We back again huh? It's been a while since the last bonus chapter hasn't it haha.
The reason I'm making this is because I've retconned a lot since the story began. I truly have no direction. I'm sorry for how I wrote this and thank you for putting up with me. I hope to clear things up that I won't retcon but no promises. Here's what I hope to talk about and correct.
The school itself(Uniforms, rules, money, private or public ect)
Hierarchy rules
Abilities and the change from the name Semblances
Levels
Let's begin.
With the school the one thing I haven't been clear about is the uniforms. I've said a few things. But I've never been too clear. So let's get that over with. The beginning uniform of Ruby has been retconned and this new uniform will be the one I primarily use.
A blue open-face jacket. Long sleeve with a regular collar and white cuffs. Alternate: Blue sweater, Blue Blazer, Blue vest, Blue cardigan
A white long-sleeve undershirt. Collar must be proper and can't be popped up.
Black necktie(Male) Black Ribbon tie(Female)
Black slacks(Male) Black miniskirt(Female)
Thigh-high socks
Footwear is what ever
This will be the uniform going forward in the story and I will not change it. There are some exceptions to this though. Ruby forgoes her tie and undershirt and wears whatever. Cardin doesn't wear his tie. Ryan doesn't wear his tie and neither does Railand. Dylan wears a blazer. Pyrrha wears a vest instead of a jacket, Yang wears a cardigan. Jaune doesn't wear his uniform.
The school is also a college rather than a high-school. I don't describe the classes very well but it is a lecture hall. I think I used desks like an idiot at some point though. But what's more retcons? Let's pretend desks are just assigned seats?
The school has no real rules on violence due to the school being rich asl. So it has no reason to give a shit about the violence going on. It is very prestigious and has released many great Elite and High-Tiers since its creation. Many have spent good money into going to this school so it makes sense. The arenas are specific places in the school where Pieces and those who wish to challenge them can fight. They aren't available to the general public and only fights with Pieces in them can be fought.
I used a record for Ruby vs Cardin but I'm not fully retconning that. I will say though that any fight outside of the school that does not involve pieces or an official match are not counted. Cardin challenged people to have his record. Ruby only had 2-0 because she beat two Pieces. Normally fights in the hall don't affect the record. For example, Jaune has had quite a few fights since he gained his ability but he is currently 8-12 because he's been beaten by Ryan, Railand, and Dylan numerous times prior to the story. His fight with Ruby ended with no result so that didn't affect him. His other wins against non pieces opponents don't change his record either since he didn't challenge them.
On the other hand. Losing and winning against pieces affects your own score. Putting more of that unfair factor against weaker students. I also made it so you can only take the King spot if you are stronger than the second strongest female student. That was retconned recently. The strongest male is King regardless. So that changes the King spots.
Low-Tier King: Ryan(2.5(he leveled up at some point off screen))(Strongest Male in the Low-Tier)
Mid-Tier King: Jaune(4.4)(Strongest Male in the Mid-Tier)
High-Tier King: Yatsuhashi(4.2)(Beat Fox in a fight)
Elite-Tier King: Ren(?)(Strongest Male in the Elite-Tier)
The pieces are also strange. So I'll explain those. Currently. Despite their losses Dylan and Railand still hold their rank due to Ryan picking them when he got his rank back. As long as Jaune was King there were no pieces outside of the Queen.
The Queen of the Low-Tier does exist btw. She is the 2nd rank student in the low tier and is 2.2. Her name is Kanin and her ability is to create mirror images of herself that can attack others but she also takes the damage. She was 1.4 prior to Jaune's kingship and rose in power recently. She does know Ryan but she isn't his friend and only spoke to him once about how he can choose anyone for the pieces. I only say this because I have no current plans to introduce her into the story.
The Mid-Tier is in an interesting state. I'm planning on having the new Pieces shown soon. Only hint. Jaune won't be the only one to decide the new ones.
Of course if that wasn't hinted enough when a new King or Queen rises to power all pieces lose their status and new ones must be picked. The Low-Tier stayed because Ruby chose them by accident during the fight with Cardin.
So Now let's talk about the hierarchy. As you know it is a system to make sure the top stays at the top and the bottom suffers. This is of course caused by human egos overpowering empathy and abilities breeding violence. Not much to say that I haven't already but I do want to say that the tiering placement in normal schools is based on the normal system rather than the beacon system. I started with this in Signal but nah Beacon is special. No other school uses the floor system.
Abilities are pretty interesting huh? Special powers given to someone in order to beat the shit out of others… sad world they live in. I did show in the last chapter that there are some without violent based abilities but that isn't always the case. I'll talk more about that in levels. But each ability is different and while they may do the same thing on paper each ability can do something different. With super speed someone might run fast while another may have insane reaction time.
When it comes to levels there are levels to levels I want to speak about. Levels are not only power ups but markers for abilities. One thing I fucked up on was using other numbers than .5 or .0 for the substats like Power and Speed. I'm gonna fix that at some point but not today since I'm a lazy bum LMAO.
Each time someone's ability hits a .5 threshold they get a new mini powerup. When they hit a .0 threshold their ability evolves in some way.
Example:
Ruby at 1.0 = Creature/Cripple
Ruby at 1.5 = Her gaining reinforcement
Ruby at 2.0 = Her gaining healing
Ruby at 2.5 = Her gaining the ability to use both arms
Ruby at 3.0 = Her gaining the ability to use energy blasts
Ruby at 3.5 = Her gaining the ability to make shields
Ruby at 4.0 = Her gaining the ability to use her entire body
Ruby at 4.5 = Her gaining the ability to create body armor
Ruby at 5.0 = Her gaining her passive: Emotion Reading
A few abilities that are gained depending on level are a strength increase on all augmentation abilities like Silver eyes, and at 5.0 all abilities gain a passive. At 7.0 all abilities give enhanced pain tolerance, and finally at 9.0 all abilities lose any drawback. Ruby wouldn't have any recoil so she wouldn't even need reinforcement.
10 is perfect and just like Uru-Chan I don't plan on showing any 10s. I think 7.5 is the highest I'm planning to use this season.
Everyone can gain a passive and here are the passives of all of the 5.0+ students.
Ruby: Emotion Sense. Ruby can sense emotions of those around her in a 15 meter radius and how strong they are.
Glynda: Mind Control. Contrary to the name it is to control others mind but her own. She can fully control her own emotions and stay fully focused.
Weiss: Temperature Immunity: Weiss regulates her body temperature so she is unaffected by other temperatures
Pyrrha: Armor: Just like Arlo, Pyrrha takes less damage from attacks and also has higher pain tolerance.
Tonikawa: Grounded: Tonikawa is heavier than the regular person despite being physically fit.
I just told these passives primarily because I know that I would forget them and make up something new.
I hope you all enjoy my stories since I'm not that good of a writer. Thank you for reading!
