Jaune was walking up the stairs to Ozpin's office as he had a few questions. He had been thinking about talking to him about the floor system he had created.
He got to the door and took in a breath before knocking on the door. "Yes? Come in!" An older voice called as Jaune walked in.
"Hello, Headmaster," Jaune said, respectfully. Ozpin nodded to him as he sipped his coffee. "Yes ?" He asked as Jaune was taken aback slightly before composing himself. Of course the headmaster knew his name.
"I came to talk to you about the floor system you created." He said, getting to the point.
"What about it?" Ozpin asked as Jaune sighed. "I think your idea was genius headmaster!" He cried as Ozpin looked up at him. "Oh? You do?" He asked as Jaune nodded. "Yeah! The idea to make it so low ranks don't have to be tortured by high ranks is amazing!" He said and Ozpin looked at him. "What makes you so sure I did that to help low ranks? Rather than letting the trash interact with the better high-tiers?" Ozpin asked.
Jaune was taken aback for a second but stood tall. "Because there would be no reason. Even if they are trash… then there would be no reason to make a school like this! Giving the High and Elites their own space will just make them have no one easy to bully!" Jaune argued and Ozpin smiled. "That is very observant of you Mr. Arc. Most students would have not seen through that." He congratulated and Jaune released a breath.
"Thank you headmaster coming from you, that's an honor," Jaune said and Ozpin stood up. "So Mr. Arc… given that you've gone from powerless to Mid-Tier King. How do you feel about the Hierarchy?" Ozpin asked and Jaune looked down.
"I think… it can't be destroyed," Jaune said and Ozpin frowned. "But I do believe that it can be changed!" Jaune said and Ozpin was shocked.
"How do you believe that?" Ozpin asked. "Every time we've had a King or Queen they've always been someone with little care for lower ranks. But if I can show them that they don't need to fight and that it can be better to be safe around each other then it might change minds!" Jaune said.
"That's pretty naive thinking Mr. Arc. What is your plan for that?" Ozpin asked and Jaune faltered. What was his plan? Convince a bunch of people with their heads screwed on wrong that fighting wasn't the way?
Jaune sighed. "I don't have one sir." He said as Ozpin sat back down. "I do not believe your way of thinking is bad Mr. Arc, but remember… a goal without a plan is just a dream," Ozpin said as Jaune nodded and left.
Jaune was walking down the street with Ruby sipping their smoothies as they were heading back to school. "We need a new hangout spot," Jaune said and Ruby looked up at him. "Why?" She asked. "Don't you get tired of heading to the same place? I hear a new sandwich spot opened up down the street." Jaune said. "I could never cheat on Dave's! Plus these smoothies are good and we don't have to pay for shit." Ruby said.
Jaune rolled his eyes. "Oh yes, cheating on the cooperation!" Jaune said as Ruby stuck her tongue out at him. "I do kind of agree though. Plus I do feel hungry… let's head there now!" Ruby said as Jaune turned towards her. "We're already halfway to the bullheads!" He cried before being dragged off by Ruby.
They walked into the sandwich restaurant and it was PACKED. "Man, we got at a bad time," Ruby said as Jaune shook his head. "Wouldn't say that. Look there's no line. Everyone here got their food." Jaune said.
"Your perceptiveness never ceases to amaze me," Ruby commented and Jaune shrugged. "Just lucky." He said with a smile.
They walked up to the line where a green-haired girl was on her phone. "And I was like, "You didn't!" I can't believe she stole her man!" She spoke as Jaune and Ruby stared at her deadpan.
She noticed them and blushed before fumbling her phone. "S-sorry!'" She cried before giving an apology to the person she was on the phone with and hanging up.
"What kind of sandwich would you like?" She asked as Jaune shook his head. "I want an Atlus special with everything on it but hold the onions and add more dragon peppers please," Jaune said, giving the girl time to write down the order. She looked up, giving Jaune the cue to speak. "I'd also like it on toasted bread with provolone cheese," Jaune said and she finished the order. "Any oil?" She asked and Jaune shook his head. "Nah."
She then turned to Ruby. "How about you?" She asked as Ruby looked at the menu. "Uhh, I well…" Ruby trailed off. "Would you like a suggestion?" The girl asked and Ruby shrugged. "Sure."
"Put out your hand." The girl said and Ruby did it and the girl held Ruby's hand before her eyes glowed. "You want a Downtown style sandwich on regular white bread and cheddar cheese with oil." She said, "Uhh ok…" Ruby said before the girl wrote down the order and ran off.
"That was an interesting ability," Jaune said as Ruby nodded. "An ability to sense what sandwich someone wants?" Ruby said. "Probably not that specific… likely is an ability that can sense desires and she chose the sandwich you wanted," Jaune said.
"Again with that ability knowledge!" Ruby cried as she playfully punched Jaune. He laughed as they waited for their sandwiches.
Ruby and Jaune left the restaurant, sandwiches in hand as they munched away. "Atlus special is so clear of any other sandwich!" Jaune cried before taking another bite. "I'm surprised they managed to get exactly what I wanted… I never even knew about this sandwich but I've never enjoyed anything more." Ruby said.
"Well, it was through an ability so it can't be that strange," Jaune said. "So how's the High-Tiers?" Jaune asked and Ruby looked up at him. "Eh, kinda boring. Same classes as before. Strange too. If you're gonna have the same classes then what's the point in making different floors?" Ruby said.
"Well Ruby, the floor system was an answer to the problems in the hierarchy," Jaune said as Ruby looked at him incredulously. "What's the point? Doesn't fix any issues. Just get rid of it at that point." Ruby said.
"Actually I don't think the floor system was a bad idea. I don't think the hierarchy can be destroyed either…" Jaune spoke and Ruby stopped.
Jaune took another bite out of his sandwich as he gazed at her. He wanted to see Ruby's reaction. "What do you mean can't be destroyed?" Ruby asked.
"I mean the hierarchy is built into this world. To remove it would require power you and I don't have." Jaune said as Ruby looked down.
"So if we can change the way people think in the hierarchy and make the violence go down then that would be as much of a win right?" Jaune asked as Ruby shook her head. "Won't work. You can try to change the hierarchy… but it won't work." Ruby said.
"But why?" Jaune asked. "Because people don't change! They only hate who tells them they should!" Ruby shouted. Jaune backed up before looking at Ruby. "But didn't you change?!" He asked.
Ruby's eyes shot open. "If you can change then so can everyone else right?" Jaune asked and Ruby shook her head again. "I made that choice… and it took suspension for it to happen!" Ruby said, revealing information about Ruby he didn't know. "Just… don't expect people to change," Ruby said as she walked past. "It'll only make them hate you…" Ruby said as she kept walking.
Jaune watched her fleeing form before looking down at the ground. He then shook his head. No, he'd find a way to make the school a safer place!
Jaune was at his desk and was playing games on his computer. "If I double out here then I can get a free knock on someone. No one on this team likes to get their item taken. Hopefully, I get what Pex is holding." Jaune rambled to himself. He ended up losing and slammed his hand onto the desk. "Dammit! Fuck Triple Axel!" He cried before he thought back to the conversation with Ruby.
"Just… don't expect people to change."
"It'll only make them hate you…"
"Before you do anything just be careful. Ruby is a psychotic tyrant and will destroy that school if you let her."
"Sounds like Ruby truly was a problem at her old school… maybe I can find something," Jaune said before he opened up a new tab and searched up Signal Academy.
Most of it ended up just being glorifying the school but one article published under an anonymous writer detailed the "Fall Of Signal's Hierarchy"
Jaune clicked it and opened up the article. It detailed EVERYTHING about Signal's fall. Jaune read through it as he got all the information.
"Wow…" Jaune said as he looked at his screen. Ruby had ruined Signal's hierarchy by forcing a place where fights broke out due to overconfident low-tiers and pissed off higher tiers. There was no order and senseless violence broke out everywhere. It was the exact opposite of what Ruby wanted.
He thought about what Coco said to Ruby. "Violence causes more violence huh?" he said aloud. "Guess that means that Ruby's solution caused people to become even more violent. Defending low-tiers is one thing but fighting wasn't the way to do it." He thought.
"What can I do that will make peace with everyone…" Jaune thought as he leaned back in his chair before he fell.
"Shit!" He cried as he hit the ground. He looked up and rubbed his head before it came to him. "I've got an idea!" He cried.
Ryan was walking with Dylan and Railand. "So what does Arc want anyway?" Railand asked. He came up with a great idea last night. He wanted me and you guys over to talk about it." Ryan said.
Ryan knocked on the door and Jaune opened it instantly. "Dude… were you standing in front of the door or something?" Ryan asked as Jaune walked back towards the door and the low-tier pieces entered.
"Alright, guys. I have a brand new idea!" Jaune cried. "We know. What is it?" Dylan asked.
Jaune then stood up. "You know how there's so much fighting going on? And how violence dictate everything?" Jaune asked and the trio nodded. "Well if we can convince everyone to stop fighting then there'd be peace," Jaune said.
"..."
"..."
"... that… is the stupidest idea I've heard in a long time…" Dylan said.
"Huh?!" Jaune cried as he fell back. "How are you planning to convince people to have peace together instead of fighting?" Railand asked and Jaune stood up with a smirk. "I plan… to throw a college party!" Jaune cried.
The trio looked at him with whited-out eyes. "How is a party gonna solve anything?" Ryan asked. "Glad you asked. This party will have one simple rule… no abilities allowed!" Jaune said and this time the trio gasped.
"Genius right? The idea is that anyone who's tired of the fighting outside will want to join a party where there is no fighting. Therefore making it a safe space for everyone!" Jaune cried.
"It could work… but how will we find out who wants to be there?" Dylan asked. "Well I have fliers but even that isn't guaranteed. So I made these!" Jaune said before he pulled out papers.
It was a sheet of paper that was separated into columns with a large "SAFE HOUSE PARTY SIGNING" at the top.
"Oh, I get it. You want to put these with the fliers?" Ryan said. "Yeah, I also want to pass them out as well. Get the word out that we're throwing this party." Jaune replied.
"Sounds like a plan!" Railand said as he stood up. "Now let's get this party started!" Jaune said.
The low-tier trio and Jaune passed the fliers out to near the entire Low-Tier and Mid-Tier. And put fliers up all around the floor.
In the end… out of 300 students. Over 230 had signed for the party to be held. After a talk with Ozpin… it was ready.
Jaune walked into the gym and saw what happened. The room was filled with students who were all partying, talking, and most importantly… not fighting. Jaune smiled before he walked up the bleachers.
"Hello everyone!" He cried as the music turned off and everyone turned to him. "I only want a few seconds of your time! I'm glad this party could be a success. Remember the only real rules are no abilities are allowed. Everyone is permitted to feel safe here. With that… let's party!" Jaune shouted as many cheered and the music began again.
The party went on for a few more minutes before trouble reared its ugly head. The door was kicked open as Cardin and his goons walked in. "What's up bitches!" He cried.
"Oh shit, it's Cardin!" Someone cried. "You think he's gonna beat us up?!" Another said. "No way Jaune is here!" one more voice called.
Jaune walked down and stood in front of Cardin. "You were one of the ones who didn't sign the petition to have a safe party… What brings you here Cardin?" Jaune asked. "Why isn't he kicking him out?" A few people were talking amongst themselves about Cardin.
The older boy smirked. "I don't give a damn about some party for worthless little shits to hide in!" Cardin said and Jaune crossed his arms. "Then why are you here?" Jaune asked. No way Cardin was looking for a second loss.
"To shut it down. By beating you down in front of all these weaklings then everything will go back to normal!" Cardin said as his eyes glowed.
Jaune sighed. "Back to normal huh? A place full of violence is normal?" Jaune asked aloud and Cardin looked at him with confusion. "Cardin. When I beat you people hated you so much they cheered. Is that your normal?" Jaune asked and Cardin glared.
"They only hate me cuz they ain't me!" Cardin roared. "Then why did people agree to this party created by me? Since I'm stronger than you?" Jaune asked and Cardin gripped him by his blue hoodie.
"You son of a bitch! You hell do you think you are?!" Cardin shouted. Jaune simply looked at him. His eyes didn't even glow.
"Why the fuck aren't you powering up?!" Cardin cried. "Because this is an ability-free zone. A place where rank doesn't matter and everyone can be safe and happy!" Jaune said. "What kind of bullshit is that?! I can beat your ass down right now!" Cardin screamed. "I made a promise to Ozpin for this party. An Arc never goes back on their word." Jaune said as Cardin's eyes widened and he let Jaune go.
"No way… no way in hell the headmaster let you have this! He created this system for those like me! So we could have power! Not for weaklings!" Cardin shouted. "Cardin… aren't you just a weakling compared to someone like Ruby?!" Jaune asked and Cardin grit his teeth.
"You fucker!" Cardin roared before rushing forward. But right before he would pummel Jaune he stopped.
Jaune's eyes still hadn't glowed. He wasn't going to fight. Cardin grit his teeth. This wasn't fair! Why the fuck wasn't he fighting back?!
Cardin lowered his fist and turned and started walking away and his posse followed him as everyone stared at his retreating form with wide eyes.
"Cardin… backed off?" A girl asked and soon everyone erupted in cheers. The party was back on as everyone seemed more excited than before.
Ryan walked up to him and slapped his back. "Man Jaune! That was the coolest thing you've done so far!" He said as Jaune rubbed the back of his neck. "It Wasn't that cool." He said before looking over the party.
The rest of the night went smoothly until someone spiked the punch and they had to deal with a drunk Dylan telling them about the time he ate chocolate out of a girl's ass only to find it wasn't chocolate.
The party was successful and Jaune cleaned up with the Low-Tier pieces. Overall after a successful night… Jaune took his ass to sleep.
The party's success didn't just extend to the party itself. As Jaune walked through the halls he noticed the fighting levels had gone down by quite a bit. Students that might have not even known each other's names were interacting happily and even some more intimate relationships had been formed. The entire floor was almost entirely more peaceful.
Jaune smiled to himself as he walked. "Maybe this place truly can change." he thought and kept walking.
Jaune and Ruby exited Dave's Great Drinks with sandwiches and smoothies in hand. "They aren't even hangout spots anymore! Didn't know Dave's didn't allow people to have food from other places and stay in their shop." Jaune said. "Yeah, they're a lot more anal than I thought…" Ruby spoke.
"Anal?!" Jaune asked and Ruby nodded. "Yeah, like they have a stick up their ass." She said as Jaune stifled laughter.
"Must not laugh at childish jokes!" Jaune said as Ruby rolled her eyes. "I'm a comedic genius!" Ruby said with her eyes closed.
"Yeah yeah!" Jaune said before he remembered his safe party. "Hey, Ruby! We've been having some new parties!" Jaune said as Ruby turned to him. "Yeah?" Ruby asked.
"I wanted to know if you wanted to come," Jaune said and Ruby took another bite out of her sandwich. "Not really a party person. Plus can I even be allowed at a party in a lower rank?" Ruby asked.
"Doesn't matter. It's a safe party. Rank doesn't mean anything and no abilities are allowed." Jaune confirmed and Ruby looked up.
"Oh shit, it's Ruby!"
"We just wanted to be safe!"
"Not everything is about you!"
"Leave you psycho!"
"We don't want you here."
"Where was this when I was being beaten?!"
"We disbanded ok?! We aren't your enemies! We never were!"
"Uhh, Ruby?" Jaune asked and Ruby snapped back. "Uhh oh no. not a party person. I'd rather play video games alone haha…" Ruby said.
"Same here. But if I want to change things then I gotta be that change. The Low and Mid-Tiers have been a lot calmer with far less fighting." Jaune said as Ruby looked at him with surprise. "Really?" She said, not believing what she just heard.
"Yep! You should come check it out." Jaune offered and Ruby shrugged. "Sure." She said,
Jaune and Ruby walked through the bottom floor and sure enough, they saw barely any fighting. For a while. They eventually heard screaming and followed it. "So much for peace huh?' Ruby said.
Jaune walked up to the altercation and saw a girl with yellow pigtails pressing a boy with blue hair against a wall. "Dumbass! What the hell were you looking at?!" She demanded as the boy struggled. "Julieana I wasn't staring I swear!" He cried.
"Oh yeah, I'm just supposed to believe you weren't giving me a glare?!" She cried as her glowing pink eyes glared hard.
"You walked in front of me while I was walking! I just looked up!" He cried.
"You little shit!" She cried and Jaune walked up. "Hey what's going on?" Jaune asked, despite hearing the conversation.
"The Mid-Tier King?" The girl asked as the boy looked at him. "I looked at her and she misconstrued the situation!" He said and the girl turned to him. "Don't lie fuckhead! I know what I saw!" She cried.
She then raised her arm and three long energy blades jutted out from it.
"Holy shit! That might do damage!" Jaune thought. "Hey wait a sec. No need to tear the poor kid apart!" Jaune said as the girl stopped.
"What's your level?" Jaune asked and the girl turned towards him. "2.8… why?" She asked. "So you've been tormented by other Mid-Tiers right?" Jaune asked and the girl let up her grip. "S-so what?" She asked.
"Then don't you know how it feels to be tormented?" Jaune asked and the girl dropped the boy. "B-but he he…" The girl stammered. "Hey, have you been to the Safe Party?" Jaune asked. The girl shook her head.
"I heard about that!" The boy cried. "I signed the sheet but couldn't come since I was doing extra work." He said.
"Well, you guys should come! It's the safest place in the school and we're planning on having another this week on Saturday!" Jaune said and the two looked at him. "I'll think about it." The girl said before turning away and walking. "I'll be there!" The boy said.
Jaune turned to Ruby. "See?" He asked smugly. "How…?" Ruby asked. "Well by showing her that she was putting someone else in the same situation she had been in, she realized that she had done something fucked up," Jaune said as he walked away. "Also might be my natural charisma!" Jaune said and Ruby rolled her eyes.
It had been a month since the first Safe Party had been thrown and after the success of the first, Ozpin made it his mission to make sure the other parties also found success. Even the girl with the pigtails had started showing up. Looked like her and that boy made up as well.
Jaune's ability had climbed to 4.4 last time he checked and he was pretty amped about when it would hit 5.0 and he'd get a passive. Man he hoped it was cool!
But meanwhile… something else was happening in the High-Tiers.
Ruby walked through the hallways. It was pretty strange. Her ability hadn't grown at all in the last 2 months. Compared to her high-school growth it was abnormal. She wasn't sure why she was stuck around 5.1. Coco and the others were gaining on her and she hadn't made a lick of improvement. Even Jaune was nearing her.
"Man, I gotta get stronger somehow." Ruby thought. But soon she felt something, specifically… anger.
Ruby's passive of her Silver Eyes was to sense emotions. She spoke about it due to it being an invasion of personal space but this was far stronger than normal anger.
Ruby ran to the location and saw a girl being abused by an older boy. "Did my cousin mean nothing to you? You bitch!" He cried as he slammed his knee into the girl's stomach and sent her sprawling.
"No! That's not it! Your cousin is a real nice g-argh!" She couldn't finish her sentence as he kicked her again.
"Shut up!" He said as his green glowing eyes glared. His leg had a large cylinder around it and seemed to be hurting the girl over time.
"Hey!" Ruby cried as the duo turned to her. "Who the fuck are you?" The boy demanded. "The High-Tier Queen," Ruby said, believing that would make him back off.
"Yeah right! Some weak kid like you?!" He asked. "Is this guy new or something?" Ruby thought. But the boy gave her no chance to think. He rushed at Ruby and tried to kick her as Ruby jumped back.
"Wait! I don't want to fight you! I just want you to stop!" Ruby said and the boy laughed. "Some "Queen" you are! Name's Draydo. Remember it as the person who kicked your ass!" He cried before rushing her again.
This time he nailed Ruby head-on. "How do you like that bitch?!" He asked and Ruby glared. He came at her again and Ruby grit her teeth and her eyes glowed.
She dodged his kick before slamming her fist into his chest, sending him into a wall. She then ran and slammed her knee into his face.
He fell back as Ruby gripped his collar and lifted him up. "Why the hell didn't you listen?!" Ruby cried before she stopped herself.
She dropped the boy and looked up to see the girl was long gone. She looked at his unconscious form and shook her head.
"What do you see in this hierarchy, Jaune? Because all I see… is something not worth salvaging…" Ruby said before walking off.
YOOOOOOOOOOO it's ya boi Crash and I am back with another chapter of the hierarchy. I hope you enjoyed that as I tried to separate Jaune and Ruby by the way they view the hierarchy. I've also introduced passives. Which is something in UnORDINARY that I have not used until now. Ruby's was hella difficult since I had to make something she couldn't use in a fight over the whole why didn't Ruby use this earlier lol. I've already retconned so much. anyway R/R and have a good one GOOOODBYEEEEE
Review 1:
Paradoxreader: Technically i think jaune should be infinite too if u think it propelry and hisbpotential always been high in cannon verse n strategy so be sad if limited especially since matter creation n armoury characteristic manupulation... He can creat anti matter bomb... Or a sword that cuts atom... Yea... Hisbdad can make normal bullet penetrate titanium. N mum can make anythimg so... Not impossible... See shirou from fate stay nite soup up for him haha
Crash: Highkey I started to hate the whole "Infinite ceiling" Thing because realistically. anyone with drive can evolve their ability. I guess infinite simply means how far that ability can go. currently Jaune's ability is pretty basic but I'm planning on taking it to the next level later in the story. won't say much for now
Review 2
Paradoxreader: I do hope jaune has infinite ceiling potential then he will be truly rubydual as he and ruby both will have different style... Internal n external... And jaune slowly maybe for hisbinternal have exo skeleton n nano bots haha
Crash: I don't know if I'll have Jaune's powers truly be external for now. I do plan on evolving Jaune's fighting style since this chapter was more about evolving his ideals and resolve.
