Colette Diggory POV:
I'm packing my last few clothes into my large, brown nomaj (muggles) suitcase when my door flew wide open and a brown figure dash into my room and jump right on my bed.
"When will you ever learn to knock on the door, Rolf?"
"Maybe…never?!", Rolf said and I chuckled. When we first met each other at Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as they are both first years. Even though people in America are more open to my condition, people around the school still gossip and not many people want to be friends with me, actually none at all. Then, one day Rolf just place himself next to me during breakfast in the Great Hall. At first, I was telling him that he may not want to sit with me regarding my "conditions", but he just ask:
"So, it's true? Really? Can you tell me everything? Like literally anything related to that? Please? You are so, so cool!".
I guess it's because we're both weird and get sorted in the same house that we became friends. We eventually just hung out every day. We even discover that our interests are nearly identical. Some may speculate that we are dating as we get older, but they will never know because we both consider each other to be sisters and brothers. Also, even though he is now older than me, I am the older sister and he is the younger brother.
"You're all packed, Rolf?", I asked as I closed my suitcase, and he keep playing with Laurie and Andy, my two favorite Dittany plants. They are both powerful healing herbs and restorative that you can eat raw to cure shallow wounds. Rolf also love them both so much, especially since they both once saved his life as I used them to cure one of the deep cut that he got from one of the cheetahs he play with.
"Since yesterday, not everyone is lazy like you are Letty.", he said while making a face that makes me want to punch him hard. Oh, and yes. We both learned martial arts, both magical ones and normaj ones.
"Oh you little brat!", I said while taking my pillow and smacking hard on his face. "We're not going until tomorrow, so why the hurry?".
"Oh, I don't know, maybe because sometimes life will bring you a surprise that won't give you time to do normal things? For example, my parents are both taking us to my grandparents' house today because it seems that my grandfather has found a new creature in the woods. With that, my mouth's corner begins to spread and my grin starts to spread larger.
"OH MY GOD! I can't believe you didn't tell me this yesterday, Rolf Scamander."
"Well, sometimes we need to bring surprises to life, don't we?" he said, and I couldn't be mad at him because I know he's giving me surprises to keep me from being sad and thinking about my brother, Cedric Diggory. But that doesn't mean I won't do anything to him, does it? I jump back on the bed, and we have a pillow fight that lasts for what seems like an eternity until we both hear tapping sounds coming from my bedroom's windows. What could that strange sound be?
We both turn to see the sigh of an owl delivering a letter to me, it seems. Rolf helped me quickly open the window and the owl flew inside and drop the letter down on my bed.
"Can you?", I asked.
Without longer questions or an explanation, Rolf understand exactly what I meant and take from inside of his coat owl treats. I was asking him to give the owl treats since I don't have an owl pet as he did. Rolf has a male Northern Saw-whet Owl that looks cute and always flies around until midnight. While Rolf busying himself with feeding the owls food, I surveyed the letter that was delivering for me. There was a bright red stamp in the middle of the envelope, and under the stamp said 'if you are Colette Diggory, please place your thumb on the stamp to open the envelope and receive the letter'. I place my thumb on the stamp, and it began to tear apart itself, revealing the letter inside. The letter was a parchment written in black ink but was all underlined by yellow ink.
Lady Colette Diggory,
I know you must have been surprised and perplexed when you received this letter, but please bear with me as I explain who I am and why I'm writing to you. First and foremost, allow me to introduce myself: my name is Hogwarts. Oh, I know it's probably very confusing right now, but please wait in there.
Before you start doubting this letter, keep in mind that there is a Hogwarts stamp at the end of it. Also, just so you know, I can be referred to as he. This may come as a surprise, but Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is more than just a school or a castle; I'm a soul created by the magic of the four Hogwarts Founders.
I'm sending you this letter to inform you of your ladyship's arrival at Hogwarts. You are the sole owner of Hogwarts throughout your entire life, not your predecessor's, and that is me. Before you start wondering why, you were chosen because you were born as the heir of one of Hogwarts' founders, and you are the magical heir of Hufflepuff.
Let me answer your questions right now; I'm sorry that your house will not come as a surprise to you because you are the Hufflepuff's heir. As a Hufflepuff heir, you not only own Hogwarts, but you also have the authority to admit or expel anyone. Yes, it sounds cringeworthy and strange, but it isn't, Lady.
You also inherited the Hufflepuff vault, and you don't need to know the vault number because each Hogwarts founder has their vault, and if you approach any goblin in Gringotts, they will immediately recognize you and lead you to your vault. The vault's number is unavailable because it is not necessary to know. After all, Helga Hufflepuff has instructed the goblins not to number it. You may take anything and as much as you want, and don't think it's not yours or that you won't take it because Helga would be very sad and upset if her heir didn't use her golds. Consider it to be your vault.
I'm sending you this letter right now because I was informed that you would be returning to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry this year, and I'd like to greet you properly without you being surprised by my treatment of you.
Furthermore, you are the only person alive right now who is aware that I am a living soul (not even the headmaster). You have the option of telling anyone about your ladyship and heritage or keeping it a secret. Remember, only the people you allow to know will be able to read this letter.
There's no need to reply to this email of mine, and I'm so eager right now to meet you on September 1st.
See you again, My Lady.
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
"OH MY GOD!" I can't help but scream because anyone in my situation would do the same. Do you know what I mean? Knowing something this significant on a seemingly ordinary day would cause your mind to spin like a fucking tornado. When I turn around, Rolf is staring at me, and the owl appears to have completed its mission and has flown away.
"What transpired?" "Who is it, Letty?" Rolf asked as he climbed onto the bed, next to my stunned and tense body. I don't have to think twice about telling Rolf because he's like a younger brother to me and knows all of my darkest and deepest secrets.
"Whatever I'm telling you, promise me you're not going to tell anyone, not a single soul." I know my face must be serious right now because he begins to sit upright and prepare for whatever comes next.
"You know who I am, Letty. I'm not going to reveal your secrets to anyone, and Grandpa Newt has taught Occlumency to me before, and I've mastered it."
"I know, but I still need to double-check because this is something really important, you know," I told him as I handed him the letter that had been sent to me. For a few seconds, he looks perplexed, and I realize I haven't yet allowed him to read it. What's a pain, even though it's extremely useful in terms of privacy.
"Wait a moment, let me do this first.", I hold the paper, and murmur "I, Colette Diggory allowing Rolf Scamander to know my secret.".
When I handed him the letter again, he made a funny face and read it. I opened my trunk and took out my wand while waiting for him to finish reading the letter. It is 10 inches tall, with Yew and Unicorn hair. I quickly shrink both of my favorite plants, Laurie and Andy, and carefully place them inside my trunk.
As I turn around, I notice Rolf's mouth O mouth shape, and his "this-is-unbelievable" twinkling eyes constantly looking between me and the letter. I can relate to him because when I found out that my idol, the famous Newt Scamander, was his grandfather, I did the same thing, except I yelped at first. It's impossible to blame me.
I cover my ears and think 'here we go', and after that, a really big scream comes out from my house. "NO WAYYYYYYYYY"
Downstair, I bet aunt Linda heard Rolf's scream and asked upon us what's happening. "What happened Letty?". I rush to my door and tell aunt Linda, "I'm sorry aunt Linda, it's just Rolf being over ecstatic scream.".
"Okay. Call me if you need anything Letty.", then when aunt Linda's voice faded, I turn and lock the door.
"Now, calm down."
Rolf just keeps jumping up and down on my bed, which is exhausting, but I'm just as surprised and overjoyed for me as he is. "I can't," he said, "how am I supposed to relax when you're the HH, Letty?" ".. I suppose HH is his way of saying Hufflepuff's heir aloud. I couldn't agree with him more.
"Right now, I'm thrilled, excited, and worried all at the same time." "I told him as I sat down in my chair and turned to face him. He's calmed down a little, but his cheeks are still pink from his exuberant scream. He's looking at me and waiting for me to respond, so I go on.
"Well, you see, the problem here is that I have no idea what to do with that." What will happen if I become an HH?" He appears calculating at first, but then he smiles and says, "Actually, I don't know, but I guess you'll know when you get there." At the very least, it's something else for you to look for when you return to the United Kingdom, isn't it?"
"Well…"
"Except for the fact that you're coming back for your family, for your brother, and your little redhead," he cut in before I could finish. He gave me a wink with the last part.
"Oh, you little BRAT!" and the pillow fight commences once more. That's all I've got. I'm not going to be concerned about something over which I have no control.
- NEXT DAY -
I'm saying goodbye to my aunt Linda, and she's tearing up right now. That makes me want to cry, too. She's also my family after all.
"Goodbye, Aunt Linda. I promised I will come back, and even if I don't come back, please come and visit me. I will miss you a lot.", I hug her super tight and she also did the same.
"My Letty is all grown up now. I still remember the day I first bring you to Ilvermorny, you were only 11. Oh my god. I'm crying again."
"It's okay aunt. I will be back. I love you a lot", I said and walk out of the door waving at her.
"Good luck, Letty. Remember to write me letters."
"I WILL", it's my promise to my aunt.
Later, I find myself knocking and entering the Scamanders household.
"Good morning, aunt Amber," I said to Mrs. Scamander, Rolf's mother, a lovely middle-aged woman who stands a little tall. You see, I'm already a tall girl at 5 feet 8 inches, and Mrs. Scamander is 5 feet 7 inches, so she's tall. She's also a very warm and sweet mother because my parents, except for aunt Linda, are unable to be here with me. The Scamanders have become like a second family to me. They even considered marrying me and Rolf before, but we had to convince them numerous times that we only see each other as brothers and sisters. Anyway, I adore her as if she were my mother.
"Hello, Letty dear, Wait a minute, Rolf's packing his last-minute plants, and then I'll take you both to the Scamander's Portkey location." You are not mistaken at all. Because of their head of the house, Newt Scamander, the Scamanders have a portkey between America and Great Britain. The famous author of one of my favorite books, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, as well as the person who assisted Albus Dumbledore in defeating Gellert Grindelwald. The Ministers of Magic of both America and the United Kingdom had agreed to give the Scamanders their portkey as a way of thanking Newt Scamander for what he had done.
I go into the kitchen and take a cup of milk. Because Rolf's house is similar to my own, I would spend the majority of my time in his house during the week so that I could call it my home. Rolf's house is not large, but it has enough space for almost everything a family needs. The house is particularly cozy and warm. Brown and yellow are the predominant colors in the wallpaper. That's probably why. There are many different sizes of plants, both normaj and magical. I settle into a comfortable armchair and converse with Rolf's owl, Hootie.
Today, we'll use the portkey to return to the United Kingdom, and our destination will be The Ministry Of Magic Residents Department. I chose brown pants, a white and yellow shirt, and a cozy and warm brown and yellow sweater for myself. Because it's short, my short, little curly, brunette hair remained the same. I'm not going to be able to tie it up. I also have a large yellow and black scarf that I wear around my neck, but for the time being, I just wear it around my arms. Also, yes, yellow and brown are my favorite colors.
"Hootie, you see, I also bring Snowy with me," I say, reaching over next to my trunk and holding a cage in my lap. Snowy, my pet arctic fox, was inside the wooden cage. He'll always cuddle and snuggle with me. He usually makes himself at home around my neck if I'm not wearing a scarf, which is fine with me because he's too warm.
I laugh out loud at Hootie's face showing that he's scared of Snowy, and then Snowy put out his claws scaring Hootie. Then, I heard footsteps, then in front of me stood a changed Rolf Scamander who's holding his favorite trunk, the trunk of his famous grandfather. He comes to the kitchen and hugs his mother and tells her something that I think is "I'm done. Let's go, mom". When he comes back, he's already looking all prepared, and smiles largely at me.
"I'm all done now, let's hit the road, Letty."
"Yes! Let's go."
While walking to the fireplace, we both bring our trunks and our pets' cages with us. Rolf went first, and then it was my turn. I step into the flame and toss the powder into it, "The Scamanders Cottage," and the green flame engulfs me.
The next thing I knew, I was at the Scamanders Cottage, where Rolf Scamander was hugging his grandmother, Tina Scamander, and conversing with his grandfather, Newt Scamander. When I approach them and greet them, they both smile, and grandma Tina pulls me into a tight and warm hug, not that I would complain.
"It's great to see you, Grandma Tina," I said, hugging her tightly in return. Then I shift my attention to grandfather Newt. He has always been my and Rolf's mentor, and he is also the most badass person I can think of in this world. "I miss you so much, Grandpa Newt," I say as I give him a tight hug, and he smiles warmly and hugs me back.
"You've changed a lot since the last time we met, Letty. "You've grown into a lovely young lady now, no longer the young girls who used to play with old Niffy," Grandpa Newt said as he patted my head. Grandpa Newt's niffler, Old Niffy, has been following him since the beginning of his journey to America.
"You don't look your age, either, grandpa," I say, and he chuckles. It's true, even though Grandpa is 98 this year, he still looks "dashing" and youthful. I then turn to grandma Tina and kiss her cheek, saying, "Especially you, grandma, you don't look your age at all." You still look like a model." I smiled, and both grandpa and grandma laughed at me, as did aunt Amber.
"Oh dear Letty, you don't seem to think so much about your aunt, do you?" aunt Amber joked, and I crossed my arms around her arm, "Of course aunt Amber is the goddess in my eyes, always look so beautiful." Aunt Amber tapped my nose playfully as everyone smiled and laughed.
"Letty, you are such a flatterer," Rolf complains, laughing at the same time.
"Now, now, shouldn't we be on time? "Come one," Grandpa Newt said as he led us into the backyard of the cottage, where the portkey was hidden. When we arrived, both I and Rolf gave everyone hugs and kisses, and then we held opposite ends of the portkey.
"GRANDPA NEWT, GRANDMA TINA, AND AUNT AMBER, GOODBYE." WE WILL WRITE YOU LETTERS," we both scream in unison, and then I feel like there's a hook "somewhere behind the navel" pulling me away.
After the dizziness and twirling have subsided, I find myself standing inside a broad and flat hill. A curious Rolf Scamander stood next to me, and when I look in front of me, I see my mother and father, a middle-aged and worried couple. I rush toward them without thinking, and they both engulf me in a big family hug. The presence of my parents makes me extremely happy, and I can feel myself crying happy tears.
"I'm home, mom and dad."
