MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE

[a/n0]2021 coming to a close. I pulled my author stats into Excel just for the hekuvit. And sometime in November my collection scored its ten millionth hit.

[a/n]Apr2020pm from timbarney110 offered a boatload of ideas. -Luna introduces herself when she is looking for her stuff/putting up posters for the return of her stuff. Harry summons Dobby asking him to help Luna find her stuff.

He wasn't, for a change, terribly angry despite his difficult detentions with the witch running his favorite course. He was just terribly ….bored…. So one night, rather near to curfew, he ditched his friends …equipped himself in his Invisibility Cloak… and set about wandering the castle. No where in particular. Hours later and scant minutes before lights out, he'd found his way to the courtyard outside Ravenclaw Tower. He grinned at the sight of his fairly recent friend.

"Lalalalalala" the blonde Ravenclaw was alternately skipping and posting paper to the walls. She stopped, leaned forward curiously then smiled "Good evening Harry Potter."

He snapped at her "Luna! You can see me?" as he shrugged off his cloak.

"OH! I beg your pardon, Harry." She removed her rose-colored glasses and peered owlishly "Was I not supposed to?"

He wasn't angry "Well that's how invisibility cloaks work. Usually anyway."

"Should I pretend you're not here?" asked Luna, voice with a spacey quality.

He shook his head "No. It doesn't matter." Then asked curiously "What're you doing?"

"Oh the nargles absconded with some of my belongings." She answered as if that explained everything "I wouldn't wish to go home for the Yule holidays without."

Harry took a sheet of paper from her and read MISSING: 1 earring (with beetle wings)

A pair of stripey socks

School cloak - black

A purple quill (woodpecker, with special markings)

A pair of school shoes

A 'Bubble Bow Booster' kit (still in wrapper)

"That's horrible!" exclaimed Harry "But I know what to do about this. Dobby!"

There was a pop and a puff of smoke. After a high-pitched squeal, a decently dressed but still scrawny bug-eyed floppy-eared creature danced around "Dobby is Dobby! Harry Potter called for Dobby! What can Dobby be doing for Harry Potter sir?"

"This is my friend Luna." He pointed at the blonde girl "And she has a little problem. Can you help?"

She curtseyed "Pleasure to meet you sir."

"Moon-mistress called Dobby sir?" the elf sighed in wonder "What can Dobby do for Moony-girl?"

Harry found that immensely amusing. Through a spasm of laughter he handed over a copy of parchment "This paper has a list of all of Luna's things that she can't find. Can you help?"

"Dobby be glad to." The elf was gone before the humans heard all the words.

They both waved their hands through smoke, Harry looked at her with regret "I think I owe you an apology, Luna."

"Accepted." She answered airily "But whatever for?"

He pointed up at the archway, which had copies of Professor Umbridge's commands and read "Educational Decree #27 Any student found in possession of the magazine The Quibbler will be expelled."

"Oh think nothing of it Harry Potter." The blonde Ravenclaw replied "Daddy tells me circulation has risen by 31.48 percent month over month and 26.99 percent over this time last year."

He stared at her for three full seconds then "Well…in that case…I'm not sorry."

"Dobby finds. Dobby finds! All miss Moony's goodies!" the elf appeared with a stack her belongings. Which the girl immediately fell upon in delighted joy.

Harry was really only curious "Where did they turn up?"

"Soxes in chiny girl trunk." Dobby began to list "Bubby thingy under quirky-girl bed- - -"

Luna squealed "Oh thank you Mr. Dobby! I didn't even know Mummy's North Star necklace was missing!"

"That looks real valuable." Harry commented "You really should keep that safe." Then he immediately put the clues together, he saw red "Your Housemates were stealing your stuff, Luna. Dobby, after getting her back to her dorm, meet me in Professor Flitwick's office."
