwork drills again, only this time, he played the song that he heard in his head.
And to Matvey's surprise, the track actually helped him. It made him move more freely, natural and confident where before he was more uncoordinated and prone to making basic mistakes.
Since then, he would start listening to more 80's songs as a way to improve not only his focus and footwork, but also his strikes and especially his timing. Helping him quite a lot in his amateur fights and competitions, so much so he never lost in them again since.
Matvey's father found his sons love for 80's music strange, but never questioned it as he realized that it was actually helping his son improve in his fights.
Radomir thought that it was just a phase his son was going through, but fast forward to a 15-year-old Matvey and he's still listening to the same style of music reminiscent of that era.
Matvey even based his hero costume around the 80's as well, with the jacket he wears being a big indicator of that.
Back to the present, Matvey rested his head against the window of the train with his air pods playing his favorite songs.
He decided to play the group that got him into 80's music, Wang Chung. He played their album Mosaic and allowed it to whisk him away for the remainder of the train ride.
…
*Meanwhile, in a small apartment in Musutafu*
Togaru, the usually unsociable and hostile teen, was currently prepping a dinner for himself.
With the use of his Razor-Sharp quirk, he cut some green onions to put the finishing touches of his dinner consisted of natto beans over rice.
He cleaned all the utensils and pots he used to make his meal and went over to the small two-person table to finally eat.
He lived in a rundown small one-bedroom apartment. He slept on the living room futon, trying to make the best of the living situation he was in as he shared the house with someone else.
The mantis boy was about to take a bite from his dinner before his cellphone started going off, overplaying over the buzzing sound that came from the lights in his small apartment.
He put his fork down and reached over to his phone to answer it.
"Hello?"
"Hey there Togaru! What'cha doin?" A female voice over in the other line spoke.
Togaru put his phone on speaker mode and placed it down on the table so he can eat his food.
"Just made dinner, some Natto and Rice."
"Again? Don't you get tired from eating the same thing?"
"It's a cheap and easy to make. It's not like we have a lot of money flowing in so I can eat some extravagant feast."
A sigh was let out on the other end, "I know… I'm just saying… try to switch it up every once and while you know? It sucks coming home, having to smell that crap."
"Well you shouldn't have to worry, I actually cleaned everything, so when you come home it shouldn't be a problem," Togaru assured in a bored tone, "Besides, I'm pretty sure you'll be coming home late, judging on what happened today."
"Yeah… We're currently in the process of booking the 71 criminals that attacked you guys at the USJ, so yeah I'll be coming home late today or might be in early tomorrow, who knows…" The female voice joked, "Well in any case, I'm glad you and your classmates are all okay. See you later Togaru!"
Togaru reached for his phone and hovered his finger over the red end call button.
"You too Suma."
He pressed the end call button and went back to his dinner.
As he was eating his dinner, he examined the state of his apartment.
Before however, he was living in an orphanage, bouncing from foster home to foster home with no end in sight.
The foster home that he once shared with Suma years ago was the only home where he really felt like he belonged, but due to his quirk manifesting at the wrong time, that happiness was stripped away from him in no time.
Suma's parents sent the boy back to the orphanage and from there it was again an endless cycle of new home after new home.
It was always the same thing. After some time, his new parents would get afraid of Togaru's quirk and cold personality and would eventually send him back in under a week.
That all changed however when he finally turned 14.
Ever since the incident, Togaru was placed in quirk counseling, where he learned to keep his quirk hidden from the public, to make him be afraid of himself.
There was one special visitor who occasionally came to his orphanage. A visitor who was familiar to the boy and it was none other than his former foster sister Suma.
The brown-haired girl was waltzing about the orphanage and was kindly talking to the caretakers.
She looked almost the same from how Togaru remembered her. Only she was taller and was now an adult. The other difference being her large unsettling scar that ran across her left eye. A scar that haunted Togaru as he was the one who caused it.
Togaru just came back from his quirk counseling when he saw her finish talking with the care takers.
It was only after that when he learned that Suma actually wanted to adopt him.
Foster children have the right to refuse adoption and Togaru was very hesitant to go along with Suma. Seeing the result of what he did to her all those years ago, it almost convinced him wanting to stay at the orphanage, but looking into her in her kind and warm eyes, he just couldn't refuse and in the end he decided to at least give it a chance.
He didn't have any friends at the orphanage or at school anyway, so having a familiar face around him would be good for his health.
And that's how his once foster sister was now his foster mom. It was weird at first.
Togaru's previous relationship with Suma was a good indicator how different this adoption might be compared to his previous ones. He would be going to a home with someone who knows and deeply cares about him, which was something, but he still wasn't through the moon about the whole thing. He's been through so many homes that he didn't see how staying with her would be any different.
But here he is, still living with Suma… his mom….
Nevertheless, because of the incident caused by her new foster child, Suma had her wishes of becoming a hero unfortunately pushed away. Due to the timing of it all, she missed out on attending U.A.'s hero exam as well as the start of the next school year.
As a result, it was tough for her to join any school's hero program, therefor prompting her to pursue a career as a police officer.
Her quirk was Extend, which allowed her to move her limbs and neck as if they were a measuring tape. She had trained her quirk to the point where she had a lot of control and she was immensely creative with it, so it was a shame that she had to move on from her dreams.
Her job in the police force isn't all that bad though. Though they aren't as glamorized as the heroes, the police are almost as impactful when it comes to cleaning the streets.
She gets a steady income for herself and after finding out that her former foster brother was still an orphan, she did the necessary paperwork to get the rights to adopt a child.
When she adopted Togaru, she informed him that he would have to sleep on a futon couch in the living room, which he was fine with really. It was actually more comfortable and bigger than the bed he had at the orphanage.
Togaru knew that Suma's salary wasn't really suited for her to raise another person, so to help with the finances, Togaru was able to land himself a part time job at a local convenience store, where he worked during the afternoon and night shifts.
Thankfully, he had the today off, leaving him alone in the apartment for the night.
Being alone also left Togaru to explore his inner thoughts. He was thinking about what happened today at USJ and how couldn't he?
He was thinking about what he did. Him springing into action, using his quirk without fear, and cutting off the Nomu's arms to free All Might. He had actually saved All Might. ALL MIGHT! HIM!
He initially joined the school after his sister kept on encouraging to try his luck.
Togaru could still remember what they said to each other when Suma was in the hospital. She told the young boy that she would make him her sidekick when she becomes a real pro hero.
Unfortunately, that train left ages ago, but to Suma, Togaru still had a chance.
She didn't want to force Togaru to live out her dream, but when they were kids Togaru shared the same dreams as her. Since that unfortunate day where he slashed her face, those dreams of his has died.
But she still wanted him to try out for the exam, if not to live out his former dream of being a hero, then for him to feel more confident with himself.
She even went so far to train him and tried making him feel somewhat comfortable while using his quirk, doing all she could to dump out what they told him during his time in quirk counseling.
He primarily used his quirk in nonviolent ways, cutting inanimate objects and barriers, using them to climb things, intimidation, etc.
It was a tough task, but thankfully, Togaru did enough to get accepted into the hero course. It was also very convenient that he had to deal with robots, so it wasn't too nerve-wracking for him
This was great news, not that Togaru would show it though.
He wasn't the same cheerful kid back then who wanted to be a hero over almost anything. He decided to attend the school to mainly get better control of his quirk.
Even after today, with All Might thanking him and giving him praise. Even if it felt great and was a big boost of confidence, his goal still remained the same.
Finishing his dinner, Togura cleaned everything and went to bed, happy that he can actually sleep as long as he wants, due to the fact that school was going to be closed.
…
*In a suburban home on the affluent side of town*
The audio of the current news channel filled Inasa's living room.
They were still covering the events that took place at USJ, with more and more information coming out as time goes on.
Inasa Yoarashi was laying down in his living room couch, watching the coverage with full attention.
"Geez they're still talking about that?" A female voice came from behind the couch Inasa was comfortably sitting on.
"Why wouldn't they? The number one school in Japan gets attacked, it's a pretty big deal," Inasa answered without taking his eyes off the TV for even a second.
A groan was released almost immediately, "There you go again. ~U.A. this, U.A. that. Number one! Plus Ultra! ~" the voice from behind said it in a mocking and childish tone before coming to join Inasa on the couch, "I swear, you're such a simp for that school."
The girl that sat down next to Inasa was his older sister, Hinata Yoarashi.
She was much shorter than Inasa and her face was about as intense as his. The difference? She usually had a scowl or a look of indifference on hers.
Hinata had more hair than her little brother. Her black hair was short, reaching her lowermost part of her jaw with her bangs covering the right side of head.
"Hey!" Inasa shouted offended, "… What's a simp?", before shifting his face to one of confusion.
Upon hearing Inasa's innocent question, Hinata could only laugh at her brother's cluelessness.
"A simp can be described as someone who exceedingly expresses affection or support for someone or something that doesn't reciprocate those feelings back," Another voice from behind defined it for Inasa.
Inasa turned around, "Thanks Takibi!"
The person Inasa was thanking was his older brother Takibi Yoarashi, the middle triplet of the Yoarashi household.
Takibi, like Hinata, was shorter than Inasa, who despite being the youngest among the triplets was somehow towering each of them.
Hinata, Takibi and Inasa are fraternal triplets, which is something that nobody gets. Due to the height difference Inasa has over his two older siblings, everyone assumes that Inasa was the oldest out of the three, they get even more surprised when they learn that the three of them are triplets.
Takibi also had more hair than Inasa (which isn't saying much.) He has a black messy buzz cut.
To add insult to injury, Inasa was not only larger in height than his older brother, he was also more developed in the muscle deparment. Takibi had overall a slim but muscular frame, much like Hinata. He also wore glasses, which only made the three siblings look that much more different from each other.
While Inasa was passionate and loud, Hinata was more crass and wild and Takibi was reformed and patient.
Even their quirks are different from each other.
Inasa quirk was his ability to manipulate the wind. Hinata's ability granted her the ability to turn her body and skin into whatever it was she was standing on. It didn't matter what, be it dirt, stones ,wood or even diamonds. Depending on the size and amount she was stepping on, it determines the pace in which her body transforms to the material. If her whole foot is touching wood, the faster it'll take for her to transform to wood.
Now Takibi's quirk allowed him to form burning hot plasma from his fingers. The plasma was able to cut through most things and because they came from his fingers, he uses them as if they were claws.
Their parents both worked in the hero field. Their Mom was a pro and their father helped in terms of Support.
The Yoarashi's have a small hero agency that mainly hires family or those really close to them.
The family also has a great history and legacy with Shiketsu High School as they all went through there, which is why they wanted their kids to attend there as well.
They managed to get two-thirds of their wish fulfilled fulfill however.
While in his last year in middle school, Inasa suddenly wanted to take U.A. recommendations exam. His parents were first against it, as they wanted him to attend the same school as they did and join his sister and brother as a first-year there, but after much begging and pleading, they allowed Inasa to take the test and just like they expected… and feared, Inasa managed to be at the top of the recommended students.
They were upset and mostly confused about Inasa's choice, but if he wanted to attend a different school, they didn't want to stop him.
Back to the current conversation between the three siblings.
"Thanks Takibi!" said Inasa, before turning his attention back to his sister sitting right next to him and scoffed at her, "No I'm not Hinata. You're just jealous that I made it to U.A. while you decided to settle with Shiketsu."
Hinata let out a low groan, "You really think I'd want to go to U.A.? It's like on the other side of town from us. Shiketsu's a quick walk for me and Takibi, meanwhile you have to trek nearly all of Musutafu to get to your school," Hinata countered, "And besides, if I did want to go to U.A. and I took that recommendations exam with you… I'd be first on that list."
Inasa gave a hearty laugh at his sister's confident take, "You'd be first? You really think that?"
"Me and Hinata are undeniably at the top of our class, so who's to say?" Takibi questioned.
"That's right! Are you even the best in yours?" Hinata questioned.
Inasa was about to answer her question with a resounding yes, but he remembered the events that took place today.
While bantering with his siblings, Inasa seemingly forgot about the villain attack that he and his class went through.
While Inasa wasn't there for the entire duration of the villain's attack on the class, he had the very important task of bringing help.
It was very intense for the passionate teen, but he was able to do what was needed and ensured his classmates safety by running into All Might and brought him where he was needed most.
When he came back to USJ with the rest of the teachers and staff, he expected All Might to have already disposed of the villains, but he also feared for the worst and his imagination was running wild, as he feared he might return to find one or all of his classmates and or teachers killed from the attack.
But as expected when he actually came back he saw that everyone was very much okay. The only person who was truly hurt was Thirteen, but she's expected to make a full recovery soon.
While the class was outside getting treated and answered varying questions, they also started telling each other of their time during the incident and what they did when they got teleported by the mist villain.
Inasa had heard everyone's story and developed an overwhelming sense of pride and joy. He was worried that his friends would be killed, but his friends actually acted like heroes and protected each other from danger.
"… After what happened today, I'm not sure…" Inasa trailed, "But that just makes my class all the more exciting! Them being able take care of villains like a bunch of pros just shows me that I'm no doubt with the best students in all of the world!"
The two siblings quirked an eyebrow at her brother's loud response.
"… Man you're weird, you know that?" Hinata stated, before getting up from the couch.
Inasa was about to respond, but Takibi interrupted him.
"Well in any case, we're really glad you're okay," he imparted genuinely, before leaving the living room to get some sleep. Unlike U.A., Shiketsu was still going to be open tomorrow.
"Good night, enjoy your time off," Hinata said bitterly, leaving the living room and got to her room for some much-needed sleep.
"I will!" Inasa gleefully gloated.
He heard first Takibi's door close and then Hinata's.
With his parents out on the field for the night, Inasa could probably stay up for a little bit longer. And that's what he opted to do, turning the volume up on the TV as more information about the breach at USJ was getting revealed.
…
Matvey's train ride was near its end and he had nearly gone through the entire Wang Chung album.
With his head still resting against the window, he closed his eyes for a bit as the music helped his mind drift away from the quiet train ride and all thoughts and questions, he had regarding what happened today and why he doesn't remember it.
He was quietly humming the lyrics to "Eyes of the Girl" when he slowly opened his eyes, ready to get off when the train reaches his stop.
Matvey was looking at his reflection in the window, but he noticed something strange. Something very, very strange.
What peaked the boy's curiosity was a faint glow appearing somewhere above his head.
While bopping his head to the song, he looked up and saw something he's never seen before.
In the reflection of the train window, Matvey saw a glowing pink halo hovering right above his head.
Seeing the strange light, Matvey let out a yelp and jumped out of the booth in surprise.
The reaction had earned him strange looks from all the other passengers in the train car.
The Russian student looked around the train car and realized that his actions may have been foolish and strange to the other passengers, leaping from his seat like that, but he had a really valid reason for it.
He looked back at the window to try and explain to himself, but when he returned his gaze back at the window… there was no halo.
Matvey began to animatedly wave his hands above his head to try and see if the halo was still there, despite it not being reflected in the window.
"Um… T-There was a pink halo…" Matvey claimed awkwardly to himself.
The train's brakes were beginning to screech, which Matvey was truly grateful for as he just wanted to go home.
The train fully stopped and opened its doors, prompting Matvey to make a hasty exit from the confused and judging eyes of the train passengers.
…
When Matvey finally reached home, he immediately took off his school uniform and changed into some regular clothes.
After that he ran to the bathroom and looked himself in the mirror, inspecting everything from his neck up to see if he was okay.
Everything looked normal, which only made what Matvey saw in his reflection while on the train all the more bizarre.
Then, it hit him.
"Wait… that pink halo. Does it have anything to do with my quirk?" He thought out loud, "A halo would tie in with my Angel Wings quirk… but I've never seen it before."
He wasn't crazy. He knows what he saw back there, but he doesn't know how it got there or what made it show up above his head.
Another thing that got his mind racing was the color of the halo he saw.
The angels that are usually shown (In westernized artworks) depicts angels with fluffy white wings. Matvey's were pink, the exact same tone of pink like his hair.
From the little bit of time Matvey saw the halo, which should be a shinning yellow, was instead a glowing pink. Another thing, his hair color that was below the halo looked a little similar to it, though he's not too sure about that, as he wasn't really paying attention if the exact shades of pink matched.
Matvey first developed his quirk when he was 5. His family was confused by it at first as it didn't really match or relate to anyone on his fathers' side, and Matvey's father told him that his birth mother's quirk didn't either.
"Maybe I can recreate it? Just dose off and relax to some music again and it'll come back. Yeah… that should do it…"
Matvey got himself prepared for bed and played some music to re-create what might've caused the halo to appear.
He didn't have class tomorrow, so he had all night and day to do his experiment.
He went to the music player on his phone and hit shuffle.
"Okay… let's do this!"
…
And… nothing.
For the days he had off from school, Matvey couldn't re-create what had happened on the train.
He called his father and told him about what he saw on the train, but his father said he never saw anything like that when he was growing up.
His test consisted of him getting lost in the music he was playing before slowly turning his head to a mirror to see if the pink halo returned… and it didn't.
He believed that his halo appears only when his eyes are closed, so he had Midoriya as an assistant/witness in his experiment, but he too saw nothing.
Though he got nothing to show from his many attempts, he still believed that what he saw on the train was real and Matvey wasn't just going to just give up.
With U.A. open again, the best time he could try to re-create the halo would be when he got home after classes.
He forcibly dragged himself out of bed and got prepared for school.
…
The Russian student was now walking through the school's entrance gate along with his neighbor Midoriya.
The sound of power tools generating sparks were heard above the gate as the school had decided to not only repair it, but to also boost up their security system to stop any similar breaks to happen again in the future.
"Think they might start doing pat-downs soon?" Matvey joked to Midoriya.
"Only if the school wants to be up their neck in lawsuits," A voice unbeknownst to the two neighbors made itself known.
They both looked over to their side and saw the Class 1B representative Jurota.
"Good day to you two," He greeted. "I hope you both enjoyed the break from our classes."
All Matvey let out was an indifferent "meh", a response that stemmed from the fact that he didn't do anything productive or worth his time during the break.
"My break was good." Midoriya responded, "Speaking of which, I saw your interview on the news Jurota."
When the situation at USJ had ended, the media came swarming in at the scene shoving a camera and microphone in anyone and anybody's face. The teachers and heroes tried their best to have the students avoid the media, but when the students walked off campus, they couldn't do anything.
Many students were interviewed, but their words printed in online articles anonymously. The only student to make the news was Jurota.
He handled himself and answered the questions in a very composed fashion, not to mention, he was actually present at USJ when the breach took place
They asked him about his thoughts on what happened and he responded as truthfully as he could, saying that U.A. should tighten up its security.
"Yes, I was truly surprised when they aired just my interview. Truth be told, I probably should have said nothing to them, I think I only added more legitimacy to people's questioning of U.A.'s safety over its students."
Midoriya tried to waive off Jurota's concerns, "It's not like you were wrong there. Before the villains attacked USJ, the media was able to break through the entrance gate that same day,"
"Wait hold up… the media breached through the gate as well?" Matvey questioned.
"They did indeed," Jurota responded, "Seeing on how you don't even remember that happening, it seems that your memory still hasn't returned yet."
Matvey nodded his head, "Yeah. Mr. Aizawa did say that he would fill me in on what happened though, so I have that to look forward to," Matvey whinged.
"Well in any case, what happened back then is behind us now. We now have our first real experience with fighting villains, and I believe that we all came out better for it," Jurota claimed with a proud tone.
"Your class does," Midoriya said, "Me and my class haven't really been through that kind of experience yet."
"I wouldn't say that you have no experience yet Midoriya. Remember that slime villain?" Matvey brought up.
"Oh, that's right. You were the one who ran up to it to try and save your classmate," Jurota recalled, remembering the event from the news nearly a year ago.
"Yeah… but fighting that slime monster's not exactly the first time experience I want to look back on."
The three students were now in the hallway where their classes were with Midoriya' class coming up first.
"Psh, I don't remember anything about my first time with a villain, but hey, every great hero has to start somewhere, right?" Matvey coaxed.
"… Yeah I guess. See you later Matvey,"
"See you then."
With that Midoriya went into his classroom and Matvey and Jurota entered theirs.
…
8:25- Start of Homeroom
The bell had rung and all the students were on time and in their seats as Aizawa was prepared to start the school day off.
"Morning, I hope you all had a productive break from classes because we'll be getting right back to it," Aizawa informed.
The class still had their minds on what happened at USJ and it would be a tough challenge to ask a bunch of mainly 15 year old's to just move on from a terrifying event such as that, but that's just the responsibility of a hero.
"But before that, I think we need to address the obvious," Aizawa said in a serious tone, "What took place a few days… it shouldn't have happened. I'm sure you all received letters mailed from the school addressing and apologizing for the incident."
The students all recounted the letters that they each received during the break.
"Though we are training you to be heroes, putting you all in a dangerous situation like that is unbecoming of a school like this and for that I myself would like to apologize as well."
The class was taken back by what their teacher had said to them. They knew that underneath his apathetic exterior that he actually cared for them, but it was perhaps the first time he outwardly showed it.
"In what I'm sure is your first time in dealing with actual villains, you all did good," Aizawa praised, "Moving on, we now go from your first trial in dealing with villains, to another trial. A trial that will map out your careers as heroes."
The class had an anxious aura as their teacher had a grave tone in his voice. Given what the class has been through some were fretful, some were itching but all of them were on the edge of their seat waiting for the homeroom teacher to announce what was next.
"Your next trial… is the U.A. Sports Festival."
AN: And there goes Chapter 19. The USJ arc is officially wrapped up and we're moving on to the Sports Festival.
I really appreciate those that have followed along with the story and I hope you all enjoyed this chapter.
I wanted to focus this chapter on developing more of the characters and delving more into Matvey's quirk.
Also, for fun, I based Inasa's siblings quirks on the band "Earth, Wind & Fire", for those that are interested.
Thank you for reading, be sure to leave a review/comment as it would be greatly appreciated.
Til next time!
